3Age and genesis of the Myanmar jadeite:Constraints from U-Pb ages and Hf isotopes of zircon inclusions显示文摘Myanmar jadeite (jadeitite) is well known for its economical value and distinctive tectonic locality within the collisional belt between India and Eurasian plates. However, it is less studied for its genesis and geodynamic implications due to precipitous topography, adverse weather and local military conflicts in the area. By means of combined ICP-MS and LA-MC-ICPMS techniques, we have carried out in-situ trace elements, U-Pb and Lu-Hf isotopes for zircon inclusions in a piece of jadeite gem sample. CL imaging suggests that the zircons are metasomatic in origin, and contain mineral inclusions of jadeite and omphacite. Seventy-five analyses on 16 grains of the zircons yield a U-Pb age of 158 ± 2 Ma. The Myanmar zircons differ from other types in that they have no significant Eu anomalies despite high HREE concentrations. Measured 176Hf/177Hf ratios range from 0.282976 to 0.283122, with an average value of 0.283066 ± 7; εHf(t) value of 13.8 ± 0.3 (n=75). These results indicate that the Myanmar jadeite was formed in the Late Jurassic, probably by interaction of fluid released from subducted oceanic slab with mantle wedge. 4Association of Overlapped and Un-overlapped Comorbidities with COVID-19 Severity and Treatment Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study from Nine Provinces in China显示文摘Objective Several COVID-19 patients have overlapping comorbidities. The independent role of each component contributing to the risk of COVID-19 is unknown, and how some non-cardiometabolic comorbidities affect the risk of COVID-19 remains unclear.Methods A retrospective follow-up design was adopted. A total of 1,160 laboratory-confirmed patients were enrolled from nine provinces in China. Data on comorbidities were obtained from the patients’ medical records. Multivariable logistic regression models were used to estimate the odds ratio(OR) and 95% confidence interval(95% CI) of the associations between comorbidities(cardiometabolic or non-cardiometabolic diseases), clinical severity, and treatment outcomes of COVID-19.Results Overall, 158(13.6%) patients were diagnosed with severe illness and 32(2.7%) had unfavorable outcomes. Hypertension(2.87, 1.30–6.32), type 2 diabetes(T2 DM)(3.57, 2.32–5.49),cardiovascular disease(CVD)(3.78, 1.81–7.89), fatty liver disease(7.53, 1.96–28.96), hyperlipidemia(2.15, 1.26–3.67), other lung diseases(6.00, 3.01–11.96), and electrolyte imbalance(10.40, 3.00–26.10)were independently linked to increased odds of being severely ill. T2 DM(6.07, 2.89–12.75), CVD(8.47,6.03–11.89), and electrolyte imbalance(19.44, 11.47–32.96) were also strong predictors of unfavorable outcomes. Women with comorbidities were more likely to have severe disease on admission(5.46,3.25–9.19), while men with comorbidities were more likely to have unfavorable treatment outcomes(6.58, 1.46–29.64) within two weeks.Conclusion Besides hypertension, diabetes, and CVD, fatty liver disease, hyperlipidemia, other lung diseases, and electrolyte imbalance were independent risk factors for COVID-19 severity and poor treatment outcome. 5Changes of resting cerebral activities in subacute ischemic stroke patients显示文摘This study aimed to detect the difference in resting cerebral activities between ischemic stroke patients and healthy participants,define the abnormal site,and provide new evidence for pathological mechanisms,clinical diagnosis,prognosis prediction and efficacy evaluation of ischemic stroke.At present,the majority of functional magnetic resonance imaging studies focus on the motor dysfunction and the acute stage of ischemic stroke.This study recruited 15 right-handed ischemic stroke patients at subacute stage(15 days to 11.5 weeks) and 15 age-matched healthy participants.A resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging scan was performed on each subject to detect cerebral activity.Regional homogeneity analysis was used to investigate the difference in cerebral activities between ischemic stroke patients and healthy participants.The results showed that the ischemic stroke patients had lower regional homogeneity in anterior cingulate and left cerebrum and higher regional homogeneity in cerebellum,left precuneus and left frontal lobe,compared with healthy participants.The experimental findings demonstrate that the areas in which regional homogeneity was different between ischemic stroke patients and healthy participants are in the cerebellum,left precuneus,left triangle inferior frontal gyrus,left inferior temporal gyrus and anterior cingulate.These locations,related to the motor,sensory and emotion areas,are likely potential targets for the neural regeneration of subacute ischemic stroke patients.Ping Wu Fang Zeng Yong-xin Li Bai-li Yu Li-hua Qiu Wei Qin Ji Li Yu-mei Zhou Fan-rong Liang 2015Neural Regeneration Research2015,10,5:7
