Marsdeniae tenacissimae extract(MTE) suppresses cell proliferation by attenuating VEGF/VEGFR2 interactions and promotes apoptosis through regulating PKC pathway in human umbilical vein endothelial cells显示文摘Marsdeniae tenacissimae extract(MTE), commonly known as Xiao-Ai-Ping in China, is a traditional Chinese herb medicine capable of inhibiting proliferation and metastasis and boosting apoptosis in various cancer cells. However, little is known about the contribution of MTE towards tumor angiogenesis and the underlying mechanism. The present study aimed to evaluate the effects of MTE on the proliferation and apoptosis of human umbilical vein endothelial cells(HUVECs) and the molecular ism. 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-5(3-carboxymethoxyphenyl)-2-(4-sulfopheny)-2H-tetrazolium, inner salt(MTS) and PI-stained flow cytometry assays revealed that MTE dose-dependently reduced the proliferation of HUVECs by arresting cell cycle at S phase(P < 0.05). Annexin V-FITC/PI-stained flow cytometry confirmed that MTE(160 μL·m L-1) enhanced the apoptosis of HUVECs significantly(P < 0.001). Real-time quantitative RT-PCR and Western blot analyses showed an increase in Bax expression and a sharply decline in Bcl-2 expression; caspase-3 was activated simultaneously in a dose-dependent manner(P < 0.05). Further study observed the dose-dependent down-regulation of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) receptor-2(VEGFR-2), P2Y6 receptor(P2Y6R), and chemokine(C-C motif) ligand 2(CCL-2), along with the activation of PKC δ and up-regulation of p53 in a dose-dependent manner in MTE-treated selected cells(P < 0.05). Collectively, the results from the present study suggested that MTE suppressed the proliferation by attenuating CCL-2-mediated VEGF/VEGFR2 interactions and promoted the apoptosis through PKCδ-induced p53-dependent mitochondrial pathway in HUVECs, supporting that MTE may be developed as a potent anti-cancer medicine. | CHEN Bing-Yu CHEN Dong LYU Jian-Xin LI Kai-Qiang JIANG Meng-Meng ZENG Jing-Jing HE Xu-Jun HAO Ke TAO Hou-Quan MOU Xiao-Zhou YING You-Min ZHANG Wei ZHU Meng-Hua WANG Zhen | 2016 | Chinese Journal of Natural Medicines2016,14,12: | 6
Facile synthesis of Au embedded CuOx-CeO2 core/shell nanospheres as highly reactive and sinter-resistant catalysts for catalytic hydrogenation of p-nitrophenol显示文摘Exploring cost-effective catalysts with high catalytic performance and long-term stability has always been a general concern for environment protection and energy conversion. Here,Au nanoparticles(NPs)embedded CuOx-CeO2 core/shell nanospheres(Au@CuOx-CeO2 CSNs)have been successfully prepared through a versatile one-pot method at ambient conditions. The spontaneous auto-redox reaction between HAuCl4 and Ce(OH)3 in aqueous solution triggered the self-assembly growth of micro-/nanostructural Au@CuOx-CeO2 CSNs.Meanwhile, the CuOx clusters in Au@CuOx-CeO2 CSNs are capable of improving the anti-sintering ability of Au NPs and providing synergistic catalysis benefits. As a result, the confined Au NPs exhibited extraordinary thermal stability even at a harsh thermal condition up to 700℃.In addition, before and after the severe calcination process,Au@CuOx-CeO2 CSNs can exhibit enhanced catalytic activity and excellent recyclability towards the hydrogenation of p-nitrophenol compared to previously reported nanocatalysts. The synergistic catalysis path between Au/CuOx/CeO2 triphasic interfaces was revealed by density functional theory(DFT)calculations. The CuOx clusters around the embedded Au NPs can provide moderate adsorption strength of p-nitrophenol,while the adjacent CeO2-supported Au NPs can facilitate the hydrogen dissociation to form H*species, which contributes to achieve the efficient reduction of p-nitrophenol.This study opens up new possibilities for developing high-efficient and sintering-resistant micro-/nanostructural nanocatalysts by exploiting multiphasic systems. | Ke Wu Xin-Yu Wang Ling-Ling Guo Yue-Jiao Xu Liang Zhou Ze-Yu Lyu Kang-Yu Liu Rui Si Ya-Wen Zhang Ling-Dong Sun Chun-Hua Yan | 2020 | Nano Research2020,13,8: | 6
