1Transplantation of UC-MSCs on collagen scaffold activates follicles in dormant ovaries of POF patients with long history of infertility显示文摘Premature ovarian failure(POF) is a refractory disease for clinical treatment with the goal of restoring fertility. In this study,umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells on a collagen scaffold(collagen/UC-MSCs) can activate primordial follicles in vitro via phosphorylation of FOXO3 a and FOXO1. Transplantation of collagen/UC-MSCs to the ovaries of POF patients rescued overall ovarian function, evidenced by elevated estradiol concentrations, improved follicular development, and increased number of antral follicles. Successful clinical pregnancy was achieved in women with POF after transplantation of collagen/UC-MSCs or UC-MSCs. 2The aldose reductase inhibitor epalrestat exerts nephritic protection on diabetic nephropathy in db/db mice through metabolic modulation显示文摘Epalrestat is an inhibitor of aldose reductase in the polyol pathway and is used for the management of diabetic neuropathy clinically.Our pilot experiments and accumulated evidences showed that epalrestat inhibited polyol pathway and reduced sorbitol production,and suggested the potential renal protection effects of epalrestat on diabetic nephropathy (DN).To evaluate the protective effect of epalrestat,the db/db mice were used and exposed to epalrestat for 8 weeks,both the physiopathological condition and function of kidney were examined.For the first time,we showed that epalrestatmarkedlyreduced albuminuria and alleviated the podocyte foot process fusion and interstitial fibrosis of db/db mice.Metabolomics was employed,and metabolites in the plasma,renal cortex,and urine were profiled using a gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS)-based metabolomic platform.We observed an elevation of sorbitol and fructose,and a decrease of myo-inositol in the renal cortex of db/db mice. 5Insights into Cronobacter sakazakii Biofilm Formation and Control Strategies in the Food Industry显示文摘Cronobacter sakazakii(C.sakazakii)is a foodborne opportunistic pathogen that can cause life-threatening invasive diseases,such as necrotizing enterocolitis,meningitis,and sepsis in infants.The potential risk of C.sakazakii contamination of powdered infant formula(PIF)is an issue that has attracted considerable attention from manufacturers,regulators,and consumers.C.sakazakii biofilms on the surfaces of equipment and in diverse food-production environments constitute a mode of cell growth that protects the pathogen from hostile environments,and are an important source of persistent contamination of food products.Bacterial biofilms are difficult to remove due to their resistant properties.Conventional cleaning and sterilizing procedures may be insufficient for biofilm control,and may lead to further biofilm development and dispersal.Consequently,novel control strategies are being developed,such as nanotechnology-based delivery systems,interspecies interactions,antimicrobial molecules of microbial origin,natural extracts,and phages.This review focuses on describing the mechanisms underlying the biofilm formation and behavior of C.sakazakii and discussing potential control strategies.Na Ling Stephen Forsythe Qingping Wu Yu Ding Jumei Zhang Haiyan Zeng 2020Engineering2020,6,4:10
6Strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis of reinitiation into methamphetamine abusers: qualitative findings from an exploration of methamphetamine abusers in Shanghai, China显示文摘Background Despite high relapse rate among methamphetamine (MA) abusers, there still have been little empirical data to date detecting the risk factors related to craving and relapse from the perspective of MA abusers. Therefore, the aim of this study was to use qualitative research methods exploring the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threat factors that could facilitate or impede individuals' abstinence in a real-life context from the perspectives of MA abusers. Aim To use qualitative research methods exploring the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threat factors relating to individuals' abstinence in a real-life context. Method Semistructured