6Influence of HbA1c on short-term blood pressure variability in type 2 diabetic patients with diabetic nephropathy显示文摘The aim of this study was to understand the characteristics of blood pressure(BP)variability in subjects with diabetic nephropathy(DN),and identify the probable predictors affecting BP variability.Fifty-one chronic kidney disease(CKD)-hypertensive patients without diabetes(NDN group)and sixty type 2 diabetic patients with overt DN(DN group)were enrolled in this study.The values of short-term BP variability were obtained from 24 h ambulatory BP monitoring(ABPM).Variance analysis or nonparametric analysis revealed that 24-h systolic BP variability and nighttime systolic BP variability of the DN group were significantly higher than those of the NDN group[(12.23±3.66)vs.(10.74±3.83)mmHg,P<0.05;(11.23±4.82)vs.(9.48±3.69)mmHg,P<0.05].Then the patients of the DN group were divided into two groups according to glycated hemoglobin(HbA1c)level:Group A(HbA1c<7%)and Group B(HbA1c≥7%),and the t-test showed that patients in Group B had larger 24-h diastolic,daytime diastolic,and nighttime systolic/diastolic BP variability compared with Group A.In the DN group,partial correlation analysis revealed that HbA1c exhibited a strong association with 24-h diastolic,daytime diastolic,nighttime systolic and diastolic BP variability(P<0.001,P<0.001,P<0.05,and P<0.001,respectively).Taken together,larger short-term BP variability was detected in hypertensive type 2 diabetic patients with overt nephropathy and renal insufficiency.It may imply that the optimal BP variability level could benefit from a better glycaemic control.Fang LIU Min WU Yan-huan FENG Hui ZHONG Tian-lei CUI You-qun HUANG Ya-ping LIANG Yong-shu DIAO Li ZANG Ling LI Jing ZANG Hong-yu QIU Song-min HUANG Ping FU 2013Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2013,14,11:6

10Comparison of in vitro digestion methods for determining bioaccessibility of Hg in rice of China显示文摘Rice consumption can be a major pathway for mercury(Hg) exposure, which can cause health hazards to Chinese residents. To accurately assess the potential health risks, the bioaccessibility of Hg in rice samples collected at background and Hg-contamination sites was examined using four in vitro methods. The results showed that < 50% of the total mercury(THg) was bioaccessible in the studied rice samples. The THg bioaccessibility in the rice samples collected at the Hg-contaminated site was higher than that observed at the background area. The bioaccessibility of arsenic(As) and cadmium(Cd) was also evaluated for comparison of the four in vitro methods used in this study. The Physiologically Based Extraction Test was found to be the most accurate method based on the consistency of the results compared to those reported in previous studies. The estimated daily intakes of THg via rice consumption using the bioaccessibility data were found to meet the recommendation value set by the JECFA and the WHO in both sites. 14Effect of acupuncture plus conventional treatment on brain activity in ischemic stroke patients: a regional homogeneity analysis显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To determine differences in cerebral activity evoked by acupuncture and conventional stroke treatment, and identify the treatment targets.METHODS: In total, 21 patients were randomly divided into two groups. Group A(11 patients) received both acupuncture and conventional treatment, while group B(10 patients) received conventional treatment only. Resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging(f MRI) was performed on each participant before and after treatment. Regional homogeneity analysis was performed to investigate the potential mechanism of acupuncture treatment by comparing differences in cerebral activity between treatments.RESULTS: Group A showed higher Re Ho in the frontal lobe(BA6, BA46), supra-marginal gyrus(BA40),middle temporal gyrus(BA21), cerebellum, and insula. Group B showed higher Re Ho in the frontal lobe(BA6) and parietal lobe(BA3, BA7).CONCLUSION: Acupuncture and conventional treatment triggered relatively different clinical efficacy and brain responses. Acupuncture treatment more significantly improved the symptoms of stroke patients. 