Progress of circulating fluidized bed combustion technology in China:a review显示文摘Circulating fluidized bed(CFB)technology plays an important role in the utilization of low-grade coal in China. This article reviews CFB combustion technology development in China and summarizes recent achievements.Since 1990 Chinese engineers and researchers have been undertaking work to improve CFB boiler technology.A completely novel CFB boiler design theory was developed and used in the domestic manufacturing of CFB boilers with various capacities.China is the largest supplier and customer of CFB boilers in the world due to the widespread use of CFB boilers. In 2007,the lower energy consumption CFB technology was successfully developed by re-specifying the fluidization state, which reduced the power consumption of forced fans and solved the potential erosion problems on the water wall.Afterwards,in order to increase the electric power generation efficiency, the supercritical CFB(SCCFB)boiler was developed and the first 600 MW SCCFB boiler was demonstrated and put into commercial operation in 2013.The success of the technology is evident with over 80 SCCFB boilers on order with capacities of 350 MW to 660 MW.Chinese scientists and engineers are also developing technology to lower the emissions of CFB combustion to meet the requirements of China’s strict emission regulations. This emission reduction is through high-efficiency desulfurization by limestone injection into the furnace and low NOx combustion,ultra-low emission of SO2 and NOx in the furnace can be realized by improving the bed quality and increasing the solid circulation rate. There is currently further research and design development being undertaken to develop a 660 MW ultra-supercritical CFB(USCCFB)boiler. The new boiler is expected to be operational before 2020 resulting in higher efficiency and lower energy consumption and emissions. | Runxia Cai Xiwei Ke Junfu Lyu Hairui Yang Man Zhang Guangxi Yue Wen Ling | 2017 | Clean Energy2017,1,1: | 5
Intratympanic dexamethasone injection for sudden sensorineural hearing loss in pregnancy显示文摘BACKGROUND As sudden sensorineural hearing loss(SSNHL)rarely occurs in pregnant women, there is a lack of knowledge and relevant research on its management.AIM To investigate the effect of intratympanic dexamethasone injection in the treatment of pregnant patients with SSNHL.METHODS A retrospective chart review was made for the period between June 2017 and August 2019 at our Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.Pregnant women who met the criteria for SSNHL were included and grouped based on the therapeutic modalities. The treatment group received intratympanic dexamethasone(2.5 mg)q.o.d.for a total of four times, while the control group received no medication other than bed rest and medical observations. All the patients were under close care of obstetricians.Pure-tone audiograms were performed before and after treatment.RESULTS Eleven patients who met the inclusion criteria were assigned to the treatment group(n=7)and the control group(n=4).The mean age of patients was 31.2±3.8 years;the right ear was affected in seven(63.64%)cases.Two patients(18.2%)suffered from vertigo,10(90.9%)suffered from tinnitus and 6(54.5%)suffered from aural fullness. The time from onset to clinic visit was relatively short, with a mean time of 1.3±0.9 d.All the women were within the second or third trimester;the average gestation period was 26.0±6.2 wk.The pure-tone averages at onset between the two groups were similar. After one wk of therapy, the treatment group had a curative rate of 57.1%and a significantly better hearing threshold and greater improvement compared to the control group(all P<0.05).Some patients experienced transient discomfort from intratympanic injections that disappeared after getting rest, while none had permanent complications. All patients delivered healthy full-term neonates with an average Apgar score of 9.7±0.5.CONCLUSION Intratympanic dexamethasone injections can be used as a first-line therapy in pregnant women with SSNHL. | Yan-Lu Lyu Fan-Qian Zeng Zhou Zhou Min Yan Wei Zhang Ming Liu Zhao-Yang Ke | 2020 | World Journal of Clinical Cases2020,8,18: | 4
Achievements, challenges and prospects for the development of broadly protective multivalent vaccines and therapeutic antibodies against hand, foot and mouth disease显示文摘Hand, foot and mouth disease(HFMD) is a significant health concern in the Asia–Pacific regions for infants and young children in recent years. However, no vaccines or therapeutics are available at present. The causative agents for HFMD include human enterovirus 71(EV71), coxsackievirus A16(CVA16) and some other viruses. Recently, tremendous progress has been made in the development of monovalent and bivalent vaccines against HFMD. A few neutralizing monoclonal antibodies against EV71 or CVA16 have been identified and characterized. Here, we reviewed some achievements for the development of broadly protective vaccines and neutralizing antibodies against HFMD, and discussed challenges and prospects toward broadly protective multivalent vaccines and therapeutic antibodies against HFMD. | Ke Lyu Rong Chen | 2015 | Science Bulletin2015,60,15: | 3
