Xinglou Chengqi Decoction improves neurological function in experimental stroke mice as evidenced by gut microbiota analysis and network pharmacology显示文摘The current study was designed to explore the brain protection mechanism of Xinglou Chengqi Decoction(XCD)based on gut microbiota analysis and network pharmacology. A transient middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) model of mice was established, followed by behavioral evaluation, TTC and TUNEL staining. Additionally, to investigate the effects of gut microbiota on neurological function after stroke, C57BL/6 mice were treated with anti-biotic cocktails 14 days prior to ischemic stroke(IS) to deplete the gut microbiota. High-throughput 16S rDNA gene sequencing, metabonomics technique, and flow multifactor technology were used to analyze bacterial communities, SCFAs and inflammatory cytokines respectively. Finally, as a supplement, network pharmacology and molecular docking were applied to fully explore the multicomponent-multitarget-multichannel mechanism of XCD in treating IS, implicated in ADME screening, target identification, network analysis, functional annotation, and pathway enrichment analysis. We found that XCD effectively improved neurological function, relieved cerebral infarction and decreased the neuronal apoptosis. Moreover, XCD promoted the release of anti-inflammatory factor like IL-10, while down-regulating pro-inflammatory factors such as TNF-α, IL-17A, and IL-22. Furthermore, XCD significantly increased the levels of short chain fatty acids(SCFAs), especially butyric acid. The mechanism might be related to the regulation of SCFAs-producing bacteria like Verrucomicrobia and Akkermansia, and bacteria that regulate inflammation like Paraprevotella, Roseburia, Streptophyta and Enterococcu. Finally, in the network pharmacological analysis, 51 active compounds in XCD and 44 intersection targets of IS and XCD were selected. As a validation, components in XCD docked well with key targets. It was obviously that biological processes were mainly involved in the regulation of apoptotic process, inflammatory response, response to fatty acid, and regulation of establishment of endothelial barrier in GO enrichment. XCD can improve neurological function in experimental stroke mice, partly due to the regulation of gut microbiota. Besises, XCD has the characteristic of 'multi-component, multi-target and multi-channel' in the treatment of IS revealed by network pharmacology and molecular docking.GAO Qiang HAN Zhen-Yun TIAN Dan-Feng LIU Gan-Lu WANG Zhen-Yi LIN Jing-Feng CHANG Ze ZHANG Dan-Dan XIE Ying-Zhen SUN Yi-Kun YAO Xing-Wei MA Da-Yong 2021Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2021,19,12:6

Optimal Waist Circumference Cut-off values for Identifying Metabolic Risk Factors in Middle-aged and Elderly Subjects in Shandong Province of China显示文摘Objective To study the optimal waist circumference(WC) cut-off values for identifying metabolic risk factors in middle-aged and elderly subjects in Shandong Province of China. Methods A total of 2 873 men and 5 559 women were included in this cross-sectional study. Metabolic syndrome(MetS) was diagnosed according to the definition of Chinese Diabetes Society in 2004. The relation between WC and MetS was analyzed by multivariate logistic regression analysis. The optimal WC cut-off values were identified using the area under the ROC curve and the different diagnostic criteria for central obesity were compared. Results The WC was the risk factor for MetS independent of BMI, blood glucose, blood lipid, and blood pressure. The optimal WC cut-off value was 83.8 cm and 91.1 cm for identifying MetS in women and men, respectively. Compared with 80 cm and 85 cm for women and men, 85 cm and 90 cm had a higher Youden index for identifying all metabolic risk factors and MetS in women and men. Conclusion The appropriate WC cut-off value is 85 cm and 90 cm for identifying central obesity and MetS in women and men in Shandong Province of China.HOU Xin Guo WANG Chuan MA Ze Qiang YANG Wei Fang WANG Ji Xiang LI Cheng Qiao WANG Yu Lian LIU Shu Min Hu Xiu Ping ZHANG Xiu Ping JIANG Mei WANG Wei Qing NING Guang ZHENG Hui Zhen MA Ai Xia SUN Yu SONG Jun LIN Peng LIANG Kai LIU Fu Qiang LI Wen Juan XIAO Juan GONG Lei WANG Mei Jian LIU Ji Dong YAN Fei YANG Jun Peng WANG Ling Shu TIAN Meng ZHAO Ru Xing JIANG Ling CHEN Li 2014Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2014,27,5:3
