PI3K signaling pathway targeting by using different molecular approaches to treat cancer显示文摘Recent evidence of research has been proposed that the phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K) pathway is noticeable target for searching novel anticancer agents. The phosphoinositide 3-kinase(PI3K) is accountable for harmonizing a diverse range of cell functions, such as transcription, proliferation, cell survival, cell growth, degranulation, vesicular trafficking and cell migration, which are mostly involved in carcinogenesis. Particularly, PI3K-mediated signaling molecules and its effects on gene expression contribute to tumorigenesis. PI3Ks generally are grouped into three distinct classes: Ⅰ, Ⅱ and Ⅲ according to their structure and function. The class IA of PI3K includes an alpha, beta or delta p110 catalytic subunit(p110α, p110β, or p110γ), which are associated with the activation of RTKs. Mutations in PIK3CA, the gene encoding the p110α catalytic subunit of PI3K, have just been recognized as novel mechanisms of inducing oncogenic PI3K signaling. Therefore, the class IA PI3K is the only one of most evidently implicated in cancer. The PI3K pathway is mostly mutated in more cancer patients compared with normal person, making it an eyecatching molecular target for analyses based on inhibitor molecule. In this article, we highlighted the signaling effects and regulation pathway of PI3K involved in the development and survival of tumor cells. The consequence and intricacy of PI3K pathway made it an essential beneficial target for cancer treatment.Mohammad Rashid Shahid Karim Babar Ali Shamshir Khan Makhmur Ahmad Asif Husain Ravinesh Mishra 2017Journal of Chinese Pharmaceutical Sciences2017,26,9:7
Herbicide resistance: Development of wheat production systems and current status of resistant weeds in wheat cropping systems显示文摘Herbicide resistance in crops has extended the scope of herbicide applications to control weeds. The introduction of herbicide resistant crops resulted in a major shift in the way that herbicides are used in many crops, but not necessarily increased the prevalence of herbicide use, especially in wheat. Wheat is one of the most widely grown crops in the world and currently only two major herbicide-resistant wheat groups have been commercialized to manage weeds in a cost-effective manner. However, sustainable wheat production is threatened by the expanding occurrence of herbicide-resistant weed populations with limited efforts to discover new herbicide molecules. Selective control of certain problematic weeds in wheat was impossible until development and introduction of the technologies, Clearfield and Co AXium Production Systems. However, the current limitations of reliance on specific herbicides and evolution of resistant weeds mandate precautions and considerations when using these systems to prevent the loss of existing herbicide resources and continue sustainable wheat production. The focus of this review is to provide an overview of natural pre-existing herbicide resistance and development of herbicide-resistant technologies in wheat. The mechanisms of resistance to herbicides in wheat as well as the weed populations in wheat cropping systems, and implications for weed management are discussed.Sridevi Nakka Mithila Jugulam Dallas Peterson Mohammad Asif 2019The Crop Journal2019,7,6:6
Predicting minimum fluidization velocities of multi-component solid mixtures显示文摘Employing well-established mixing rules for mean properties, appropriate expressions are derived for predicting minimum fluidization velocities of multi-component solid mixtures in terms of monocomponent values for the velocity and the bed voidage at incipient fluidization.Based on flow regime and the mixing level of constituent species,it is found that these relationships differ significantly from each other, whether related to size-different or density-different mixtures. For mixed beds of size-different mixtures, the effect of volume contraction is accounted for by the mean voidage term, which is absent for segregated beds.Incorporating the volume-change of mixing leads to values of the mixture minimum fluidization velocities even lower than corresponding values for segregated bed, thus conforming to the trend reported in the literature.Size-different mixtures exhibit flow regime dependence irrespective of whether the bed is mixed or segregated. On the other hand, the mixing of constituent species does not affect the minimum fluidization velocity of density-different mixtures,as the difference in the expressions for a segregated and a mixed system is rather inconsequential.Comparison with experimental data available in the literature is made to test the efficacy of the minimum fluidization velocity expressions derived here.Mohammad Asif 2013Particuology2013,11,3:2
