| 2 | Nitrogen-doped fluorescence carbon dots as multi-mechanism detection for iodide and curcumin in biological and food samples显示文摘Iodine ion is one of the most indispensable anions in living organisms,particularly being an important substance for the synthesis of thyroid hormones.Curcumin is a yellow-orange polyphenol compound derived from the rhizome of Curcuma longa L.,which has been commonly used as a spice and natural coloring agent,food additives,cosmetics as well as Chinese medicine.However,excess curcumin may cause DNA inactivation,lead to a decrease in intracellular ATP levels,and trigger the tissue necrosis.Therefore,quantitative detection of iodine and curcumin is of great significance in the fields of food and life sciences.Herein,we develop nitrogen-doped fluorescent carbon dots(NCDs)as a multi-mechanism detection for iodide and curcumin in actual complex biological and food samples,which was prepared by a one-step solid-phase synthesis using tartaric acid and urea as precursors without adding any other reagents.An assembled NCDs-Hg^(2+) fluorescence-enhanced sensor for the quantitative detection of I^(-) was established based on a fluorescence“turn-off-on”mechanism in a linear range of 0.3-15μM with a detection limit of 69.4 nM and successfully quantified trace amounts of I^(-) in water samples and urine sample.Meanwhile,the as-synthesized NCDs also can be used as a fluorescent quenched sensor for curcumin detection based on the synergistic internal filtration effect(IFE)and static quenching,achieving a good linear range of 0.1-20μM with a satisfactory detection limit of 29.8 nM.These results indicate that carbon dots are potential sensing materials for iodine and curcumin detection for the good of our health. | Xiaodan Tang Hongmei Yu Brian Bui Lingyun Wang Christina Xing Shaoyan Wang Mingli Chen Zhizhi Hu Wei Chen | 2021 | Bioactive Materials2021,6,6: | 11 |
| 3 | CD30 expression in extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma,nasal type among 622 cases of mature T-cell and natural killer-cell lymphoma at a single institution in South China显示文摘Background:Mature T-cell and natural killer(NK)-cell lymphomas compose a heterogeneous group of non-Hodgkin lymphomas,and extranodal NK/T-cell lymphoma,nasal type(ENKTL) is an aggressive subtype with sporadic CD30 expression.However,the significance of CD30 expression in ENKTL is controversial.We aimed to classify a large cohort of patients with mature T-cell and NK-cell lymphomas according to the 2016 World Health Organization(WHO) classification guidelines and to study the association between CD30 expression and prognosis of patients with ENKTL.Methods:We selected consecutive patients with mature T-cell and NK-cell lymphomas who attended our institution between September 1,2009 and August 31,2013.We classified the lymphomas according to the 2016 revision of the WHO classification of lymphoid neoplasms,analyzed the associations between CD30 expression and clinicopathologic features of ENKTL patients,and evaluated the prognostic implications of CD30 expression.Results:We identified 622 consecutive patients with mature T-cell and NK-cell lymphomas,including 317(51.0%)patients with ENKTL.In addition,CD30 expression was detected in 43(47.3%) of a subset of 91 patients with ENKTL.No clinicopathologic features were associated with CD30 expression,and CD30 positivity showed no prognostic significance in patients with ENKTL.Conclusions:ENKTL is the most common type of mature T-cell and NK-cell lymphoma diagnosed at our institution.CD30 is frequently expressed in ENKTL and represents a therapeutic target;however,it may not be a prognostic marker. | Yanfen Feng Huilan Rao Yiyan Lei Yuhua Huang Fang Wang Yu Zhang Shaoyan Xi Qiuliang Wu Jianyong Shao | 2017 | Chinese Journal of Cancer2017,36,6: | 10 |

| 5 | Mining,characterization,and exploitation of EST-derived microsatellites in Gossypium barbadense显示文摘Simple sequence repeats(SSRs) have been widely applied as molecular markers in genetic studies.However,the number of expressed sequence tags(ESTs) and SSR markers from Gossypium barbadense is fewer than those from other cotton species.In this study,EST-SSR distribution from G.barbadense was characterized and new G.barbadense-derived EST-SSR markers were determined on the basis of the ESTs obtained by randomly sequencing 2 cDNA libraries associated with fiber development in G.barbadense.By mining 9697 non-redundant ESTs,a total of 638 SSR loci derived from 595 ESTs were observed.In G.barbadense,the frequency of ESTs containing SSRs was 6.13%,with an average of 1 SSR in every 10.4 kb of EST sequence.Furthermore,trinucleotide was found to be the most abundant repeat type among 2-6-nucleotide repeat types.It accounted for 26.6% of the total,followed by the hexanucleotide(26.0%) and pentanucleotide repeats(25.9%).Among all the repeat motifs,(AAG)n accounted for the highest proportion.EST-SSR primer pairs were developed using the Primer3 program,and the redundant primers were removed using the virtual PCR approach.As a result,380 non-redundant EST-SSR primer pairs were developed and used to detect polymorphisms between the mapping parents G.hirsutum 'TM-1' and G.barbadense 'Hai7124' for constructing linkage groups in cultivated allotetraploid cotton.Out of these,98(25.8%) primer pairs detected polymorphisms.Finally,95 polymorphic loci from 82 primer pairs were integrated into the backbone genetic map;of these,42 were mapped into the A subgenome and 53 into the D subgenome.The present work provided the foundation for constructing saturated genetic maps and conducting comparative genomic studies on different cotton species. | LU YuanDa CAI CaiPing WANG Lei LIN ShaoYan ZHAO Liang TIAN LiangLiang LU JunHong ZHANG TianZhen GUO WangZhen | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,18: | 5 |