Information metasurfaces and intelligent metasurfaces显示文摘Metamaterials and metasurfaces have inspired worldwide interest in the recent two decades due to their extraordinary performance in controlling material parameters and electromagnetic properties. However, most studies on metamaterials and metasurfaces are focused on manipulations of electromagnetic fields and waves, because of their analog natures. The concepts of digital coding and programmable metasurfaces proposed in 2014 have opened a new perspective to characterize and design metasurfaces in a digital way,and made it possible to control electromagnetic fields/waves and process digital information simultaneously, yielding the birth of a new direction of information metasurfaces. On the other hand, artificial intelligence(AI)has become more important in automatic designs of metasurfaces. In this review paper,we first show the intrinsic natures and advantages of information metasurfaces, including information operations, programmable and real-time control capabilities, and space–time-coding strategies. Then we introduce the recent advances in designing metasurfaces using AI technologies, and particularly discuss the close combinations of information metasurfaces and AI to generate intelligent metasurfaces. We present self-adaptively smart metasurfaces,AI-based intelligent imagers, microwave cameras, and programmable AI machines based on optical neural networks. Finally,we indicate the challenges, applications, and future directions of information and intelligent metasurfaces.Qian Ma Che Liu Qiang Xiao Ze Gu Xinxin Gao Lianlin Li Tie Jun Cui 2022Photonics Insights2022,1,1:1
Directly wireless communication of human minds via non-invasive brain-computer-metasurface platform显示文摘Brain-computer interfaces(BCIs),invasive or non-invasive,have projected unparalleled vision and promise for assisting patients in need to better their interaction with the surroundings.Inspired by the BCI-based rehabilitation technologies for nerve-system impairments and amputation,we propose an electromagnetic brain-computer-metasurface(EBCM)paradigm,regulated by human’s cognition by brain signals directly and non-invasively.We experimentally show that our EBCM platform can translate human’s mind from evoked potentials of P300-based electroencephalography to digital coding information in the electromagnetic domain non-invasively,which can be further processed and transported by an information metasurface in automated and wireless fashions.Directly wireless communications of the human minds are performed between two EBCM operators with accurate text transmissions. Moreover, several other proof-of-concept mind-control schemes are presented using the same EBCM platform, exhibiting flexibly-customized capabilities of information processing and synthesis like visual-beam scanning, wave modulations, and pattern encoding.Qian Ma Wei Gao Qiang Xiao Lingsong Ding Tianyi Gao Yajun Zhou Xinxin Gao Tao Yan Che Liu Ze Gu Xianghong Kong Qammer HAbbasi Lianlin Li Cheng‑Wei Qiu Yuanqing Li Tie Jun Cui 2022eLight2022,2,1:1
High-quality Fagopyrum esculentum genome provides insights into the flavonoid accumulation among different tissues and self-incompatibility显示文摘Common buckwheat(Fagopyrum esculentum)and Tartary buckwheat(Fagopyrum tataricum),the two most widely cultivated buckwheat species, differ greatly in flavonoid content and reproductive mode. Here,we report the first high-quality and chromosome-level genome assembly of common buckwheat with 1.2 Gb.Comparative genomic analysis revealed that common buckwheat underwent a burst of long terminal repeat retrotransposons insertion accompanied by numerous large chromosome rearrangements after divergence from Tartary buckwheat. Moreover, multiple gene families involved in stress tolerance and flavonoid biosynthesis such as multidrug and toxic compound extrusion(MATE)and chalcone synthase(CHS)underwent significant expansion in buckwheat, especially in common buckwheat.Integrated multi-omics analysis identified high expression of catechin biosynthesis-related genes in flower and seed in common buckwheat and high expression of rutin biosynthesis-related genes in seed in Tartary buckwheat as being important for the differences in flavonoid type and content between these buckwheat species. We also identified a candidate key rutindegrading enzyme gene(Ft8.2377)that was highly expressed in Tartary buckwheat seed.In addition,we identified a haplotype-resolved candidate locus containing many genes reportedly associated with the development of flower and pollen, which was potentially related to self-incompatibility in common buckwheat. Our study provides important resources facilitating future functional genomics-related research of flavonoid biosynthesis and selfincompatibility in buckwheat.Qiang He Dan Ma Wei Li Longsheng Xing Hongyu Zhang Yu Wang Cailian Du Xuanzhao Li Zheng Jia Xiuxiu Li Jianan Liu Ze Liu Yuqing Miao Rui Feng Yang Lv Meijia Wang Hongwei Lu Xiaochen Li Yao Xiao Ruyu Wang Hanfei Liang Qinghong Zhou Lijun Zhang Chengzhi Liang Huilong Du 2023Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2023,65,6:0
