| 2 | Protective effects of Jiayan Kangtai granules on autoimmune thyroiditis in a rat model by modulating Th17/Treg cell balance显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the protective effects of Jiayan Kangtai(JYKT) granules, consisting of 9 Chinese herbs, in a rat model of autoimmune thyroiditis(AIT), and the possible underlying mechanism.METHODS: Female Lewis rats(6-8 weeks) were randomly apportioned to 5 groups of 10, including a normal control. AIT was induced in the untreated AIT-model group, and rats treated subsequently with daily low, medium, or high dose JYKT granules. After 12 weeks, plasma levels of thyroid autoantibodies and morphological changes in the thyroid were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and histological examination, respectively. The presence of interleukin(IL)-6,IL23 p19, and IL-2 in thyroid tissue was assessed by immunohistochemical staining. The percentages of T helper(Th)17 cells and regulatory T cells(Tregs) in the peripheral blood were analyzed by flow cytometry. Relevant levels of cytokines and proteins were examined via bead-based multiplex flow cytometry and ELISA, respectively. Expressions of genes and proteins regulated by Th17 cells and Tregs were shown by real-time PCR and Western blot.RESULTS: Compared to the control, AIT-model rats had higher plasma concentrations of thyroid autoantibodies. The high-dose JYKT rats showed significantly lower levels of thyroid autoantibodies compared with the AIT model group. Rats in the AIT-JYKT groups also had fewer thyroid lesions and less lymphocytic infiltration, a lower percentage of Th17 cells, and a higher percentage of Tregs, compared with the AIT-model. Rats given high-dose JYKT had a significantly lower Th17/Treg ratio compared with the AIT model. | 4 | Synthetic aperture ptychography:coded sensor translation for joint spatial-Fourier bandwidth expansion显示文摘Conventional ptychography translates an object through a localized probe beam to widen the field of view in real space.Fourier ptychography translates the object spectrum through a pupil aperture to expand the Fourier bandwidth in reciprocal space.Here we report an imaging modality,termed synthetic aperture ptychography(SAP),to get the best of both techniques.In SAP,we illuminate a stationary object using an extended plane wave and translate a coded image sensor at the far field for data acquisition.The coded layer attached on the sensor modulates the object exit waves and serves as an effective ptychographic probe for phase retrieval.The sensor translation process in SAP synthesizes a large complex-valued wavefront at the intermediate aperture plane.By propagating this wavefront back to the object plane,we can widen the field of view in real space and expand the Fourier bandwidth in reciprocal space simultaneously.We validate the SAP approach with transmission targets and reflection silicon microchips.A 20-mm aperture was synthesized using a 5-mm sensor,achieving a fourfold gain in resolution and 16-fold gain in field of view for object recovery.In addition,the thin sample requirement in ptychography is no longer required in SAP.One can digitally propagate the recovered exit wave to any axial position for post-acquisition refocusing.The SAP scheme offers a solution for far-field sub-diffraction imaging without using lenses.It can be adopted in coherent diffraction imaging setups with radiation sources from visible light,extreme ultraviolet,and X-ray,to electron. | PENGMING SONG SHAOWEI JIANG TIANBO WANG CHENGFEI GUO RUIHAI WANG TERRANCE ZHANG GUOAN ZHENG | 2022 | Photonics Research2022,10,7: | 2 |

| 6 | Flavonoids from traditional Chinese herbs for diabetes in rats:a network Meta-analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE:In this Meta-analysis,we evaluated the hypoglycemic effect of 5 flavonoids found in traditional Chinese herbs(naringenin,kaempferol,puerarin,baicalein,and luteolin)on diabetic rats.METHODS:Four databases including Pub Med,Web of Science,Embase,and Cochrane Library,were searched from inception to May 2020.Only studies using diabetes model rats were included in the analysis.Blood glucose data from the last measurement were collected and analyzed.Pair-wise Meta-analyses were conducted using STATA v14.0 software and a Meta-analysis was conducted using STATA v14.0,ADDIS v1.16.6,and R v3.6.1.The quality of included studies was assessed with the SYRCLE risk of bias tool for animal studies,and publication bias was evaluated with a comparisonadjusted funnel plot.RESULTS:A total of 33 studies were included in the analysis,in which all 5 flavonoids showed a beneficial effect on blood glucose level of diabetic rats were included in the final analysis.The standardized mean differences(95%confidence intervals)were-4.92(-6.67,-3.17)for naringenin,-12(-18.74,-5.27)for kaempferol,-2.52(-3.77,-1.26)for puerarin,-3.04(-5.75,-0.34)for baicalein,and-1.94(-2.95,-0.92)for luteolin.The network Meta-analysis showed no statistically significant differences between the effect sizes of the flavonoids.CONCLUSION:The results of the Meta-analysis showed that naringenin,kaempferol,puerarin,baicalein,and luteolin all have clear hypoglycemic effects in rat diabetes models,highlighting their therapeutic potential for preventing and treating diabetes mellitus in clinical practice. | WU You HU Yuli LIU Wei SUN Boju ZHANG Chengfei WU Lili LIU Tonghua | 2022 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2022,42,1: | 2 |

