3Upregulation of vimentin and aberrant expression of E-cadherin /beta-catenin complex in oral squamous cell carcinomas:correlation with the clinicopathological features and patient outcome显示文摘Oral squamous cell carcinoma is a challenging oncology problem.A reliable biomarker for metastasis or high-risk prognosis in oral cancer patients remains undefined.Using quantitative immunohistochemistry,we examined the expression of vimentin,E-cadherin,and beta-catenin in 83 oral squamous cell carcinoma patients,and the relationships between the expression of these markers and specific clinicopathological features were analysed.The high expression of vimentin was observed in 23 of 43(53%) tumours from patients who eventually developed a recurrent tumour and was associated with recurrence and death(P < 0.001 and < 0.001,respectively).The decreased expression of E-cadherin was observed in 36 of 43(84%) tumours from patients who eventually developed a recurrent tumour and was also associated with recurrence and death(P < 0.001 and < 0.001,respectively).Although no correlation between beta-catenin expression in whole-tumour sections and clinicopathological features was observed,decreased beta-catenin expression at the tumour invasive front was closely associated with recurrence and death(P=0.002 and 0.002,respectively).The expression of vimentin and that of E-cadherin were associated with survival and were independent prognostic factors in univariate and multivariate analyses.Our data show that the overexpression of vimentin was closely associated with recurrence and death in oral squamous cell carcinoma patients.The combination of the upregulation of vimentin and aberrant expression of E-cadherin/beta-catenin complexes at the tumour invasive front may provide a useful prognostic marker in oral squamous cell carcinoma.Liu,LK Jiang,XY Zhou,XX Wang,DM Song,XL Jiang,HB Nanjing Med Univ,Coll Stomatol,Dept Oral Pathol,Nanjing 210029,Jiangsu,Peoples R China Nanjing Med Univ,Inst Stomatol,Dept Oral Pathol,Nanjing 210029,Jiangsu,Peoples R China Nanjing Med Univ,Coll Stomatol,Dept Oral & Maxillofacial Surg,Nanjing 210029,Jiangsu,Peoples R China 2010南京医科大学学报(自然科学版)2010,30,5:25

5High expression levels of IKK alpha and IKK beta are necessary for the malignant properties of liver cancer显示文摘IKK-NF-kappa B signaling is regarded as an important factor in hepatocarcinogenesis and a potential target for liver cancer therapy.Therefore,in this study,we analyzed the expression of mRNAs encoding components and targets of NF-kappa B signaling including IKK alpha,IKK beta,RANK,RANKL,OPG,CyclinD3,mammary serine protease inhibitor(Maspin),CyclinD1,c-FLIP,Bcl-x1,Stat3,Cip1 and Cip2 by real-time PCR in 40 patients with liver cancer.After statistical analysis,7 indices including IKK alpha,IKK beta,RANK,Maspin,c-FLIP,Cip2 and cyclinD1 were found to show significant differences between tumor tissue and its corresponding adjacent tissue.When IKK alpha and IKK beta were downregulated in the hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) cell lines of MHCC-97L and MHCC-97H in vitro,the numbers of BrdU positive cells were decreased in both IKK alpha and IKK beta knockdown cells.Levels of apoptosis were also investigated in IKK alpha and IKK beta knockdown cells.The growth of HCC was inhibited in the subcutaneous implantation model,and lung metastatogenesis was also significantly inhibited in the kidney capsule transplantation model.Downregulation of IKK alpha and IKK beta in HCC cultured in vitro revealed that increased Maspin,OPG and RANKL expression was associated with metastasis of HCC.These findings were associated with downregulation of Bcl-XL and c-FLIP,which may be the reason for increased apoptosis.The therapeutic effect of IKK alpha and IKK beta downregulation depends on extent of NF-kappa B inhibition and the malignant nature of the HCC.We anticipate that IKK-targeted gene therapy can be used in the treatment of HCC,a cancer that is notoriously resistant to radiation and chemotherapy.Jiang,RQ Xia,YX Li,J Deng,L Zhao,L Shi,J Wang,XH Sun,BC Nanjing Med Univ,Liver Transplantat Ctr,Affiliated Hosp 1,Nanjing,Jiangsu Prov,Peoples R China Nanjing Med Univ,Ctr Canc,Nanjing,Jiangsu Prov,Peoples R China 2010南京医科大学学报(自然科学版)2010,30,5:13
