Modelling and simulation of two-bed PSA process for separating H2 from methane steam reforming显示文摘Methane steam reforming is the main hydrogen production method in the industry. The product of methane steam reforming contains H2, CH4, CO and CO2 and is then purified by pressure swing adsorption(PSA) technology. In this study, a layered two-bed PSA process was designed theoretically to purify H2 from methane steam reforming off gas. The effects of adsorption pressure, adsorption time and purgeto-feed ratio(P/F ratio) on process performance were investigated to design a PSA process with more than99.95% purity and 80% recovery. Since the feed composition of the PSA process changes with the upstream process, the effect of the feed composition on the process performance was discussed as well. The result showed that the increase of CH4 concentration, which was the weakest adsorbate, would have a negative impact on product purity.Huiru Li Zuwei Liao Jingyuan Sun Binbo Jiang Jingdai Wang Yongrong Yang 2019Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,8:9
Measurement of the fluidized velocity in gas-solid fluidized beds based on AE signal analysis by wavelet packet transform显示文摘An energy distribution theory was presented based on regular evolvement of energy fraction of acous-tic signals with fluidization velocity. Wavelet packet analysis was used in processing the acoustic sig-nals originated from particle impact on the wall of a fluidized bed. A new criterion of judging incipient fluidization(Umf) velocity and minimum turbulent velocity(Umt) was proposed according to the energy distribution theory. Experiments were performed with five groups of high density polyethylene(PE) particles and one bimodal PE to acquire incipient fluidization velocity and minimum turbulent velocity by using the criterion. The feasibility of this method in obtaining characteristic fluidization parameters was further verified by comparing it to results from the pressure drop method and the empirical value from industry.WANG JingDai YANG YongRong GE PengFei SHU WeiJie HOU LinXi 2007Science China Chemistry2007,50,2:8
In-situ Synthesis of ZSM-5 Zeolite from Metakaolin/Spinel and Its Catalytic Performance on Methanol Conversion显示文摘ZSM-5 zeolite was in-situ synthesized from metakaolin or spinel by incorporating additional silica and alumina sources, respectively. The ZSM-5 zeolite was characterized by X-ray diffractometry(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),Fourier transform infrared(FT-1R) spectroscopy and N_2 adsorption measurement. This supported zeolite was tested on the methanol to propylene(MTP) processes.Experimental results showed that the ZSM-5 zeolite exhibited high selectivity for propylene. The yield of propylene on ZSM-5 zeolite made from metakaolin was increased by 17.73%,while that on ZSM-5 zeolite made from spinel was raised by 9.90%,compared to that achieved with the commercial ZSM-5 zeolite. The significant increase in propylene production is probably due to the distinctive morphology of the ZSM-5 zeolite, which possessed a rough external surface covered with sphere-like particles and distribution of small crystals sized at around 400—500 nm.This morphology could help to generate more crystal defects so that more active centers could be exposed to the reaction mixture. In addition, the zeolite product had a gradient pore distribution and many medium Bronsted acid sites, both of which might also contribute to the increased propylene production.Liu Ye Yu Xianbo Qin Lei Wang Jingdai Yang Yongrong (Department of Chemical and Biochemical Engineering,Zhejiang University,Hangzhou 310027) 2010China Petroleum Processing & Petrochemical Technology2010,12,1:4
Important mesoscale phenomena in gas phase fluidized bed ethylene polymerization显示文摘Gas phase fluidized bed processes have been widely applied to polyethylene production. In these processes, the flow, mass transfer, and reaction rate on the microscale and macroscale are strongly coupled because of the multiphase and multiscale nature of the fluidization system.Understanding mesoscale phenomena is therefore essential to the quantitative translation of the knowledge obtained from the microscale to the macroscale. This paper reviews the development of ethylene polymerization gas phase processes while focussing on studies regarding mesoscale phenomena. These include experimental characterizations, mathematical modelling and control strategies.Trends and future developments in this field are also discussed.Jingyuan Sun Haotong Wang Sihang Tian Xiaoqiang Fan Qiang Shi Ying Liu Xiaobo Hu Yao Yang Jingdai Wang Yongrong Yang 2020Particuology2020,18,1:3
Modeling and Optimization of Ethane Steam Cracking Process in An Industrial Tubular Reactor with Improved Reaction Scheme显示文摘Ethane steam cracking process in an industrial reactor was investigated. An one-demsional(1D)steady-state model was developed firstly by using an improved molecular reaction scheme and was then simulated in Aspen Plus.A comparison of model results with industrial data and previously reported results showed that the model can predict the process kinetics more accurately. In addition, the validated model was used to study the effects of different process variables, including coil outlet temperature(COT),steam-to-ethane ratio and residence time on ethane conversion, ethylene selectivity, products yields, and coking rate.Finally,steady-state optimization was conducted to the operation of industrial reactor. The COT and steam-to-ethane ratio were taken as decision variables to maximize the annual operational profit.Mohsin Ali Liao Zuwei Yao Yang Sun Jingyuan Jiang Binbo Wang Jingdai Yang Yongrong 2020China Petroleum Processing & Petrochemical Technology2020,22,4:2

