| 1 | Main seagrass beds and threats to their habitats in the coastal sea of South China显示文摘The distribution, species, biomass,productivity of main seagrasses and their sufferedmain threats are introduced and discussed in thispaper based on the field surveys in the offshore areas of Guangdong, Guangxi and Hainan provinces.The seagrass beds distributed mainly in Liusha Bay,Donghai Island and Hailing Island of GuangdongProvince; Hepu and Pearl Bay of Guangxi ZhuangAutonomous Region; Li’an Bay, Xincun Bay, Longwan Bay and Sanya Bay of Hainan Province and soon. The total area of seagrass beds in the coastal seaof South China is about 2400 ha. There are about 8species, such as Halophila ovalis, Halodule uninervisHalophila beccarii, Zostera japonica, Enhalus acoroides, Thalassia hemperichii, Ruppia martime andCymodocea rotundata. These seagrasses have highbiomass and productivity. | 2 | Effects of dietary protein restriction on muscle fiber characteristics and m TORC1 pathway in the skeletal muscle of growing-finishing pigs显示文摘Background: To investigate the effects of dietary crude protein(CP) restriction on muscle fiber characteristics and key regulators related to protein deposition in skeletal muscle, a total of 18 growing-finishing pigs(62.30 ± 0.88 kg)were allotted to 3 groups and fed with the recommended adequate protein(AP, 16 % CP) diet, moderately restricted protein(MP, 13 % CP) diet and low protein(LP, 10 % CP) diet, respectively. The skeletal muscle of different locations in pigs, including longissimus dorsi muscle(LDM), psoas major muscle(PMM) and biceps femoris muscle(BFM) were collected and analyzed.Results: Results showed that growing-finishing pigs fed the MP or AP diet improved(P < 0.01) the average daily gain and feed: gain ratio compared with those fed the LP diet, and the MP diet tended to increase(P = 0.09) the weight of LDM. Moreover, the ATP content and energy charge value were varied among muscle samples from different locations of pigs fed the reduced protein diets. We also observed that pigs fed the MP diet up-regulated(P < 0.05) muscular m RNA expression of all the selected key genes, except that myosin heavy chain(My HC) IIb,My HC IIx, while m RNA expression of ubiquitin ligases genes was not affected by dietary CP level. | 5 | Latitudinal changes (6°S-20°N) of summer ciliate abundance and species compositions in surface waters from the Java Sea to the South China Sea显示文摘Ciliates play a curial role in energy transfer from pico-and nano-phytoplankton to mesozooplankton in marine ecosystems. In order to visualize their geographical distributions from the Java Sea to the South China Sea (6°S to 20°N), the authors investigated the ciliate abundance and species composition in surface waters during May 18 to 27 of 2010. The ciliate abundance decreased latitudinally from 3 080 ind./L (~6°S) to 40 ind./L (~3°N), and then increased to 1 180 ind./L (~16°N) at the end of the survey. A total of 22 ciliates belonging to 15 genera were identified with the tintinnids accounted for 50% (11 species); and the species number showed a same spatial change as the ciliate abundance. Moreover, the Strombidium occupied over 50% of total ciliate abundance in most stations and Mesodinium and Tintinnopsis contributed to about 18.7% and 11.4%, respectively. | 6 | Supplementation of branched-chain amino acids in protein-restricted diets modulates the expression levels of amino acid transporters and energy metabolism associated regulators in the adipose tissue of growing pigs显示文摘This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of branched-chain amino acids(BCAA)supplemented in protein-restricted diets on the growth performance and the expression profile of amino acid transporters and energy metabolism related regulators in the white adipose tissue(WAT)of different regional depots including dorsal subcutaneous adipose(DSA) and abdominal subcutaneous adipose(ASA), A total of 24 crossbred barrows(7.40 ± 0.70 kg) were randomly divided into 4 groups and were fed the following isocaloric diets for 33 days: 1) a recommended adequate protein diet(AP, 20% CP, as a positive control); 2) a low protein diet(LP, 17% CP); 3) the LP diet supplemented with BCAA(LP + B, 17% CP) to reach the same level of the AP diet group; 