6Lithological Discrimination of the Mafic-Ultramafic Complex, Huitongshan, Beishan, China: Using ASTER Data显示文摘The Beishan area has more than seventy mafic-ultramafic complexes sparsely distributed in the area and is of a big potential in mineral resources related to mafic-ultramafic intrusions. Many mafic-ultramafic intrusions which are mostly in small sizes have been omitted by previous works. This research takes Huitongshan as the study area, which is a major district for mafic-ultramafic occurrences in Beishan. Advanced spaceborne thermal emission and reflection radiometer(ASTER) data have been processed and interpreted for mapping the mafic-ultramafic complex. ASTER data were processed by different techniques that were selected based on image reflectance and laboratory emissivity spectra. The visible near-infrared(VNIR) and short wave infrared(SWIR) data were transformed using band ratios and minimum noise fraction(MNF), while the thermal infrared(TIR) data were processed using mafic index(MI) and principal components analysis(PCA). ASTER band ratios(6/8, 5/4, 2/1) in RGB image and MNF(1, 2, 4) in RGB image were powerful in distinguishing the subtle differences between the various rock units. PCA applied to all five bands of ASTER TIR imagery highlighted marked differences among the mafic rock units and was more effective than the MI in differentiating mafic-ultramafic rocks. Our results were consistent with information derived from local geological maps. Based on the remote sensing results and field inspection, eleven gabbroic intrusions and a pyroxenite occurrence were recognized for the first time. A new geologic map of the Huitongshan area was created by integrating the results of remote sensing, previous geological maps and field inspection. 7Structure and Property of Bamboo Fiber显示文摘The chemical composition, fiber characteristics, crystalline structure, mechanical properties and thermal behavior of the five species of bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis cv.Pachyloe, Bambusa tootisk, Arundinaia amabilis, B.vulgaris cv. Vittata, and Dendrocalamus affinis) were studied with IR, X-ray, DSC and chemical analyses. The results indicated that the benzene-ethanol extractive content of bamboo was higher than that of wood, the content of lignin and the content of pentosan were 19.1% - 25.3% and 14.9% - 22.6%, respectively. Except for Ph. edulis cv. Pachyloe, the cellulose content in the other 4 species was over 50%. The average length of fiber of D. affinis was the longest (1.861 mm). The length/ width ratio of bamboo fiber was also higher than that of wood, and it was the highest for B.tootisk, which reached 142. The results of IR and X-ray confirmed that crystalline structure of bamboo fibers was cellulose, and A. amabilis had the highest crystallinity index. The differential thermal analysis (DSC) can be one of the methods to identify various fiber materials. After steam explosive pretreatment, cellulose content of D. affinis had increased from 50.5% to 69.2%, the crystallinity index had increased and the breaking tenacity of bamboo fibers was suitable for producing textile products, indicating that steam explosion is an useful pretreatment for bamboo fibers made into composite materials and textiles.JIANG Jianxin1 YANG Zhongkai2 ZHU Liwei1 SHI Limin2 YAN Lijie1 1. 10A Dynamic Knowledge Model for Design of Suitable Sowing Date and Sowing Rate in Winter Wheat显示文摘Based on research concerning dynamic relationships of winter wheat growth to environments and production conditions, a winter wheat model for selecting suitable sowing date, population density and sowing rate under different varieties, spatial and temporal environments was developed. 11术中神经电生理监测在单椎板入路选择性神经后根离断术中的作用显示文摘目的单椎板入路选择性神经后根离断术(SL-SDR)治疗痉挛性脑瘫完全依赖术中神经电生理监测结果。本研究旨在讨论SL-SDR术中肌电图判读对神经根选择和离断的影响及作用。方法回顾分析2016年5月至2019年3月在上海交通大学附属儿童医院神经外科采用改良神经电生理监测离断方案指导下SL-SDR治疗的痉挛性脑瘫患儿的临床资料,重点关注术中肌电图判读及其与术前临床表现的相关性,以及比较采用不同神经电生理监测离断方案解读术中肌电图时的神经后根选择差异。结果共纳入318例患儿,男性231例、女性87例,平均年龄5.9岁,32例为偏瘫、161例为双侧瘫、125例为四肢瘫。每例患儿有2~8组目标肌群(术前肌张力≥2级)。术中神经电生理监测结果显示,探测的21728枚神经小根[(68.3±8.2)枚/例]中6272枚(28.9%)与肛门括约肌相关,15456枚[(48.6±7.6)枚/例]与下肢肌群相关,其中,神经后根11009枚[(34.6±7.4)枚/例]。共有3370枚[(10.6±4.7)枚/例]符合改良神经后根离断方案,其中3061枚50%部分离断、309枚75%部分离断。术前粗大运动功能分级(GMFCS)分级Ⅰ~Ⅴ级的离断率(部分离断的神经后根数/下肢肌群相关神经后根数)分别为15.8%、22.3%、33.4%、41.8%和45.7%。75%部分离断的离断率随术前GMFCS分级的递增而增加,分别为1.5%、4.8%、8.5%、14.1%和15.2%。术后3周,2068组目标肌群肌张力显著降低[(1.7±0.5)级对(2.7±0.6)级]。术前GMFCS分级Ⅰ和Ⅱ级患儿采用传统离断方案约有20%的病例无法识别任何1枚约20%需离断的神经后根,而随着患儿术前GMFCS分级的递增,传统与改良方案离断的符合率逐步提高,分别为39.5%、41.3%、52.2%、54.1%和62.8%。结论由于SL-SDR完全依赖于术中肌电图判读,使得术中神经电生理监测显得至关重要。改良神经电生理监测离断方案指导下的SL-SDR可以安全、有效治疗痉挛性脑瘫。SL-SDR术中肌电图及其与临床表现相关的预后,可以使临床医师更好地理解此类患儿脊髓神经元环路的运作模式。Xiao B Constatntini S Browd SR Zhan Q Jiang W Mei R 詹琪佳(编译) 2020中国现代神经疾病杂志2020,20,4:4

