| 1 | Klotho in cardiovascular disease:Current and future perspectives显示文摘Protein Klotho,beyond its role as a regulator of the phosphatemia,is also involved in the maintaining of the cardiovascular health,being associated its alterations with the development of cardiovascular damage and increased morbi-mortality. For all this,nowadays Klotho is the subject of a thorough research which is focused on uncover its intimate mechanisms of action,and in analyzing the utility of its modulation as a potential strategy with clinical applicability. Molecular mechanisms of Klotho are not well understood but an emerging research area links Klotho deficiency with vascular pathology. Changes in this protein have been associated with cardiovascular-related complications like inflammation,vascular calcification,and endothelial dysfunction. | 5 | Rare earth metal as a dopant element:Cerium ion as an articulator in hexavalent chromium removal by magnetic iron oxides显示文摘This study highlights introducing the rare earth metal cerium(Ce(Ⅳ))into the structure of magnetite(Fe_(3)O_(4))to achieve enhanced adsorptive properties for the removal of chromium(Cr(VI))from an aqueous medium.Different ratios of Ce(Ⅳ)were introduced into the iron oxide matrix,termed FeCe-5,FeCe-10,and FeCe-20.Their numerical values correspond to the nominal content of the dopant element added to the synthesis medium.The solid materials were characterized for morphology and chemical structure,and N_(2)physical adsorption/desorption measurements were performed.The solid materials doped with Ce(IV)have a high surface area compared to Fe_(3)O_(4),and the solid material with the highest content of the dopant ion(Ce(IV))has a 4-fold greater surface area.This increase in the dopant content in the iron oxide structure leads to a total chromium removal of 93.3%.Isotherms studies on the solid materials show that chromium adsorption follows the Langmuir model.The adsorption capacity to Fe_(3)O_(4)is 12.59 mg/g and FeCe-10 is 22.49 mg/g at 35℃.By fitting the kinetic and isothermal models,it is found that for the Fe_(3)O_(4)and FeCe-10 materials Cr(VI)removal occurs in very different ways,attributed to the different surface areas and compositions of the oxide,with the formation of the goethite(α-FeOOH)phase.The FeCe-10reuse process was performed and the removal capacity the Cr(VI)is reduced after the first cycle.This result is attributed to a strong and irreversible adsorption of Cr(VI)on the FeCe-10. | Pricila Maria Batista Chagas Maísa M.M.Lima Aline Aparecida Caetano Lucas Bragança Carvalho Nayra Maria de Abreu Piva Maria Eduarda Resende Luiz Iara do Rosário Guimarães | 2023 | Journal of Rare Earths2023,41,10: | 0 |

| 9 | Glutamine or Glutamine Dipeptide Supplementation Improves Gluconeogenesis and Liver Glycogenosis in Type 1 Diabetic Rats显示文摘The effects of the supplementation with L-glutamine(GLN)or L-alanyl-L-glutamine(GDP)on the progression of the systemic and hepatic metabolic status of rats having untreated type 1 diabetes mellitus(T1DM)were investigated.Male Wistar diabetic rats(streptozotocin,60 mg/kg)were allotted to four groups supplemented by gavage for thirty days as follows:control and diabetic receiving saline;diabetic receiving GLN(248 mg/kg);and diabetic receiving GDP(400 mg/kg).Body weight,plasmatic parameters and kidney function were analyzed.Isolated hepatocytes were used to assess gluconeogenic capacity.Liver and kidney were used for morphological analyses.T1DM decreased the number and increased the area of the hepatocytes,possibly because of the observed enlargement of glycogen stores.Kidney weight,glomerular area and proteinuria increased,and glomerular filtration rate decreased,in non-supplemented T1DM rats.Glomerular area and proteinuria were reversed by both supplementations.The T1DM hepatocytes released less glucose,which could have been diverted to glycogen synthesis and secondary glycogenosis observed in T1DM;this was partially reversed by the supplementations.The results point to a possible beneficial effect of glutamine on the metabolic and hepatic impairments of T1DM. | Silvia Carla S.F.Azevedo Carlos Vinicius D.da Rosa Ana Luiza M.Wunderlich Laís A.Yamada Isabela R.Mariano Camila Bataglini Nayra T.D.Branquinho Scarlett R.Raposo Roberto B.Bazotte Edmara A.Baroni Maria Raquel M.Natali Maria Montserrat D.Pedrosa Vilma A.F.de Godoi | 2019 | Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology2019,7,7: | 0 |
