| 1 | Pyrite Surface after ThiobaciUusferrooxidans Leaching at 30℃显示文摘In order to investigate the effect of Thiobacillus ferrooxidans on the oxidation of pyrite, two parallel experiments, which employed H2SO4 solutions and acidic solutions inoculated with Thiobacillus ferrooxidans, were designed and carried out at 30℃. The initial pH of the two solutions was adjusted to 2.5 by dropwise addition of concentrated sulphuric acid. The surfaces of pyrite before exposure to leaching solutions and after exposure to the H2SO4 solutions and acidic solutions inoculated with Thiobacillus ferrooxidans were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). There were a variety of erosion patterns by Thiobacillus ferrooxidans on the bio-leached pyrite surfaces. A conclusion can be drawn that the oxidation of pyrite might have been caused by erosion of the surfaces. Attachment of the bacteria to pyrite surfaces resulted in erosion pits, leading to the oxidation of pyrite. It is possible that the direct mechanism plays the most important role in the oxidation of pyrite. | 2 | A comparative study of natural and experimental nano-sized grinding grain textures in rocks显示文摘In three shallow-level fault systems in eastern China, nano-sized (30―100 nm) grinding grain textures are found in the thin-shelled rheological layer representing frictional-viscous high strain field. The surface layer near slipping plane is composed of stacks of grinding grains with high sphericity and uniform nano-sized diameter, while the underlying layer appears as a mixture of irregular ones with diverse diameters. Rock deformation experiments indicate that the grinding grain texture is a common phenomenon in shearing fractures, suggesting a potential transition from sliding friction to rolling one during the rock deformation process. | 4 | Recent progress in studies layer in rock on the nano-sized particle shear planes显示文摘Since the 1990s, an ultramicro-particle texture in nano- or micron-sized scale has been continually found in shear planes of various rocks, and recently further progress was made in generic physical mechanisms. In this article, the characteristics of the nano-sized particle layer in rock shear planes (including widespread distribution, layering texture, non-linear genetic mechanism, and multiple functions) on an ultra micro-scale were briefly introduced and more information was obtained by analyzing cases from home and abroad. Our findings suggest that (1) there is a paragenetic relationship between the development of shear frictional- viscous and the formation of nano-sized particles, and (2) in the shear movement, partitioning, segregating, and layering in rocks are initiated by the sliding motion of the nano-sized particle layer. | 5 | Discovery of low-mature hydrocarbon in manganese nodules and ooze from the Central Pacific deep sea floor显示文摘Extracts from manganese nodules and ooze from the Central Pacific deep sea floor were analyzed using the chromatogram-mass spectrum, and it was found that most of the biomarker molecules are of the low-mature type (some have characteristics of mature): the ratio of 'A'/C is high between 11.4%-19.75%; CPI is 1.22-1.23; C31-22S/ (22S+22R) hopane is 0.59-0.60, Tm/Ts is 0.99-1.99; pa moretane/(αβ+βα) hopane is 0.12-0.14; C29 sterane 20S/(20S+20R) is 0.35-0.41; ββ/(ββ+αα) is 0.38-0.45; arene TA(I)/TA(I+Ⅱ) is 0.16-0.21; methyl-phenanthrene index (MPI1) is 0.35-0.67. | 6 | Mineralogical Characteristics of Unusual Black Talc Ores in Guangfeng County, Jiangxi Province, China显示文摘Talc is a hydroxyled, magnesium-rich, layered silicate that has the ideal chemical formula Mg3Si4O10(OH)2. Due to its unique properties, such as softness, chemical inertness, high thermal stability, low electrical conductivity, lamellar habit, adsorption properties, and occurrence of a wide range of particle sizes that can be easily reduced by milling and high specific surface area, talc is widely used in many industries. A stratified deposit of unusual black talc, an occurrence of talc estimated to be more than half a billion tons, was found exposed in the late Neoproterozoic Dengying Formation, located in Guangfeng County, Jiangxi Province, southeastern China. The ores occur primarily as oolitic structures (Fig. 1). The mineralogical and geochemical characteristics of the ores were investigated by using multiple techniques. The ores were found to mainly consist of talc (30%–70%), dolomite, quartz, and magnesite. Most of talc crystals are ultrafine (with an average crystallite size of smaller than 5 μm) and appear as irregular broken or distorted lamellar flakes. The total organic carbon (TOC) content of the black talc ore samples is generally lower than 1.0%. Electron-microprobe analysis (EPMA) revealed low contents of Na, K, Ca and Mn, Fe, Ni, Al in the talc oolitic particles. The talc ores have low contents of toxic elements and relatively high contents of Li and Zn. The infrared spectrum of the black talc is similar to that of white talc from Trimouns (Pyrenees, France), and their Brunauer–Emmett-Teller (BET) specific surface areas, ranging from 15.7 to 23.2 m2/g, is much higher than those of white talc (normally lower than 5.0 m2/g), which may be due to the small size of the talc crystals. | WANG Rucheng LI Chengxiang LU Xiancai ZHANG Ming | 2013 | 矿物学报2013,33,S1: | 6 |
