1Natural Variation in CCD4 Promoter Underpins Species-Specific Evolution of Red Coloration in Citrus Peel显示文摘Carotenoids and apocarotenoids act as phytohormones and volatile precursors that influence plant development and confer aesthetic and nutritional value critical to consumer preference.Citrus fruits display considerable natural variation in carotenoid and apocarotenoid pigments.In this study,using an integrated genetic approach we revealed that a 5;c/s-regulatory change at CCD4b encoding CAROTENOID CLEAVAGE DIOXYGENASE 4b is a major genetic determinant of natural variation in C3 0 apocarotenoids responsible for red coloration of citrus peel.Functional analyses demonstrated that in addition the known role in synthesizing 3-citraurin,CCD4b is also responsible for the production of another important C3 0 apocarotenoid pigment,p-citraurinene.Furthermore,analyses of the CCD4b promoter and transcripts from various citrus germplasm accessions established a tight correlation between the presence of a putative 5'c/s-regulatory enhancer within an MITE transposon and the enhanced allelic expression of CCD4b in C3 0 apocarotenoid-rich red-peeled accessions.Phylogenetic analysis provided further evidence that functional diversification of CCD4b and naturally occurring variation of the CCD4b promoter resulted in the stepwise evolution of red peels in mandarins and their hybrids.Taken together,our findings provide new insights into the genetic and evolutionary basis of apocarotenoid diversity in plants,and would facilitate breeding efforts that aim to improve the nutritional and aesthetic value of citrus and perhaps other fruit crops.Xiongjie Zheng Kaijie Zhu Quan Sun Weiyi Zhang Xia Wang Hongbo Cao Meilian Tan Zongzhou Xie Yunliu Zeng Junli Ye Lijun Chai Qiang Xu Zhiyong Pan Shunyuan Xiao Paul D.Fraser Xiuxin Deng 2019Molecular Plant2019,12,9:18
2Generation of 33 fs pulses directly from a Kerr-lens mode-locked Yb:CaYAlO4 laser显示文摘We experimentally demonstrated a diode-pumped Kerr-lens mode-locked femtosecond laser with a Yb:CaYAlO4 crystal as the gain medium. Pulse duration as short as 33 fs was obtained directly from the oscillator at a repetition rate of 115 MHz. The central wavelength was at 1059 nm with a spectral bandwidth of 49 nm. 3Severity of early allograft dysfunction following donation after circulatory death liver transplantation:a multicentre study显示文摘Background:Early allograft dysfunction(EAD)is associated with decreased graft and patient survival rates.This study aimed to identify the severity of EAD and develop a predictive model for EAD after donation after circulatory death(DCD)liver transplantation(LT).Furthermore,the influence of operative time on EAD incidence was also evaluated.Methods:In this retrospective,multicentre cohort study,nomograms were established based on a single-centre training cohort(n=321)and validated in a 3-center validation cohort(n=501).Results:The incidence rate of EAD was 46.4%(149/321)in the training cohort and 40.5%(203/501)in the validation cohort.Of the 149 EAD patients in the training cohort,77 patients with either elevated alanine aminotransferase(ALT)or aspartate aminotransferase(AST)were classified as having EAD type A,and the rest of the EAD patients were classified as having EAD type B.Recipients with EAD type B had lower graft and patient survival rates than recipients with EAD type A(P=0.043 and 0.044,respectively).We further developed a nomogram to predict EAD(graft weight,cold ischemia time,donor age,model for end-stage liver disease(MELD)score)and another nomogram to predict EAD type B(graft weight,cold ischemia time,MELD score).The nomograms for the prediction of EAD and EAD type B had good discrimination[concordance index(C-index)=0.712(0.666-0.758),0.707(0.641-0.773)]and calibration[Hosmer-Lemeshow(HL)P=0.384,P=0.425]in the validation cohort.An increased operative time(>6 h)was associated with increased EAD and EAD type B incidence in the high-risk group(P=0.005,P=0.020,respectively).Conclusions:EAD type B was associated with decreased graft and patient survival rates.The novel nomograms effectively predicted the incidence of EAD and EAD type B in DCD LT patients.Kun Wang Di Lu Yuhui Liu Wangyao Li Li Zhuang Zhenyu Ma Qinfen Xie Binhua Pan Yichao Wu Junli Chen Lidan Lin Xiaowen Feng Qiang Wei Xuyong Wei Haiyang Xie Zhengxin Wang Shusen Zheng Xiao Xu 2021Hepatobiliary Surgery and Nutrition2021,10,1:4

