1Chinese deserts and sand fields in Last Glacial Maximum and Holocene Optimum显示文摘The Last Glacial Maximum (LGM, c. 26-16 ka) and the Holocene Optimum (HO, c. 9-5 ka) were characterized by cold-dry and warm-wet climates respectively in the recently geological Earth. How Chinese deserts and sand fields responded to these distinctive climatic changes is still not clear, however. To reconstruct environments of the deserts and sand fields during the LGM and HO is helpful to understand the forcing mechanisms of environment change in this arid region, and to test paleoclimatic modeling results. Through our long-term field and laboratory investigations, 400 optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) ages and more than 100 depositional records in the Chinese deserts and sand fields were obtained; on the basis of these data, we reconstruct spatial distributions of the deserts and sand fields during the LGM and HO. Our results show that the sand fields of Mu Us, Hunshandake, Horqin and Hulun Buir in northern and northeastern China had expanded 25%, 37%, 38% and 270%, respectively, during the LGM; the sand fields of Gonghe in the northeastern Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau had expanded 20%, and the deserts of Badain Jaran, Tengger in central northern China had expanded 39% and 29% separately during the LGM; the deserts of Taklimakan, Gurbantünggüt and Kumtag in northwestern China had expanded 10%-20% respectively, compared to their modern areas. On the other hand, all of the sand fields were nearly completely covered by vegetation during the HO; the deserts in northwestern and central northern China were reduced by around 5%-20% in area during this time. Lakes in this arid region were probably expanded during the HO but this conclusion needs more investigation. Compared with the geological distributions of deserts and sand fields, human activity has clearly changed (expanded) the area of active sand dunes at the present time. 2Kinetics of simultaneous leaching of Ag and Pb from hydrometallurgical zinc residues by chloride显示文摘The leaching kinetics of silver and lead simultaneously from zinc residue by chloride was investigated.The effects of stirring speed,temperature,sodium chloride concentration,particle size and liquid/solid ratio on Ag and Pb dissolution in sodium chloride were studied.It was determined that the dissolution rates increased with increasing sodium chloride concentration,temperature and decreasing particle size.The dissolution kinetics followed a shrinking core model,with inter-diffusion through gangue layer as the rate determining step.This finding is in accordance with the apparent activation energy(E_a) of 26.8 kJ·mol^(-1)(Ag) and 26.5 kJ·mol^(-1)(Pb),and a linear relationship between the rate constant and the reciprocal of squared particle size.The orders of reaction with respect to sodium chloride concentration,temperature and particle size were also achieved.The rate of reaction based on diffusion-controlled process can be expressed by semi-empirical equations.Zhang, Yali Yu, Xianjin Li, Xiaobin 2012Rare Metals2012,31,4:10

5Significantly Enhanced Electromagnetic Interference Shielding Performances of Epoxy Nanocomposites with Long-Range Aligned Lamellar Structures显示文摘High-efficiency electromagnetic interference(EMI)shielding materials are of great importance for electronic equipment reliability,information security and human health.In this work,bidirectional aligned Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)@Fe_(3)O_(4)/CNF aerogels(BTFCA)were firstly assembled by bidirectional freezing and freeze-drying technique,and the BTFCA/epoxy nanocomposites with long-range aligned lamellar structures were then prepared by vacuum-assisted impregnation of epoxy resins.Benefitting from the successful construction of bidirectional aligned three-dimensional conductive networks and electromagnetic synergistic effect,when the mass fraction of Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) and Fe_(3)O_(4) are 2.96 and 1.48 wt%,BTFCA/epoxy nanocomposites show outstanding EMI shield-ing effectiveness of 79 dB,about 10 times of that of blended Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x)@Fe_(3)O_(4)/epoxy(8 dB)nanocomposites with the same loadings of Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) and Fe_(3)O_(4).Meantime,the corresponding BTFCA/epoxy nanocomposites also present excellent thermal stability(T_(heat-resistance index) of 198.7℃)and mechanical properties(storage modulus of 9902.1 MPa,Young’s modulus of 4.51 GPa and hardness of 0.34 GPa).Our fabricated BTFCA/epoxy nanocomposites would greatly expand the applications of MXene and epoxy resins in the fields of information security,aerospace and weapon manufacturing,etc.Lei Wang Zhonglei Ma Hua Qiu Yali Zhang Ze Yu Junwei Gu 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,12:4
