| 1 | One-year clinical study of NeuroR egen scaffold implantation following scar resection in complete chronic spinal cord injury patients显示文摘The objective of this clinical study was to assess the safety and feasibility of the collagen scaffold, Neuro Regen scaffold, one year after scar tissue resection and implantation. Scar tissue is a physical and chemical barrier that prevents neural regeneration. However, identification of scar tissue is still a major challenge. In this study, the nerve electrophysiology method was used to distinguish scar tissue from normal neural tissue, and then different lengths of scars ranging from 0.5–4.5 cm were surgically resected in five complete chronic spinal cord injury(SCI) patients. The NeuroR egen scaffold along with autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells(BMMCs), which have been proven to promote neural regeneration and SCI recovery in animal models, were transplanted into the gap in the spinal cord following scar tissue resection. No obvious adverse effects related to scar resection or Neuro Regen scaffold transplantation were observed immediately after surgery or at the 12-month follow-up. In addition, patients showed partially autonomic nervous function improvement, and the recovery of somatosensory evoked potentials(SSEP) from the lower limbs was also detected. | 4 | All-silica zeolites screening for capture of toxic gases from molecular simulation显示文摘The exhaust gases, including SO_2,NH_3, H_2S, NO_2, NO, and CO, are principal air pollutants due to their severe harms to the ecological environment.Zeolites have been considered as good absorbent candidates to capture the six exhaust gases.In this work, we performed grand canonical ensemble Monte Carlo(GCMC) simulations to examine the capability of 95 kinds of all-silica zeolites in the removal of the six toxic gases, and to predict the adsorption isotherms of the six gases on all the zeolites.The simulation results showed that, H_2S, NO, NO_2, CO and NH_3 are well-captured by zeolite structures with accessible surface area of 1600–1800 m^2·g^(-1) and pore diameter of 0.6–0.7 nm, such as AFY and PAU, while SO_2 is well-adsorbed by zeolites containing larger accessible surface area(1700–2700 m^2·g^(-1)) and pore diameter(0.7–1.4 nm) at room temperature and an atmospheric pressure.However, at saturated adsorption, zeolites RWY, IRR, JSR, TSC, and ITT are found to exhibit better abilities to capture these gases.Our study provides useful computational insights in choosing and designing zeolite structures with high performance to remove toxic gases for air purification, thereby facilitating the development and application of exhaust gas-processing technology in green industry. | Zhiguo Yan Sai Tang Xumiao Zhou Li Yang Xingqing Xiao Houyang Chen Yuanhang Qin Wei Sun | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Chemical Engineering2019,27,1: | 4 |

| 6 | Bloodletting Puncture at Hand Twelve Jing-Well Points Relieves Brain Edema after Severe Traumatic Brain Injury in Rats via Inhibiting MAPK Signaling Pathway显示文摘Objective:To investigate whether blood-brain barrier(BBB)served a key role in the edema-relief effect of bloodletting puncture at hand twelve Jing-well points(HTWP)in traumatic brain injury(TBI)and the potential molecular signaling pathways.Methods:Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were assigned to the shamoperated(sham),TBI,and bloodletting puncture(bloodletting)groups(n=24 per group)using a randomized number table.The TBI model rats were induced by cortical contusion and then bloodletting puncture were performed at HTWP twice a day for 2 days.The neurological function and cerebral edema were evaluated by modified neurological severity score(mNSS),cerebral water content,magnetic resonance imaging and hematoxylin and eosin staining.Cerebral blood flow was measured by laser speckles.The protein levels of aquaporin 4(AQP4),matrix metalloproteinases 9(MMP9)and mitogen-activated protein kinase pathway(MAPK)signaling were detected by immunofluorescence staining and Western blot.Results:Compared with TBI group,bloodletting puncture improved neurological function at 24 and 48 h,alleviated cerebral edema at 48 h,and reduced the permeability of BBB induced by TBI(all P<0.05).The AQP4 and MMP9 which would disrupt the integrity of BBB were downregulated by bloodletting puncture(P<0.05 or P<0.01).In addition,the extracellular signal-regulated kinase(ERK)and p38 signaling pathways were inhibited by bloodletting puncture(P<0.05).Conclusions:Bloodletting puncture at HTWP might play a significant role in protecting BBB through regulating the expressions of MMP9 and AQP4 as well as corresponding regulatory upstream ERK and p38 signaling pathways.Therefore,bloodletting puncture at HTWP may be a promising therapeutic strategy for TBI-induced cerebral edema. | LIU Bao-hu ZHOU Dan GUO Yi ZHANG Sai GUO Yong-ming GUO Tong-tong CHEN Xu-yi GONG Yi-nan TANG Hui-ling XU Zhi-fang | 2021 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2021,27,4: | 2 |