4) the LP diet supplemented with 2 times the amount of BCAA(LP + 2B, 17% CP). The daily gain and daily feed intake of the LP diet group were the lowest among all the treatments(P < 0.01). The feed conversion was improved markedly in the group of LP + B compared with the LP diet group(P < 0.05). No significant difference was noted for the serum biochemical parameter concentrations of glucose, triglyceride, nonesterified fatty acid and insulin among the groups(P > 0.05). Moreover, BCAA supplementation down-regulated the expression levels of amino acid transporters including L-type amino acid transporter 1 and sodium-coupled neutral amino acid transporter 2 in DSA, but up-regulated the expression level of Ltype amino acid transporter 4 in ASA(P < 0.05), Meanwhile, the energy sensor AMP-activated protein kinase α was activated in the DSA of pigs fed LP diet and in the ASA of the pigs fed AP or LP + 2B diets(P < 0.05). The mRNA expression profile of the selected mitochondrial component and mitochondrial biogenesis associated regulators in DSA and ASA also responded differently to dietary BCAA supplementation. These results suggested that the growth performance of growing pigs fed protein restricted diets supplemented with BCAA could catch up to that of the pigs fed AP diets. | 7 | Gut microbial profiles and the role in lipid metabolism in Shaziling pigs显示文摘Shaziling pig,a Chinese indigenous breed,has been classified as a fatty pig model.However,the gut microbial development and role in lipid metabolism in Shaziling pigs has been rarely reported.Here,we compared the lipid metabolic and microbial profiles at 30,60,90,150,210,and 300 d of age between Shaziling and Yorkshire pigs.Predictably,there were marked differences in the liver lipids(i.e.,cholesterol,glucose,and low-density lipoprotein)and the lipid related expressions(i.e.,SREBP1/2,LXRa/b,DGAT1/2,and FABP1-3)between Shaziling and Yorkshire pigs.Bacteria sequencing in the ileal digesta and mucosa showed that Shaziling pigs had a higher a-diversity and higher abundances of probiotics,such as Lactobacillus johnsonii,Lactobacillus amylovorus,and Clostridium butyricum.Thirty-five differentiated metabolites were further identified in the mucosa between Shaziling and Yorkshire pigs,which were enriched in the carbohydrate,protein,glucose and amino acid metabolism and bile acid biosynthesis.Furthermore,7 differentiated microbial species were markedly correlated with metabolites,indicating the role of gut microbiota in the host metabolism.Next,the role of differentiated L.johnsonii in lipid metabolism was validated in Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire(DLY)pigs and the results showed that L.johnsonii mono-colonization promoted lipid deposition and metabolism by altering gut microbiota(i.e.,Megasphaera elsdenii and L.johnsonii)and DGAT1/DGAT2/CD36-PPARg gene expressions.In conclusion,Shaziling pigs exhibited different metabolic and microbial profiles compared with Yorkshire pigs,which might have contributed to the diverse metabolic phenotypes,and the significant enrichment of L.johnsonii in Shaziling pigs promoted lipid metabolism and obesity of DLY pigs,which provided a novel idea to improve the fat content of lean pigs. | Jie Ma Yehui Duan Rui Li Xiaoxiao Liang Tiejun Li Xingguo Huang Yulong Yin Jie Yin | 2022 | Animal Nutrition2022,,2: | 6 |

| 9 | Protective effects of taurine against muscle damage induced by diquat in 35 days weaned piglets显示文摘Background: Oxidative stress is a key factor that influences piglets' health. Taurine plays an imperative role in keeping the biological system from damage. This study was conducted to investigate the protective effect of taurine against muscle injury due to the secondary effect of diquat toxicity.Results: Our study found that taurine effectively and dose-dependently alleviated the diquat toxicity induced rise of feed/gain, with a concurrent improvement of carcass lean percentage. The plasma content of taurine was considerably increased in a dose-dependent manner. Consequently, dietary taurine efficiently improved the activity of plasma antioxidant enzymes. Furthermore, taurine attenuated muscle damage by restoring mitochondrial micromorphology, suppressing protein degradation and reducing the percentage