| 1 | Pollen-inferred vegetation and environmental changes since 16.7 ka BP at Balikun Lake, Xinjiang显示文摘A high-resolution fossil pollen record from the sedimentary cores of Balikun Lake, northwestern China, combined with modern surface pollen data, is used to reconstruct the history of vegetation and climatic change since 16.7 cal. ka BP. Fossil pollen assem-blages and lithology indicate that the study area was dominated by desert. The desert had extremely arid climate and lower effec-tive moisture during 16.7–7.9 cal. ka BP, especially from 16.7 to 8.9 cal. ka BP when the lake maybe dried up. During 8.9–7.9 cal. ka BP, the environment gradually recovered in this area. It was then followed by the optimum period from 7.9 to 4.3 cal. Ka BP, when the effective moisture obviously increased. It was characterized by the typical desert-steppe/steppe vegetation and was ac-companied with several patch-birch woodlands around the lake. After that, a short but extremely arid climatic event occurred during 4.3–3.8 cal. ka BP, and the vegetation quickly changed from desert-steppe/steppe to desert. It was a relatively optimum period from 3.8 to 0.53 cal. ka BP showing typical desert-steppe/meadow-steppe landscape. Since 0.53 cal. ka BP, the climate has shown signs of deteriorating again. Furthermore, regional comparison shows that the characteristics of climatic and environmental evolution in this area were clearly different from East Asia monsoonal area during the last 16.7 cal. ka BP. | 3 | Twistor-based synchronous sliding mode control of spacecraft attitude and position显示文摘A synchronous control of relative attitude and position is required in separated ultraquiet spacecraft, such as drag-free, disturbance-free, and distributed spacecraft. Thus, a twistorbased synchronous sliding mode control is investigated in this paper to solve the control problem of relative attitude and position among separated spacecraft modules. The twistor-based control design and the stability proof are implemented using the Modified Rodrigues Parameter(MRP).To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed control method, this paper presents a case study of separated spacecraft flying control considering the mass uncertainty and external disturbances. In addition, a simulation study of the Proportional-Derivative(PD) control is also presented for comparison. The results indicate that the twistor-based sliding mode controller can ensure global asymptotic stability. The states converge fast with ultra-precision and ultra-stability in both the attitude and position. | 6 | Interacting plexcitons for designed ultrafast optical nonlinearity in a monolayer semiconductor显示文摘Searching for ideal materials with strong effective optical nonlinear responses is a long-term task enabling remarkable breakthroughs in contemporary quantum and nonlinear optics.Polaritons,hybridized light-matter quasiparticles,are an appealing candidate to realize such nonlinearities.Here,we explore a class of peculiar polaritons,named plasmon–exciton polaritons(plexcitons),in a hybrid system composed of silver nanodisk arrays and monolayer tungsten-disulfide(WS2),which shows giant room-temperature nonlinearity due to their deep-subwavelength localized nature.Specifically,comprehensive ultrafast pump–probe measurements reveal that plexciton nonlinearity is dominated by the saturation and higher-order excitation-induced dephasing interactions,rather than the well-known exchange interaction in traditional microcavity polaritons.Furthermore,we demonstrate this giant nonlinearity can be exploited to manipulate the ultrafast nonlinear absorption properties of the solid-state system.Our findings suggest that plexcitons are intrinsically strongly interacting,thereby pioneering new horizons for practical implementations such as energy-efficient ultrafast all-optical switching and information processing. | Yuxiang Tang Yanbin Zhang Qirui Liu Ke Wei Xiang’ai Cheng Lei Shi Tian Jiang | 2022 | Light(Science & Applications)2022,11,5: | 2 |