The neutral-pH PEDOT:PSS layer is shown to be able to significantly improve the conductivity,stretchability and air stability of the conductive films. The soft conductive films are patterned using a simple maskless patterning approach to fabricate an 8 x 8 flexible pressure sensor array. | 13 | Development and evaluation of a predictive nomogram for survival in heat stroke patients: a retrospective cohort study显示文摘BACKGROUND:This study aimed to establish an eff ective nomogram to predict the survival of heat stroke(HS)based on risk factors.METHODS:This was a retrospective,observational multicenter cohort study.We analyzed patients diagnosed with HS,who were treated between May 1 and September 30,2018 at 15 tertiary hospitals from 11 cities in Northern China.RESULTS:Among the 175 patients,32 patients(18.29%)died before hospital discharge.After the univariate analysis,mechanical ventilation,initial mean arterial pressure<70 mmHg,maximum heart rate,lab results on day 1(white blood cell count,alanine aminotransferase,creatinine),and Glasgow admission prediction score were included in multivariate analysis.Multivariate Cox regression showed that invasive ventilation,initial mean arterial pressure<70 mmHg(1 mmHg=0.133 kPa),and Glasgow admission prediction score were independent risk factors for HS.The nomogram was established for predicting 7-d and 14-d survival in the training cohort.The nomogram exhibited a concordance index(C-index)of 0.880(95%confidence interval[95%CI]0.831-0.930)by bootstrapping validation(B=1,000).Furthermore,the nomogram performed better when predicting 14-d survival,compared to 7-d survival.The prognostic index cut-off value was set at 2.085,according to the operating characteristic curve for overall survival prediction.The model showed good calibration ability in the internal and external validation datasets.CONCLUSION:A novel nomogram,integrated with prognostic factors,was proposed;it was highly predictive of the survival in HS patients. | Fei Shao Xian Shi Shu-hua Huo Qing-yu Liu Ji-xue Shi Jian Kang Ping Gong Sheng-tao Yan Guo-xing Wang Li-jie Qin Fei Wang Ke Feng Feng-ying Chen Yong-jie Yin Tao Ma Yan Li Yang Wu Hao Cui Chang-xiao Yu Song Yang Wei Gan Sai Wang Liu-ye-zi Du Ming-chen Zhao Zi-ren Tang Shen Zhao | 2022 | World Journal of Emergency Medicine2022,13,5: | 1 |

| 16 | Ultrasound-induced elevation of interlayer spacing and conductivity of CoNi hydroxides for high-performance Ni–Zn batteries显示文摘Nickel–zinc(Ni–Zn) batteries hold a lot of promise for energy storage thanks to their high output voltage, plentiful Zn supply, and low toxicity. Achieving the facile preparation of high-performance cathodes at ambient temperature remains a challenge, it is however essential for practical applications. Here, in the present study, an efficient ultrasound-assisted one-step fabrication of CoNi double hydroxide(UACoNi DH) microspheres at room temperature that performs well as a cathode for Ni–Zn batteries was proposed. This designed ultrasound-assisted method induces the formation of metal double hydroxide with an elevation of interlayer spacing and bulk conductivity while maintaining the structure features of CoNi DH prepared without ultrasound assistance. As a result, the UA-CoNi DH as an electrode material displays highly enhanced electrochemical properties relative to CoNi DH prepared without ultrasound assistance. Benefitting from the improved performance of our UA-CoNi DH electrode, the Ni–Zn battery with UA-CoNi DH as the cathode(UA-CoNi DH//Zn) delivers a good specific capacity(202.36 mAh/g) and rate performance(70.49% capacity maintained at a 10-fold higher current), presenting more than 71.61%and 21.99% improvement relative to the CoNi DH//Zn battery, respectively.