Morphological and Genetical Variability among Rhizoctonia solani Isolates Causing Sheath Blight Disease of Rice显示文摘Eighteen isolates of Rhizoctonia solani collected from infected rice plants in four different locations of Bangladesh were studied by using morphological characters and molecular markers. Anastomosis study with a reference isolate confirmed that all the isolates belonged to R. solani. Significant variation was observed in sclerotial size, shape and distribution. Un-weighted pair group method with arithmetic mean dendrogram constructed based on the Gower's general similarity coefficient showed that these isolates were grouped into four clusters at the 0.68 similarity coefficent according to morphological characters. Cluster I was a major cluster consisting of 13 isolates, while clusters Ⅱ to Ⅳ consisted of 1 or 2 isolates. Analyses by variable number of tandem repeat and amplified fragment length polymorphism markers showed that the isolates were grouped into five and three clusters at a similarity coefficient of 0.64 and 0.69, respectively. Although most of the variability was found between isolates from different regions as expected, significant variation was observed within the isolates collected from similar agro-ecological regions. Our results suggest the presence of different races of R. solani within the same local geographic regions.Zakiah Rahman MONI Md Ansar ALI Md Shahidul ALAM Md Asif RAHMAN Md Rejwan BHUIYAN Md Salim MIAN Khandakar Md IFTEKHARUDDAULA Md Abdul LATIF Mohammad Ashik Iqbal KHAN 2016Rice science2016,23,1:2
Effect of volume-contraction on incipient fluidization of binary-solid mixtures显示文摘Towards the development of a predictive model for computing theminimum fluidization velocity, the volume-contraction phenomenon arising from the mixing of unequal solid species is accounted for in the prediction of the bed void fraction of binary-solid mixtures at the incipient fluidization conditions.Comparison with experimental data obtained from the literature clearly shows that significantly improved predictions are obtained except for cases where the stratification pattern whether arising from the slow defluidization or the difference in the densities of the two species affects the mixing of the constituent species.Mohammad Asif 2011Particuology2011,9,2:2
Construction of high-pressure adsorption isotherm:A tool for predicting coalbed methane recovery from Jharia coalfield,India显示文摘Adsorption isotherm relates the gas storage capacity as a function of pressure at constant temperature. In this paper, adsorption isotherm of two dry borehole samples was constructed in the laboratory using the manometric method.Isotherm was measured for two gases,i.e.,CH4 and CO2 to pressure up to 8.4 MPa.Before the construction of sorption isotherm, coal was characterized by proximate, ultimate and petrographic analysis.Coalbed gas content of these two samples was found 2.29 m3/t and 2.75 m3/t.SEM images were obtained for the pore size distribution of coal using pore image analysis.Prediction of coalbed methane recovery from CH4 adsorption isotherm showed that these coalbeds are under saturated.CO2 isotherm was constructed to estimate enhanced coalbed methane(ECBM)recovery.Volume wise CO2/CH4 sorption ratio was found 2.09 times to 2.75 times respectively. This paper presents the interpretation of isotherm data to find the recovery factor of methane production from Jharia coalfield.Mohammad Asif D.C.Panigrahi Paul Naveen Keka Ojha 2019International Journal of Mining Science and Technology2019,29,5:1

Newly developed drugs invented to treat tuberculosis in clinical trial显示文摘Tuberculosis(TB) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in more than one-third of the world population. Its impact on global health is a result of decades of neglect for such an important infectious disease, lack of resources for national TB control programs, poor case detection, and inadequate/inappropriate therapy in high-burden countries. The worldwide dissemination of multidrug(MDR) and extensively drug resistant(XDR) Mycobacterium tuberculosis poses a serious threat to human health due to inadequacy of long and cumbersome tuberculosis(TB) therapy. Treatment regimens consist of at least four drugs with different mechanisms of action. Several new molecules in clinical development hasencouraged the scientific community to discover new drug targets and new drug candidates. Therefore, new drugs are urgently needed to shorten and improve the treatment course in drug resistant TB, and to minimize the occurrence of new infections and death. Nowadays, various new investigational drugs, such as bedaquine(TMC207), nitroimidazoles(PA-824, OPC-67683), diamines(SQ109), oxazolidinones(Linezolid, PNU-100480(Sutezolid), ADZ5847), pyrroles(LL3858) and fluoroquinolones(moxifloxacin and gatifloxacin), have entered clinical trials and are in progress to be developed for the treatment of MDR-TB. In this perspectivearticle, an overview of the new anti-TB drugs with different structures that are either being clinically used or in advanced stages clinical stages as well as of preclinical development are presented. This review provides snapshots of the efforts that are being made in the development of new drugs as lead anti-TB agents. Finally, it is crucial to improve the connection between research and development institutes, industries, drug contro l authorities, and international policy-making bodies to deliver efficacious therapies for patients who are suffering from TB.Mohammad Asif 2017Journal of Chinese Pharmaceutical Sciences2017,26,1:1

