Effect of Sancaijiangtang on plasma nitric oxide and endothelin-1 levels in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and vascular dementia:a single-blind randomized controlled trial显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To observe the effect of Sancaijiangtang powders on plasma nitric oxide and endothelin-1 levels. We sought to identify the common pathological link and mechanism of action for Traditional Chinese medicine in type 2 diabetes mellitus and vascular dementia, and to explicate the material basis for treating the different diseases with the same method in Traditional Chinese Medicine.METHODS: In total,168 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and vascular dementia were enrolled in the study, and randomly divided into two groups by simple randomization. Patients in the treatment group received oral Sancaijiangtang powders with pioglitazone hydrochloride three times daily, while patients in the control group received pioglitazone hydrochloride alone. The treatment course was for12 weeks. Mini-mental state examinations(Chinese version) and Montreal Cognitive Assessments(Beijing version) were performed, and fasting plasma glucose, fasting insulin, hemoglobin A1 c,homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance, plasma nitric oxide and endothelin-1 levels were measured before and after the treatment.RESULTS: The post-treatment levels for all measurements in both groups were better than pre-treatment levels(P < 0.05). The post-treatment levels for all measurements in the treatment group were better than the levels measured in the control group(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: Type 2 diabetes mellitus and vascular dementia have common pathological mechanisms for insulin resistance and endothelium dysfunction. Sancaijiangtang powders could improve the release of nitric oxide and inhibit the secretion of endothelin-1. Therefore, the material basis exists for treating the different diseases with the same method in Traditional Chinese Medicine. | Guo Qiang Cao Wenzhai Zhao Huan Zhu Yuxia Yang Dongdong Zhong Sen Chen Qiu | 2015 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,4: | 24
Electroacupuncture activates enteric glial cells and protects the gut barrier in hemorrhaged rats显示文摘AIM:To investigate whether electroacupuncture ST36 activates enteric glial cells, and alleviates gut inflammation and barrier dysfunction following hemorrhagic shock.METHODS:Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to approximately 45% total blood loss and randomly divided into seven groups:(1) sham:cannulation, but no hemorrhage;(2) subjected to hemorrhagic shock(HS);(3) electroacupuncture(EA) ST36 after hemorrhage;(4) vagotomy(VGX)/EA:VGX before hemorrhage, then EA ST36;(5) VGX:VGX before hemorrhage;(6) a-bungarotoxin(BGT)/EA:intraperitoneal injection of a-BGT before hemorrhage, then EA ST36; and(7) a-BGT group:a-BGT injection before hemorrhage.Morphological changes in enteric glial cells(EGCs) were observed by immunofluorescence, and glial fibrillary acidic protein(GFAP; a protein marker of enteric glial activation) was evaluated using reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction and western blot analysis.Intestinal cytokine levels, gut permeability to 4-k Da fluorescein isothiocyanate(FITC)-dextran,and the expression and distribution of tight junction protein zona occludens(ZO)-1 were also determined.RESULTS:EGCs were distorted following hemorrhage and showed morphological abnormalities.EA ST36 attenuated the morphological changes in EGCs at 6 h,as compared with the VGX,a-BGT and HS groups.EA ST36 increased GFAP expression to a greater degree than in the other groups.EA ST36 decreased intestinal permeability to FITC-dextran(760.5 ± 96.43 ng/m L vs 2466.7 ± 131.60 ng/m L,P < 0.05) and preserved ZO-1 protein expression and localization at 6 h afterhemorrhage compared with the HS group. However, abdominal VGX and a-BGT treatment weakened or eliminated the effects of EA ST36.EA ST36 reduced tumor necrosis factor-a levels in intestinal homogenates after blood loss, while vagotomy or intraperitoneal injection of a-BGT before EA ST36 abolished its antiinflammatory effects.CONCLUSION:EA ST36 attenuates hemorrhageinduced intestinal inflammatory insult, and protects the intestinal barrier integrity, partly via activation of EGCs. | Sen Hu Zeng-Kai Zhao Rui Liu Hai-Bin Wang Chun-Yu Gu Hong-Min Luo Huan Wang Ming-Hua Du Yi Lv Xian Shi | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,5: | 15
