| 1 | New generation of multi-scale NWP system (GRAPES):general scientific design显示文摘A new generation of numerical prediction system GRAPES (a short form of Global/Regional Assimilation and PrEdiction System) was set up in China Meteorological Administration (CMA). This paper focuses on the scientific design and preliminary results of the numerical prediction model in GRAPES, including basic idea and strategy of the general scientific design, multi-scale dynamic core, physical package configuration, architecture and parallelization of the codes. A series of numerical experiments using the real data with horizontal resolutions from 10 to 280 km and idealized experiments with very high resolution up to 100 m are conducted, giving encouraging results supporting the multi-scale application of GRAPES. The results of operational implementation of GRAPES model in some NWP centers are also presented with stress at evaluations of the capability to predict the main features of precipitation in China. | 2 | The role of high mobility group box 1(HMGB1)in the pathogenesis of kidney diseases显示文摘High mobility group box 1(HMGB1) is a nuclear protein that can bind to DNA and act as a co-factor for gene transcription. When released into extracellular fluid, it plays a proinflammatory role by acting as a damage-associated molecular pattern molecule(DAMP)(also known as an alarmin) to initiate innate immune responses by activating multiple cell surface receptors such as the receptor for advanced glycation end-products(RAGE) and toll-like receptors(TLRs), TLR2, TLR4 or TLR9. This proinflammatory role is now considered to be important in the pathogenesis of a wide range of kidney diseases whether they result from hemodynamic changes, renal tubular epithelial cell apoptosis, kidney tissue fibrosis or inflammation. | 3 | Implications of stalagmite density for past climate change:An example from stalagmite growth during the last deglaciation from Wanxiang Cave,western Loess Plateau显示文摘The density of a stalagmite(WX42A)from Wanxiang Cave,Wudu County,Gansu Province,China,in the western margin of the Asian summer monsoon region,presents regular fluctuations in different deposition periods during the last deglaciation.Over long timescales,high-precision 230Th dating and high-resolution stalagmite density data indicate that the density-time series between 17644 a BP and 12758 a BP is quite similar to the stalagmite δ18O record which reflects Asian monsoon intensity.Strengthening/weakening(lighter/heavier stalagmite δ18O values)of the Asian monsoon is accompanied by increase/decrease in stalagmite density.Over short timescales,decrease in stalagmite density correlates to monsoon-retreat events such as the Inter-AllerФd Cold Period(IACP),Older Dryas(OD)and Inter-BФlling Cold Period(IBCP).Generally,this kind of decrease in stalagmite density reflects precipitation decrease with weakening of the Asian monsoon,which in turn slows cave dripwater rate and decreases crystal nuclei,leading to enlargement of calcite crystals,weakened biological activity and decreased soil pCO2 which increases the abundance of impure detrital materials in stalagmites.However,during the period of large amplitude reduction of precipitation and biological activity which resulted from extreme monsoon-retreat events,temperature variation would dominate fluctuation of stalagmite density.For example,stalagmite density increased suddenly when temperature dropped suddenly in the north Atlantic during Heinrich event 1(H-1).This may be caused by low seepage water temperature,more dissolved calcium carbonate,compact regular crystals forming under higher supersaturation,leading to the stalagmite increased density.Stalagmite density fluctuation sensitively recorded stalagmite growth history and environment,demonstrating that stalagmite density can be used as a proxy for paleoclimatic research. | ZHANG DeZhong ZHANG PingZhong SANG WenCui CHENG Hai WU XiuPing YUAN Ye BAI YiJun WANG JiangLin JIA JiHong | 2010 | Chinese Science Bulletin2010,55,34: | 7 |
| 4 | A 1556 year-long early summer moisture reconstruction for the Hexi Corridor, Northwestern China显示文摘We report a 1556 year-long tree-ring width chronology for the Hexi Corridor, in the arid Northwestern China,established by applying the signal-free regional curve standardization method to 416 juniper ring-width series. We found that drought in early summer(May–June) is the primary controlling factor for tree growth in this area. We then developed an early summer moisture(i.e., scPDSI) reconstruction from 455 CE to present. Our reconstruction captures multi-centennial scale moisture variations, showing two long-term dry periods during 800–950 CE and 1000–1200 CE, and two long-term wet periods during 1200–1450 CE and 1510–1620 CE. We found strong similarities between hydroclimatic changes in the Hexi Corridor and Qaidam Basin from interannual to centennial timescales; however, at multi-centennial(>300 years) timescales, hydroclimatic variations in the two regions showed significant regional differences. The Hexi Corridor witnessed a generally dry Medieval Climate Anomaly(MCA, here 800–1200 CE) and the drying 20 th century, whereas the Qaidam Basin experienced highprecipitation periods during the MCA and 20 th century. | 5 | Electro-optic tuning of a single-frequencyultranarrow linewidth microdisk laser显示文摘Single-frequency ultranarrow linewidth on-chip microlasers with a fast wavelength tunability play a game-changing role in a broad spectrum of applications ranging from coherent communication,light detection and ranging,to metrology and sensing.Design and fabrication of such light sources remain a challenge due to the difficulties in making a laser cavity that has an ultrahigh optical quality(Q)factor and supports only a single lasing frequency simultaneously.Here,we demonstrate a unique single-frequency ultranarrow linewidth lasing mechanism on an erbium ion-doped lithium niobate(LN)microdisk through simultaneous excitation of high-Q polygon modes at both pump and laser wavelengths.As the polygon modes are sparse within the optical gain bandwidth compared with the whispering gallery mode counterpart,while their Q factors(above 10 million)are even higher due to the significantly reduced scattering on their propagation paths,single-frequency lasing with a linewidth as narrow as 322 Hz is observed.The measured linewidth is three orders of magnitude narrower than the previous record in on-chip LN microlasers.Finally,enabled by the strong linear electro-optic effect of LN,real-time electro-optical tuning of the microlaser with a high tuning efficiency of∼50 pm∕100 V is demonstrated. | Jintian Lin Saeed Farajollahi Zhiwei Fang Ni Yao Renhong Gao Jianglin Guan Li Deng Tao Lu Min Wang Haisu Zhang Wei Fang Lingling Qiao Ya Cheng | 2022 | Advanced Photonics2022,4,3: | 4 |

