1Ambient volatile organic compounds at a receptor site in the Pearl River Delta region:Variations, source apportionment and effects on ozone formation显示文摘We present the continuously measurements of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)at a receptor site(Wan Qing Sha,WQS)in the Pearl River Delta(PRD)region from September to November of 2017.The average mixing ratios of total VOCs(TVOCs)was 36.3±27.9 ppbv with the dominant contribution from alkanes(55.5%),followed by aromatics(33.3%).The diurnal variation of TVOCs showed a strong photochemical consumption during daytime, resulting in the formation of ozone(O_(3)).Five VOC sources were resolved by the positive matrix factorization(PMF)model, including solvent usage(28.6%),liquid petroleum gas(LPG)usage(24.4%),vehicle exhaust(21.0%),industrial emissions(13.2%)and gasoline evaporation(12.9%).The regional transport air masses from the upwind cities of south China can result in the elevated concentrations of TVOCs.Low ratios of TVOCs/NO_(x)(1.53±0.88)suggested that the O_(3) formation regime at WQS site was VOC-limited,which also confirmed by a photochemical box model with the master chemical mechanism(PBM-MCM).Furthermore,the observation on high-O_(3) episode days revealed that frequent O_(3) outbreaks at WQS were mainly caused by the regional transport of anthropogenic VOCs especially for aromatics and the subsequent photochemical reactions. This study provides valuable information for policymakers to propose the effective control strategies on photochemical pollution in a regional perspective.Yao Meng Junwei Song Lewei Zeng Yingyi Zhang Yan Zhao Xufei Liu Hai Guo Liuju Zhong Yubo Ou Yan Zhou Tao Zhang Dingli Yue Senchao Lai 2022Journal of Environmental Sciences2022,34,1:5
2Variations of aminiums in fine particles at a suburban site in Guangzhou, China: Importance of anthropogenic and natural emissions显示文摘Amines are important nitrogen-containing compounds in fine particles(PM2.5)in the atmosphere.Observations are necessary for in-depth understanding on the characteristics, sources and atmospheric processes of aminiums. In this study, the observation of ten C_(1)–C_(4) aminiums in PM_(2.5) was conducted in January and March of 2021 in suburban Guangzhou. The concentration and composition of aminiums showed significant differences between the pollution episodes and non-episode periods.Seasonal difference was also observed between winter and spring. The influence of meteorological factors(i.e.,wind speed, atmospheric pressure, temperature and relative humidity)was investigated. The variations of aminiums were also affected by different sources.Anthropogenic sources were suggested to be major contributor to aminiums in the pollution episodes, while biological sources were important sources to aminiums in the non-episode periods, especially in spring.Positive matrix factorization receptor model was applied to investigate the source contributions, and four major sources were identified. The results show that vehicular emission, industrial production, biological emission and soil/dust were the major sources of aminiums. This study emphasizes the importance of source contribution and meteorological conditions on the variations of aminiums, which provides further understanding of organic nitrogen in the atmosphere.Qiuzi Shu Chenglei Pei Xiaoluan Lin Dachi Hong Senchao Lai Yingyi Zhang 2023Particuology2023,,9:0
3Analysis of amino acid enantiomers in ambient aerosols:Effects and removal of coexistent aerosol matrix显示文摘Amino acids(AAs)including D-and L-enantiomers are a group of organic nitrogen species in ambient aerosol.Due to the low abundances of AAs(level of ng/m^(3))and the matrix effects by coexistent components,it is challenging to quantify AA enantiomers in ambient aerosols especially under pollution conditions. In this study,we present an optimized method for analyzing AA enantiomers in atmospheric aerosol samples including a pretreatment process and the detection by high performance liquid chromatography coupled to a fuorescence detector(HPLC-FLD).Matrix effects caused by coexistent chemicals on AA enantiomers analysis in ambient aerosol samples were investigated especially for those collected in pollution episodes. The results revealed that the determination of AA enantiomers is significantly affected by the coexistent organic carbon(as a proxy of organic matter)and water-soluble ion of NH_(4)^(+).To remove the matrix effects,we applied a pretreatment using the solid phase extraction column coupled with alkaline adjustment to sample extract. After pretreatment,18 AAs including 6 pairs of D-and L-enantiomers(i.e.,leucine,isoleucine,valine,alanine,serine,and aspartic acid)can be successfully separated and quantified in aerosol samples by HPLC-FLD.The recoveries are in the range of 67%-106%.This method was successfully applied to the urban aerosol samples from pollution and non-pollution periods for AA enantiomers determination. We suggest that the concentrations of D-AAs and the ratio of D-AA/L-AA are indicative of the contribution of bacterial sources and the infuence of biomass burning.Ying Li Xiaoying Li Libin Wu Luhan Shi ShanWang Pingqing Fu Yingyi Zhang Senchao Lai 2024Journal of Environmental Sciences2024,,3:0