Advances of polymer binders for silicon-based anodes in high energy density lithium-ion batteries显示文摘Conventional lithium-ion batteries(LIBs)with graphite anodes are approaching their theoretical limitations in energy density.Replacing the conventional graphite anodes with high-capacity Si-based anodes represents one of the most promising strategies to greatly boost the energy density of LIBs.However, the inherent huge volume expansion of Si-based materials after lithiation and the resulting series of intractable problems, such as unstable solid electrolyte interphase layer, cracking of electrode, and especially the rapid capacity degradation of cells, severely restrict the practical application of Sibased anodes.Over the past decade, numerous reports have demonstrated that polymer binders play a critical role in alleviating the volume expansion and maintaining the integrity and stable cycling of Si-based anodes. In this review, the state-of-the-art designing of polymer binders for Si-based anodes have been systematically summarized based on their structures, including the linear, branched, crosslinked, and conjugated conductive polymer binders.Especially, the comprehensive designing of multifunctional polymer binders,by a combination of multiple structures, interactions, crosslinking chemistries, ionic or electronic conductivities, soft and hard segments, and so forth, would be promising to promote the practical application of Si-based anodes. Finally,a perspective on the rational design of practical polymer binders for the large-scale application of Si-based anodes is presented. | Yu-Ming Zhao Feng-Shu Yue Shi-Cheng Li Yu Zhang Zhong-Rong Tian Quan Xu Sen Xin Yu-Guo Guo | 2021 | InfoMat2021,3,5: | 8
Integration of USEPA WASP model in a GIS platform显示文摘The integration of water quality analysis simulation program (WASP) with a geographical information system (GIS) is presented. This integration was undertaken to enhance the data analysis and management ability of the widely used water quality model.Different types of data involved in WASP modeling were converted and integrated into GIS using a database method. The spatial data modeling and analysis capability of GIS were used in the operation of the model. The WASP water quality model was coupled with the environmental fluid dynamics code (EFDC) hydrodynamic model.A case study of the Lower Charles River Basin (Massachusetts,USA) water quality model system was conducted to demonstrate the integration process. The results showed that high efficiency of the data process and powerful function of data analysis could be achieved in the integrated model, which would significantly improve the application of WASP model in water quality management. | Sen PENG George Yu-zhu FU Xin-hua ZHAO | 2010 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science A(Applied Physics & Engineering)2010,11,12: | 8
Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear. Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks. Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease, while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes. | MA Yan ZHU Dong Shan CHEN Ren Bo SHI Nan Nan LIU Si Hong FAN Yi Pin WU Gui Hui YANG Pu Ye BAI Jiang Feng CHEN Hong CHEN Li Ying FENG Qiao GUO Tuan Mao HOU Yong HU Gui Fen HU Xiao Mei HU Yun Hong HUANG Jin HUANG Qiu Hua HUANG Shao Zhen JI Liang JIN Hai Hao LEI Xiao LI Chun Yan LI Min Qing LI Qun Tang LI Xian Yong LIU Hong De LIU Jin Ping LIU Zhang MA Yu Ting MAO Ya MO Liu Fen NA Hui WANG Jing Wei SONG Fang Li SUN Sheng WANG Dong Ting WANG Ming Xuan WANG Xiao Yan WANG Yin Zhen WANG Yu Dong WU Wei WU Lan Ping XIAO Yan Hua XIE Hai Jun XU Hong Ming XU Shou Fang XUE Rui Xia YANG Chun YANG Kai Jun YUAN Sheng Li ZHANG Gong Qi ZHANG Jin Bo ZHANG Lin Song ZHAO Shu Sen ZHAO Wan Ying ZHENG Kai ZHOU Ying Chun ZHU Jun Teng ZHU Tian Qing ZHANG Hua Min WANG Yan Ping WANG Yong Yan 无 | 2020 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2020,33,12: | 8