| 9 | Evaluation of multidecadal and longer-term temperature changes since 850 CE based on Northern Hemisphere proxy-based reconstructions and model simulations显示文摘The temperature variability over multidecadal and longer timescales(e.g., the cold epochs in the late 15 th, 17 th, and early 19 th centuries) is significant and dominant in the millennium-long, large-scale reconstructions and model simulations;however, their temporal patterns in the reconstructed and simulated temperature series are not well understood and require a detailed assessment and comparison. Here, we compare the reconstructed and simulated temperature series for the Northern Hemisphere(NH) at multidecadal and longer-term timescales(>30 years) by evaluating their covariance, climate sensitivity and amplitude of temperature changes. We found that covariances between different reconstructions or between reconstructions and simulations are generally high for the whole period of 850–1999 CE, due to their similar long-term temporal patterns. However,covariances between different reconstructions or between reconstructions and simulations steadily decline as time series extends further back in time, becoming particularly small during Medieval times. This is related to the large uncetainties in the reconstructions caused by the decreased number of proxy records and sample duplication during the pre-instrumental periods.Reconstructions based solely on tree-ring data show higher skill than multiproxy reconstructions in capturing the amplitude of volcanic cooling simulated by models. Meanwhile, climate models have a shorter recovery(i.e., lag) in response to the cooling caused by volcanic eruptions and solar activity minima, implying the lack of some important feedback mechanisms between external forcing and internal climate processes in climate models. Amplitudes of temperature variations in the latest published tree-ring reconstructions are comparable to those of the multiproxy reconstructions. | 12 | Risk of tuberculosis in patients with rheumatoid arthritis treated with biological and targeted drugs:meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials显示文摘Background:Concerns exist regarding the potential development of tuberculosis in patients with rheumatoid arthritis(RA)treated with biological and targeted drugs.We assessed systematically whether biological therapy increased the risk of tuberculosis in patients with RA by meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials(RCTs).Methods:A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed,Embase,the Cochrane Library,and China Biology Medicine disc for RCTs evaluating biological therapy in patients with RA from inception through August 2021.Traditional meta-analysis and network meta-analysis were performed to compare the risk of tuberculosis for each biologics class in patients with RA.Peto odds ratio(Peto OR)and its 95%confidence interval(CI)were calculated as the primary effect measure.Results:In total,39 studies with 20,354 patients were included in this meta-analysis,and 82 patients developed tuberculosis.The risk of tuberculosis was increased in patients treated with biologics compared with non-biologics(Peto OR:3.86,95%CI:2.36-6.32,P<0.001).Also,tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)inhibitors had a higher probability of developing tuberculosis than placebo(Peto OR:3.98,95%CI:2.30-6.88,P<0.001).However,network meta-analysis demonstrated that there was no significant difference in the risk of tuberculosis for each biologics class in patients with RA.Noticeably,tuberculosis was significantly more common in patients treated with a high dose compared with patients receiving a low dose of tofacitinib(Peto OR:7.39,95%CI:2.00-27.31,P=0.003).Conclusion:This meta-analysis demonstrates the evidence of an elevated risk of tuberculosis in patients with RA treated with TNF-αinhibitors,and a dose-dependent elevated risk of tuberculosis in patients treated with tofacitinib. | Xiaojian Ji Lidong Hu Yiwen Wang Siliang Man Xingkang Liu Chuan Song Jiaxin Zhang Jian Zhu Jianglin Zhang Feng Huang | 2022 | Chinese Medical Journal2022,,4: | 2 |

| 20 | Application of Superhydrophobic Surface on Boiling Heat Transfer Characteristics of Nanofluids显示文摘Boiling heat transfer is a mode using the phase change of working medium to strengthen the heat exchange due to its good heat exchange capability,and it is widely used in heat exchange engineering.Nanofluids have been used in the direction of enhanced heat transfer for their superior thermophysical property.The wetting,spreading and ripple phenomena of superhydrophobic surfaces widely exist in nature and daily life.It has great application value for engineering technology.In this article,the boiling heat exchange characteristics of nanofluids on superhydrophobic surface are numerically studied.It was found that with the increase of superheating degree,the steam volume ratio of unmodified heated surface increases to saturation,while the steam volume and evaporation ratio of modified superhydrophobic surface increase firstly and then decrease.At the same time,bubbles are generated and accumulated more fully on superhydrophobic surface.It was also found that nanofluids with low viscosity are more affected by superhydrophobic surface characteristics,and the increase is more significant with high superheating degree,and the superhydrophobic surface is beneficial to enhancing boiling heat exchange.Compared with the simulation results,it could be concluded that the boiling heat exchange performance of CuO-water nano-fluids on the modified superhydrophobic surface is better than that of CuO-ethylene glycol nanofluids under high superheating degree. | Cong Qi Yuxing Wang Zi Ding Jianglin Tu Mengxin Zhu | 2021 | Energy Engineering2021,118,4: | 0 |
