1Identifying Scientific Project-generated Data Citation from Full-text Articles: An Investigation of TCGA Data Citation显示文摘Purpose: In the open science era, it is typical to share project-generated scientific data by depositing it in an open and accessible database. Moreover, scientific publications are preserved in a digital library archive. It is challenging to identify the data usage that is mentioned in literature and associate it with its source. Here, we investigated the data usage of a government-funded cancer genomics project, The Cancer Genome Atlas(TCGA), via a full-text literature analysis.Design/methodology/approach: We focused on identifying articles using the TCGA dataset and constructing linkages between the articles and the specific TCGA dataset. First, we collected 5,372 TCGA-related articles from Pub Med Central(PMC). Second, we constructed a benchmark set with 25 full-text articles that truly used the TCGA data in their studies, and we summarized the key features of the benchmark set. Third, the key features were applied to the remaining PMC full-text articles that were collected from PMC.Findings: The amount of publications that use TCGA data has increased significantly since 2011, although the TCGA project was launched in 2005. Additionally, we found that the critical areas of focus in the studies that use the TCGA data were glioblastoma multiforme, lung cancer, and breast cancer; meanwhile, data from the RNA-sequencing(RNA-seq) platform is the most preferable for use.Research limitations: The current workflow to identify articles that truly used TCGA data is labor-intensive. An automatic method is expected to improve the performance.Practical implications: This study will help cancer genomics researchers determine the latest advancements in cancer molecular therapy, and it will promote data sharing and data-intensive scientific discovery.Originality/value: Few studies have been conducted to investigate data usage by governmentfunded projects/programs since their launch. 2Vertical Alignment of Anisotropic Fillers Assisted by Expansion Flow in Polymer Composites显示文摘Orientation control of anisotropic one-dimensional(1D)and two-dimensional(2D)materials in solutions is of great importance in many fields ranging from structural materials design,the thermal management,to energy storage.Achieving fine control of vertical alignment of anisotropic fillers(such as graphene,boron nitride(BN),and carbon fiber)remains challenging.This work presents a universal and scalable method for constructing vertically aligned structures of anisotropic fillers in composites assisted by the expansion flow(using2D BN platelets as a proof-of-concept).BN platelets in the silicone gel strip are oriented in a curved shape that includes vertical alignment in the central area and horizontal alignment close to strip surfaces.Due to the vertical orientation of BN in the central area of strips,a throughplane thermal conductivity as high as 5.65 W m^(-1) K^(-1) was obtained,which can be further improved to 6.54 W m^(-1) K^(-1) by combining BN and pitch-based carbon fibers.The expansion-flow-assisted alignment can be extended to the manufacture of a variety of polymer composites filled with 1D and 2D materials,which can find wide applications in batteries,electronics,and energy storage devices.Hongyu Niu Haichang Guo Lei Kang Liucheng Ren Ruicong Lv Shulin Bai 2022Nano-Micro Letters2022,14,9:2
3The diapycnal mixing in the upper Pacific estimated from GTSPP observations显示文摘Diapycnal mixing(DM) in the upper 600 m of the Pacific Ocean was estimated based on the huge amount of the observations from Global Temperature-Salinity Profile Programme(GTSPP), using the strain version of the finescale parameterization. It is found that DM in each season exhibits similar distribution pattern, but differs in details. The intensification of DM is related to bottom roughness, surface near-inertial energy, and proximity to the equator. The intensified DM caused by rough topography shows in the profiles near the Mendocino fracture zone in the northeast Pacific, and the heightened DM caused by wind-generated near-inertial energy appears in the westerly region of the Southern Ocean. 