1Long-chain alkenones in Hotong Qagan Nur Lake sediments and its paleoclimatic implications显示文摘The long-chain alkenones present in the shallow sediment of Hotong Qagan Nur Lake in China are reported. According to the similarity of compositions and distributions of the alkenones determined commonly in the sediment section to those of marine sediment, it is reasonably referred that the alkenones might also originate from Prymnesiophyceae. ln addition, the parameter U37k'of alkenone is in positive correlation to δ18O values of authigenic calcium and magnesium minerals. 2The alteration in the architecture of a T-DNA insertion rice mutant osmtd1 is caused by up-regulation of Micro RNA156f显示文摘Plant architecture is an important factor for crop production. Some members of micro RNA156(mi R156) and their target genes SQUAMOSA Promoter-Binding Protein-Like(SPL) were identi fi ed to play essential roles in the establishment of plant architecture. However, the roles and regulation of mi R156 is not well understood yet. Here, we identi fi ed a T-DNA insertion mutant Osmtd1(Oryza sativa multi-tillering and dwarf mutant). Osmtd1 produced more tillers and displayed short stature phenotype. We determined that the dramatic morphological changes were caused by a single T-DNA insertion in Osmtd1. Further analysis revealed that the T-DNA insertion was located in the gene Os08g34258 encoding a putative inhibitor I family protein. Os08g34258 was knocked out and Osmi R156 f was signi fi cantly upregulated in Osmtd1. Overexpression of Os08g34258 in Osmtd1 complemented the defects of the mutant architecture, while overexpression of Osmi R156 f in wild-type rice phenocopied Osmtd1. We showed that the expression of Os SPL3, Os SPL12,and Os SPL14 were signi fi cantly downregulated in Osmtd1 or Osmi R156 f overexpressed lines, indicating that Os SPL3,Os SPL12, and Os SPL14 were possibly direct target genes of Osmi R156 f. 3Hydrological effects of alpine permafrost in the headwaters of the Urumqi River,Tianshan Mountains显示文摘Against the background of climate change, alpine permafrost active layers have shown a gradual thickening trend and the hydrothermal conditions have undergone significant changes in the Tianshan Mountains and the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, China. At the ice-free cirque basins in the headwaters of the Urumqi River(hereafter referred to as the Ice-Free Cirque) in eastern Tianshan, China, the hydrological effects of the alpine permafrost active layers appear to have also exhibited significant changes recently. The increasing trend of local precipitation is clear in May and June. The onset of winter and spring snowmelt runoff clearly lags behind increases of air temperature, and the runoff peak appears near the beginning of the melting season, which results in the spring runoff increasing. In summer, runoff decreases strongly and the maximum runoff occurs earlier. In our analysis of meteorological and hydrologic data from 1959 to 2010, the runoff and precipitation changes are significantly correlated. In the initial stage of runoff, the runoff-producing process is mainly under the control of the soil water content and soil temperature in the 0–30 cm active layers. Spring precipitation and snowmelt water are mainly involved in the processes of infiltration and evaporation while some melt water infiltrates into the seasonal thawed layer and stays above the frozen layers. During the strong ablation period in summer, the runoff-generating process is mainly controlled by soil water content in the active layers deeper than 60 cm. 6Stability of core-annular flow of power-law fluids in the presence of interfacial surfactant显示文摘The shear-thinning influence on the core-annular flow stability of two immiscible power-law fluids is considered by making a linear stability analysis.The flow is driven by an axial pressure gradient in a straight pipe with the interface between the two fluids occupied by an insoluble surfactant.Given the basic flow for this core-annular arrangement,the analytical solution is obtained with respect to the power-law fluid model.The linearized equations for the evolution of infinitesimal disturbances are derived and the stability problem is formulated as a generalized matrix eigenvalue problem,which is solved by using the software package Matlab based on the QZ algorithm.The shear-thinning property is found to have marked influence on the power-law fluid core-annular flow stability,which is reflected in various aspects.First,the capillary instability is magnified by the shear-thinning property,which may lead to an essential difference between power-law and Newtonian fluid flows.Especially when the interface is close to the pipe wall,the power-law fluid flow may be unstable while the Newtonian fluid flow is stable.Second,under disturbances to the interface a velocity discontinuity at the interface appears which is destabilizing to the flow.The magnitude of this velocity discontinuity is affected by the power-law index and the flow stability is influenced correspondingly.Besides,the shear-thinning property may induce new stability modes which do not appear in the Newtonian fluid flow.The flow stability shows much dependence on the interface location,the role of which was neglected in most previous studies.The shear-thinning fluid flow is more unstable to long wave disturbances when the interface is close to the pipe wall,while the Newtonian fluid flow is more unstable when the interface is close to the pipe centerline.But this trend is changed by the addition of interfacial surfactant,for which the power-law fluid flow is more stable no matter where the interface is located.SUN XueWei,PENG Jie & ZHU KeQin Department of Engineering Mechanics,Tsinghua University,Beijing 100084,China 2010Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,5:1
7Similarities and Differences显示文摘Since the end of the war in Afghanistan, the United States has been intensely making preparations for military actions to overthrow the 'Saddam regime. ' Though there existed big differences between the pro-war factions and pro-peace factions in the United Nations, U. S. President George W. Bush vowed that his country 'would take military actions against lraq as planned even if the UN Security Council fails to pass U. S. motion to topple the Saddam regime by force.' This tells us that the second Persian Gulf War was inevitable. And people would naturally connect in mind this war with the first Persian Gulf War in 1991. What is the difference between the two Gulf wars? What follow-up move would Washington take after the second Gulf war? What impact would the war exert on the political structure of the Middle East? And what’s the prospect of relations among the big powers, especially among the United States, the European nations, Russia and China? To find answers to these questions, we invited Professor Wang Zaibang and six of his colleagues to have a panel discussion in early March. It should be mentioned that Contemporary International Relations held a discussion of similar kind in the No. 10 issue, 2002. This discussion can be seen as a follow-up to the last one. 8Finite depth Stokes' first problem of thixotropic fluid显示文摘This paper presents a study of the finite depth Stokes' first problem for a thixotropic layer. The yield behavior of the thixotropic fluid in this problem is investigated for the first time. The main physical features of this problem are discussed, including the flow field, the wall stress, and the depth of the yield region. It is shown that the yield region appears near the wall, and the yield surface moves from the wall into the flow region and moves back to the wall finally. In contrast to the solution of the Newtonian fluid,the velocity of the thixotropic layer generally does not increase with time monotonously during the start-up process. 9Clinical diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 complicated with acute renal Injury:a case report显示文摘Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)is a new disease that represents the current pandemic.Since its origin in China in December 2019,there is convincing evidence that the new SARS-CoV-2 is a highly transmissible virus.Kidney is one of the main target infected by COVID-19.We report a confirmed case of COVID-19 complicated with acute renal Injury during hospitalization.A67-year-old female patient,a farmer,had a history of close contact with COVID-19 patient.The patient developed acute kidney injury(AKI)at afternoon on the 5 th day of hospitalization(9 th day of onset),and then the patient was given high-resolution computed tomography(CRRT)for treatment.Patient outcome was clinical cure.Kidney injury has great role in screening of the evaluation of disease condition and prognosis.In additon,this case highlights the importance of CRRT for servere patients.Xu Lei Zhang Haiming Huang Changfa Lin Sha Chen Keqin He Lifang Peng Shuang Fang Zhixiong 2021实用休克杂志(中英文)2021,5,1:0