interviews were conducted with 32 MA abusers recruited in Shanghai guided by open-ended questions on narrating the real-life catalysts and inhibitors related to craving, initiation, relapse and abstinence. All data were transcribed verbatim and analysed using a strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) analysis. Results The results of the SWOT analysis revealed that contextual factors including peer influence, prevalence and availability of MA, familiar venue of MA use, discrimination, sexual behaviours, alcohol, emotional states and their attitudes towards smoking MA were important factors that contribute to reinitiation and relapse. Surveillance systems, antidrug social workers, vocational skills trainings, moving to another city and family responsibility might serve as counter measures targeti叩 those mentioned weaknesses and threats above. Conclusion This SWOT analysis highlights the complex nature of relapse. 9Copper-Bismuth Bimetallic Microspheres for Selective Electrocatalytic Reduction of CO2 to Formate显示文摘Summary of main observation and conclusion Electrocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction holds great promise for reducing the atmospheric CO2 level and alleviating the energy crisis. High-performance electrocatalysts are often required in order to lower the high overpotential and expedite the sluggish reaction kinetics of CO2 electroreduction. Copper is a promising candidate metal. However, it usually suffers from the issues of poor stability and low product selectivity. In this work, bimetallic Cu-Bi is obtained by reducing the microspherical copper bismuthate (CuBi2O4) for selectively catalyzing the CO2 reduction to formate (HCOO-). The bimetallic Cu-Bi electrocatalyst exhibits high activity and selectivity with the Faradic efficiency over 90% in a wide potential window. A maximum Faradaic efficiency of ~95% is obtained at -0.93 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode. Furthermore, the catalyst shows high stability over 6 h with Faradaic efficiency of -95%. 10Visual and optical performance of eyes with different corneal spherical aberration implanted with aspheric intraocular lens显示文摘AIM:To compare the visual and optical performance of eyes with different corneal spherical aberration(SA) implanted with spherical aberration-free intraocular lens(IOLs).· METHODS:Thirty-six patients with different corneal SA had phacoemulsification with implantation of spherical aberration-free IOLs.Patients were divided into 3 groups according to the value of preoperative corneal SA.Eyes with corneal SA <0.10μm were assigned to group A,those with 0.10 ≤corneal SA <0.20μm to Group B,and those with 0.20≤corneal SA <0.35μm to Group C.Best-corrected visual acuity(BCVA),contrast sensitivity,corneal SA,total ocular aberrations,and depth of focus were recorded 3 months postoperatively.Distance-corrected near and intermediate visual acuity was studied to measure depth of focus.· RESULTS:BCVA and contrast sensitivity were similar between groups.There were no significant differences in distance-corrected near or intermediate visual acuity.Corneal SA was similar before and 3 months after surgery in the 3 groups.With a 5.0mm pupil diameter,root mean square values for total ocular higher-order aberrations(HOAs) were lower in groups A and B than in group C.Total ocular SA was lower in group A than in groups B and C.SA was also lower in group B than in group C.Coma and trefoil were similar between the groups.· CONCLUSION:Implantation of spherical aberration-free IOLs in eyes with different corneal SA results in similar visual performance at BCVA,contrast sensitivity and depth of focus.Xian-Hui Gong Qin-Xiang Zheng Na Wang Ding Chen Juan Zhao Jin Li and Yun-E Zhao 2012International Journal of Ophthalmology(English edition)2012,5,3:8