of apoptotic cells in the skeletal muscle. Taurine supplementation also suppressed the genes expression levels of the antioxidant-, mitochondrial biogenesis-, and muscle atrophy-related genes in the skeletal muscle of piglets with oxidative stress.Conclusions: These results showed that the dose of 0.60% taurine supplementation in the diet could attenuate skeletal muscle injury induced by diquat toxicity. | 10 | PhaseⅠdose-escalation and expansion study of PARP inhibitor,fluzoparib(SHR3162),in patients with advanced solid tumors显示文摘Objective:Fluzoparib(SHR3162)is a novel,potent poly(ADP-ribose)polymerases(PARP)1,2 inhibitor that showed anti-tumor activity in xenograft models.We conducted a phaseⅠ,first-in-human,dose-escalation and expansion(D-Esc and D-Ex)trial in patients with advanced solid cancer.Methods:This was a 3+3 phaseⅠD-Esc trial with a 3-level D-Ex at 5 hospitals in China.Eligible patients for DEsc had advanced solid tumors refractory to standard therapies,and D-Ex enrolled patients with ovarian cancer(OC).Fluzoparib was administered orally once or twice daily(bid)at 11 dose levels from 10 to 400 mg/d.Endpoints included dose-finding,safety,pharmacokinetics,and antitumor activity.Results:Seventy-nine patients were enrolled from March,2015 to January,2018[OC(47,59.5%);breast cancer(BC)(16,20.3%);colorectal cancer(8,10.1%),other tumors(8,10.1%)];48 patients were treated in the D-Esc arm and 31 in the D-Ex arm.The maximum tolerated dose(MTD)was 150 mg bid,with a half-life of 9.14 h.Grade 3/4 adverse events included anemia(7.6%)and neutropenia(5.1%).The objective response rate(ORR)was 30%(3/10)in patients with platinum-sensitive OC and 7.7%(1/13)in patients with BC.Among patients treated with fluzoparib≥120 mg/d,median progression-free survival(m PFS)was 7.2[95%confidence interval(95%CI),1.8-9.3]months in OC,9.3(95%CI,7.2-9.3)months in platinum-sensitive OC,and 3.5(range,2.0-28.0)months in BC.In patients with germline BC susceptibility gene mutation(g BRCAMut)(11/43 OC;2/16 BC),m PFS was 8.9 months for OC(range,1.0-23.2;95%CI,1.0-16.8)and 14 and 28 months for BC(those two patients both also had somatic BRCAMut).Conclusions:The MTD of fluzoparib was 150 mg bid in advanced solid malignancies.Fluzoparib demonstrated single-agent antitumor activity in BC and OC,particularly in BRCAMut and platinum-sensitive OC. | Huiping Li Rongrui Liu Bin Shao Ran Ran Guohong Song Ke Wang Yehui Shi Jihong Liu Wenjing Hu Fu Chen Xiaoran Liu Gairong Zhang Chuanhua Zhao Ru Jia Quanren Wang Hope S.Rugo Yifan Zhang Guangze Li Jianming Xu | 2020 | Chinese Journal of Cancer Research2020,32,3: | 4 |
| 11 | Variations in silicate concentration affecting photosynthetic carbon fixation by spring phytoplankton assemblages in surface water of the Strait of Malacca显示文摘The Strait of Malacca (SoM), the world's busiest sea-route, is increasingly polluted as the rapid development of world trades, affecting phytoplankton primary productivity therein. The variations of surface phytoplankton biomass, size-structure and carbon fixation were investigated across the SoM during the spring period (May 4 to 9, 2011). Chlorophyll a concentration increased from 0.12 μg/L at the northwest entrance of the SoM to a maximal 0.63 μg/L at narrowest section, and decreased to 0.10 μg/L at the southeast entrance. Photosynthetic carbon fixation by phytoplankton coincided well with Chl a biomass, and increased from 10.8 to 22.3 μg C/(L d), then decreased to 9.21 μg C/(L d); while the carbon fixation rate showed an inverse pattern to the changes of Chl a, and decreased from 87.1 to 35.5 μg C/(μg Chl a d) and increased thereafter to 95.3 μg C/(μg Chla·d). Picophytoplankton cells (<3 μm) contributed to more than 60% and 50% of the total Chl a and carbon fixation at both the entry waters; while the contributions of pico-cells decreased sharply to the minimum of 18.3% and 27.5% at the narrowest part of the SoM. | 12 | Comparisons of carcass traits,meat quality,and serum metabolome between Shaziling and Yorkshire pigs显示文摘This study aims to compare the meat quality of Shaziling and Yorkshire pigs and to find the potential indicator in serum for superior meat quality.Six Shaziling and Yorkshire pigs at 30,60,90,150,210,and 300 d of age were selected to examine