Algebraic Method‑Based Point‑to‑Point Trajectory Planning of an Under‑Constrained Cable‑Suspended Parallel Robot with Variable Angle and Height Cable Mast显示文摘To avoid impacts and vibrations during the processes of acceleration and deceleration while possessing flexible working ways for cable-suspended parallel robots(CSPRs),point-to-point trajectory planning demands an under-constrained cable-suspended parallel robot(UCPR)with variable angle and height cable mast as described in this paper. The end-effector of the UCPR with three cables can achieve three translational degrees of freedom(DOFs).The inverse kinematic and dynamic modeling of the UCPR considering the angle and height of cable mast are completed. The motion trajectory of the end-effector comprising six segments is given. The connection points of the trajectory segments(except for point P3 in the X direction)are devised to have zero instantaneous velocities, which ensure that the acceleration has continuity and the planned acceleration curve achieves smooth transition. The trajectory is respectively planned using three algebraic methods, including fifth degree polynomial, cycloid trajectory, and double-S velocity curve. The results indicate that the trajectory planned by fifth degree polynomial method is much closer to the given trajectory of the end-effector.Numerical simulation and experiments are accomplished for the given trajectory based on fifth degree polynomial planning. At the points where the velocity suddenly changes, the length and tension variation curves of the planned and unplanned three cables are compared and analyzed. The OptiTrack motion capture system is adopted to track the end-effector of the UCPR during the experiment. The effectiveness and feasibility of fifth degree polynomial planning are validated. | Tao Zhao Bin Zi Sen Qian Jiahao Zhao | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering2020,33,4: | 7
Characteristics of volatile compounds removal in biogas slurry of pig manure by ozone oxidation and organic solvents extraction显示文摘Biogas slurry is not suitable for liquid fertilizer due to its high amounts of volatile materials being of complicated composition and peculiar smell. In order to remove volatiles from biogas slurry efficiently, the dynamic headspace and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry were used to clear the composition of volatiles. Nitrogen stripping and superfluous ozone were also used to remove volatiles from biogas slurry. The results showed that there were 21 kinds of volatile compounds in the biogas slurry, including sulfur compounds, organic amines, benzene, halogen generation of hydrocarbons and alkanes, some of which had strong peculiar smell. The volatile compounds in biogas slurry can be removed with the rate of 53.0% by nitrogen stripping and with rate of 81.7% by the oxidization and stripping of the superfluous ozone. On this basis, the removal rate of the volatile compounds reached 99.2% by chloroform and n-hexane extraction, and almost all of odor was eliminated. The contents of some dissolved organic compounds decreased obviously and however main plant nutrients had no significant change in the biogas slurry after being treated. | Yujun Wang Lianshuang Feng Xiaosong Zhao Xiulan Ma Jingmin Yang Huiqing Liu Sen Dou Miping Zhou Zhonglei Xie | 2013 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2013,25,9: | 7

FRUCTOKINASE-LIKE PROTEIN 1 interacts with TRXz to regulate chloroplast development in rice显示文摘Chloroplast genes are transcribed by the plastidencoded RNA polymerase(PEP) or nucleus-encoded RNA polymerase. FRUCTOKINASE-LIKE PROTEINS(FLNs) are phosphofructokinase-B(Pfk B)-type carbohydrate kinases that act as part of the PEP complex; however, the molecular mechanisms underlying FLN activity in rice remain elusive.Previously, we identified and characterized a heat-stress sensitive albino(hsa_1) mutant in rice. Map-based cloning revealed that HSA_1 encodes a putative OsFLN_2. Here, we further demonstrated that knockdown or knockout of the OsFLN_1, a close homolog of HSA_1/OsFLN_2, considerably inhibits chloroplast biogenesis and the fln_1 knockout mutants, created by clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats(CRISPR) and CRISPR-associate protein_9, exhibit severe albino phenotype and seedling lethality. Moreover, OsFLN_1 localizes to the chloroplast.Yeast two-hybrid, pull-down and bimolecular fluorescencecomplementation experiments revealed that OsFLN_1 and HSA_1/OsFLN_2 interact with THIOREDOXINZ(OsTRXz) to regulate chloroplast development. In agreement with this, knockout of OsTRXz resulted in a similar albino and seedling lethality phenotype to that of the fln_1 mutants. Quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and immunoblot analysis revealed that the transcription and translation of PEP-dependent genes were strongly inhibited in fln_1 and trxz mutants, indicating that loss of OsFLN_1, HSA_1/OsFLN_2, or OsTRXz function perturbs the stability of the transcriptionally active chromosome complex and PEP activity. These results show that OsFLN_1 and HSA_1/OsFLN_2 contribute to chloroplast biogenesis and plant growth. | Lei He Sen Zhang Zhennan Qiu Juan Zhao Wendan Nie Haiyan Lin Zhengge Zhu Dali Zeng Qian Qian Li Zhu | 2018 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2018,60,2: | 6