14The association between the genetic polymorphisms of LMP2/LMP7 and the outcomes of HCV infection among drug users显示文摘Objective:To investigate a possible association of LMP2/LMP7 genes with chronic hepatitis C virus(HCV) infection,and to assess whether LMP2/LMP7 genes could influence the outcomes of HCV infection among drug users.Methods:Genomic DNAs of 362 anti-HCV sero-positive drug users and 225 control drug users were extracted from the peripheral blood leukocytes.The sero-positive patients were divided into those who had persistent infection and those who had spontaneously cleared the infection.Polymorphisms of LMP genes were determined by PCR combined with restriction fragment length polymorphism(RFLP).Results:The distribution of LMP2 genotypes among the control,persistent infection and spontaneous clearance groups were not different.However,the LMP7 codon 145 Gln/Lys,Lys/Lys,and Gln/Lys+Lys/Lys genotypes were found significantly more frequent in the persistent infection group than in control group(OR=1.75,95%CI=1.06~2.90;OR=3.16,95%CI=1.23-8.12;OR=1.94,95%CI=1.21-3.12,respectively).Similarly,the frequencies of the codon 145 Gln/Lys,Lys/Lys,and Gln/Lys+Lys/Lys genotypes were found significantly more frequent in the persistent infection group than in the spontaneous clearance group(OR=1.64,95%CI=1.04-2.57;OR=2.40,95%CI=1.09-5.28;OR=1.76,95%CI=1.152.69,respectively).Stratified analysis indicated that combined genotype Gln/Lys+Lys/Lys of the LMP7 gene was related to an increasing susceptibility to HCV infection(OR=1.91,95%CI=1.02-3.55;OR=2.19,95%CI=1.243.89;OR=1.91,95%CI=1.05-3.48,OR=2.86,95%CI=1.41-5.78,respectively)and the risk of persistent HCV infection(OR=1.94,95%CI=1.12-3.34;OR=2.02,95%CI=1.21-3.38;OR=1.78,95%CI=1.12-2.85,OR=2.23,95%CI=1.09-4.58,respectively)among>30-year-old,males,the injection drug user(IDU)subjects and/or the shorter duration drug users(≤5 y).Conclusion:These results suggest that polymorphism of the LMP7 gene may have an influence on the outcomes of HCV infection,and is one of the factors accounting for the genetic susceptibility to HCV infection among drug users.Qian Cui Yongxiang Zhang Jing Su Chao Shi Na Lei Keqin Ding Jun Li Rongbin Yu L u Wang Ning Wang 2010The Journal of Biomedical Research2010,24,5:6
15Phi-based risk calculators performed better in the prediction of prostate cancer in the Chinese population显示文摘Risk prediction models including the Prostate Health Index(phi)for prostate cancer have been well established and evaluated in the Western population.The aim of this study is to build phi-based risk calculators in a prostate biopsy population and evaluate their performanee in predicting prostate cancer(PCa)and high-grade PCa(Gleason score 27)in the Chinese population.We developed risk calculators based on 635 men who underwent initial prostate biopsy.Then,we validated the performance of prostate-specific antigen(PSA),phi,and the risk calculators in an additional observational cohort of 1045 men.We observed that the phi-based risk calculators(risk calculators 2 and 4)outperformed the PSA-based risk calculator for predicting PCa and high-grade PCa in the training cohort.In the validation study,the area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC)for risk calculators 2 and 4 reached 0.91 and 0.92,respectively,for predicting PCa and high-grade PCa,respectively;the AUC values were better than those for risk calculator 1(PSA-based model with an AUC of 0.81 and 0.82,respectively)(all P<0.001).Such superiority was also observed in the stratified population with PSA ranging from 2.0 ng ml^-1 to 10.0 ng ml^-1.Decision curves confirmed that a considerable proportion of unnecessary biopsies could be avoided while applying phi-based risk calculators.In this study,we showed that,compared to risk calculators without phi,phi-based risk calculators exhibited superior discrimination and calibration for PCa in the Chinese biopsy population.Applying these risk calculators also considerably reduced the number of unnecessary biopsies for PCa.Yi-Shuo Wu Xiao-Jian Fu Rong Na Ding-Wei Ye Jun Qi Xiao-Ling Lin Fang Liu Jian Gong Ning Zhang Guang-Liang Jiang Hao-Wen Jiang Qiang Ding Jianfeng Xu Ying-Hao Sun 2019Asian Journal of Andrology2019,21,6:6