carcass traits,meat quality,and serum metabolome.The results showed that the body weight,carcass length,and loin eye area of Shaziling pigs at 150,210,and 300 d of age were significantly lower than those of Yorkshire pigs(P<0.05).Shaziling pigs at 150 and 300 d of age had significantly lower backfat thickness than Yorkshire pigs(P<0.05).Compared with Yorkshire pigs,Shaziling pigs at all 6 ages had a lower lean percentage and a higher fat percentage(P<0.05).At 60,90,and 150 d of age,the post-mortem pH-decline,b*value(yellowness),and drip loss of Shaziling pigs were significantly lower than those of Yorkshire pigs(P<0.05).Moreover,at 150 d of age,Shaziling pigs had significantly higher a^(*)value(redness)and intramuscular fat(IMF)content than Yorkshire pigs(P<0.05).Correlation analysis between the top 40 metabolites and phenotypes indicated that L-carnitine had positive correlations with fat percentage,pH24h,and IMF content,but had negative correlations with lean percentage,L^(*)value(lightness),and b^(*)value(P<0.05).Serum L-carnitine content,fat percentage,pH24h,and IMF content all decreased first and then increased as the pigs grew,which verified the positive correlations between L-carnitine and these phenotypes.In conclusion,Shaziling pigs have a slower growth rate but a better meat quality than Yorkshire pigs.The meat quality of Shaziling pigs is the best from 150 to 210 d of age.This study suggests that a higher serum L-carnitine content is a promising indicator for better meat quality. | Bo Song Changbing Zheng Jie Zheng Shiyu Zhang Yinzhao Zhong Qiuping Guo Fengna Li Cimin Long Kang Xu Yehui Duan Yulong Yin | 2022 | Animal Nutrition2022,,1: | 3 |
| 13 | Longitudinal patterns of spring-intermonsoon phytoplankton biomass,species compositions and size structure in the Bay of Bengal显示文摘Vertical distributions of phytoplankton biomass,compositions and size structure were investigated during the spring-intermonsoon (April 22 to 30) of 2010 along transact 10 N of the Bay of Bengal,northern Indian Ocean.Surface phytoplankton biomass (Chl a) was (0.065 ± 0.009) μg/L,being greater than 80% of which was contributed by pico-phytoplankton (<3 μm).The Chl a concentration vertically increased to the maximal values at deep chlorophyll maximum (DCM) layer that shoaled eastwards from 75 to 40 m.The Chl a biomass at DCM layer generally varied between 0.2 and 0.4 μg/L,reaching the maximum of 0.56 μg/L with micro-phytoplankton cells (>20 μm) accounting for 58% and nano-(3-20 μm) or pico-cells for 15% and 27%,respectively.In particular,the cells concentration coupling well with phosphate level was observed at middle layer (75-100 m) of 87 to 89 E,dominated by micro-cells diatoms (e.g.,Chaetoceros atlanticus v.neapolitana,Chaetoceros femur and Pseudonitzschia sp.) and cyanobacteria (i.e.,Trichodesmium hildebrandtii),with the cells concentration reached as high as 4.0 × 10 4 and 4.3 × 10 4 cells/L.At the rest of the transact however,dinoflagellates (e.g.,Amphisdinium carterae and Prorocentrum sp.) were the dominant species,with the cells concentration varying from 0.3 × 10 3 to 6.8 × 10 3 cells/L.Our results also indicate that the regulation of large cells (micro-,nano-) on phytoplankton biomass merely occurred at DCM layer of the Bay. | LI Gang KE Zhixin LIN Qiang NI Guangyan SHEN Pingping LIU Huaxue YIN Jianqiang LI Kaizhi HUANG Liangmin TAN Yehui | 2012 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2012,31,2: | 2 |
| 14 | A Comparison of the Zooplankton Community in the Bay of Bengal and South China Sea During April-May, 2010显示文摘This study compares the structure of the zooplankton community in the Bay of Bengal(BoB) and South China Sea(SCS) during the period of spring inter-monsoon, 2010. A total of 215 species of zooplankton were identified, of which 187 species were present in the BoB and 119 in the SCS. Of the taxonomic groups recorded, Copepoda was the most diverse group in all samples followed by pelagic Tunicata, Siphonophorae and Chaetognatha. Flaccisagitta enflata, Cosmocalanus darwinii, Euchaeta larva, Macrura larva and Candacia truncata were predominant both in the BoB and SCS. Moreover, the distribution of some dominant species differed regionally, such as Cypridina dentata, Pleuromamma robusta and Mesosagitta