| 8 | IFN-stimulated P2Y13 protects mice from viral infection by suppressing the cAMP/EPACl signaling pathway显示文摘Among the most important sensors of extracellular danger signals, purinergic receptors have been demonstrated to play crucial roles in host defense against infection. However, the function of P2 receptors in viral infection has been little explored. Here we demonstrated that P2Y13 and its ligand ADP play an important role in protecting hosts from viral infections. First, we demonstrate that P2Y13, as a typical interferon-stimulated gene, is induced together with extracellular ADP during viral infection. Most importantly, extracellular ADP restricts the replication of different kinds of viruses, including vesicular stomatitis virus, Newcastle disease virus, herpes simplex virus 1, and murine leukemia virus. This kind of protection is dependent on P2Y13 but not P2Y1 or P2Y12, which are also considered as receptors for ADP. Furthermore, cyclic adenosine monophosphate and EPAC1 are downregu-lated by extracellular ADP through the P2Y13-coupled Gi alpha subunit. Accordingly, inhibition or deletion of EPAC1 significantly eliminates ADP/P2Y13-mediated antiviral activities. | 9 | Volatile organic compound emissions from straw-amended agricultural soils and their relations to bacterial communities:A laboratory study显示文摘A laboratory study was conducted to investigate volatile organic compound(VOC) emissions from agricultural soil amended with wheat straw and their associations with bacterial communities for a period of 66 days under non-flooded and flooded conditions. The results indicated that ethene, propene, ethanol, i-propanol, 2-butanol, acetaldehyde, acetone,2-butanone, 2-pentanone and acetophenone were the 10 most abundant VOCs, making up over 90% of the total VOCs released under the two water conditions. The mean emission of total VOCs from the amended soils under the non-flooded condition(5924 ng C/(kg·hr)) was significantly higher than that under the flooded condition(2211 ng C/(kg·hr)). One 'peak emission window' appeared at days 0–44 or 4–44, and over 95% of the VOC emissions occurred during the first month under the two water conditions. Bacterial community analysis using denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis(DGGE) showed that a relative increase of Actinobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes and γ-Proteobacteria but a relative decrease of Acidobacteria with time were observed after straw amendments under the two water conditions. Cluster analysis revealed that the soil bacterial communities changed greatly with incubation time, which was in line with the variation of the VOC emissions over the experimental period. Most of the above top 10 VOCs correlated positively with the predominant bacterial species of Bacteroidetes, Firmicutes and Verrucomicrobia but correlated negatively with the dominant bacterial species of Actinobacteria under the two water conditions. | 12 | Titanium carbide nanosheets with defect structure for photothermal-enhanced sonodynamic therapy显示文摘Sonodynamic therapy(SDT)has attracted widespread interest in biomedicine,owing to its novel and noninvasive therapeutic method triggered by ultrasound(US).Herein,the Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene nanosheets(Ti_(3)C_(2) NSs)are developed as good sonosensitizers via a two-step method of chemical exfoliation and high-temperature treatment.With the high-temperature treatment,the oxygen defect of Ti_(3)C_(2) MXene nanosheets(H-Ti_(3)C_(2) NSs)is greatly increased.Therefore,the electron(e^(-))and hole(h^(+))generated by US can be separated faster due to the improved degree of oxidation,and then the recombination of e^(-)-h^(+)can be prevented with the abundant oxygen defect under US irradiation,which induced the sonodynamic efficiency greatly to improve around 3.7-fold compared with Ti_(3)C_(2) NSs without high-temperature treatment.After PEGylation,the H-Ti_(3)C_(2)-PEG NSs show good stability and biocompatibility.In vitro studies exhibit that the inherent property of mild photothermal effect can promote the endocytosis of H-Ti_(3)C_(2)-PEG NSs,which can improve the SDT efficacy.In vivo studies further display that the increased blood supply by the mild photothermal effect can significantly relieve hypoxia in the tumor microenvironment,showing photothermal therapy(PTT)enhanced SDT.Most importantly,the H-Ti_(3)C_(2)-PEG NSs can be biodegraded and excreted out of the body,showing no significant long-term toxicity.Our work develops the defective H-Ti_(3)C_(2) NSs as high-efficiency and safe sonosensitizers for photothermal-enhanced SDT of cancer,extending the biomedical application of MXene-based nanoplatforms. | Guangqiang Li Xiaoyan Zhong Xianwen Wang Fei Gong Huali Lei Yangkai Zhou Chengfei Li Zhidong Xiao Guoxi Ren Liang Zhang Zhiqiang Dong Zhuang Liu Liang Cheng | 2022 | Bioactive Materials2022,7,2: | 1 |

