| 1 | Inflammatory bowel disease serology in Asia and the West显示文摘AIM:To study serological antibodies in Caucasians and Asians,in health and inflammatory bowel disease(IBD),in Australia and Hong Kong(HK).METHODS:Anti-glycan antibodies[anti-chitobioside(ACCA),anti-laminaribioside(ALCA)],and anti-mannobioside(AMCA),anti-Saccharomyces cervisiae(gASCA);and atypical perinuclear anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody(pANCA)were tested in IBD patients, their unaffected relatives, and healthy controls in Australia and HK(China).Antibody status(positive or negative)and titre was compared between subjects of different geography, ethnicity and disease state.RESULTS:Ninety subjects were evaluated:21 Crohn’s disease(CD),32 ulcerative colitis(UC),29 healthy controls, and 8 IBD patient relatives.Forty eight subjects were Australian(29 Caucasian and 19 ethnic Han Chinese)and 42 were from HK(all Han Chinese).Caucasian CD patients had a significantly higher antibody prevalence of gASCA(67%vs 3%,P<0.001),ALCA(44%vs 6%,P=0.005),and AMCA(67%vs 15%,P=0.002),whereas HK CD patients had a higher prevalence of only AMCA(58%vs 25%,P=0.035),when compared with UC and healthy subjects in both countries.Caucasian CD had significantly higher gASCA prevalence(67%vs 0%,P<0.001)and titre(median59 vs 9,P=0.002)than HK CD patients.Prevalence and titres of ALCA,ACCA and AMCA did not differ between CD in the two countries.Presence of at least one antibody was higher in Caucasian than HK CD patients(100%vs 58%,P=0.045).pANCA did not differ between countries or ethnicity.CONCLUSION:Serologic CD responses differ between HK Asian and Australian Caucasian patients.Different genetic, environmental or disease pathogenic factors may account for these differences. | Lani Prideaux Michael A Kamm Peter De Cruz Daniel R van Langenberg Siew C Ng Iris Dotan | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,37: | 10 |

| 3 | Vedolizumab for ulcerative colitis: Real world outcomes from a multicenter observational cohort of Australia and Oxford显示文摘BACKGROUND Vedolizumab(VDZ),a humanised monoclonal antibody that selectively inhibits alpha4-beta7 integrins is approved for use in adult moderate to severe ulcerative colitis(UC)patients.AIM To assess the efficacy and safety of VDZ in the real-world management of UC in a large multicenter cohort involving two countries and to identify predictors of achieving remission.METHODS A retrospective review of Australian and Oxford,United Kingdom data for UC patients.Clinical response at 3 mo,endoscopic remission at 6 mo and clinical remission at 3,6 and 12 mo were assessed.Cox regression models and Kaplan Meier curves were performed to assess the time to remission, time to failure and the covariates influencing them.Safety outcomes were recorded.RESULTS Three hundred and three UC patients from 14 centres in Australia and United Kingdom,[60%n=182,anti-TNF naïve]were included. The clinical response was 79%at 3 mo with more Australian patients achieving clinical response compared to Oxford(83%vs 70%P=0.01).Clinical remission for all patients was 56%,62%and 60%at 3,6 and 12 mo respectively.Anti-TNF naive patients were more likely to achieve remission than exposed patients at all the time points(3 mo 66%vs 40%P<0.001,6 mo 73%vs 46%P<0.001,12 mo 66%vs 51%P=0.03).More Australian patients achieved endoscopic remission at 6 mo compared to Oxford(69%vs 43%P=0.01).On multi-variate analysis,anti-TNF naïve patients were 1.8(95%CI:1.3-2.3)times more likely to achieve remission than anti-TNF exposed(P<0.001).32 patients(11%)had colectomy by 12 mo.CONCLUSION VDZ was safe and effective with 60%of UC patients achieving clinical remission at 12 mo and prior anti-TNF exposure influenced this outcome. | Samba Siva Reddy Pulusu Ashish Srinivasan Krupa Krishnaprasad Daniel Cheng Jakob Begun CharlotteKeung Daniel Van Langenberg Lena Thin Tamara Mogilevski Peter De Cruz Graham Radford-Smith Emma Flanagan Sally Bell Soleiman Kashkooli Miles Sparrow Simon Ghaly Peter Bampton Elise Sawyer Susan Connor Quart-ul-ain Rizvi Jane M Andrews Gillian Mahy Paola Chivers Simon Travis Ian Craig Lawrance | 2020 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2020,26,30: | 2 |

| 6 | The 3rd Global Summit of Research Institutes for Disaster Risk Reduction:Expanding the Platform for Bridging Science and Policy Making显示文摘The Global Alliance of Disaster Research Institutes held its 3rd Global Summit of Research Institutes for Disaster Risk Reduction at the Disaster Prevention Research Institute,Kyoto University,Japan,19–21 March,2017.The Global Alliance seeks to contribute to enhancing disaster risk reduction(DRR) and disaster resilience through the collaboration of research organizations around the world. The summit aim was to expand the platform for bridging science and policy making by evaluating the evidence base needed to meet the expected outcomes and actions of the Sendai Framework for Disaster RiskReduction 2015–2030 and its Science and Technology Roadmap. The summit reflected the international nature of collaborative research and action.A pre-conference questionnaire filled out by Global Alliance members identified323 research projects that are indicative of current research. These were categorized to support seven parallel discussion sessions related to the Sendai Framework priorities for action.Four discussion sessions focused on research that aims to deepen the understanding of disaster risks.Three cross-cutting sessions focused on research that is aimed at the priorities for action on governance, resilience, and recovery.Discussion summaries were presentedin plenary sessions in support of outcomes for widely enhancing the science and policy of DRR. | Andrew Collins Hirokazu Tatano Wilma James Chadia Wannous Kaoru Takara Virginia Murray Charles Scawthorn Jim Mori Sarah Aziz Khalid M.Mosalam Stefan Hochrainer-Stigler Irasema Alcántara-Ayala Elisabeth Krausmann Wei-Sen Li Ana Maria Cruz Subhajyoti Samaddar Tom De Groeve Yuichi Ono Kelvin Berryman Koji Suzuki Mark Ashley Parry Peter McGowran John G.Rees | 2017 | International Journal of Disaster Risk Science2017,8,2: | 1 |