Bio-inspired polygonal skeleton structure for vibration isolation:Design, modelling, and experiment显示文摘Inspired by the safe landing of a cat falling from a high altitude,a bio-inspired polygonal skeleton(BIPS) structure is proposed, and its nonlinear characteristics are systematically studied to explore its potential application in the suppression of vibration. The polygon is formed by the skeleton structure of the cat’s entire body and the ground. The BIPS system consists of two symmetrical bionic legs with three robs(as skeleton) and four horizontal springs(as muscle). Two bionic legs are connected through the bearing platform(as spine),which could adjust the distance between the two bionic legs. A theoretical model is developed to characterize its stiffness nonlinearity through geometrical and mechanical analysis. Parameter analysis reveals that the BIPS structure has diverse stiffness, including nonlinear positive stiffness and negative stiffness. By imitating adjustment of leg posture and telescopic function of the spine(control the distance between legs),these flexible stiffness properties can be adjusted by structure parameters. In addition, the load capacity and working range can also be designed by the length of the bars, the initial angle, the mounting position, and the spring stiffness. The experimental setup is established, and the vibration isolation performance under various excitation is tested. The experimental results verify the accuracy of the dynamic model and also show that the proposed BIPS structure can suppress the vibration effectively under a variety of excitations. These peculiarities may provide potential possibility of an innovative approach to passive vibration control and isolation. | YAN Ge WANG Sen ZOU HongXiang ZHAO LinChuan GAO QiuHua ZHANG WenMing | 2020 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2020,63,12: | 5
Prospective evaluation of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia expert probability and 4T scores in Chinese patients with suspected heparin-induced thrombocytopenia显示文摘Background: Diagnosis of heparin-induced thrombocytopenia (HIT) is challenging. This study aimed to compare the diagnostic performance of HIT expert probability (HEP) and 4T scores, and to evaluate the inter-observer reliability for the 4T score in a clinical setting. Methods: This prospective study included HIT-suspected patients between 2016 and 2018. Three hematologists assessed the HEP and 4T scores. Correlations between scores and anti-platelet factor 4 (anti-PF4)/heparin antibodies were evaluated. Receiver operating characteristic curves and area under the curve (AUC) were used to assess the predictive accuracy of these two scoring models. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was used to assess the inter-observer agreement of 4T scores between residents and hematologists. Results: Of the 89 subjects included, 22 (24.7%) were positive for anti-PF4/heparin antibody. The correlations between antibody titer and either HEP or 4T scores were similar (r = 0.392, P < 0.01 for the HEP score;r = 0.444, P < 0.01 for the 4T score). No significant difference in the diagnostic performance was displayed between these two scores (AUC for the HEP score: 0.778 vs. AUC for the 4T score: 0.741, P = 0.357). Only 72 4T scores were collected from the residents, with a surprisingly low percentage of observers (43.1%) presenting the four individual item scores which made up their 4T score. The AUC of 4T score assessed by residents and hematologists was 0.657 (95% confidence interval [CI]: 536–0.765) and 0.780 (95% CI: 0.667–0.869, P < 0.05), respectively. The ICC of 4T score between residents and hematologists was 0.49 (95% CI: 0.29–0.65, P < 0.01), demonstrating a fair inter-observer agreement. Conclusions: The HEP score does not display a better performance for predicting HIT than the 4T score. With the unsatisfactory completion rate, the inter-observer agreement of 4T score in a tertiary hospital is fair, underscoring the necessity for continuing education for physicians. | Sen Li Lian-Kai Fan Shu-Jie Wang Yong-Qiang Zhao | 2019 | Chinese Medical Journal2019,,12: | 5
