1Exercise as a prescription for patients with various diseases显示文摘A growing understanding of the benefits of exercise over the past few decades has prompted researchers to take an interest in the possibilities of exercise therapy.Because each sport has its own set of characteristics and physiological complications that tend to occur during exercise training,the effects and underlying mechanisms of exercise remain unclear.Thus,the first step in probing the effects of exercise on different diseases is the selection of an optimal exercise protocol.This review summarizes the latest exercise prescription treatments for 26 different diseases:musculoskeletal system diseases(low back pain,tendon injury,osteoporosis,osteoarthritis,and hip fracture),metabolic system diseases(obesity,type 2 diabetes,type 1 diabetes,and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease),cardio-cerebral vascular system diseases(coronary artery disease,stroke,and chronic heart failure),nervous system diseases(Parkinson’s disease,Huntington’s disease,Alzheimer’s disease,depression,and anxiety disorders),respiratory system diseases(chronic obstructive pulmonary disease,interstitial lung disease,and after lung transplantation),urinary system diseases(chronic kidney disease and after kidney transplantation),and cancers(breast cancer,colon cancer,prostate cancer,and lung cancer).Each exercise prescription is displayed in a corresponding table.The recommended type,intensity,and frequency of exercise prescriptions are summarized,and the effects of exercise therapy on the prevention and rehabilitation of different diseases are discussed.Xin Luan Xiangyang Tian Haixin Zhang Rui Huang Na Li Peijie Chen Ru Wang 2019Journal of Sport and Health Science2019,8,5:61

6Biofilm-inspired adhesive and antibacterial hydrogel with tough tissue integration performance for sealing hemostasis and wound healing显示文摘Uncontrolled bleeding and infection can cause significant increases in mortalities.Hydrogel sealants have attracted extensive attention for their ability to control bleeding.However,because interfacial water is a formidable barrier to strong surface bonding,a challenge remains in finding a product that offers robust tissue adhesion combined with anti-infection properties.Inspired by the strong adhesive mechanism of biofilm and mussels,we report a novel dual bionic adhesive hydrogel(DBAH)based on chitosan grafted with methacrylate(CS-MA),dopamine(DA),and N-hydroxymethyl acrylamide(NMA)via a facile radical polymerization process.CS-MA and DA were simultaneously included in the adhesive polymer for imitating the two key adhesive components:polysaccharide intercellular adhesin(PIA)of staphylococci biofilm and 3,4-dihydroxy-L-phenylalanine(Dopa)of mussel foot protein,respectively.DBAH presented strong adhesion at 34 kPa even upon three cycles of full immersion in water and was able to withstand up to 168 mm Hg blood pressure,which is significantly higher than the 60–160 mm Hg measured in most clinical settings.Most importantly,these hydrogels presented outstanding hemostatic capability under wet and dynamic in vivo movements while displaying excellent antibacterial properties and biocompatibility.Therefore,DBAH represents a promising class of biomaterials for high-efficiency hemostasis and wound healing.Wei Han Bo Zhou Kai Yang Xin Xiong Shifang Luan Yu Wang Zheng Xu Peng Lei Zhengshan Luo Jian Gao Yijing Zhan Guopu Chen Lei Liang Rui Wang Sha Li Hong Xu 2020Bioactive Materials2020,5,4:6
7Bruceine D inhibits HIF-1α-mediated glucose metabolism in hepatocellular carcinoma by blocking ICAT/β-catenin interaction显示文摘Hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths,characterized by highly hypoxic tumor microenvironment.Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α(HIF-1α)is a major regulator involved in cellular response to changes of oxygen levels,supporting the adaptation of tumor cells to hypoxia.Bruceine D(BD)is an isolated natural quassinoid with multiple anti-cancer effects.Here,we identified BD could significantly inhibit the HIF-1α expression and its subsequently mediated HCC cell metabolism.Using biophysical proteomics approaches,we identified inhibitor of β-catenin and T-cell factor(ICAT)as the functional target of BD.By targeting ICAT,BD disrupted the interaction of bcatenin and ICAT,and promoted β-catenin degradation,which in turn induced the decrease of HIF-1α expression.Furthermore,BD could inhibit HCC cells proliferation and tumor growth in vivo,and knockdown of ICAT substantially increased resistance to BD treatment in vitro.Our data highlight the potential of BD as a modulator of β-catenin/HIF-1α axis mediated HCC metabolism.Rui Huang Lijun Zhang Jinmei Jin Yudong Zhou Hongwei Zhang Chao Lv Dong Lu Ye Wu Hong Zhang Sanhong Liu Hongzhuan Chen Xin Luan Weidong Zhang 2021Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2021,11,11:4
8Detection of EBV and HHV6 in the Brain Tissue of Patients with Rasmussen's Encephalitis显示文摘Rasmussen's encephalitis (RE) is a rare pediatric neurological disorder, and the exact etiology is not clear. Viral infection may be involved in the pathogenesis of RE, but conflicting results have reported. In this study, we evaluated the expression of both Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) and human herpes virus (HHV) 6 antigens in brain sections from 30 patients with RE and16 control individuals by immunohistochemistry. In the RE group, EBV and HHV6 antigens were detected in 56.7% (17/30) and 50% (15/30) of individuals, respectively. In contrast, no detectable EBV and HHV6 antigen expression was found in brain tissues of the control group. The co-expression of EBV and HHV6 was detected in 20.0% (6/30) of individuals. In particular, a 4-year-old boy had a typical clinical course, including a medical history of viral encephalitis,intractable epilepsy, and hemispheric atrophy. The co-expression of EBV and HHV6 was detected in neurons and astrocytes in the brain tissue, accompanied by a high frequency of CD8?T cells. 11Nematode-Encoded RALF Peptide Mimics Facilitate Parasitism of Plants through the FERONIA Receptor Kinase显示文摘The molecular mechanism by which plants defend against plant root-knot nematodes(RKNs)is largely unknown.The plant receptor kinase FERONIA and its peptide ligands,rapid alkalinization factors(RALFs),regulate plant immune responses and cell expansion,which are two important factors for successful RKN parasitism.In this study,we found that mutation of FERONIA in Arabidopsis thaliana resulted in plants showing low susceptibility to the RKN Meloidogyne incognita.To identify the underlying mechanisms associated with this phenomenon,we identified 18 novel RALF-likes from multiple species of RKNs and showed that two RALF-likes(i.e.,MiRALF1 and MiRALF3)from M.incognita were expressed in the esophageal gland with high expression during the parasitic stages of nematode development.These nematode RALF-likes also possess the typical activities of plant RALFs and can directly bind to the extracellular domain of FERONIA to modulate specific steps of nematode parasitism-related immune responses and cell expansion.Genetically,both MiRALF1/3 and FERONIA are required for RKN parasitism in Arabidopsis and rice.Collectively,our study suggests that nematode-encoded RALFs facilitate parasitism via plant-encoded FERONIA and provides a novel paradigm for studying host-pathogen interactions.Xin Zhang Huan Peng Sirui Zhu Junjie Xing Xin Li Zhaozhong Zhu Jingyuan Zheng Long Wang Bingqian Wang Jia Chen Zhenhua Ming Ke Yao Jinzhuo Jian Sheng Luan Devin Coleman-Derr Hongdong Liao Yousong Peng Deliang Peng Feng Yu 2020Molecular Plant2020,13,10:3
12Elevated expression of EBV and TLRs in the brain is associated with Rasmussen's encephalitis显示文摘Rasmussen's encephalitis(RE) is a rare pediatric neurological disorder, the etiology of which remains unclear. It has been speculated that the immunopathogenesis of RE involves damage to neurons, which eventually leads to the occurrence of RE. Viral infection may be a critical factor in triggering RE immunopathogenesis. In this study, we analyzed the expression of Epstein-Barr virus(EBV) antigens as well as of Toll-like receptor 3(TLR3), TLR9, and downstream adapter TIRdomain-containing adapter-inducing interferon-β(TRIF) in the brain tissues of 26 patients with RE and 16 control individuals using immunohistochemistry(IHC). In the RE group, EBV antigens were detected in 53% of individuals at various expression levels. In contrast, there was no detectable EBV antigen expression in control brain tissues. Moreover, we found marked increases in the expression of TLR3, TLR9, and TRIF in the brain tissues of RE patients compared with levels in the control group. Furthermore, among RE cases, EBV expression and high TLR3 expression were associated with more severe brain atrophy. 