15Diagnostic Value of Cerebrospinal Fluid T-SPOT.TB for Tuberculousis Meningitis in China显示文摘The aim of this study was to evaluate the diagnostic value of the cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) T‐SPOT.TB test for the diagnosis of TB meningitis(TBM). A retrospective analysis of 96 patients with manifested meningitis was conducted; T‐SPOT.TB test was performed for diagnosing TBM to determine the diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value(PPV), and negative predictive value(NPV). A receiver operating characteristic(ROC) curve was also drawn to assess the diagnostic accuracy. The sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPV of CSF T‐SPOT.TB test were 97.8%, 78.0%, 80.3%, and 97.5%, respectively, for 52 patients(54.2%) of the 96 enrolled patients. The area under the curve(AUC) was 0.910, and the sensitivities of CSF T‐SPOT.TB for patients with stages I, II, and III of TBM were 96.7%, 97.2%, and 98.9%, respectively. 16Histopathological and imageological studies on clinical outcomes of mineralized collagen reconstruction rod for femoral head necrosis with one case report显示文摘In this article,the biodegradation process and bone formation of a mineralized collagen reconstruction rod embedding in necrosis of human femoral head were investigated by imageological and histological methods.Computed radiography(CR)computerized tomography(CT),common pathological section and hard tissue section analysis were used to evaluated the dynamics of imageological and histopathological changes of femoral head,interface between the host bone and implant and the bone reconstruction process.The results showed that the density of rods increased closed to that of host bones after 1 year implanting,and the interface between them turns to blurring.Hard tissue grinding sections analysis showed osteocytes appearing in sparse bone trabecular and bone pit region,as well as a few vessels in the degraded dye powder matrix were noticed,indicating the new bone forming between the implants and host bones.Regular decalcified sections analysis showed scattered osteoclasts,multinucleated giant cells and fibrosis components existing in the degraded rod and the host bone trabecular.Degraded debris was endocytosed by giant cells,and vascular network formed around the boundaries of the implanted rod.The good osteointegration has been expressed by the interface between the implanted rod and the host bone becoming blurred.Histological results indicated that the implanted rod degradation process and new bones regeneration simultaneously occurred around the boundaries of embedding rod.New bone and host bone were hinged and co-existed.Baogang Xie Hao Wang Jianhua Hao Ping Wang Na Zhang Jingjing Wu Zhiye Qiu Fuzhai Cui 2017Regenerative Biomaterials2017,4,4:2
17Regional brain structural abnormality in ischemic stroke patients:a voxel-based morphometry study显示文摘Our previous study used regional homogeneity analysis and found that activity in some brain areas of patients with ischemic stroke changed significantly.In the current study,we examined structural changes in these brain regions by taking structural magnetic resonance imaging scans of 11 ischemic stroke patients and 15 healthy participants,and analyzing the data using voxel-based morphometry.Compared with healthy participants,patients exhibited higher gray matter density in the left inferior occipital gyrus and right anterior white matter tract.In contrast,gray matter density in the right cerebellum,left precentral gyrus,right middle frontal gyrus,and left middle temporal gyrus was less in ischemic stroke patients.The changes of gray matter density in the middle frontal gyrus were negatively associated with the clinical rating scales of the Fugl-Meyer Motor Assessment(r=–0.609,P=0.047) and the left middle temporal gyrus was negatively correlated with the clinical rating scales of the nervous functional deficiency scale(r=–0.737,P=0.010).Our findings can objectively identify the functional abnormality in some brain regions of ischemic stroke patients.Ping Wu Yu-mei Zhou Fang Zeng Zheng-jie Li Lu Luo Yong-xin Li Wei Fan Li-hua Qiu Wei Qin Lin Chen Lin Bai Juan Nie San Zhang Yan Xiong Yu Bai Can-xin Yin Fan-rong Liang 2016Neural Regeneration Research2016,11,9:2