17Effect of lit-moxa stimulation of Guanyuan(CV 4) acupoint on levels of lactic acid and super-oxide dismutase in skeletal muscle of rats显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To observe the effect of lit-moxa stimulating acupoint Guanyuan(CV 4) on lactic acid and super-oxide dismutase(SOD) in skeletal muscle after exercise exhaustion.METHODS:Twenty-eight adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into normal control group,exhausted control group,exercise group and moxibustion group using exercise training and mild heating with lit-moxa stick as treatment methods.The exhausted control group,moxibustion group and exercise group received an exhaustive swimming after 20 days of intervention.Swimming exhausted times were recorded.Lactic acid and SOD concentration in soleus muscle were detected and compared between every two groups.RESULTS:The swimming exhausted times of the moxibustion group and the exercise group were significantly increased compare to the exhausted control group(P < 0.05).The lactic acid of the exhausted control group was significantly increased comparing with the normal control group(P <0.05),and the lactic acid of the moxibustion group and the exercise group were significantly lower than that of the exhausted control group(P < 0.05).The SOD level of the exhausted control group was significantly decreased comparing with the normal control group(P < 0.05),and the SOD level of the moxibustion group and the exercise group were significantly higher than that of the exhausted control group(both,P < 0.05).There was no statistical difference between the moxibustion group and the exercise group.CONCLUSION:With lit moxa stick,heat stimulating acupoint of Guanyuan(CV 4) decreased the levels of lactic acid and SOD in rat's skeletal muscle.Mo Jie Wu Lili Sun Zhifang Wang Hongbin Ding Na He Long Zhang Lufen Liu Tonghua Li Xiaohong 2015Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2015,35,2:6
18Description of Aphelenchoides besseyi from Abnormal Rice with ‘Small Grains and Erect Panicles’ Symptom in China显示文摘The abnormal rice with small grains and erect panicles were found on a large scale in China, which showed shortend rice panicle and decreased number of grains in comparison with normal rice, and the grain was small and black-brown, and some of them were distorted, while the flag leaf was normal. A kind of nematode of Aphelenchoides was isolated from the grains of rice variety Wuyujing 3 which performed ’small grains and erect panicles’ symptom. There were 2014 nematodes in one hundred grains infected, and up to 74 in single grain, 92 percent of the grains tested had nematodes in the infested panicles. The diagnosis characters of nematode include lateral fields about one-fourth as wide as body, with 4 incisures. The terminus bears a mucro of diverse shape with 3-4 pointed processes. The female post-vulval uterine sac extends less than 50% of distance from vulva to anus, no sperm in it. Oocytes usually arrange in 2-4 rows. The male spicules have a moderately developed rostrum. 19In-situ growth of vertically aligned nickel cobalt sulfide nanowires on carbon nanotube fibers for high capacitance all-solid-state asymmetric fiber-supercapacitors显示文摘Fiber-supercapacitors(FSCs)are promising power sources for miniature portable and wearable electronic devices.However,the development and practical application of these FSCs have been severely hindered by their low volumetric capacitance and narrow operating voltage.In this work,vertically aligned nickel cobalt sulfide(Ni Co2S4)nanowires grown on carbon nanotube(CNT)fibers were achieved through an in-situ two-step hydrothermal reaction method.The as-prepared Ni Co2S4@CNT fiber electrode exhibits a high volumetric capacitance of 2332 F cm-3,benefiting from its superior electric conductivity,large surface area,and rich Faradic redox reaction sites.Furthermore,a Ni Co2S4@CNT//VN@CNT(vanadium nitride nanosheets grown on CNT fibers)asymmetric fiber-supercapacitor(AFSC)was successfully fabricated.The device exhibits an operating voltage up to 1.6 V and a high volumetric energy density of 30.64m Wh cm-3.The device also possesses outstanding flexibility as evidenced by no obvious performance degradation under various bending angles and maintaining high capacitance after 5000 bending cycles.This work promotes the practical application of flexible wearable energy-storage devices.Na Liu Zhenghui Pan Xiaoyu Ding Jie Yang Guoguang Xu Linge Li Qi Wang Meinan Liu Yuegang Zhang 2020Journal of Energy Chemistry2020,29,2:5