6Honokiol alleviated neurodegeneration by reducing oxidative stress and improving mitochondrial function in mutant SOD1 cellular and mouse models of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis显示文摘Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS)is a progressive neurodegenerative disease affecting both upper and lower motor neurons(MNs)with large unmet medical needs.Multiple pathological mechanisms are considered to contribute to the progression of ALS,including neuronal oxidative stress and mitochondrial dysfunction.Honokiol(HNK)has been reported to exert therapeutic effects in several neurologic disease models including ischemia stroke,Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.Here we found that honokiol also exhibited protective effects in ALS disease models both in vitro and in vivo.Honokiol improved the viability of NSC-34 motor neuron-like cells that expressed the mutant G93A SOD1 proteins(SOD1-G93A cells for short).Mechanistical studies revealed that honokiol alleviated cellular oxidative stress by enhancing glutathione(GSH)synthesis and activating the nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2(NRF2)-antioxidant response element(ARE)pathway.Also,honokiol improved both mitochondrial function and morphology via fine-tuning mitochondrial dynamics in SOD1-G93A cells.Importantly,honokiol extended the lifespan of the SOD1-G93A transgenic mice and improved the motor function.The improvement of antioxidant capacity and mitochondrial function was further confirmed in the spinal cord and gastrocnemius muscle in mice.Overall,honokiol showed promising preclinical potential as a multiple target drug for ALS treatment.Yujun Zhou Jingshu Tang Jiaqi Lan Yong Zhang Hongyue Wang Qiuyu Chen Yuying Kang Yang Sun Xinhong Feng Lei Wu Hongtao Jin Shizhong Chen Ying Peng 2023Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica B2023,13,2:1
7Physical Characteristics of Plasma Cladding Fe-Cr-Nb-Si-Mo Alloy Cladding Layers on Different Substrates显示文摘A plasma cladding experiment was carried out to investigate the characteristics(surface hardness,microstructure,friction,wear properties from different substrates to the cladding layer and the bond strength)of plasma cladding Fe-Cr-Nb-Si-Mo alloy cladding layers on different substrates.In order to improve the abrasion resistance of the scraper middle trough,the plasma cladding technique was used to clad the alloy ceramic powder Ig7 on the surface of the middle trough NM450,WH60A,Hardox450,and Weartuf450 to create Fe/Cr/Nb/Mo/V cladding layer.Based on the experiment results,the microstructure,friction and wear properties of the four cladding layers were analyzed,and the bond strength between the cladding layer and the substrate was also tested.The experimental results show that the main phases of the four cladding layers are martensite and all kinds of metal carbides((Nb,Mo)C,VC,and Cr7C3).WH60A surface cladding layer has shown good friction and wear properties.高贵军 LI Kang CHEN Weiwang ZHANG Hongbin YANG Xiaobing ZHANG Hongyu 李军霞 2020Journal of Wuhan University of Technology(Materials Science)2020,35,4:0
8An Improved Harris Hawk Optimization Algorithm for Flexible Job Shop Scheduling Problem显示文摘Flexible job shop scheduling problem(FJSP)is the core decision-making problem of intelligent manufacturing production management.The Harris hawk optimization(HHO)algorithm,as a typical metaheuristic algorithm,has been widely employed to solve scheduling problems.However,HHO suffers from premature convergence when solving NP-hard problems.Therefore,this paper proposes an improved HHO algorithm(GNHHO)to solve the FJSP.GNHHO introduces an elitism strategy,a chaotic mechanism,a nonlinear escaping energy update strategy,and a Gaussian random walk strategy to prevent premature convergence.A flexible job shop scheduling model is constructed,and the static and dynamic FJSP is investigated to minimize the makespan.This paper chooses a two-segment encoding mode based on the job and the machine of the FJSP.To verify the effectiveness of GNHHO,this study tests it in 23 benchmark functions,10 standard job shop scheduling problems(JSPs),and 5 standard FJSPs.Besides,this study collects data from an agricultural company and uses the GNHHO algorithm to optimize the company’s FJSP.The optimized scheduling scheme demonstrates significant improvements in makespan,with an advancement of 28.16%for static scheduling and 35.63%for dynamic scheduling.Moreover,it achieves an average increase of 21.50%in the on-time order delivery rate.The results demonstrate that the performance of the GNHHO algorithm in solving FJSP is superior to some existing algorithms.Zhaolin Lv Yuexia Zhao Hongyue Kang Zhenyu Gao Yuhang Qin 2024Computers, Materials & Continua2024,78,2:0