6On the Influences of Urbanization on the Extreme Rainfall over Zhengzhou on 20 July 2021: A Convection-Permitting Ensemble Modeling Study显示文摘This study investigates the influences of urban land cover on the extreme rainfall event over the Zhengzhou city in central China on 20 July 2021 using the Weather Research and Forecasting model at a convection-permitting scale[1-km resolution in the innermost domain(d3)].Two ensembles of simulation(CTRL,NURB),each consisting of 11 members with a multi-layer urban canopy model and various combinations of physics schemes,were conducted using different land cover scenarios:(i)the real urban land cover,(ii)all cities in d3 being replaced with natural land cover.The results suggest that CTRL reasonably reproduces the spatiotemporal evolution of rainstorms and the 24-h rainfall accumulation over the key region,although the maximum hourly rainfall is underestimated and displaced to the west or southwest by most members.The ensemble mean 24-h rainfall accumulation over the key region of heavy rainfall is reduced by 13%,and the maximum hourly rainfall simulated by each member is reduced by 15–70 mm in CTRL relative to NURB.The reduction in the simulated rainfall by urbanization is closely associated with numerous cities/towns to the south,southeast,and east of Zhengzhou.Their heating effects jointly lead to formation of anomalous upward motions in and above the planetary boundary layer(PBL),which exaggerates the PBL drying effect due to reduced evapotranspiration and also enhances the wind stilling effect due to increased surface friction in urban areas.As a result,the lateral inflows of moisture and high-θe(equivalent potential temperature)air from south and east to Zhengzhou are reduced.Yali LUO Jiahua ZHANG Miao YU Xudong LIANG Rudi XIA Yanyu GAO Xiaoyu GAO Jinfang YIN 2023Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2023,40,3:4
7Characteristics of the coseismic geomagnetic disturbances recorded during the 2008 M_w 7.9 Wenchuan Earthquake and two unexplained problems显示文摘Twenty-seven FHDZ-M15 combined geomagnetic observation systems(each of which is equipped with a fluxgate magnetometer and a proton magnetometer)had been installed in the China geomagnetic network before the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake,during which coseismic disturbances were recorded by 26 fluxgate magnetometer observatories.The geomagnetic disturbances have similar spatial and temporal patterns to seismic waves,except for various delays.Six proton magnetometer observatories recorded coseismic disturbances with very small amplitudes.In addition,fluxgate magnetometers registered largeamplitude disturbances that are likely to have included responses to seismic waves.However,two problems remain unresolved.First,why do these geomagnetic disturbances always arrive later than P waves?Second,why do the geomagnetic disturbances have spatial and temporal directivity similar to the main rupture direction of the earthquake?Solving these two problems may be crucial to find the mechanism responsible for generating these geomagnetic anomalies.YaLi Wang Tao Xie YanRu An Chong Yue JiuYang Wang Chen Yu Li Yao Jun Lu 2019Earth and Planetary Physics2019,3,5:4

10Exploiting Effective Facial Patches for Robust Gender Recognition显示文摘Gender classification is an important task in automated face analysis. Most existing approaches for gender classification use only raw/aligned face images after face detection as input. These methods exhibit fair classification ability under constrained conditions, in which face images are acquired under similar illumination with similar poses. The performances of these methods may deteriorate when face images show drastic variances in poses and occlusion as routinely encountered in real-world data. The reduction in the performances of current gender classification methods may be attributed to the sensitiveness of features to image translations. This work proposes to alleviate this sensitivity by introducing a majority voting procedure that involves multiple face patches.Specifically, this work utilizes a deep learning method based on multiple large patches. Several Convolutional Neural Networks(CNN) are trained on individual, predefined patches that reflect various image resolutions and partial cropping. The decisions of each CNN are aggregated through majority voting to obtain the final gender classification accurately. Extensive experiments are conducted on four gender classification databases, including Labeled Face in-the-Wild(LFW), CelebA, ColorFeret, and All-Age Faces database, a novel database collected by our group. Each individual patch is evaluated, and complementary patches are selected for voting. We show that the classification accuracy of our method is comparable with that of state-of-the-art systems. 