| 2 | Highly efficient fluoride removal from water using 2D metal-organic frameworks MIL-53(Al)with rich Al and O adsorptive centers显示文摘In this study,metal-organic framework MIL-53(Al)was synthesized and studied to understand the different mechanisms between normal MIL-53(Al)and 2D metal-organic framework MIL-53(Al)for removing fluoride.Comparatively,the 2D MIL-53(Al)had two-dimensional linear morphology rather than block shape,indicating more expose adsorptive sites than normal MIL-53(Al).The batch adsorption experiments were applied to investigate the performance of 2D MIL-53(Al),including pH,adsorption kinetics,and thermodynamics.The 2D MIL-53(Al)(75.50 mg/g)showed better adsorption capacity than normal MIL-53(Al)(35.63 mg/g).The adsorption process of 2D MIL-53(Al)followed the pseudo-firstorder model and Langmuir model.The adsorption mechanism of this material was further studied by using experimental characterization and density functional theory calculations in detail.The main adsorptive sites were Al and O in the 2D MIL-53(Al),and the relationship between fluoride binding with Al and O was HF^(-)_(2)>HF>F^(-).The species of fluoride were HF2,HF,F at different pH and concentrations.Hence,this study provides a significant way on the application of two-dimensional materials for removing fluoride. | Lei Huang Zhihui Yang Sikpaam Issaka Alhassan Zhixuan Luo Baocheng Song Linfeng Jin Yixian Zhao Haiying Wang | 2021 | Environmental Science and Ecotechnology2021,,4: | 3 |

| 10 | Use of Agroecological Techniques by Smallholder Farmers to Improve Sorghum Productivity in Burkina Faso显示文摘The prevailing farming system in Burkina Faso is smallholder agriculture based on cereal production, especially sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench) which form the staple diet for the population. Production is constantly challenged by climate hazards, striga (Striga hermonthica (Del.) Benth.) infestation, inefficient farming practices and declining soil fertility. To address these concerns, one study on several agroecological techniques was conducted from 2013 to 2015 in a participative manner with more than 150 male and female farmers from four communities. Each farmer was asked to test out two or three agroecological techniques of his choice and to measure these new techniques against their usual farming practices. These techniques combined the use of organic fertilizer (5 t/ha) and/or mineral fertilizer (2 g/seed hole) with the systems of crop rotation and mixed cropping, in addition to the improved za? technique and the half-moon method. Plant material was composed of local landraces and improved varieties of sorghum, sesame and cowpea. On-farm application of agroecological techniques resulted in significantly increased sorghum production in all four communities. The rates of increase for grain yield were 8% for the half-moon fields and more than 130% for the rotation systems when compared to the farmers’ usual practices. More limited results were achieved with the chemical components of the soil after two years of experimentation. Only the soil’s organic matter showed improvement over the first year. This study shows that crop rotation, mixed cropping and the improved za? technique in combination with compost and improved drought-resistant varieties constitute agroecological strategies favorable to the intensification and diversification of farming systems in the studied locations. | 14 | Hydraulic performance characteristics of impact sprinkler with a fixed water dispersion device显示文摘One way to adapt to the trend towards low-energy and to improve the hydraulic performance of the impact sprinkler under a low pressure condition is by means of a fixed water dispersion device.A fixed dispersion device disperses jet flow from the nozzle continuously.The shape of the tip,impact angle(θ),diameter(D),and depth in the jet flow(d)have significant influence on the hydraulic performance.In this study,the hydraulic performance characteristics of impact sprinkler as affected by the fixed water dispersion device were studied under indoor conditions.Radial water distributions from the sprinkler were obtained by experiments for the fixed water dispersion devices.MATLAB was used to transform the radial data into net data,and the uniformities were simulated in a square layout from 1 to 2 times the range(R).The droplet size distributions from the fixed water dispersion devices were measured by a laser precipitation monitor(LPM).Results showed that the range increased with the increase of pressure,and the sprinkler with type C_(2) produced a rectangular-shaped water distribution pattern,while the range was maintained.A maximum uniformity of 71.56%,75.56%,77.23%,73.32%,78.88%and 86.67%was found for types A1,B1,C1,A2,B2,and C_(2),respectively under a pressure of 200 kPa.The uniformity from the sprinkler using type C_(2) surpassed 80%,while type C1 fell below.Droplet sizes from type C_(2) was best,and the mean droplet diameter decreased with the increase of pressure.Hence,type C_(2) can be selected for further optimization of the design features to improve the hydraulic performance of the impact sprinkler under low pressure conditions. | Zakaria Issaka Hong Li Yue Jiang Pan Tang Chao Chen Ransford Opoku Darko | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,6: | 0 |