14Uncontrolled central hyperthermia by standard dose of bromocriptine:A case report显示文摘BACKGROUND Some patients present to the intensive care unit due to noninfectious pathologies resulting in fever,especially acute neurological injuries,including brain trauma and intracranial haemorrhage.The cause has been identified to be central hyperthermia characterized by a high core temperature and a poor response to antipyretics and antibiotics.However,no proper guidelines on how to treat central hyperthermia have been developed for clinical practice.CASE SUMMARY A 63-year-old woman was transferred to our hospital due to injury after a traffic accident.Eight hours after admission,her pupils enlarged bilaterally from 2.5 mm to 4.0 mm.She developed severe coma and underwent decompressive craniectomy.She was diagnosed with central hyperthermia after surgery and was prescribed bromocriptine.The standard dose of bromocriptine could not control her hyperpyrexia,and we prescribed 30 mg a day to control her temperature.CONCLUSION Bromocriptine may be effective in controlling central hyperthermia and have a dosage effect.Xin Ge Xue Luan 2020World Journal of Clinical Cases2020,8,23:2
15Ultrasound guided neural stem cell transplantation through the lateral ventricle for treatment of cerebral palsy in children显示文摘A total of 24 children with cerebral palsy were enrolled in this study and underwent ultrasound guided transplantation of neural stem cells through the lateral ventricle. Neural stem cells (3.8 × 106-7.3 × 107) were injected into the lateral ventricles. Mild injury of lateral ventricular blood vessels occurred in only two cases (8.3%). Seven cases (29.2%) experienced a fever. Clinical manifestations were improved to varying degrees in eight cases (28.0%) within 3 months after transplantation. 16Methods used for evaluation of volume retention rate in autologous fat grafting for breast augmentation: a systematic review显示文摘Background:Autologous fat grafting has gained popularity in breast augmentation.Various methods can be used to estimate the volume retention rate.This systematic review aimed to establish whether the type of method used for measuring breast volume is a factor that influences the reported volume retention rate.Methods:Studies were identified using the electronic databases PubMed,Embase,Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials,and Web of Science from inception of the database up to February 2019.Articles describing autologous fat grafting for breast augmentation were selected based on pre-determined inclusion and exclusion criteria.The characteristics of the included studies were summarized,and the reported volume retention rate from the studies was compared.A quality assessment of all included articles was performed using the methodological index for non-randomized studies criteria.Results:A total of 618 articles were identified,of which 12 studies,with a total of 1337 cases,were eligible.The retention rate of injected adipose tissue varied when the method of fat grafting and volume analysis used were both the same,as well as when the method of fat grafting was the same but the method of volumetric evaluation used was different.Conclusions:Currently,the tools available for estimating the volume retention rate come with limitations.In order to objectively evaluate the percentage of graft retention,a standard protocol that applies to the different methods should be established in the future.Cheng-Long Wang Si-Si Luan Adriana C.Panayi Min-Qiang Xin Jie Luan 2019Chinese Medical Journal2019,,18:2