Formation of Poly(ε-caprolactone) Networks via Supramolecular Hydrogen Bonding Interactions显示文摘In this contribution, we reported a novel approach to crosslink poly(ε-caprolactone)(PCL) via supramolecular hydrogen bonding interactions. First, a series of octa-armed poly(ε-caprolactone) stars with polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane(POSS) cores were synthesized via the ring-opening polymerizations. Thereafter, the arm ends of organic-inorganic star-shaped PCLs were reacted with 2-(6-isocyanatohexylaminocarbonylamino)-6-methyl-4[1 H]-pyrimidinone to obtain 2-ureido-4[1 H]-pyrimidone(UPy)-terminated PCL stars.Notably, the UPy-terminated PCL stars were physically crosslinked, which was evidenced by means of dynamic mechanical thermal analysis(DMTA) and rheological analysis. Owing to the formation of the physically-crosslinked networks, the organic-inorganic PCL stars displayed significant shape memory properties with about 100% of shape recovery, which was in marked contrast to the PCL stars without UPy termini. | Sen Xu Pengfei Chang Bingjie Zhao Muhammad Adeel Sixun Zheng | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Polymer Science2019,37,3: | 5
Dimethyl sulfoxide inhibits zymosan-induced intestinal inflammation and barrier dysfunction显示文摘AIM: To investigate whether dimethyl sulfoxide(DMSO) inhibits gut inflammation and barrier dysfunction following zymosan-induced systemic inflammatoryresponse syndrome and multiple organ dysfunction syndrome.METHODS: Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into four groups: sham with administration of normal saline(SS group); sham with administration of DMSO(SD group); zymosan with administration of normal saline(ZS group); and zymosan with administration of DMSO(ZD group). Each group contained three subgroups according to 4 h,8 h,and 24 h after surgery. At 4 h,8 h,and 24 h after intraperitoneal injection of zymosan(750 mg/kg),the levels of intestinal inflammatory cytokines [tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α) and interleukin(IL)-10] and oxides(myeloperoxidase, malonaldehyde, and superoxide dismutase) were examined. The levels of diamine oxidase(DAO) in plasma and intestinal mucosal blood flow(IMBF) were determined. Intestinal injury was also evaluated using an intestinal histological score and apoptosis of intestinal epithelial cells was determined by deoxynucleotidyl transferase d UTP nick end labeling(TUNEL) assay. The intestinal epithelial tight junction protein,ZO-1,was observed by immunofluorescence.RESULTS: DMSO decreased TNF-α and increased IL-10 levels in the intestine compared with the ZS group at the corresponding time points. The activity of intestinal myeloperoxidase in the ZS group was higher than that in the ZD group 24 h after zymosan administration(P < 0.05). DMSO decreased the content of malondialdehyde(MDA) and increased the activity of superoxide dehydrogenase(SOD) 24 h after zymosan administration. The IMBF was lowest at 24 h and was 49.34% and 58.26% in the ZS group and ZD group, respectively(P < 0.05). DMSO alleviated injury in intestinal villi, and the gut injury score was significantly lower than the ZS group(3.6 ± 0.2 vs 4.2 ± 0.3,P < 0.05). DMSO decreased the level of DAO in plasma compared with the ZS group(65.1 ± 4.7 U/L vs 81.1 ± 5.0 U/L,P < 0.05). DMSO significantly preserved ZO-1 protein expression and localization 24 h after zymosan administration. The TUNEL analysis indicated that the number of apoptotic intestinal cells in the ZS group was much higher than the ZD group(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION: DMSO inhibited intestinal cytokines and protected against zymosan-induced gut barrier dysfunction. | Yu-Meng Li Hai-Bin Wang Jin-Guang Zheng Xiao-Dong Bai Zeng-Kai Zhao Jing-Yuan Li Sen Hu | 2015 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2015,21,38: | 5
Composition and mode of occurrence of minerals in Late Permian coals from Zhenxiong County, northeastern Yunnan,China显示文摘Minerals in the Late Permian coals from the Niuchang-Yigu mining area,Zhenxiong County, northeastern Yunnan,China, were investigated using optical microscopy and low temperature ashing plus X-ray diffraction(LTA?XRD).The results showed that minerals in the coal LTAs are mainly quartz,kaolinite,chamosite,mixed-layer illite/smectite(I/S),pyrite,and calcite, with trace amounts of marcasite, dolomite, and bassanite. The authigenic quartz generally occurs in collodetrinite or as a filling in cleats or cell cavities. This silica was mainly derived from aqueous solutions produced by the weathering of basaltic rocks in the Kangdian Upland and from hydrothermal fluids. The presence of b-quartz paramorph grains in collodetrinite probably indicates that these grains were detrital and came from a volcanic ash.Clay minerals are generally embedded in collodetrinite and occur as cell-fillings.Pyrite occurs as framboidal, anhedral, and euhedral grains and a cell-filling.The coals are high in pyrite and the high pyrite content probably results from seawater invading during the stage of peat accumulation.Calcite generally occurs as vein-fillings,indicating an epigenetic origin. | Tian Li Shi-Feng Dai Jian-Hua Zou Sen Zhang He-Hing Tian Li-Xin Zhao | 2014 | International Journal of Coal Science & Technology2014,1,1: | 4
