4Interactive effects of soil temperature and moisture on soil N mineralization in a Stipa krylovii grassland in Inner Mongolia, China显示文摘Determining soil N mineralization response to soil temperature and moisture changes is challenging in the field due to complicated effects from other factors. In the laboratory, N mineralization is highly dependent on temperature, moisture and sample size. In this study, a laboratory incubation experiment was carefully designed and conducted under controlled conditions to examine the effects of soil temperature and moisture on soil N mineralization using soil samples obtained from the Stipa krylovii grassland in Inner Mongolia, China. Five temperature(i.e. 9°C, 14°C, 22°C, 30°C and 40°C) and five moisture levels(i.e. 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% and 100% WHC, where WHC is the soil water holding capacity) were included in a full-factorial design. During the 71-day incubation period, microbial biomass carbon(MBC), ammonium nitrogen(NH4 +-N) and nitrate nitrogen(NO3--N) were measured approximately every 18 days; soil basal respiration for qCO2 index was measured once every 2 days(once a week near the end of the incubation period). The results showed that the mineral N production and net N mineralization rates were positively correlated with temperature; the strongest correlation was observed for temperatures between 30°C and 40°C. The relationships between moisture levels and both the mineral N production and net N mineralization rates were quadratic. The interaction between soil temperature and moisture was significant on N mineralization, i.e. increasing temperatures(moisture) enhanced the sensitivity of N mineralization to moisture(temperature). Our results also showed a positive correlation between the net nitrification rate and temperature, while the correlation between the NH4 +-N content and temperature was insignificant. The net nitrification rate was negatively correlated with high NH4 +-N contents at 80%–100% WHC, suggesting an active denitrification in moist conditions. Moreover, qCO2 index was positively correlated with temperature, especially at 80% WHC. 5Assessing the numbers of SNPs needed to establish molecular IDs and characterize the genetic diversityof soybean cultivars derived from Tokachi nagaha显示文摘The development of a core set of SNP molecular markers that could be widely used in soybean genetic research would greatly facilitate research into the genetic diversity of soybean.We conducted an analysis of Tokachi nagaha and 137 of its descendant soybean cultivars using 4044 SNP markers with the goal of determining the appropriate number of single-nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)needed to construct unambiguous molecular IDs and characterize genetic diversity based on a genetic distance matrix correlation method.When the number of SNPs was held constant,the number of accession pairs that could be distinguished increased as the polymorphism informative content(PIC)value of the SNPs increased.A core panel of 20 selected SNPs from 11 linkage groups with a mean PIC value of 0.3703 and a range of 0.3640–0.3749 was able to identify almost all of the accession pairs in our study[9445 pairs(99.92%)].The eight accession pairs that could not be identified with this core SNP set all originated from the same province and some of them had the same parental cultivars.The molecular IDs of the 138 accessions were constructed using the core 20 SNPs.It is known that both the number of SNPs and PIC values should be considered when SNPs are selected for use in the analysis of genetic diversity.In this study,when the PIC value was 0.3460,the correlation coefficient between the genetic distance matrices associated with a panel of 200 SNPs and the total population was>0.800,indicating satisfactory correlation.Our high-accuracy,high-resolution core SNP panel for germplasm fingerprinting and our findings about assessing genetic diversity will likely markedly improve the management and utilization efficiency of soybean germplasm resources.Zhangxiong Liu Jun Li Xuhong Fan Nang Myint Phyu Sin Htwe Shuming Wang Wen Huang Jiyu Yang Lili Xing Lijun Chen Yinghui Li Rongxia Guan Ruzhen Chang Dechun Wang Lijuan Qiu 2017The Crop Journal2017,5,4:10

7Pre-oxidation with KMnO4 changes extra-cellular organic matter's secretion characteristics to improve algal removal by coagulation with a low dosage of polyaluminium chloride显示文摘Microcystis aeruginosa was used to study the effect of KMnO4 pre-oxidation on algal removal through coagulation with polyaluminium chloride (PAC).KMnO4 pre-oxidation improved the coagulation efficiency of algal at a low dosage of PAC.The optimal KMnO4 feeding period was in the stationary growth phase of Microcystis aeruginosa.KMnO4 traumatized the algal cells and stimulated cellular release of organic matter,contributing to the pool of extra-cellular organic matter (EOM).KMnO4 also decomposed EOM,especially small molecular weight EOM.Lower concentrations of KMnO4,such as 2 mg/L,induced algae cells to produce moderate amounts of new EOM with molecular weights of 11,280,and 1500 kDa.These relatively large molecules combined easily with PAC,promoting coagulation and removal of algae.High concentrations of KMnO4 lysed algae cells and produced much high-molecular-weight EOM that did not enhance flocculation by PAC at lower dosages.Lei Wang Junlian Qiao Yinghui Hu Lei Wang Long Zhang Qiaoli Zhou Naiyun Gao 2013Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,3:10

