1One century sedimentary record of lead and zinc pollution in Yangzong Lake, a highland lake in southwestern China显示文摘Reconstruction of trace metal pollution histories and sources may help us to regulate current pollutant discharge. This is especially important for the highland lakes in southwestern China, which are facing trace metals pollution. We present sedimentary records of 11 metals accumulated in Yangzong Lake since the 1870's, a highland lake in southwestern China. Pollution of lead and zinc (Pb and Zn) was differentiated based on principal component analysis, geochemical normalization, and lead isotope ratios. Nearly all the metals as well as grain size composition show generally constant values before the mid-1980's, denoting stable detrital input in the catchment. Fluctuations in the concentrations of the metals as well as grain size composition since the mid-1980's indicate an increase in soil erosion with strengthened human disturbance in the catchment. After geochemical normalization, Pb and Zn showed constant values before 1990 AD and then a gradual increase in parallel with the variations in 208Pb/206Pb and 207Pb/206Pb ratios, indicating that Pb and Zn pollution occurred. Combining the data of 208Pb/206Pb and 207Pb/206Pb ratios in the sediments of Yangzong Lake, leaded gasoline, Pb-Zn ore and coal, and consumption or production historical trends, we deduced that the enhanced Pb and Zn pollution in Yangzong Lake is caused primarily by ore mining and refining.Enlou Zhang Enfeng Liu Ji Shen Yanmin Cao Yanling Li 2012Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,7:7
2Effectiveness of Catch-Up Vaccinations after COVID-19 Containment--China,2020显示文摘Introduction:In the early stages of the coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)epidemic in China,the highest level of public health emergency response(Level 1 Response)was launched in all province-level administrative divisions(PLADs)across the country.Provision of vaccination services was selectively suspended due to the physical distancing and gathering restrictions required of Level 1 Response.The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the impact of COVID-19 on vaccination services and the effectiveness of selective vaccination service suspension and catch-up vaccinations in China.Methods:Vaccine doses administered,routine vaccination coverage levels,catch-up vaccine doses administered,and coverage levels after the catch-up campaign were determined from individual vaccination records in sampled clinics,standard routine immunization administrative coverage reports,and catch-up vaccination activity reports submitted by PLADs between October 2019 and October 2020.Results:National Immunization Program(NIP)and non-NIP vaccine doses administered in sampled clinics decreased by 80% and 90%,respectively,compared with doses administered before the COVID-19 pandemic.Coverage with the birth dose of hepatitis B vaccine(HepB1)and the Bacillus Calmette-Guérin vaccine(BCG)—two vaccinations recommended to continue throughout the epidemic due to their timecritical nature—were maintained at over 85%,while coverage of other NIP vaccines decreased to below 60%by February 2020.Catch-up vaccination coverage of the 29 PLADs,excluding Xinjiang and Xizang(Tibet),began in April 2020 and exceeded 90%;Hubei catch-up coverage was 95% by October 2020.Conclusions and Implications for Public Health Practice:The COVID-19 pandemic had a great impact on China’s vaccination services.During the epidemic and time of local transmission of the coronavirus,HepB1,BCG,rabies vaccine for postexposure prophylaxis,and tetanus antitoxin(TAT)for wound prophylaxis were maintained at high levels.Of the 69 million vaccine doses postponed during the time of local transmission of the coronavirus,94% were administered in the catch-up campaign.China’s pandemic immunization practices may provide evidence for other countries’immunization programs.Jing Wu Wenzhou Yu Lei Cao Lingsheng Cao Lance Rodewald Jiakai Ye Yifan Song Li Li Xiaoxue Liu Ning Wen Fuzhen Wang Lixin Hao Yixing Li Hui Zheng Keli Li Chao Ma Dan Wu Yanmin Liu Guomin Zhang Zhijie An Huaqing Wang Zundong Yin 2020China CDC weekly2020,2,50:6
3Spatially Different Nutrient Histories Recorded by Multiple Cores and Implications for Management in Taihu Lake, Eastern China显示文摘The Taihu Lake,a large shallow lake in the floodplain of the Changjiang(Yangtze) River in the eastern China,is faced with challenging ecological problems resulting from eutrophication,which has affected the regional freshwater supply of a large population.Although efforts have been made to assess the nutrient evolution histories in the northern bays,little is known regarding nutrient histories in different parts across the entire lake basin.In this paper,we present nutrient histories for different parts of the lake based on chironomid transfer functions applied to four short cores obtained from the northern,western and eastern regions of the lake.The chironomid-inferred total phosphorus(CI-TP) concentrations were compared with the phosphorus concentrations obtained by using instrumental and sedimentary data.The results suggest that trophic evolution histories were asynchronous throughout the lake during the past decades in response to different ecological regimes controlled by the nutrient input,wind direction and shoreline topography.The restoration of aquatic plants may be an effective option for the management of lake rehabilitation to ′natural′ conditions.Given the multiple factors controlling the biotic communities in such a large and complex lake,combined analyses among the multi-proxies encountered in the sediments are necessary for comprehensive insight into paleolimnological studies.The spatial heterogeneity in the ecological trajectories within this complicated ecosystem suggests that different management practices should be undertaken for specific lake zones in the Taihu Lake.CAO Yanmin ZHANG Enlou Peter LANGDON LIU Enfeng SHEN Ji 2013Chinese Geographical Science2013,23,5:2

