| 1 | Biofunctional magnesium coated Ti6Al4V scaffold enhances osteogenesis and angiogenesis in vitro and in vivo for orthopedic application显示文摘The insufficient osteogenesis and osseointegration of porous titanium based scaffold limit its further application.Early angiogenesis is important for scaffold survival.It is necessary to develop a multifunctional surface on titanium scaffold with both osteogenic and angiogenic properties.In this study,a biofunctional magnesium coating is deposited on porous Ti6Al4V scaffold.For osseointegration and osteogenesis analysis,in vitro studies reveal that magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V co-culture with MC3T3-E1 cells can improve cell proliferation,adhesion,extracellular matrix(ECM)mineralization and ALP activity compared with bare Ti6Al4V cocultivation.Additionally,MC3T3-E1 cells cultured with magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V show significantly higher osteogenesisrelated genes expression.In vivo studies including fluorochrome labeling,micro-computerized tomography and histological examination of magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V scaffold reveal that new bone regeneration is significantly increased in rabbits after implantation.For angiogenesis studies,magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V improve HUVECs proliferation,adhesion,tube formation,wound-healing and Transwell abilities.HUVECs cultured with magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V display significantly higher angiogenesis-related genes(HIF-1αand VEGF)expression.Microangiography analysis reveal that magnesium-coated Ti6Al4V scaffold can significantly enhance the blood vessel formation.This study enlarges the application scope of magnesium and provides an optional choice to the conventional porous Ti6Al4V scaffold with enhanced osteogenesis and angiogenesis for further orthopedic applications. | Peng Gao Bo Fan Xiaoming Yu Wenwen Liu Jie Wu Lei Shi Di Yang Lili Tan Peng Wan Yulin Hao Shujun Li Wentao Hou Ke Yang Xiaokang Li Zheng Guo | 2020 | Bioactive Materials2020,5,3: | 15 |

| 3 | Genome-wide Dissection of Co-selected UV-B Responsive Pathways in the UV-B Adaptation of Qingke显示文摘Qingke (Tibetan hulless barley) has long been cultivated and exposed to long-term and strong UV-B radiation on the Tibetan Plateau, which renders it an ideal species for elucidating novel UV-B responsive mechanisms in plants. Here we report a comprehensive metabolite profiling and metabolite-based genome-wide association study (mGWAS) using 196 diverse qingke and barley accessions. Our results demonstrated both constitutive and induced accumulation, and common genetic regulation, of metabolites from different branches of the phenylpropanoid pathway that are involved in UV-B protection. A total of 90 significant mGWAS loci for these metabolites were identified in barley-qingke differentiation regions, and a number of high-level metabolite trait alleles were found to be significantly enriched in qingke, suggesting co-selection of various phenylpropanoids. Upon dissecting the entire phenylpropanoid pathway, we identified some key determinants controlling natural variation of phenylpropanoid content, including three novel proteins, a flavone C-pentosyltransferase, a tyramine hydroxycinnamoyl acyltransferase, and a MYB transcription factor. | 7 | Synthesis of LiFePO_4 using FeSO_4·7H_2O byproduct from TiO_2 production as raw material显示文摘As the byproduct of TiO2 industrial production, impure FeSO4·7H2O was used for the synthesis of LiFePO4. With the purified solution of FeSO4·7H2O, FePO4·xH2O was prepared by a normal titration method and a controlled crystallization method, respectively. Then LiFePO4 materials were synthesized by calcining the mixture of FePO4·xH2O, Li2CO3, and glucose at 700°C for 10 h in flowing Ar. The results indicate that the elimination of FeSO4·7H2O impurities reached over 95%, and using FePO4·xH2O prepared by the controlled crystallization method, the obtained LiFePO4 material has fine and sphere-like particles. The material delivers a higher initial discharge specific capacity of 149 mAh·g-1 at a current density of 0.1C rate (1C=170 mA·g-1); the discharge specific capacity also maintains above 120 mAh·g1 after 100 cycles even at 2C rate. Unlike existing basis expansion methods, this new algorithm does not require .estimation of the base frequencies, neither need the assumption of linearly varying delays across symbols. | 9 | Oxygen vacancies enriched nickel cobalt based nanoflower cathodes: Mechanism and application of the enhanced energy storage显示文摘The rational design of oxygen vacancies and electronic microstructures of electrode materials for energy storage devices still remains a challenge. Herein, we synthesize nickel cobalt-based oxides nanoflower arrays assembled with nanowires grown on Ni foam via the hydrothermal process followed annealing process in air and argon atmospheres respectively. It is found that the annealing atmosphere has a vital influence on the oxygen vacancies and electronic microstructures of resulting NiCo_(2)O_(4) (NCO-Air) and CoNiO_(2) (NCO-Ar) products, which NCO-Ar has more oxygen vacancies and larger specific surface area of 163.48 m^(2)/g. The density functional theory calculation reveals that more oxygen vacancies can provide more electrons to adsorb –OH free anions resulting in superior electrochemical energy storage performance. Therefore, the assembled asymmetric supercapacitor of NCO-Ar//active carbon delivers an excellent energy density of 112.52 Wh/kg at a power density of 558.73 W/kg and the fabricated NCO-Ar//Zn battery presents the specific capacity of 180.20 mAh/g and energy density of 308.14 Wh/kg. | 19 | SOIL CONSERVATION EFFICIENCY OF DIFFERENT MODELS CONVERTING FROM STEEP FARMING SLOPE PLOTS IN YA'AN, SICHUAN, CHINA显示文摘Converting farming slope land into artificial forestland or grassland is a major measure of soil/water conservation. Five conversion practices, namely, 1) a control plot still tilled with a crop (maize), 2) a folder grass-growing plot seeded with Lolium perenne, 3) a young alder tree-growing plot, 4) a pear orchard plot and 5)a bamboo plot intercropped with folder grass, were monitored to compare the soil conservation efficiency of those changes in Ya'an, Sichuan for 3 years between September 1998 and August 2001. Results showed that the 5 designed converting models functioned differently in erosion control. The most effective model was bamboo groves intercropped with folder grass (Lolium perenne). The folder grass (Lolium perenne) growing model was more effective than the pure pear orchard model. The least effective model was the young alder tree-growing slope, which was even less effective than the control (a slope without converted cultivation).