14Tissue expression and developmental regulation of chicken cathelicidin antimicrobial peptides显示文摘Cathelicidins are a major family of antimicrobial peptides present in vertebrate animals with potent microbicidal and immunomodulatory activities. Four cathelicidins, namely fowlicidins 1 to 3 and cathelicidin B1, have been identified in chickens. As a first step to understand their role in early innate host defense of chickens, we examined the tissue and developmental expression patterns of all four cathelicidins. Real-time PCR revealed an abundant expression of four cathelicidins throughout the gastrointestinal, respiratory, and urogenital tracts as well as in all primary and secondary immune organs of chickens. Fowlicidins 1 to 3 exhibited a similar tissue expression pattern with the highest expression in the bone marrow and lung, while cathelicidin B1 was synthesized most abundantly in the bursa of Fabricius. Additionally, a tissue-specific regulatory pattern was evident for all four cathelicidins during the first 28 days after hatching. The expression of fowlicidins 1 to 3 showed an age-dependent increase both in the cecal tonsil and lung, whereas all four cathelicidins were peaked in the bursa on day 4 after hatching, with a gradual decline by day 28. An abrupt augmentation in the expression of fowlicidins 1 to 3 was also observed in the cecum on day 28, while the highest expression of cathelicidin B1 was seen in both the lung and cecal tonsil on day 14. 17Comparison Between AFLP and RFLP Markers in Detecting the Diversity of Rice(Oryza sativa L.)显示文摘AFLP and RFLP were used to study the diversity of 20 rice cultivars. 15 primer combinations were used in the AFLP analysis and 47 - 118 bands were amplified in each lane. A total of 107 polymorphic bands were detected in the RFLP analysis using 49 RFLP probes. The cluster analysis based on RFLP data showed that 20 rice cultivars could be divided into an indica group and a japonica group, as did the AFLP data; however AFLP is more suitable in detecting the difference of pedigree and ecotype among the 20 cultivars.The genetic distance based on AFLP and RFLP data showed the same tendency, but AFLP markers increased the measure of genetic distance among intra-subspecific cultivars and decreased the measure of genetic distance among inter-subspecific cultivars relative to RFLP markers. 18Validation and Scenario Analysis of a Soil Organic Carbon Model显示文摘A model developed by the authors was validated against independent data sets. The data sets were obtained from field experiments of crop residue decomposition and a 7-year soil improvement in Yixing City, Jiangsu Province. Model validation indicated that soil organic carbon dynamics can be simulated from the weather variables of temperature, sunlight and precipitation, soil clay content and bulk density, grain yield of previous crops, qualities and quantities of the added organic matter. Model simulation in general agreed with the measurements. The comparison between computed and measured resulted in correlation coefficient γ2 values of 0.9291 * * * (n = 48) and 0. 6431 * * (n = 65) for the two experiments, respectively. Model prediction under three scenarios of no additional organic matter input, with an annual incorporation of rice and wheat straw at rates of 6.75t/ha and 9.0t/ha suggested that the soil organic carbon in Wanshi Township of Yixing City would be from an initial value of 7.85g/kg in 1983 to 6.30g/kg, 11.42g/kg and 13g/kg in 2014, respectively. 20Newly self-administered two-step tool for screening cognitive function in an ageing Chinese population:an exploratory cross-sectional study显示文摘Background Early screening of cognitive function is critical to dementia treatment and care.However,traditional tests require face-to-face administration and are often limited by implementation costs and biases.Aims This study aimed to assess whether the Thoven Cognitive Self-Assessment(TCSA),a novel,innovative two-step touchscreen-based cognition assessment tool,could identify early cognitive impairment due to dementia in older adults.Methods The TCSA was administered to 61 healthy controls(HCs),46 participants with mild cognitive impairment(MCI)and 44 participants diagnosed with dementia recruited from Shanghai.Two outcome measures were generated from the TCSA test:the TCSA_(primary task)score and the TCSA_(secondary task)score.Results The total average scores in the control group for the TCSA_(primary task)and TCSA_(secondary task)were significantly higher than those in the MCI and dementia groups(TCSA_(primary task):HCs vs MCI group vs dementia group,8.58±1.76 vs 5.40±2.67 vs 2.74±2.11,F=75.40,p<0.001;TCSA_(secondary task):HCs vs MCI group vs dementia group,23.02±3.31 vs 17.95±4.93 vs 11.93±5.50,F=76.46,p<0.001).Moreover,receiver operating characteristic analysis showed that a score below 7.5 for the TCSA_(primary task)and a score below 22.5 for the TCSA_(secondary task)were indicators of MCI.Conclusions The TCSA appears to be efficacious for the detection of cognitive impairment in older adults.It demonstrates the potential for large-scale cognition screening in community service settings.Jing Nie Yang Yang Yining Gao Wenwen Jiang Aisikeer Aidina Fei Sun Lucas R Prieto Jie Yu Kang Ju Lisheng Song Xia Li 2023General Psychiatry2023,36,1:2