Post-traumatic thrombotic microangiopathy: What trauma surgeons need to know?显示文摘Thrombotic microangiopathy(TMA)is characterized by systemic microvascular thrombosis, target organ injury, anemia and thrombocytopenia.Thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura, atypical hemolytic uremic syndrome and Shiga toxin E-coli-related hemolytic uremic syndrome are the three common forms of TMAs.Traditionally,TMA is encountered during pregnancy/postpartum period, malignant hypertension, systemic infections, malignancies, autoimmune disorders, etc.Recently, the patients presenting with trauma have been reported to suffer from TMA.TMA carries a high morbidity and mortality, and demands a prompt recognition and early intervention to limit the target organ injury.Because trauma surgeons are the first line of defense for patients presenting with trauma, the prompt recognition of TMA for these experts is critically important.Early treatment of post-traumatic TMA can help improve the patient outcomes,if the diagnosis is made early. The treatment of TMA is also different from acute blood loss anemia namely in that plasmapheresis is recommended rather than platelet transfusion. This article familiarizes trauma surgeons with TMA encountered in the context of trauma.Besides,it provides a simplified approach to establishing the diagnosis of TMA.Because trauma patients can require multiple transfusions, the development of disseminated intravascular coagulation must be considered. Therefore, the article also provides different features of disseminated intravascular coagulation and TMA.Finally, the article suggests practical points that can be readily applied to the management of these patients.Mohammad A.Hossain Nasim Ahmed Varsha Gupta Ravneet Bajwa Marjan Alidoost Arif Asif Tushar Vachharajani 2021Chinese Journal of Traumatology2021,24,2:1

A multi-purpose National Forest Inventory in Bangladesh:design, operationalisation and key results显示文摘Background:National forest inventory and forest monitoring systems are more important than ever considering continued global degradation of trees and forests. These systems are especially important in a country like Bangladesh, which is characterised by a large population density, climate change vulnerability and dependence on natural resources. With the aim of supporting the Government’s actions towards sustainable forest management through reliable information, the Bangladesh Forest Inventory(BFI)was designed and implemented through three components:biophysical inventory,socio-economic survey and remote sensing-based land cover mapping. This article documents the approach undertaken by the Forest Department under the Ministry of Environment,Forests and Climate Change to establish the BFI as a multipurpose, efficient, accurate and replicable national forest assessment. The design, operationalization and some key results of the process are presented. Methods:The BFI takes advantage of the latest and most well-accepted technological and methodological approaches.Importantly,it was designed through a collaborative process which drew from the experience and knowledge of multiple national and international entities.Overall,1781 field plots were visited,6400 households were surveyed, and a national land cover map for the year 2015 was produced.Innovative technological enhancements include a semi-automated segmentation approach for developing the wall-to-wall land cover map,an object-based national land characterisation system, consistent estimates between sample-based and mapped land cover areas, use of mobile apps for tree species identification and data collection, and use of differential global positioning system for referencing plot centres. Results:Seven criteria, and multiple associated indicators, were developed for monitoring progress towards sustainable forest management goals, informing management decisions, and national and international reporting needs.A wide range of biophysical and socioeconomic data were collected, and in some cases integrated, for estimating the indicators. Conclusions:The BFI is a new information source tool for helping guide Bangladesh towards a sustainable future.Reliable information on the status of tree and forest resources,as well as land use, empowers evidence-based decision making across multiple stakeholders and at different levels for protecting natural resources. The integrated socioeconomic data collected provides information about the interactions between people and their tree and forest resources, and the valuation of ecosystem services. The BFI is designed to be a permanent assessment of these resources, and future data collection will enable monitoring of trends against the current baseline. However, additional institutional support as well as continuation of collaboration among national partners is crucial for sustaining the BFI process in future.Matieu Henry Zaheer Iqbal Kristofer Johnson Mariam Akhter Liam Costello Charles Scott Rashed Jalal Md.Akhter Hossain Nikhil Chakma Olaf Kuegler Hossain Mahmood Rajib Mahamud Mohammad Raqibul Hasan Siddique Khaled Misbahuzzaman Mohammad Main Uddin Mohammed Al Amin Farid Uddin Ahmed Gael Sola Md.Baktiar Siddiqui Luca Birigazzi Mahmudur Rahman Ilias Animon Saimunnahar Ritu Laskar Muqsudur Rahman Aminul Islam Heather Hayden Frida Sidik Mondal Falgoonee Kumar Rakibul Hassan Mukul Hossain Nishad Ariful Hoque Belal Asif Reza Anik Abdul Khaleque Md.Shaheduzzaman Syed Shahadat Hossain Tariq Aziz Md.Tauhidor Rahaman Ruhul Mohaiman Patrick Meyer Purnata Chakma A.Z.M.Manzoor Rashid Sourav Das Shrabanti Hira Mohammed Jashimuddin Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman Karl Wurster Sarder Nasir Uddin Abul Kalam Azad S.M.Zahirul Islam Laurent Saint-André 2021Forest Ecosystems2021,8,1:0