11Ground-Based Radar Reflectivity Mosaic of Mei-yu Precipitation Systems over the Yangtze River–Huaihe River Basins显示文摘The 3D radar reflectivity produced by a mosaic software system, with measurements from 29 operational weather radars in the Yangtze River–Huaihe River Basins(YRHRB) during the mei-yu season of 2007, is compared to coincident TRMM PR observations in order to evaluate the value of the ground-based radar reflectivity mosaic in characterizing the 3D structures of mei-yu precipitation. Results show reasonable agreement in the composite radar reflectivity between the two datasets,with a correlation coefficient of 0.8 and a mean bias of -1 dB. The radar mosaic data at constant altitudes are reasonably consistent with the TRMM PR observations in the height range of 2–5 km, revealing essentially the same spatial distribution of radar echo and nearly identical histograms of reflectivity. However, at altitudes above 5 km, the mosaic data overestimate reflectivity and have slower decreasing rates with height compared to the TRMM PR observations. The areas of convective and stratiform precipitation, based on the mosaic reflectivity distribution at 3-km altitude, are highly correlated with the corresponding regions in the TRMM products, with correlation coefficients of 0.92 and 0.97 and mean relative differences of -7.9% and -2.5%, respectively. 12VUV photoluminescence properties of KSrPO4:Dy^3+ phosphor显示文摘White-light-emitting phosphors based on phosphate host matrix, KSrPO_4 doped with Dy^(3+), were prepared by solid state reaction and their VUV luminescent properties were firstly investigated. The excitation band peaking at 125-153 nm corresponding to the absorption of PO_4^(3-) group exhibits very strong absorption. 13Genetically modified CD7-targeting allogeneic CAR-T cell therapy with enhanced efficacy for relapsed/refractory CD7-positive hematological malignancies:a phase I clinical study显示文摘Chimeric antigen receptor(CAR)-T cell therapy against T cell malignancies faces major challenges including fratricide between CAR-T cells and product contamination from the blasts.Allogeneic CAR-T cells,generated from healthy donor T cells,can provide ready-to-use,blast-free therapeutic products,but their application could be complicated by graft-versus-host disease(GvHD)and host rejection.Here we developed healthy donor-derived,CD7-targeting CAR-T cells(RD13-01)with genetic modifications to resist fratricide,GvHD and allogeneic rejection,as well as to potentiate antitumor function.A phase I clinical trial(NCT04538599)was conducted with twelve patients recruited(eleven with T cell leukemia/lymphoma,and one with CD7-expressing acute myeloid leukemia).All patients achieved pre-set end points and eleven proceeded to efficacy evaluation.No dose-limiting toxicity,GvHD,immune effector cell-associated neurotoxicity or severe cytokine release syndrome(grade≥3)were observed.28 days post infusion,81.8%of patients(9/11)showed objective responses and the complete response rate was 63.6%(7/11,including the patient with AML).3 of the responding patients were bridged to allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.With a median follow-up of 10.5 months,4 patients remained in complete remission.Cytomegalovirus(CMV)and/or Epstein-Barr virus(EBV)reactivation was observed in several patients,and one died from EBV-associated diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL).Expansion of CD7-negative normal T cells was detected post infusion.In summary,we present the first report of a Phase I clinical trial using healthy donor-derived CD7-targeting allogeneic CAR-T cells to treat CD7^(+)hematological malignancies.Our results demonstrated the encouraging safety and efficacy profiles of the RD13-01 allogeneic CAR-T cells for CD7^(+)tumors.Yongxian Hu Yali Zhou Mingming Zhang Houli Zhao Guoqing Wei Wengang Ge Qu Cui Qitian Mu Gong Chen Lu Han Tingting Guo Jiazhen Cui Xiaoyan Jiang Xiujun Zheng Shuhui Yu Xiaolong Li Xingwang Zhang Mingxi Chen Xiuju Li Ming Gao Kang Wang Cheng Zu Hao Zhang Xiaohong He Yanbin Wang Dongrui Wang Jiangtao Ren He Huang 2022Cell Research2022,32,11:2
14Intra-strain Elicitation and Suppression of Plant Immunity by Ralstonia solanacearum Type-III Effectors in Nicotiana benthamiana显示文摘Effector proteins delivered inside plant cells are powerful weapons for bacterial pathogens,but this exposes the pathogen to potential recognition by the plant immune system.Therefore,the effector repertoire of a given pathogen must be balanced for a successful infection.Ralstonia solanacearum is an aggressive pathogen with a large repertoire of secreted effectors.One of these effectors,RipE1,is conserved in most R.solanacearum strains sequenced to date.In this work,we found that RipE1 triggers immunity in N.benthamiana,which requires the immune regulator SGT1,but not EDS1 or NRCs.Interestingly,RipE1-triggered immunity induces the accumulation of