Causes of maize density loss in farmers’ fields in Northeast China显示文摘Increasing plant density is an effective and important way to reduce maize yield gaps in Northeast China. However, the fact is that a significant plant density gap exists between optimum plant density and actual plant density in farmers’ fields. To quantify the density gap between planned planting density and final harvest plant density(HPD), we studied 60 farmers’ fields on three types of soil for three crop seasons from 2015 to 2017 by measuring their plant-plant distance, actual seedlings density(ASD), final HPD and yield. We also explored the potential causes of density loss by digging the places where the seedlings were missing for two consecutive years in 2016–2017. Results show that the three-year average HPD in farmers’ fields was 59 699 plants ha^–1, which was significantly lower than the planned density, including both the machine setting density(MSD;67 962 plants ha^–1) and theoretical plant density(TPD;67 467 plants ha^–1). No significant difference was found in HPD between years and soil types. However, for MSD and TPD, the average value in 2015 was significantly higher than that in 2016 and 2017. No significant difference between soil types was observed. Furthermore, the results from 2016 till 2017 indicated that a lack of seeds in the soil, a failure to germinate due to low-quality seeds, and a lack of seedlings breaking out of the soil due to environmental problems explained approximately 60.88, 10.33 and 28.80% of density loss, respectively. According to our survey, 63% of farmers did not know their own TPD and HPD, and 54% of farmers did not know the density loss. Therefore, we argue that farmers’ limited knowledge of density and density loss is an urgent problem that needs to be solved in maize production. These observations will be useful for determining best management practices for maize production and for providing helpful suggestions for machine improvement. | ZHAO Ying-jie XING Sen ZHANG Qing-song ZHANG Fu-suo MA Wen-qi | 2019 | Journal of Integrative Agriculture2019,18,8: | 4
The biogenic silica composition, behavior and budget in the Changjiang Estuary显示文摘Three comprehensive surveys were performed in the Changjiang(Yangtze River) Estuary(CJE) to understand the biogenic silica(BSi) composition, behavior and budget. It is indicated that the BSi is composed of phytoliths, phytoplankton and sponges; phytolith BSi has 16 forms and account for 23% to 83% of the bulk BSi in the maximum turbidity zone. The budget shows that the major exogenous BSi source in the water column of the CJE is the riverine input, accounting for 95% of the total BSi input. Dominant processes that maintain BSi levels in the water column are the primary production(55 Gmol/a) and the subsequent BSi sedimentation(46 Gmol/a); and the BSi pool produced by the primary production represents two point three times the BSi loading of the Changjiang River and 63% of the BSi output, respectively. The net export(26 Gmol/a) of BSi from the CJE to the East China Sea and Yellow Sea roughly equals the riverine BSi loading. The observed total accumulation of BSi is one point seven times larger than the loading of total BSi output, with 53% to 88% of phytolith BSi and their assemblage, indicating that there has already been a 'filter' of terrestrial BSi. The reverse weathering in sediments is an important process for the reactive silica removal in the CJE due to authigenic alterations. It is indicated that the phytolith fluxes in the suspended load represent a significant BSi source in the estuary, and the CJE would act as a net BSi sink. | RAN Xiangbin LIU Jun LIU Sen ZANG Jiaye WANG Baodong ZHAO Jun | 2018 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2018,37,1: | 3