9Synergistic-engineered van der Waals photodiodes with high efficiency显示文摘Van der Waals(vdW)heterostructures based on two-dimensional transitionmetal dichalcogenides have provided unprecedented opportunities for photovoltaic detectors owing to their strong light-matter interaction and ultrafast interfacial charge transfer.Despite continued advancement,insufficient control of photocarrier behaviors still limits the external quantum efficiency(EQE)and operation speed of such detectors.Here,we propose a synergistic strategy of contact-configuration design and thickness-modulation to construct high-performance vdW photodiodes based on the typical type II heterostructure(MoS2/WSe2).Through integrating three contact architectures into one device to exclude other factors,we solid the superiority of designed 1L-MoS2/WSe2/graphene heterostructures incorporating efficient photocarrier collection and gate modulation.Together with leveraging the layer-numberdependent properties of WSe2,we observe the critical thickness of WSe2(11 layers)for the highest EQE,which verifies the thickness-dependent competition between photocarrier generation,dissociation,and collection.Finally,we demonstrate the synergistic-engineered vdW heterostructure can trigger record-high EQE(61%)and manifest ultrafast photoresponse(4.1μs)at the atomically thin limit(8 nm).The proposed strategy enables architecture-design and thickness-engineering to unlock the potential to realize high-performance optoelectronic devices.Baishan Liu Xiankun Zhang Junli Du Jiankun Xiao Huihui Yu Mengyu Hong Li Gao Yang Ou Zhuo Kang Qingliang Liao Zheng Zhang Yue Zhang 2022InfoMat2022,4,3:1

16Ultra-compact titanium dioxide micro-ring resonators with sub-10-μm radius for on-chip photonics显示文摘Microring resonators (MRRs) with ultracompact footprints are preferred for enhancing the light-matter interactions to benefit various applications. Here,ultracompact titanium dioxide (TiO2) MRRs with sub-10-μm radii are experimentally demonstrated. Thanks to the large refractive index of TiO_(2),the quality factors up to -7.9×10^(4) and -4.4×10^(4)are achieved for TiO_(2) MRRs with radii of 10μm and 6μm,respectively,which result in large nonlinear power enhancement factors (>113) and large Purcell factors (>56). The four-wave mixing(FWM) measurements indicate that,compared to the large MRR,the FWM conversion efficiency of the ultracompact TiO2 MRRs can be greatly improved (e.g.,-25 dB versus-31 dB),a harbinger of significant superiorities. 20The coupling effect characterization for van der Waals structures based on transition metal dichalcogenides显示文摘van der Waals(vdW)heterostructures based on two-dimensional(2D)materials holding design-by-demand features offer astonishing opportunities to construct novel electronics and optoelectronics devices due to the vdW force interaction between their stacked components.At the atomically thin confinement,vdW heterostructure not only exhibits unprecedented properties as an entire counterpart,but also provides unique platforms to manipulate the vdW interfacial behaviors.Therefore,developing characterization techniques to comprehensively understand the coupling effect on structure-property-performance relationship of vdW heterostructures is crucial for fundamental science and practical applications.Here,we focus on the most widely studied 2D semiconductor transition metal dichalcogenides(TMDCs)and systematically review significant advances in characterizing the material and interfacial coupling effect of the related vdW heterostructures.Specially,we will discuss microscopy techniques for unveiling the structure-property relationship of vdW heterostructures and optical spectroscopy measurements for analyzing vdW interfacial coupling effect.Finally,we address some promising strategies to optimize characterization technologies for resolving vdW heterostructures,including coupling multiple characterization technologies,improving temporal and spatial resolution,developing fast,efficient,and non-destructive techniques and introducing artificial intelligence.Baishan Liu Junli Du Huihui Yu Mengyu Hong Zhuo Kang Zheng Zhang Yue Zhang 2021Nano Research2021,14,6:1