8Clinical and genetic analysis of two Chinese families with benign familial neonatal convulsions显示文摘Benign familial neonatal convulsions (BFNC) is a rare autosomal dominant inherited epilepsy syndrome. Two voltage-gated potassium channel genes, KCNQ2 and KCNQ3, have been identified as the genes responsible for BFNC. Here we report two Chinese families with clinical histories of typical BFNC. Using six microsatellite markers, two located at KCNQ2 locus and four at KCNQ3 locus, linkage analysis was performed in the two families, which excluded the linkage of BFNC to KCNQ3, but could not exclude the linkage to KCNQ2. Direct DNA sequencing of the KCNQ2 gene in the two families was performed, and two formerly unknown polymorphisms were identified, but no KCNQ2 mutation was found in the two families. 9High efficiently harvesting visible light and vibration energy in(1−x)AgNbO_(3)-xLiTaO_(3) solid solution around antiferroelectric-ferroelectric phase boundary for dye degradation显示文摘Simultaneously employing light and vibration energy by piezoelectric material to realize environmental remediation is an advanced oxidation method.Silver niobate(AgNbO_(3))is a visible light driven photocatalyst for the removal of organic pollutants.However,the high recombination rate of photo-generated electrons and holes suppresses its photocatalytic activity.Piezoelectric potential excited by vibration can facilitate the separation of light induced charges.Unfortunately,AgNbO_(3) is an antiferroelectric.In this work,distinct photo-/vibration-bi-catalysis has been achieved in ferroelectric(1−x)AgNbO_(3)-xLiTaO_(3) solid solution.The results show that ~96% Rhodamine B(RhB)can be decomposed under the bi-excitation of ultrasound and visible light within 120 min with 0.95AgNbO_(3)-0.05LiTaO_(3) catalyst.The synergy effect from efficient visible light excitation and enhanced separation of the photo-induced charges from the electric field by the mechanical strain results in the distinct decomposition performance of catalysts.Tufeng HE Zhenzhu CAO Guorong LI Yanmin JIA Biaolin PENG 2022Journal of Advanced Ceramics2022,11,10:0
10Exploration of a Sequential Gp140-Gp145 Immunization Regimen with Heterologous Envs to Induce a Protective Cross-Reactive HIV Neutralizing Antibody Response In Non-human Primates显示文摘Raising a heterologous tier 2 neutralizing antibody(nAb)response remains a daunting task for HIV vaccine development.In this study,we explored the utility of diverse HIV-1 envelope(Env)immunogens in a sequential immunization scheme as a solution to this task.This exploration stemmed from the rationale that gp145,a membrane-bound truncation form of HIV Env,may facilitate the focusing of induced antibody response on neutralizing epitopes when sequentially combined with the soluble gp140 form as immunogens in a prime-boost mode.We first showed that gp140 DNA prime-gp145 Tiantan vaccinia(TV)boost likely represents a general format for inducing potent nAb response in mice.However,when examined in rhesus macaque,this modality showed little effectiveness.To improve the efficacy,we extended the original modality by adding a strong protein boost,namely native-like SOSIP.664 trimer displayed on ferritin-based nanoparticle(NP),which was generated by a newly developed click approach.The resulting three-immunization regimen succeeded in eliciting tier-2 nAb response with substantial breadth when implemented in rhesus macaque over a short 8-week schedule.Importantly,the elicited nAb response was able to effectively contain viremia upon a heterologous SHIV challenge.Collectively,our studies highlighted that diversification of Env immunogens,in both types and formulations,under the framework of a sequential immunization scheme might open new opportunity toward HIV vaccine development.Xiangqing Ding Kangli Cao Jing Wang Yanmin Wan Qinyun Chen Yanqin Ren Yongtang Zheng Mingzhao Zhu Renrong Tian Wenjun Wang Chen Zhao Xiaoyan Zhang Jianqing Xu 2021Virologica Sinica2021,36,4:0
11Nonconforming Mixed FEM Analysis for Multi-Term Time-Fractional Mixed Sub-Diffusion and Diffusion-Wave Equation with Time-Space Coupled Derivative显示文摘The main contents of this paper are to establish a finite element fully-discrete approximate scheme for multi-term time-fractional mixed sub-diffusion and diffusionwave equation with spatial variable coefficient,which contains a time-space coupled derivative.The nonconforming EQ^(rot)_(1)element and Raviart-Thomas element are employed for spatial discretization,and L1 time-stepping method combined with the Crank-Nicolson scheme are applied for temporal discretization.Firstly,based on some significant lemmas,the unconditional stability analysis of the fully-discrete scheme is acquired.With the assistance of the interpolation operator I_(h)and projection operator Rh,superclose and convergence results of the variable u in H^(1)-norm and the flux~p=k_(5)(x)ru(x,t)in L^(2)-norm are obtained,respectively.Furthermore,the global superconvergence results are derived by applying the interpolation postprocessing technique.Finally,the availability and accuracy of the theoretical analysis are corroborated by experimental results of numerical examples on anisotropic meshes.Fangfang Cao Yanmin Zhao Fenling Wang Yanhua Shi Changhui Yao 2023Advances in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics2023,15,2:0