| 15 | Study of the behaviour of the dielectric constant in Cu,Fe:BaTiO_3显示文摘In this work we study the behaviour of the dielectric constant of BaTiO3 single crystals doped with Cu and Fe for different ion percentages, particularly, the influence of these heterovalent substitutions on the ferroelectric-paraelectric phase transition whose temperature is found at Tc=120 °C for pure samples. The dielectric constant ε in terms of temperature shows that the Curie temperature decreases when the quantity of impurities increases and presents a broadening and flattering of the maxi-mum of ε(T) within higher values, with the transition becoming more and more diffuse. It is interesting to have a material with very high permittivity (high-k) because of its capacity to store an important quantity of electric charges. The ε anisotropy and the Curie-Weiss law are also verified with a good ratio between the slopes of ε-1(T) from both sides of the transition, leading to a Curie constant:C=13×104 K for BaTiO3:1.6%Fe in the polar phase. BaTiO3 is a displacive ferroelectric going through a first-order phase transition. The substitutions have an effect on the dynamics of the perovskite lattice. They induce charges transfer to Ti and a diminution of elastic forces in BaTiO3. | 17 | Endoscopic profile of caustic burns of the university hospital center of Cocody Abidjan / Côte d’Ivoire显示文摘Background:To determine the clinical and endoscopic demographic characteristics of the ingestion of acidic products in the digestive endoscopy unit of the Cocody University Hospital.Methods:This was a retrospective,descriptive and analytical study on endoscopic reports,which took place for five years,from January 1,2014,to December 31,2018.All patients were admitted to the digestive endoscopy unit with the indication of ingestion of caustic products.The parameters studied:are demographic,clinical,and endoscopic.The statistical tests used were Pearson’s CHI 2 and Fisher’s exact tests.The significance threshold was set at 5%.Results:83 patients were included for an endoscopic prevalence of 1.33%.The mean age was 20.77±16.58 years,with extremes ranging from 1 to 63 years.They were divided into 34 men and 49 women for a sex ratio of 0.69.Accidental circumstances were observed in 73.49%of cases,followed by attempted autolysis(26.51%).Bleach was the most offending caustic(75.90%),followed by hydrochloric acid(14.46%).FOGD was normal in 53.01%and revealed stage I(41.54%)digestive lesions,followed by stage II(35.39%)and stage III(21.53%).The lesions were preferentially gastric(36.11%),esogastroduodenal(27.78%),and esogastric(22.23%).Based on severity,54.55%of esophageal lesions were stage IIA,53.12%were stage I gastric lesions,and 54.55%were stage IIA duodenal lesions.One case of gastric perforation was noted(1.54%).In univariate analysis,we found a statistically significant link between the age group of 1–14 years and the accidental intake of caustics(P<0.001)on the one hand and the other hand between the age group of 26 years and over and taking for autolysis(P=0.02).Likewise,bleaching was responsible for less severe lesions(P=0.006).Conclusions:The seriousness of the ingestion of caustic products requires early,specialized and multidisciplinary management to improve the short,medium,and long-term prognosis of patients. | SORO Dramane Zataou Soumana Issaka Al-Vera Vanicka De Mbayen Lah Bi Régis Yaogo Abdoulatif Ouattara Amadou | 2022 | Gastroenterology & Hepatology Research2022,4,4: | 0 |
| 18 | Range formula based on angle of dispersion and nozzle configuration from an impact sprinkler显示文摘Jet breakup and dispersion from impact sprinkler are mainly influenced by the configurations of nozzle and dispersion device.Based on the structure,different types of nozzles were designed and tested with a pointed tip dispersion device under low pressure conditions.Experiments were performed using High-Speed Photographic technique,and Matlab computation program was established and applied to determine the initial jet breakup length and angle of dispersion from the nozzles.The sprinkler range decreased with the increase in diameter of nozzle,and the largest range of 15.1 m was produced from sprinkler with 6 mm nozzle size under a pressure of 150 kPa.The angle of dispersion decreased with the increase of jet velocity,the spray coverage from sprinkler with 6 mm nozzle size was 1478 mm under 150 kPa,and was not statistically different when the pressure was increased.A new range formula was established for sprinkler with dispersion device through curve fitting of the parameters of initial jet breakup length,angle of dispersion,nozzle size and working pressure.The new formula was reliable for calculating range with a relative error less than 3%.Since the formula is based on the angle of dispersion,it could be useful to estimate uniformity of water distribution in sprinkler irrigated fields. | Yue Jiang Zakaria Issaka Hong Li Pan Tang Chao Chen | 2019 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,5: | 0 |