| 7 | Deformation of the Haiyuan-Liupanshan fault zone inferred from the denser GPS observations显示文摘The Haiyuan-Liupanshan fault,an active tectonic feature at the Tibetan Plateau's northeastern boundary,was ruptured by two MS earthquakes(1920 and 1927)bracketing an unbroken section(the Tianzhu seismic gap).A high seismic hazard is expected along the gap.To monitor deformation characteristics and do a seismic risk assessment,we made measurements at two newly built campaign-mode Global Positioning System(GPS) stations and 13 pre-existing stations in 2013 and 2014.Adding existing data from 1999 to 2014,we derived a new velocity field.Based on the horizontal velocity,we used three block models to invert the deformation of four crustal blocks.The results suggest non-uniform deformation in the interior of the Lanzhou block,the Ordos block and the Alaxan block,but uniform deformation in the Qilian block.Fault slip rates derived from block models show a decreasing trend from west to east,(2.0-3.2 mm/a on the Haiyuan fault to 0.9-1.5 mm/a on the Liupanshan fault).The Haiyuan fault evidences sinistral striking-slip movement,while the Liupanshan fault is primarily thrusting due to transformation of the displacement between the strike-slip and crustal shortening.The locking depth of each segment along the Haiyuan fault obtained by fitting the fault parallel velocities varies drastically from west to east(21.8-7.1 km).The moment accumulation rate,calculated using the slip rate and locking depth,is positively correlated with the locking depth.Given the paucity of large seismic events during the previous millennium,the Tuolaishan segment and the Maomaoshan segment have higher likelihood of nucleation for a future event. | Yanchuan Li Chunyan Qu Xinjian Shan Xiaogang Song Guohong Zhang Weijun Gan Shaoyan Wen Zhenjie Wang | 2015 | Earthquake Science2015,28,5: | 4 |

| 9 | Fungal diversity in major oil-shale mines in China显示文摘As an insufficiently utilized energy resource,oil shale is conducive to the formation of characteristic microbial communities due to its special geological origins.However,little is known about fungal diversity in oil shale.Polymerase chain reaction cloning was used to construct the fungal ribosomal deoxyribonucleic acid internal transcribed spacer(r DNA ITS)clone libraries of Huadian Mine in Jilin Province,Maoming Mine in Guangdong Province,and Fushun Mine in Liaoning Province.Pure culture and molecular identification were applied for the isolation of cultivable fungi in fresh oil shale of each mine.Results of clone libraries indicated that each mine had over 50% Ascomycota(58.4%–98.9%)and 1.1%–13.5%unidentified fungi.Fushun Mine and Huadian Mine had 5.9% and 28.1% Basidiomycota,respectively.Huadian Mine showed the highest fungal diversity,followed by Fushun Mine and Maoming Mine.Jaccard indexes showed that the similarities between any two of three fungal communities at the genus level were very low,indicating that fungi in each mine developed independently during the long geological adaptation and formed a community composition fitting the environment.In the fresh oil-shale samples of the three mines,cultivable fungal phyla were consistent with the results of clone libraries.Fifteen genera and several unidentified fungi were identified as Ascomycota and Basidiomycota using pure culture.Penicillium was the only genus found in all three mines.These findings contributed to gaining a clear understanding of current fungal resources in major oil-shale mines in China and provided useful information for relevant studies on isolation of indigenous fungi carrying functional genes from oil shale. | Shaoyan Jiang Wenxing Wang Xiangxin Xue Chengyou Cao Ying Zhang | 2016 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2016,28,3: | 4 |