PINK1 kinase dysfunction triggers neurodegeneration in the primate brain without impacting mitochondrial homeostasis显示文摘In vitro studies have established the prevalent theory that the mitochondrial kinase PINK1 protects neurodegeneration by removing damaged mitochondria in Parkinson's disease(PD).However, difficulty in detecting endogenous PINK1 protein in rodent brains and cell lines has prevented the rigorous investigation of the in vivo role of PINK1.Here we report that PINK1 kinase form is selectively expressed in the human and monkey brains.CRISPR/Cas9-mediated deficiency of PINK1 causes similar neurodegeneration in the brains of fetal and adult monkeys as well as cultured monkey neurons without affecting mitochondrial protein expression and morphology.Importantly,PINK1 mutations in the primate brain and human cells reduce protein phosphorylation that is important for neuronal function and survival. Our findings suggest that PINK1 kinase activity rather than its mitochondrial function is essential for the neuronal survival in the primate brains and that its kinase dysfunction could be involved in the pathogenesis of PD. | Weili Yang Xiangyu Guo Zhuchi Tu Xiusheng Chen Rui Han Yanting Liu Sen Yan Qi Wang Zhifu Wang Xianxian Zhao Yunpeng Zhang Xin Xiong Huiming Yang Peng Yin Huida Wan Xingxing Chen Jifeng Guo Xiao-Xin Yan Lujian Liao Shihua Li Xiao-Jiang Li | 2022 | Protein & Cell2022,13,1: | 3
Perspective on gallium-based room temperature liquid metal batteries显示文摘Recent years have witnessed a rapid development of deformable devices and epidermal electronics that are in urgent request for flexible batteries. The intrinsically soft and ductile conductive electrode materials can offer pivotal hints in extending the lifespan of devices under frequent deformation.Featuring inherent liquidity,metal-licity,and biocompatibility,Ga-based room-temperature liquid metals(GBRTLMs)are potential candidates to fulfill the requirement of soft batteries.Herein,to illustrate the glamour of liquid components,high-temperature liquid metal batteries(HTLMBs)are briefly summarized from the aspects of principle, application, advantages, and drawbacks.Then,Ga-based liquid metals as main working electrodes in primary and secondary batteries are reviewed in terms of battery configurations, working mechanisms, and fiinctions.Next,Ga-based liquid metals as auxiliary working electrodes in lithium and nonlithium batteries are also discussed, which work as functional self-healing additives to alleviate the degradation and enhance the durability and capacity of the battery system. After that,Ga-based liquid metals as interconnecting electrodes in multi-scenarios including photovoltaics solar cells, generators, and supercapacitors(SCs)are interpreted, respectively. The summary and perspective of Ga-based liquid metals as diverse battery materials are also focused on.Finally,it was suggested that tremendous endeavors are yet to be made in exploring the innovative battery chemistry, inherent reaction mechanism, and multifunctional integration of Ga-based liquid metal battery systems in the coining future. | Zerong XING Junheng FU Sen CHEN Jianye GAO Ruiqi ZHAO Jing LIU | 2022 | Frontiers in Energy2022,16,1: | 3
Uptake, translocation, and debromination of polybrominated diphenyl ethers in maize显示文摘Uptake, translocation and debromination of three polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs), BDE-28, -47 and -99, in maize were studied in a hydroponic experiment. Roots took up most of the PBDEs in the culture solutions and more highly brominated PBDEs had a stronger uptake capability. PBDEs were detected in the stems and leaves of maize after exposure but rarely detected in the blank control plants. Furthermore, PBDE concentrations decreased from roots to stems and then to leaves, and a very clear decreasing gradient was found in segments upwards along the stem. These altogether provide substantiating evidence for the acropetal translocation of PBDEs in maize. More highly brominated PBDEs were translocated with more difficulty. Radial translocation of PBDEs from nodes to sheath inside maize was also observed. Both acropetal and radial translocations were enhanced at higher transpiration rates, suggesting that PBDE transport was probably driven by the transpiration stream. Debromination of PBDEs occurred in all parts of the maize, and debromination patterns of different parent PBDEs and in different parts of a plant were similar but with some differences. This study for the first time provides direct evidence for the acropetal translocation of PBDEs within plants, elucidates the process of PBDE transport and clarifies the debromination products of PBDEs in maize. | Moming Zhao Shuzhen Zhang Sen Wang Honglin Huang | 2012 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2012,24,3: | 3
