| 1 | Oligomeric Procyanidins Induce Generation of Reactive Oxygen Species and Collapse of Mitochchondrial Membrane Potential in Glioblastoma Cell Lines显示文摘Objective The aim of the present study was to clarify the mechanism underlying glioma cell death upon oligomeric procyanidins (F2) exposure. Methods The cytotoxicity of F2 on U87 (human malignant glioblastoma cell line) and C6 (rat glioma cell line) cancer cells was evaluated, and changes of mitochondrial membrane potential (MMP) and production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in drug-treated cells were monitored. Moreover, morphological changes associated with F2-induced cells death were examined. Results F2 induced a concentration-dependent increase in ROS production and decrease in MMP. Furthermore, pre-incubation with N-acetylcysteine (NAC) and rotenone (Rt), resulted in partial inhibition of F2-induced ROS generation and marked attenuation of cell death and the cytoplasmic vacuolization induced by F2. In addition, pretreatment with Rt markedly attenuated the MMP loss in F2-treated cells. However, pretreatment with NAC only markedly attenuated the MMP loss in F2-treated C6 cells. | 8 | Almandine megacrysts from Yingfengling Cenozoic basalt in Leizhou Peninsula and their parental magma origin显示文摘The garnet megacrysts from Yingfengling basalts are characterlzed by high FeO (>20%), CaO (7.02% -8.16%) and low MgO (5.88%-10.87%). Significant composition variations are observed in these megacrysts, of which Ni, V, Sc, Co, and HREE are positively correlated with their Mg# and Zr, Hf, Ga, Y, Sr, Nb, Zn and LREE-MREE are negatively correlated with Mg#. Megacryst parent magma is a highly evolved residual melt with strongl depletion in Ti, Sr, Hf, Nb and HREE. This parental magma was generated by more than 60% of crystallization fractionation of clinopyroxene, garnet, plagioclase and ilmenite from quartz tholeiitic magma. | 10 | Water Vapor Variability in the Tropical Western Pacific from 20-year Radiosonde Data显示文摘The 20-year (1976-1995) daily radinsonde data at 17 stations in the tropical western Pacific was ana- lyzed. The analysls shows that the atmosphere is more humid in a warmer climate on seasonal,inter-annual and long-term (20-year) time scales, implying a positive water vapor feedback The vertlcal structure of the long-term trends in relative humidity (RH) is distinct from that on short-term (seasonal and inter-annual) time scales, suggesting that observed water vapor changes on short time scales could not be considered as a surrogate of long-term climate change. The increasing trend of RH (3%-5% / decade) in the upper troposphere is stronger than that in the lower troposphere (1 %-2% / decade). Such verthal structure would amplify positive water vapor feedback in comparison to the common assumption of constant RH changes vertically. The empicical orthogonal function (EOF) analysis of vertical structure of RH varmtions shows distinct features of the vert1cal structure of the first three EOFs. The first three EOFs are optimal for repre- sentation of water vapor profiles and provide some hints on physical mechanisms respons1ble for observed humidity variability. Vaisala radiosondes were used at nine stations, and VIZ radiosondes used at other eight stations The Vaisala data are corrected for temperature-dependence error using the correction siheme developed by NCAR / ATD and Vaisala. The comparison of Vaisala and VIZ data shows that the VIZ-measured RHs after October 1993 have a moist bias of - 10% at RHs < 20%. | 11 | Observations of Microwave Ultra-Fast Absorption Phenomena Above Solar Active Region显示文摘While we process observational data of the Flares 22, two rare phenomena of microwave ultra fast absorption (MUFA) are found for the first time. They occurred at 3 67 GHz and 4 00 GHz in the atmospheric layers above both active regions of NOAA/USAF 4808 and 5060 in the interval 05 h50 m17 s~05 h50 m25 s UT on May 19, 1987 and 07 h38 m50 s~07 h38 m58 s UT on June 29, 1988, respectively. These absorption phenomena were observed with Phoenix Ⅱ Micowave Spectrometer at three frequencies (1 42, 2 84 and 3 67 GHz) and (1 42, 2 84 and 4 00 GHz) at Yunnan observatory. Spike emissions appeared at both 2 84 GHz and 1 42 GHz. The notable observational characteristics of both absorption phenomena are given.