decipiens only in the BoB, and Pleuromamma gracilis, Neocalanus gracilis and Eudoxoides spiralis in the SCS. The average zooplankton abundance was 33.37 ± 7.19 ind. m^(-3) in the BoB and 35.08 ± 2.07 ind. m-3 in the SCS. Copepoda was one of the most abundant groups in the Bo B and SCS. Based on multivariate analysis, it was possible to distinguish the zooplankton in the BoB and SCS communities at the similarity level of approximately 55%, and the dissimilarity was mainly due to C. dentata, P. robusta, M. decipiens, C. darwinii, N. gracilis and P. gracilis. The relationships between zooplankton and temperature, salinity and chlorophyll a were not statistically significant. | 16 | Environmental Drivers of Temporal and Spatial Fluctuations of Mesozooplankton Community in Daya Bay, Northern South China Sea显示文摘The response of zooplankton to the ecological environment in Daya Bay is unclear under the influence of both climate changes and anthropogenic activities on a seasonal to inter-annual scale.Based on monthly surveys and historical data,we found the zooplankton community had changed temporally and spatially.A total of 134 species was recorded during the study,and copepods dominated numerically in terms of diversity and abundance.Both copepods and cladocerans were the main contributors to zooplankton abundance.The community structure of zooplankton was temporally classified into the warm and cold groups,and spatially into the three groups located in the marine cage-culture area(MCCA),the outflow of nuclear power plants(ONPP)and unpolluted waters(UPW).The zooplankton was characterized by low biomass(dry weight),high diversity and abundance in the warm period in contrast to that in the cold period.Compared with the other two groups,the MCCA group of zooplankton showed high abundance,low diversity and biomass.Variations in dominant species were closely related to temperature,salinity and chlorophyll a concentration.Species diversity and dry weight decreased in comparison with 30 years ago,while zooplankton abundance increased.The seasonal variation in zooplankton was affected mainly by temperature that was controlled by monsoon,while the spatial difference in the community structure was probably due to eutrophication in the MCCA and thermal water discharge from ONPP.The zooplankton community is undergoing great changes with the tendency of miniaturization and gelatinization in recent 30 years in Daya Bay. | LI Kaizhi MA Jie HUANG Liangmin TAN Yehui SONG Xingyu | 2021 | Journal of Ocean University of China2021,20,4: | 2 |

| 19 | Dynamic structure change of Cu nanoparticles on carbon supports for CO_(2) electro-reduction toward multicarbon products显示文摘Cu nanoparticles with different sizes,morphology,and surface structures exhibit distinct activity and selectivity toward CO_(2) reduction reaction,while the reactive sites and reaction mechanisms are very controversial in experiments.In this study,we demonstrate the dynamic structure change of Cu clusters on graphite-like carbon supports plays an important role in the multicarbon production by combining static calculations and ab-initio molecular dynamic simulations.The mobility of Cu clusters on graphite is attributed to the near-degenerate energies of various adsorption configurations,as the interaction between Cu atoms and surface C atoms is weaker than that of Cu-Cu bonds in the tight cluster form.Such structure change of Cu clusters leads to step-like irregular surface structures and appropriate interparticle distances,increasing the selectivity of multicarbon products by reducing the energy barriers of C-C coupling effectively.In contrast,the large ratio of edge and corner sites on Cu clusters is responsible for the increased catalytic activity and selectivity for CO and H_(2) compared with Cu(100)surface,instead of hydrocarbon products like methane and ethylene.The detailed study reveals that the dynamic structure change of the catalysts results in roughened surface morphologies during catalytic reactions and plays an essential role in the selectivity of CO_(2) electro-reduction,which should be paid more attention for studies on the reaction mechanisms. | Qiang Li Yehui Zhang Li Shi Mingliang Wu Yixin Ouyang Jinlan Wang | 2021 | InfoMat2021,3,11: | 1 |