| 11 | Ecological principle meets cancer treatment: treating children with acute myeloid leukemia with low-dose chemotherapy显示文摘Standard chemotherapy regimens for remission induction of pediatric acute myeloid leukemia(AML) are associated with significant morbidity and mortality. We performed a cohort study to determine the impact of reducing the intensity of remission induction chemotherapy on the outcomes of selected children with AML treated with a low-dose induction regimen plus granulocyte colony stimulating factor(G-CSF)(low-dose chemotherapy(LDC)/G-CSF). Complete response(CR) after two induction courses was attained in 87.0%(40/46) of patients receiving LDC/G-CSF. Post-remission therapy was offered to all patients, and included standard consolidation and/or stem cell transplantation. During the study period, an additional 94 consecutive children with AML treated with standard chemotherapy(SDC) for induction(80/94(85.1%) of the patients attained CR after induction Ⅱ, P = 0.953) and post-remission. In this non-randomized study, there were no significant differences in 4-year event-free(67.4 vs. 70.7%;P = 0.99)and overall(70.3 vs. 74.6%, P = 0.69) survival in the LDC/G-CSF and SDC cohorts, respectively. After the first course of induction, recovery of white blood cell(WBC) and platelet counts were significantly faster in patients receiving LDC/G-CSF than in those receiving SDC(11.5 vs. 18.5 d for WBCs(P < 0.001);15.5 vs. 22.0 d for platelets(P < 0.001)). To examine the quality of molecular response, targeted deep sequencing was performed. Of 137 mutations detected at diagnosis in 20 children who attained hematological CR after two courses of LDC/G-CSF(n = 9) or SDC(n = 11), all of the mutations were below the reference value(variant allelic frequency <2.5%) after two courses, irrespective of the treatment group. In conclusion, children with AML receiving LDC/G-CSF appear to have similar outcomes and mutation clearance levels, but significantly lower toxicity than those receiving SDC. | 13 | Polymorphisms of MTHFR and TYMS predict capecitabine-induced hand-foot syndrome in patients with metastatic breast cancer显示文摘Background:Breast cancer is a global problem,and a large number of new cases are diagnosed every year.Capecit-abine is effective in patients with metastatic breast cancer(MBC).Hand-foot syndrome(HFS)is a common adverse effect of capecitabine.In this study,we investigated the association between single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)in genes involved in capecitabine metabolism pathways and capecitabine-induced HFS in Chinese patients with MBC to identify some predictive genetic biomarkers.Methods:We selected 3 genes involved in capecitabine metabolism and screened genetic variants in these target genes.We genotyped a total of 22 SNPs in the thymidylate synthase gene(TYMS),the methylene tetrahydrofolate reductase gene(MTHFR),and the ribonucleotide reductase M1 gene(RRM1)in 342 MBC patients treated with capecit-abine-based chemotherapy.The genotype distributions of each SNP in patients with and without HFS were assessed using Pearson’sχ^(2)test,and the relationship between HFS and genotypes of SNPs was determined using logistic regression analysis.The association between SNPs and their corresponding gene expression was analyzed using the Blood expression quantitative trait loci(eQTL)browser online tools.Results:We found 4 positive sites for HFS in the TYMS and MTHFR genes:TYMS rs2606241(P=0.022),TYMS rs2853741(P=0.019),MTHFR rs3737964(P=0.029),and MTHFR rs4846048(P=0.030).Logistic regression analyses showed that the genotype AG of MTHFR rs3737964[odds ratio(OR)=0.54,95%confidence interval(CI)0.31-0.97,P=0.038]and MTHFR rs4846048(OR=0.54,95%CI 0.30-0.98,P=0.042)were protective factors of HFS,whereas the genotype CT of TYMS rs2853741(OR=2.25,95%CI 1.31-3.87,P=0.012)increased the risk of HFS.The association between the genotype GT of TYMS rs2606241(OR=1.27,95%CI 0.73-2.23,P=0.012)and HFS was uncertain.Further eQTL analyses confirmed that the alleles of rs3737964 and rs4846048 affected the gene expression levels of MTHFR in cis.Conclusions:We have identified four potentially useful pharmacogenetic markers,TYMS rs2606241,TYMS rs2853741,MTHFR rs3737964,and MTHFR rs4846048 to predict capecitabine-induced HFS in MBC patients. | Shaoyan Lin Jian Yue Xiuwen Guan Peng Yuan Jiayu Wang Yang Luo Ying Fan Ruigang Cai Qiao Li Shanshan Chen Pin Zhang Qing Li Fei Ma Binghe Xu | 2019 | Cancer Communications2019,39,1: | 3 |

| 17 | PITPNC1 promotes the thermogenesis of brown adipose tissue under acute cold exposure显示文摘Brown adipose tissue (BAT) plays an essential role in non-shivering thermogenesis. The phosphatidylinositol transfer protein, cytoplasmic 1 (PITPNC1) is identified as a lipid transporter that reciprocally transfers phospholipids between intracellular membrane structures. However, the physiological significance of PITPNC1 and its regulatory mechanism remain unclear. Here, we demonstrate that PITPNC1 is a key player in thermogenesis of BAT. While Pitpnc1^(−/−) mice do not differ with wildtype mice in body weight and insulin sensitivity on either chow or high-fat diet, they develop hypothermia when subjected to acute cold exposure at 4℃. The Pitpnc1^(−/−) brown adipocytes exhibit defective β-oxidation and abnormal thermogenesis-related metabolism pathways in mitochondria. The deficiency of lipid mobilization in Pitpnc1^(−/−) brown adipocytes might be the result of excessive accumulation of phosphatidylcholine and a reduction of phosphatidic acid.