salicylic acid(SA)and the overexpression of several genes encoding phenylalanine-ammonia lyases(PALs),suggesting that the unconventional PALmediated pathway is responsible for the observed SA biosynthesis.Surprisingly,RipE1 recognition also induces the expression of jasmonic acid(JA)-responsive genes and JA biosynthesis,suggesting that both SA and JA may act cooperatively in response to RipE1.We further found that RipE1 expression leads to the accumulation of glutathione in plant cells,which precedes the activation of immune responses.R.solanacearum secretes another effector,RipAY,which is known to inhibit immune responses by degrading cellular glutathione.Accordingly,RipAY inhibits RipE1-triggered immune responses.This work shows a strategy employed by R.solanacearum to counteract the perception of its effector proteins by plant immune system.Yuying Sang Wenjia Yu Haiyan Zhuang Yali Wei Lida Derevnina Gang Yu Jiamin Luo Alberto P.Macho 2020Plant Communications2020,1,4:2

17Dynamic Microwave-Assisted Extraction of Total Ginsenosides from Ginseng Fibrous Roots显示文摘A dynamic microwave-assisted extraction(DMAE) method is established for the extraction of total ginsenosides from ginseng fibrous roots. The extraction process has been simulated and its main affection factors(liquid/solid ratio K of solvent to ginseng powders(V/m), irradiation time, irradiation temperature, extracting solution concentration, flow rate of solvent and microwave power) have been optimized by response surface methodology(RSM). The optimum conditions of extraction are the liquid/solid ratio of 270 m L/g, the extraction temperature of 75 ℃, the extraction time of 35 min, ethanol concentration of 70%(V/V), the solvent flow rate of 1.3 m L/min, and the microwave power of 500 W. The yield of ginsenosides obtained by the proposed DAME method is(15.0±0.7) %, which is well agreement with the yield predicted by the model. 19Using a global reference sample set and a cropland map for area estimation in China显示文摘A technically transparent and freely available reference sample set for validation of global land cover mapping was recently established to assess the accuracies of land cover maps with multiple resolutions.This sample set can be used to estimate areas because of its equal-area hexagon-based sampling design.The capabilities of these sample set-based area estimates for cropland were investigated in this paper.A 30-m cropland map for China was consolidated using three thematic maps(cropland,forest and wetland maps)to reduce confusion between cropland and forest/wetland.We compared three area estimation methods using the sample set and the 30 m cropland map.The methods investigated were:(1)pixel counting from a complete coverage map,(2)direct estimation from reference samples,and(3)model-assisted estimation combining the map with samples.Our results indicated that all three methods produced generally consistent estimates which agreed with cropland area measured from an independent national land use dataset.Areas estimated from the reference sample set were less biased by comparing with a National Land Use Dataset of China(NLUD-C).This study indicates that the reference sample set can be used as an alternative source to estimate areas over large regions.YULe LI XueCao LI CongCong ZHAO YuanYuan NIU ZhenGuo HUANG HuaBing WANG Jie CHENG YuQi LU Hui SI YaLi YU ChaoQing FU HaoHuan GONG Peng 2017Science China Earth Sciences2017,60,2:1
20Key Technology for Liquid Spawn Production and Green and High-yield Cultivation of Pleurotus eryngii显示文摘[Objectives]Pleurotus eryngii is currently the second largest edible fungus variety cultivated in China,and it mainly adopts the bag cultivation mode.This study aims to effectively solve the problems of high cost of solid spawn,long spawn production cycle,low application level of green and high-yield cultivation technology and equipment,and unstable output and quality in the factory production process and to further promote industrial upgrading.[Methods]Since June,2018,a series of research and technical optimizations had been carried out by a technical research team consisting of personnels from Vegetable Office of Guannan County,Institute of Edible Fungi of Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Jiangsu Xiangru Biotechnology Co.,Ltd.,around the production of liquid spawn,introduction of excellent varieties of P.eryngii,medium pretreatment,autoclaving,clean room inoculation,digital cultivation,harvesting,packaging,etc.[Results]The key technology of industrial production,liquid spawn production and green and high-yield cultivation of P.eryngii are summarized.[Conclusions]The economic benefit of liquid spawn of P.eryngii is extremely considerable compared with liquid spawns such as branch spawn.Yali ZHANG Shuguang ZHAO Yu LI Zhengpeng LI Cuie ZHANG Xiaotao SUN 2020Asian Agricultural Research2020,12,7:1