| 7 | Nano-texture of penetrative foliation in metamorphic rocks显示文摘By observing four samples obtained from Jiangxi Province, China, under the scanning electron mi-croscope (SEM), we discovered that nano-particle layers were commonly formed on sliding planes of the penetrative foliation in metamorphic rocks. We also successfully reproduced this phenomenon with a tri-axial pressure experiment. Having gone through the granulitization-alienation-partition in the shear sliding process, the nano-particles (40-95 nm in diameter) display different individual shapes and dis-tinct layered textures. This nano-confinement layer is essentially a frictional-viscous stripe with vis-cous-elastic deformation. In the micro-domain stripe, activities in structural stress field-rheological physical field-geochemical field are very dynamic, corresponding to the three stages (i.e., shear sliding strengthening-weakening-exfoliating) of the foliation development in metamorphism rocks. | 11 | Study on the controllable synthesis of SH-MCM-41 mesoporous materials and their adsorption properties of the La3+, Gd3+and Yb3+显示文摘Sulfhydryl MCM-41(SH-MCM-41) mesoporous materials were prepared via a hydrothermal method,and-SH was successfully imported by a post-grafting method.The structure and surface properties of the materials were characterized using Fourier Transform infrared spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction and Transmission Electron Microscopy analysis.The low concentrations of La^3+,Gd^3+ and Yb^3+ adsorption on the material were investigated.This paper discusses the effects of system factors,such as pH and the solid-liquid ratio,on the performance of the adsorption process.The adsorption thermodynamics and kinetics were also explored.Experimental results indicated that the materials were in good order and had high specific surface area(956 m^2/g) with an average pore diameter of 2.1 nm;the mercapto groups were successfully grafted onto a molecular sieve,and the best grafted amount was 1.46×10^-3 mol/g.The materials showed preferable adsorption of La^3+,Gd^3+ and Yb^3+ with maximum adsorption capacities of560.56 mg/g,467.60 mg/g and 540.68 mg/g,respectively.The adsorption process can be described by the Freundlich isotherm model,and the adsorption data fits pseudo-second-order kinetics.After repeating the elution-regeneration cycle four times,the adsorption capacity of rare earth ions was mostly maintained,indicating that the adsorbent can be regenerated well and recycled to save costs.It has potential in practical application. | Xiancai Li Tianren Lu Ying Wang Yifeng Yang | 2019 | Chinese Chemical Letters2019,30,12: | 2 |

| 17 | Thermodynamic properties of calcium ferrite-type MgAl_2O_4:A first principles study显示文摘The diamond anvil cell experiments have revealed that the calcium ferrite(CF)-type aluminous phase is probably an important component of subducted mid-oceanic ridge basalt(MORB) in the lower mantle. In this study, we have performed first principles lattice dynamics calculations for the Mg Al_2O_4 end-member of the aluminous phase based on density functional perturbation theory using two functionals within the local density approximation(LDA) and generalized gradient approximation(GGA) for bracketing the calculated properties at their lower and upper limits, respectively. A simple empirical pressure correction at zero temperature has been applied to both LDA and GGA. The results of room-temperature equation of state(EOS) and zero-pressure thermal expansion calculated by GGA with pressure correction have shown the best agreement with available experimental data. The high-pressure and temperature thermodynamic properties have been obtained using the GGA with correction method. The pressure-volume relations are fitted with a third-order high-temperature Birch-Murnaghan EOS. The isobaric heat capacity, the coefficient of thermal expansion and isothermal bulk modulus are fitted with polynomials and their coefficients are reported in the range of 0–40 GPa and 300–2000 K. | 19 | Secondary Minerals of Weathered Orpiment-Realgar-Bearing Tailings in Shimen Carbonate-Type Realgar Mine,Changde, Central China显示文摘Formation and dissolution of secondary arsenic minerals often play significant roles in controlling arsenic mobility in contaminated environments, especially in sulfide mines. Weathering of the orpiment and realgar-bearing tailings from the Shimen realgar deposit, the largest realgar deposit in Asia, were studied. An integrated mineralogical analysis by using X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), Raman spectrum, scanning electron microscope (SEM) and transmission electron microscope (TEM) reveals four kinds of As-bearing secondary minerals including arsenic oxides, arsenates, As-gypsum, and As-Fe minerals. The precipitation of arsenates is due to interaction of As-bearing run-off waters and the underlying carbonate rocks, or the transformation of gypsum into arsenates or As-bearing gypsum through SO42-/HAsO42- substitution. Ca-arsenates are mainly weilite and pharmacolite with Ca/As atomic ratio of 1. | 20 | Cataclastic rheology of carbonate rocks显示文摘Based on the knowledge of the shallow-level mylonitization of detrital rocks and intrusive rocks, the poorly-known cataclastic rheology of carbonate rocks is discussed compre-hensively in this paper. The cases taken from eastern China are analyzed in various aspects including ductile-brittle fault zone, rock texture and structure, clastomylonite layer, leucocratic stress minerals, and frictional dynamometamorphism. It is proposed that the cataclastic flow structure represented by clastomylonite texture is a cooling pattern of flow assemblage charac-terized by cooling metamorphism, cooling mylonite and cooling stress minerals.