17A Biomimetic Surface for Infection-resistance through Assembly of Metal-phenolic Networks显示文摘Despite the fact that numerous infection-resistant surfaces have been developed to prevent bacterial colonization and biofilm formation, developing a stable, highly antibacterial and easily produced surface remains a technical challenge. As a crucial structural component of biofilm, extracellular DNA(eDNA) can facilitate initial bacterial adhesion, subsequent development, and final maturation. Inspired by the mechanistic pathways of natural enzymes(deoxyribonuclease), here we report a novel antibacterial surface by employing cerium(Ce(Ⅳ)) ion to mimic theDNA-cleavage ability of natural enzymes. In this process, the coordination chemistry of plant polyphenols and metal ions was exploited to create an in situ metal-phenolic film on substrate surfaces. Tannic acid(TA) works as an essential scaffold and Ce(Ⅳ) ion acts as both a cross-linker and a destructor of eDNA. The Ce(Ⅳ)-TA modified surface exhibited highly enhanced bacteria repellency and biofilm inhibition when compared with those of pristine or Fe(Ⅲ)-TA modified samples. Moreover, the easily produced coatings showed high stability under physiological conditions and had nontoxicity to cells for prolonged periods of time. 18Application of confocal laser Raman spectroscopy on marine sediment microplastics显示文摘Marine sediment is the primary sink of microplastics and is an indicator of pollution levels.However,although there are well-developed detection methods,detection is rarely focused on lowmicrometer-sized particles,mainly due to technique limitations.In this study,a simplifi ed process omitting digestion procedures was developed to pretreat microplastics obtained from marine sediment and was coupled with micro-Raman spectroscopy to identify microplastics.Based on the overall analysis of the characteristic peak assignments,a Raman spectral reference library was constructed for 18 types of plastic.In addition,the eff ects of the measurement parameters were systematically described.Field research was then conducted to validate the developed process and investigate microplastic contamination in Huiquan Bay,Qingdao,China.This simplifi ed process could retain the original appearance of microparticles and accomplish the detection of<500μm-sized microplastics in environmental samples.Microplastics in the size range of 10-150μm accounted for 76%of all microplastics,and 56%of the total particles was particles smaller than 50μm.Polypropylene(42%)and polyethylene(20%)were predominant components of the particles.In particular,polypropylene particles smaller than 10μm were identifi ed in marine sediment.This work demonstrates that Raman spectroscopy is not only an eff ective tool for detecting environmental particles but also highly applicable for identifying particles extracted from marine sediment.LIU Jing ZHANG Xin DU Zengfeng LUAN Zhendong LI Lianfu XI Shichuan WANG Bing CAO Lei YAN Jun 2020Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,5:2

20Fine Mapping of QTLs for Stigma Exsertion Rate from Oryza glaberrima by Chromosome Segment Substitution显示文摘Stigma exsertion is an important trait for outcrossing ability in rice.Stigma exsertion rate(SER)of male sterile lines(MSLs)is a key factor affecting F1-seed production in hybrid rice.In this study,seven QTLs for SER were detected on five chromosomes using a set of single-segment substitution lines(SSSLs)derived from O.glaberrima.Three of the QTLs were mapped in the estimated intervals of 92.5–333.0 kb.qSER-5 was located in a substitution segment of 92.5 kb.qS ER-1 b and qS ER-8 b were respectively limited to 333.0 kb and 107.5 kb by secondary substitution mapping.qSER-1 b and qSER-3 had bigger additive effects of 11.5%and 11.9%,respectively,while the other five QTLs had smaller additive effects from 5.7%to 8.6%.Open reading frames were identified in the regions of qS ER-5 and qSER-8 b in O.sativa and O.glaberrima genomes.Fine mapping of the QTLs laid a foundation for the cloning of genes,and QTLs for SER will be used to develop MSLs with strong ability of outcrossing.TAN Quanya ZHU Haitao LIU Hui NI Yuerong WU Shengze LUAN Xin LIU Junwei YANG Weifeng YANG Zifeng ZENG Ruizhen LIU Guifu WANG Shaokui ZHANG Guiquan 2022Rice science2022,29,1:1
