1How do Chinese medicines that tonify the kidney inhibit dopaminergic neuron apoptosis?显示文摘Wistar rats were intragastrically perfused with Chinese medicines used for tonifying the kidney.These included 0.180 g/mL of Herba Epimedii(Epimedium), Semen Cuscutae(Dodder Seed), or Herba Cistanches(Desertliving Cistanche), 0.04 mg/mL monoamine oxidase-B inhibitor selegiline,or distilled water for 14 consecutive days to prepare drug-containing serum or blank serum.MES23.5 cells in the logarithmic phase were cultured in media supplemented with 15%drug-containing serum for 24 hours, followed by incubation in culture solution containing 100 μmol/L H2O2for 3 hours. 3-(4,5-Dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide(MTT) and flow cytometry results showed that all drug-containing serums improved the survival rate of H2O2-injured MES23.5 cells, inhibited pro-apoptotic FasL and caspase-3 expression, promoted anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 expression. However, drug-containing serums had little influence on Fas expression in H2O2-injured MES23.5 cells. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay results showed that serum containing Herba Cistanches or Herba Epimedii increased the expression of nerve growth factor,brain-derived neurotrophic factor, and glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor in injured MES23.5cells; serum containing Semen Cuscutae only increased brain-derived neurotrophic factor expression; while expression of the above neurotrophic factors remained the same in cells treated with serum containing selegiline. 9Assessing the contribution of global wildfire biomass burning to BaP contamination in the Arctic显示文摘Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)have become cause for growing concern in the Arctic ecosystems,partly due to their stable levels despite global emission reduction.Wildfire is considered one of the primary sources that influence PAH levels and trends in the Arctic,but quantitative investigations of this influence are still lacking.This study estimates the global emissions of benzo[a]pyrene(BaP),a congener of PAHs with high carcinogenicity,from forest and grassland fires from 2001 to 2020 and simulates the contributions of wildfire-induced BaP emissions from different source regions to BaP contamination in the Arctic.We find that global wildfires contributed 29.3%to annual averaging BaP concentrations in the Arctic from 2001 to 2020.Additionally,we show that wildfires contributed significantly to BaP concentrations in the Arctic after 2011,enhancing it from 10.1%in 2011 to 83.9%in 2020.Our results reveal that wildfires accounted for 94.2%and 50.8%of BaP levels in the Asian Arctic during boreal summer and autumn,respectively,and 74.2%and 14.5%in the North American Arctic for the same seasons.The source-tagging approach identified that local wildfire biomass emissions were the largest source of BaP in the Arctic,accounting for 65.7%of its concentration,followed by those of Northern Asia(17.8%)and Northern North America(13.7%).Our findings anticipate wildfires to play a larger role in Arctic PAH contaminations alongside continually decreasing anthropogenic emissions and climate warming in the future.Shijie Song Boqi Chen Tao Huang Shuxin Ma Luqian Liu Jinmu Luo Huizhong Shen Jiaxin Wang Liang Guo Min Wu Xiaoxuan Mao Yuan Zhao Hong Gao Jianmin Ma 2023Environmental Science and Ecotechnology2023,,2:0
10Isolated Bipolar Modular Multilevel DC-DC Converter with Self-balancing Capability for Interconnection of MVDC and LVDC Grids显示文摘Bipolar medium-voltage DC(MVDC)and lowvoltage DC(LVDC)grids have the advantages of flexible integration of distributed renewable-energy generation and reliable power supply.In order to achieve voltage conversion,power transfer,and electrical isolation for bipolar MVDC and LVDC grids,a high-power DC-DC converter is essential.Therefore,this paper proposes an isolated bipolar modular multilevel DCDC converter(BiMMDC)with power self-balancing capability for interconnection of MVDC and LVDC grids.The proposed BiMMDC consists of two series connected MMCs in the MV stage to configure a bipolar MVDC interface,and interleaved converters combined with a dual-transformer are designed in the LV stage to configure the bipolar LVDC interface and to provide a self-balancing capability.Equivalent circuits of two series-connected MMCs and a dual-transformer with interleaved converters are derived.After that,operation principles of the proposed BiMMDC are introduced,considering balanced/unbalanced power transfer of bipolar LVDC grid and monopolar shortcircuit or open-circuit faults at MVDC grid.The control scheme is also presented for the proposed BiMMDC under different operating conditions.Finally,a Matlab simulation and controller hardware-in-the-loop(CHIL)evaluation results are provided to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed typology and its operating performance.Jinmu Lai Xin Yin Yaoqiang Wang Lin Jiang Zia Ullah Xianggen Yin 2023CSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems2023,9,1:0

13Chromosomal assembly of the Antarctic toothfish(Dissostichus mawsoni)genome using third-generation DNA sequencing and Hi-C technology显示文摘DEAR EDITOR,The Antarctic toothfish,Dissostichus mawsoni,belongs to the Nototheniidae family and is distributed in sub-zero temperatures below S60°latitude in the Southern Ocean.Therefore,it is an attractive model species to study the stenothermal cold-adapted character state.In this study,we successfully generated highly contiguous genome sequences of D.mawsoni,which contained 1062 scaffolds with a N50 length of 36.98 Mb and longest scaffold length of 46.82 Mb.Repetitive elements accounted for 40.87%of the genome.We also inferred 32914 protein-coding genes using in silico gene prediction and transcriptome sequencing and detected splicing variants using Isoform-Sequencing(Iso-Seq),which will be invaluable resource for further exploration of the adaptation mechanisms of Antarctic toothfish.This new high-quality reference genome of D.mawsoni provides a fundamental resource for a deeper understanding of cold adaptation and conservation of species.Seung Jae Lee Jeong-Hoon Kim Euna Jo Eunkyung Choi Jinmu Kim Seok-Gwan Choi Sangdeok Chung Hyun-Woo Kim Hyun Park 2021Zoological Research2021,42,1:0