10Neural stem cell transplantation with Nogo-66 receptor gene silencing to treat severe traumatic brain injury显示文摘Inhibition of neurite growth, which is mediated by the Nogo-66 receptor (NgR), affects nerve regeneration following neural stem cell (NSC) transplantation. The present study utilized RNA interference to silence NgR gene expression in NSCs, which were subsequently transplanted into rats with traumatic brain injury. Following transplantation of NSCs transfected with small interfering RNA, typical neural cell-like morphology was detected in injured brain tissues, and was accompanied by absence of brain tissue cavity, increased growth-associated protein 43 mRNA and protein expression, and improved neurological function compared with NSC transplantation alone. 11A refined coherent point drift(CPD)algorithm for point set registration显示文摘The coherent point drift (CPD) algorithm is a powerful approach for point set registration. However, it suffers from a serious problem-there is a weight parameter w that reflects the assumption about the amount of noise and number of outliers in the Gaussian mixture model, and its value has an influence on the point set registration performance In the original CPD algorithm, the value of w is set manually, and hence an improper value will lead to poor registration results. To solve this problem, a fully automatic algorithm for the selection of an optimal weight parameter is proposed using a hybrid optimization scheme that combines the genetic algorithm with the Nelder-Mead simplex method. 12Physiological effects of weightlessness: countermeasure system development for a long-term Chinese manned spaceflight显示文摘The Chinese space station will be built around 2020. As a national space laboratory, it will offer unique opportunities for studying the physiological effects of weightlessness and the efficacy of the countermeasures against such effects. In this paper, we described the development of countermeasure systems in the Chinese space program. To emphasize the need of the Chinese space program to implement its own program for developing countermeasures, we reviewed the literature on the negative physiological effects of weightlessness, the challenges of completing missions, the development of countermeasure devices, the establishment of countermeasure programs, and the efficacy of the countermeasure techniques in American and Russian manned spaceflights. 15Distributed regression estimation with incomplete data in multi-agent networks显示文摘In this paper, distributed regression estimation problem with incomplete data in a time-varying multi-agent network is investigated. Regression estimation is carried out based on local agent information with incomplete in the non-ignorable mechanism. By virtue of gradient-based design and adaptive filter, a distributed algorithm is proposed to deal with a regression estimation problem with incomplete data. With the help of convex analysis and stochastic approximation techniques, the exact convergence is obtained for the proposed algorithm with incomplete data and a jointly-connected multi-agent topology. Moreover, online regret analysis is also given for real-time learning. 16Kallistatin,a new and reliable biomarker for the diagnosis of liver cirrhosis显示文摘Kallistatin,which protects organs and cells against inflammation,fibrosis and oxidative stress,is mainly synthesized and secreted in liver.However,its relationship to human liver disease remains unclear.The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between serum kallistatin and clinical evidence of both cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC),and to determine if serum kallistatin levels could be used as a diagnostic indicator of hepatic health status,especially human liver cirrhosis(LC).Our cohort consisted of 115 patients with clinically proven liver fibrosis(LF),LC,or HCC by liver biopsies,and 31 healthy controls(CON).Serum kallistatin levels were quantified by ELISA.Results of the present study demonstrated that irrespective of the underlying etiology,serum kallistatin levels were significantly lower in the LF/LC group when compared with the CON group.A decrease in serum kallistatin levels appeared to reflect the extent of cirrhosis,with the lowest levels associated with higher grades of cirrhosis.Patients with LC had a noticeable correlation between serum kallistatin levels and other serum biochemical indicators.The area under the curve(AUC) for LC,viral liver cirrhosis(VLC)and alcoholic liver cirrhosis(ALC) was 0.845,0.757 and 0.931,respectively.In conclusion,our findingsdemonstrated that kallistatin,a plasma protein produced by the liver,can be a useful and reliable diagnostic indicator of hepatic health status,especially for LC.Zhiyun Cheng Yinghui Lv Suqiu Pang Ruyu Bai Mingxi Wang Shuyu Lin Tianwen Xu Duncan Spalding Nagy Habib Ruian Xu 2015Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2015,5,3:7

18Development and utilization of a new chemically-induced soybean library with a high mutation density显示文摘Mutagenized populations have provided important materials for introducing variation and identifying gene function in plants. In this study, an ethyl methanesulfonate(EMS)-induced soybean(Glycine max) population,consisting of 21,600 independent M_2 lines, was developed.Over 1,000 M_(4(5))families, with diverse abnormal phenotypes for seed composition, seed shape, plant morphology and maturity that are stably expressed across different environments and generations were identified. Phenotypic analysis of the population led to the identification of a yellow pigmentation mutant, gyl, that displayed significantly decreased chlorophyll(Chl) content and abnormal chloroplast development. Sequence analysis showed that gyl is allelic to Minn Gold, where a different single nucleotide polymorphism variation in the Mg-chelatase subunit gene(ChlI1a) results in golden yellow leaves. A cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence marker was developed and may be applied to marker-assisted selection for the golden yellow phenotype in soybean breeding. 20Effect of Wuziyanzong pill on levels of sex hormones, and expressions of nuclear- associated antigen Ki-67 and androgen receptor in testes of young rats显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effects of Wuziyanzong pill on the levels of serum follicle stimulating hormone(FSH), luteinizing hormone(LH), testosterone(T) and the expressions of nuclear-associated antigen Ki67(Ki67), androgen receptor(AR) in testes of young rats.METHODS: Sixteen 20-day-old Wistar male rats were randomly divided into control and treatment group(n = 8). Rats in treatment group were administered Wuziyanzong pill by gavage; rats in control group administered the same volume of saline. After 10 days of treatment, the rats were killed, and then serum and testes were taken. The levels of FSH, LH and T were measured by radioimmunoassay(RIA). The histology of seminiferous tubule was observed by hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining. The expression of Ki67 was detected by immunohistochemical assay(IHC). The m RNA level of Ki67, ARand CK-18 was detected with quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction(Q-RT-PCR), the protein level of AR and CK-18 were tested by Western blot.RESULTS: Compared with control group, T level in treatment group increased significantly(P < 0.05).HE staining showed that both leydig cells and germ cells increased in treatment group. Expressions of Ki67 and AR became higher after treatment.