| 15 | The advantages of penehyclidine hydrochloride over atropine in acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning:A meta-analysis显示文摘Background:Penehyclidine hydrochloride(PHC)has been used for many years as an anticholinergic drug for the treatment of acute organophosphorus pesticide poisoning(AOPP).The purpose of this meta-analysis was to explore whether PHC has advantages over atropine in the use of anticholinergic drugs in AOPP.Methods:We searched Scopus,Embase,Cochrane,PubMed,ProQuest,Ovid,Web of Science,China Science and Technology Journal Database(VIP),Duxiu,Chinese Biomedical literature(CBM),WanFang,and Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI),from inception to March 2022.After all qualified randomized controlled trials(RCTs)were included,we conducted quality evaluation,data extraction,and statistical analysis.Statistics using risk ratios(RR),weighted mean difference(WMD),and standard mean difference(SMD).Results:Our meta-analysis included 20,797 subjects from 240 studies across 242 different hospitals in China.Compared with the atropine group,the PHC group showed decreased mortality rate(RR=0.20,95%confidence intervals[CI]:0.16–0.25,P<0.001),hospitalization time(WMD=-3.89,95%CI:-4.37 to-3.41,P<0.001),overall incidence rate of complications(RR=0.35,95%CI:0.28–0.43,P<0.001),overall incidence of adverse reactions(RR=0.19,95%CI:0.17–0.22,P<0.001),total symptom disappearance time(SMD=-2.13,95%CI:-2.35 to-1.90,P<0.001),time for cholinesterase activity to return to normal value 50–60%(SMD=-1.87,95%CI:-2.03 to-1.70,P<0.001),coma time(WMD=-5.57,95%CI:-7.20 to-3.95,P<0.001),and mechanical ventilation time(WMD=-2.16,95%CI:-2.79 to-1.53,P<0.001).Conclusion:PHC has several advantages over atropine as an anticholinergic drug in AOPP. | Siyao Zeng Lei Ma Lishan Yang Xiaodong Hu Cheng Wang Xinxin Guo Yi Li Yi Gou Yao Zhang Shengming Li Shaotong Zhang Xiaoxuan Wu Meihong Li Jing Lei Bingqian Li Chengfei Bi Like Ma Qingpeng Luo | 2023 | Journal of Intensive Medicine2023,3,2: | 0 |

However, in most cases, the guest ions were monovalent due to lack of reliable method to insert divalent and trivalent guest ions. In this work, we demonstrated that divalent and trivalent metal ions could be inserted into frameworks of a coordinate polymer, Cu3[Fe(CN)6]2, through electrochemical intercalation. The magnetism of the host frameworks was changed among paramagnetic, superparamagnetic, and ferromagnetic as demonstrated by physical property measurement system (PPMS). Furthermore, the magnetization of the frameworks under low temperatures correlated to the guest ions significantly. | 17 | Ginsenoside Rg1 improves anti-tumor efficacy of adoptive cell therapy by enhancing T cell effector functions显示文摘Adoptive cell therapy(ACT)has emerged with remarkable efficacies for tumor immunotherapy.Chimeric antigen receptor(CAR)T cell therapy,as one of most promising ACTs,has achieved prominent effects in treating malignant hematological tumors.However,the insufficient killing activity and limited persistence of T cells in the immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment limit the further application of ACTs for cancer patients.Many studies have focused on improving cytotoxicity and persistence of T cells to achieve improved therapeutic effects.In this study,we explored the potential function in ACT of ginsenoside Rg1,the main pharmacologically active component of ginseng.We introduced Rg1 during the in vitro activation and expansion phase of T cells,and found that Rg1 treatment upregulated two T cell activation markers,CD69 and CD25,while promoting T cell differentiation towards a mature state.Transcriptome sequencing revealed that Rg1 influenced T cell metabolic reprogramming by strengthening mitochondrial biosynthesis.When co-cultured with tumor cells,Rg1-treated T cells showed stronger cytotoxicity than untreated cells.Moreover,adding Rg1 to the culture endowed CAR-T cells with enhanced anti-tumor efficacy.This study suggests that ginsenoside Rg1 provides a potential approach for improving the anti-tumor efficacy of ACT by enhancing T cell effector functions. | Yue Liu Lingna An Chengfei Yang Xiaoqi Wang Ruihao Huang Xi Zhang | 2023 | Blood Science2023,5,3: | 0 |