Effects of Radiation on Protein显示文摘Radiotherapy is one of the most common treatments used for solid tumors.Proteins are important components of all cells and tissues, and the main material basis of life.In the present research, more attention has been paid to the relationship between tumor radiotherapy and glycolipid metabolism, but less attention has been paid to the post-radiation effect of proteins. This article discusses the direct and indirect effects of radiation on proteins. The direct effects include changes in the structure and function of proteins,as well as to their synthesis and degradation, with the most specific effects observed on the post-translational modification of proteins.Indirect effects include changes in the whole-body nutrition level of patients, including the process of protein intake, digestion, absorption and metabolism. This article also addresses the impact of advanced radiotherapy technology, such as proton therapy and heavy ion therapy on proteins, and emphasizes the importance and feasibility of protein-supplying nutritional treatment during the“peri-radiotherapy period”. | Rong Ke Zhang Jia Hua Lyu Tao Li | 2020 | Journal of Nutritional Oncology2020,5,3: | 1

Inverse design for material anisotropy and its application for a compact X-cut TFLN on-chip wavelength demultiplexer显示文摘Inverse design focuses on identifying photonic structures to optimize the performance of photonic devices.Conventional scalar-based inverse design approaches are insufficient to design photonic devices of anisotropic materials such as lithium niobate(LN).To the best of our knowledge, this work proposes for the first time the inverse design method for anisotropic materials to optimize the structure of anisotropic-material based photonics devices.Specifically, the orientation dependent properties of anisotropic materials are included in the adjoint method, which provides a more precise prediction of light propagation within such materials. The proposed method is used to design ultra-compact wavelength division demultiplexers in the X-cut thin-film lithium niobate(TFLN)platform.By benchmarking the device performances of our method with those of classical scalar-based inverse design,we demonstrate that this method properly addresses the critical issue of material anisotropy in the X-cut TFLN platform. This proposed method fills the gap of inverse design of anisotropic materials based photonic devices, which finds prominent applications in TFLN platforms and other anisotropicmaterial based photonic integration platforms. | Jiangbo Lyu Tao Zhu Yan Zhou Zhenmin Chen Yazhi Pi Zhengtong Liu Xiaochuan Xu Ke Xu Xu Ma Lei Wang Zizheng Cao Shaohua Yu | 2023 | Opto-Electronic Science2023,2,11: | 1
Nanocarbon-Enhanced 2D Photoelectrodes:A New Paradigm in Photoelectrochemical Water Splitting显示文摘Solar-driven photoelectrochemical(PEC)water splitting systems are highly promising for converting solar energy into clean and sustainable chemical energy. In such PEC systems,an integrated photoelectrode incorporates a light harvester for absorbing solar energy,an interlayer for transporting photogenerated charge carriers, and a co-catalyst for triggering redox reactions. Thus, understanding the correlations between the intrinsic structural properties and functions of the photoelectrodes is crucial. Here we critically examine various 2D layered photoanodes/photocathodes,including graphitic carbon nitrides, transition metal dichalcogenides, layered double hydroxides, layered bismuth oxyhalide nanosheets, and MXenes, combined with advanced nanocarbons(carbon dots, carbon nanotubes, graphene, and graphdiyne)as co-catalysts to assemble integrated photoelectrodes for oxygen evolution/hydrogen evolution reactions. The fundamental principles of PEC water splitting and physicochemical properties of photoelectrodes and the associated catalytic reactions are analyzed.Elaborate strategies for the assembly of 2D photoelectrodes with nanocarbons to enhance the PEC performances are introduced. The mechanisms of interplay of 2D photoelectrodes and nanocarbon co-catalysts are further discussed. The challenges and opportunities in the field are identified to guide future research for maximizing the conversion efficiency of PEC water splitting. | Jun Ke Fan He Hui Wu Siliu Lyu Jie Liu Bin Yang Zhongjian Li Qinghua Zhang Jian Chen Lecheng Lei Yang Hou Kostya Ostrikov | 2021 | Nano-Micro Letters2021,13,2: | 1