Assessment of the TFM in predicting the onset of turbulent fluidization显示文摘Accurate prediction of the onset of turbulent fluidization still remains elusive owing to the dependence of the transition velocity on several factors including measurement methods and interpretation of results. In this work, numerical simulations using the two fluid model (TFM) are performed in an attempt to predict the regime change reported by Gopalan etal.(2016) in a small scale pseudo-2D gas-solid fluidized bed containing Geldart D particles. Various time and frequency domain analyses were applied on predicted absolute and differential pressure time series data to reveal the bed dynamics. Numerical predictions of the transition velocity, Uc are in reasonably good agreement with experimental results from the small scale challenge problem. The literature correlations completely fail to predict the transition velocity for the system considered in this work. This work thus provides a different approach for validating the CFD model against experimental measurements.Musango Lungu Haotong Wang Jingdai Wang Ronald Ngulube Yongrong Yang Fengqiu Chen John Siame 2019Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,5:1

Acidity Modification of ZSM-5 for Methane Conversion in Co-feeding Method with MTA Reaction显示文摘Acidity plays a vital role in methane conversion by co-feeding method, which is one of the best strategies to improve the utilization and gentle the reaction conditions of methane. In this work,Zn,Ni,Mo,La,Ga,Fe and Co-impregnated ZSM-5 zeolites have been prepared with the same substitutions to variate the acidities and tested in co-aromatization of methanol with methane. It is demonstrated that the new medium-strong acid sites formed by metal and strong acid sites are the key role to activate methane in co-reaction.Zn-modified ZSM-5 catalyst is preferred to exhibit the best methane conversion of 12%,whose aromatic selectivity increases from 27.2%to 52.2%compared with that of HZSM-5.Besides,the addition of methane further improves the production of high-valued aromatics compared with methanol to aromatics(MTA)reaction.YU Yue XI Zhixiang ZHOU Bingjie JIANG Binbo LIAO Zuwei YANG Yao WANG Jingdai HUANG Zhengliang SUN Jingyuan YANG Yongrong 2022Chemical Research in Chinese Universities2022,38,4:1

Numerical simulations and comparative analysis of two- and three-dimensional circulating fluidized bed reactors for CO2 capture显示文摘Carbon dioxide(CO2),the main gas emitted from fossil burning,is the primary contributor to global warming.Circulating fluidized bed reactor(CFBR)is proved as an energy-efficient method for post-combustion CO2 capture. The numerical simulation by computational fluid dynamics(CFD)is believed as a promising tool to study CO2 adsorption process in CFBR.Although three-dimensional(3D)simulations were proved to have better predicting performance with the experimental results,two-dimensional(2D)simulations have been widely reported for qualitative and quantitative studies on gas-solid behavior in CFBR for its higher computational efficiency recently. However, the discrepancies between 2D and 3D simulations have rarely been evaluated by detailed study.Considering that the differences between the 2D and 3D simulations will vary substantially with the changes of independent operating conditions,it is beneficial to lower computational costs to clarify the effects of dimensionality on the numerical CO2 adsorption runs under various operating conditions. In this work, the comparative analysis for CO2 adsorption in 2D and 3D simulations was conducted to enlighten the effects of dimensionality on the hydrodynamics and reaction behaviors,in which the separation rate, species distribution and hydrodynamic characteristics were comparatively studied for both model frames. With both accuracy and computational costs considered, the viable suggestions were provided in selecting appropriate model frame for the studies on optimization of operating conditions, which directly affect the capture and energy efficiencies of cyclic CO2 capture process in CFBR.Yefeng Zhou Yifan Han Yujian Lu Hongcun Bai Xiayi Hu Xincheng Zhang Fanghua Xie Xiao Luo Jingdai Wang Yongrong Yang 2020Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2020,28,12:1