Taxonomic Status of Three Recently Proposed Species of the Genus Kurixalus(Anura,Rhacophoridae),with Discussion on the ZooBank Registrations for Electronical Publication显示文摘In the present study,we propose the synonymization of Kurixalus silvaenaias with Kurixalus qionglaiensis. This conclusion is based on morphological examination and phylogenetic analysis of a series of newly collected specimens,as well as the type series of both nomenclatures. The publication dates of the two species were determined according to the related articles of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature.Of note, the ZooBank registrations for both species are invalid.Consequently, the publication of K.silvaenaias does not qualify as a published work and the correct publication date of K.qionglaiensis should be the date on which it was physically printed.Furthermore, based on the results presented in this study and its original description, the proposal of K.inexpectatus is deemed untenable and should, therefore,be considered a junior synonym of K.idiootocus.We further provide suggestions for the authors, editors, and publishers who are working on taxonomic publications,as well as for ZooBank to improve the registering service. | Zhitong LYU Maoliang LI Guanqi WANG Gang LIU Min LIU Ke JIANG Dechun JIANG Jiatang LI | 2024 | Asian Herpetological Research2024,15,1: | 0
Contact vibration analysis of the functionally graded material coated half-space under a rigid spherical punch显示文摘This paper studies the contact vibration problem of an elastic half-space coated with functionally graded materials(FGMs)subject to a rigid spherical punch.A static force superimposing a dynamic time-harmonic force acts on the rigid spherical punch.Firstly,we give the static contact problem of FGMs by a least-square fitting approach.Next, the dynamic contact pressure is solved by employing the perturbation method.Lastly, the dynamic contact stiffness with different dynamic contact displacement conditions is derived for the FGM coated half-space.The effects of the gradient index, coating thickness, internal friction, and punch radius on the dynamic contact stiffness factor are discussed in detail. | Xin LYU Liaoliang KE Jiayong TIAN Jie SU | 2022 | Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2022,43,8: | 0
Buyang Huanwu Decoction Ameliorates Damage of Erectile Tissue and Function Following Bilateral Cavernous Nerve Injury显示文摘Objective To verify the effect of Buyang Huanwu Decoction(BHD)in ameliorating erectile dysfunction(ED)after radical prostatectomy(RP).Methods The composition of BHD was verified by ultra-performance liquid chromatography quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry(UPLC-QTOF-MS/MS)analysis.Bilateral cavernous nerve crush injury(BCNI)in rats was used to mimic the neurovascular injury occurring after RP.By the envelope method, forty rats were randomly divided into 4 groups as follows:sham(cavernous nerves exposed only),model(BCNI),low-dosage BHD[LBHD,12.8 g/(kg·d)],and high-dosage BHD[HBHD,51.2 g/(kg·d)]groups,10 rats in each group, feeding for 3 weeks respectively.Erectile function was evaluated by measuring intracavernosal pressure(ICP).Changes in the histopathology of corpus cavernosum(CC)were examined by hematoxylin-eosin staining.Meanwhile, the fibrosis of CC was measured by Masson’s trichrome staining and Western blot was used to detect the expressions of collagen I,transforming growth factor beta 1(TGF-β1)andα-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA).Apoptosis index was detected by terminal-deoxynucleoitidyl transferase mediated nick end labeling(TUNEL)and Western blot for determining the expressions of B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl-2)and Bcl-2-associated X(Bax). The oxidative stress in the CC were assessed by the superoxide dismutase(SOD),malondialdehyde(MDA)and reactive oxygen species(ROS)levels. The proteins expression of c-Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK)and c-Jun were detected by Western blot.In addition, the expression ofα-SMA and p-c-Jun in the CC was observed by double immunofluorescence staining. Results The UPLC-QTOF-MS/MS analysis showed that BHD contained calycosin-7-O-β-D-glucoside,ononin,calycosin and formononetin.Compared with the model group,LBHD and HBHD treatment improved the ICP and the circumference, area, and weight of CC(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Furthermore,LBHD and HBHD treatments increased CC smooth muscle content and decreased apoptosis index(P<0.05 or P<0.01).LBHD and HBHD also elevated SOD and expression level ofα-SMA and Bcl-2,and reduced MDA and ROS levels,as well as expression of TGF-β1,collagen I,Bax,p-c-JNK,p-JNK in the CC compared with the model group(P<0.05 or P<0.01).The double immunofluorescence staining showed that the fluorescence degree of p-c-Jun in both LBHD and HBHD treatment groups was significantly reduced, whereas theα-SMA expression increased(P<0.05 or P<0.01).Conclusions BHD can improve ED of rats with BCNI,which is related to inhibiting fibrosis, apoptosis, and oxidative stress of CC.The ROS/JNK/c-Jun signaling pathway may play an important role in the process. | YE Miao-yong ZHAO Fan MA Ke YAO Li-juan ZHOU Kang MA Jian-xiong LYU Bo-dong XU Zeng-bao | 2023 | Chinese Journal of Integrative Medicine2023,29,9: | 0
