| 1 | Foxtail millet:nutritional and eating quality,and prospects for genetic improvement显示文摘Foxtail millet is a minor yet important crop in some areas of the world,particularly northern China.It has strong adaptability to abiotic stresses,especially drought,and poor soil.It also has high nutritional value.Foxtail millet is rich in essential amino acids,fatty acids and minerals,and is considered to be one of the most digestible and non-allergenic grains available and has significant importance for human health.Given foxtail millet’s ability to adapt to abiotic stresses associated with climate change,it is more important than ever to develop breeding strategies that facilitate the increasing demand for high quality grain that better satisfies consumers.Here we review research on foxtail millet quality evaluation,appearance,cooking and eating quality at the phenotypic level.We review analysis of the main nutrients in foxtail millet,their relationships and the biochemical and genetic factors affecting their accumulation.In addition,we review past progress in breeding this regionally important crop,outline current status of breeding of foxtail millet,and make suggestions to improve grain quality. | Lu HE Bin ZHANG Xingchun WANG Hongying LI Yuanhuai HAN | 2015 | Frontiers of Agricultural Science and Engineering2015,2,2: | 8 |
| 2 | Comparison of the short-term and long-term outcomes of laparoscopic hysterectomies and of abdominal hysterectomies: a case study of 4,895 patients in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China显示文摘Background: To evaluate the short-term and long-term outcomes after laparoscopic hysterectomy(LH) compared with abdominal hysterectomy(AH) in case of benign gynecological disease. Methods: A multi-center cohort retrospective comparative study of population among 4,895 hysterectomies(3,539 LH vs.1,356 AH) between 2007 and 2013 was involved. Operative time(OT), estimated blood loss(EBL), intra-operative and post-operative complications, passing flatus; days with indwelling catheter, questionnaires covering pelvic floor functions and sexual functions were assessed.Results: The EBL(174.1±157.4 vs. 263.1±183.2 cc, LH and AH groups, respectively), passing flatus(38.7±14.1 vs. 48.1±13.2 hours), days with indwelling catheter(1.5±0.6 vs. 2.2±0.8 days), use of analgesics(6.5% vs. 73.1%), intra-operative complication rate(2.4% vs. 4.1%), post-operative complication rate(2.3% vs. 5.7%), post-operative constipation(12.1% vs. 24.6%), mild and serious stress urinary incontinence(SUI) post-operative(P<0.001; P=0.014), and proportion of Female Sexual Functioning Index(FSFI) total score <26.55 post-operative(P<0.001) of the LH group were significantly less than those of AH group. There wereno significant differences in OT(106.5±34.5 vs. 106.2±40.3 min) between the two groups.Conclusions: LH is a safe and efficient operation for improving patients' long-term quality of life(Qo L), and LH is a cost-effectiveness procedure for treating benign gynecological disease. | 4 | PROTACs: great opportunities for academia and industry显示文摘Although many kinds of therapies are applied in the clinic,drug-resistance is a major and unavoidable problem.Another disturbing statistic is the limited number of drug targets,which are presently only 20–25%of all protein targets that are currently being studied.Moreover,the focus of current explorations of targets are their enzymatic functions,which ignores the functions from their scaffold moiety.As a promising and appealing technology,PROteolysis TArgeting Chimeras(PROTACs)have attracted great attention both from academia and industry for finding available approaches to solve the above problems.PROTACs regulate protein function by degrading target proteins instead of inhibiting them,providing more sensitivity to drug-resistant targets and a greater chance to affect the nonenzymatic functions.PROTACs have been proven to show better selectivity compared to classic inhibitors.PROTACs can be described as a chemical knockdown approach with rapidity and reversibility,which presents new and different biology compared to other gene editing tools by avoiding misinterpretations that arise from potential genetic compensation and/or spontaneous mutations.PRTOACs have been widely explored throughout the world and have outperformed not only in cancer diseases,but also in immune disorders,viral infections and neurodegenerative diseases.Although PROTACs present a very promising and powerful approach for crossing the hurdles of present drug discovery and tool development in biology,more efforts are needed to gain to get deeper insight into the efficacy and safety of PROTACs in the clinic.More target binders and more E3 ligases applicable for developing PROTACs are waiting for exploration. | Xiuyun Sun Hongying Gao Yiqing Yang Ming He Yue Wu Yugang Song Yan Tong Yu Rao | 2019 | Signal Transduction and Targeted Therapy2019,4,1: | 3 |
| 5 | Removal of fluorescence and ultraviolet absorbance of dissolved organic matter in reclaimed water by solar light显示文摘Storing reclaimed water in lakes is a widely used method of accommodating changes in the consumption of reclaimed water during wastewater reclamation and reuse. Solar light serves as an important function in degrading pollutants during storage, and its effect on dissolved organic matter(DOM) was investigated in this study. Solar light significantly decreased the UV_(254) absorbance and fluorescence(FLU) intensity of reclaimed water.However, its effect on the dissolved organic carbon(DOC) value of reclaimed water was very limited. The decrease in the UV_(254) absorbance intensity and FLU excitation–emission matrix regional integration volume(FLU volume) of reclaimed water during solar light irradiation was fit with pseudo-first order reaction kinetics. The decrease of UV_(254) absorbance was much slower than that of the FLU volume. Ultraviolet light in solar light had a key role in decreasing the UV_(254) absorbance and FLU intensity during solar light irradiation. The light fluence-based removal kinetic constants of the UV_(254) and FLU intensity were independent of light intensity. | 9 | Effects of Litter Removal and Addition on Soil Nitrogen Mineralization of Eucalyptus Plantation显示文摘[Objectives]This study was conducted to understand the process of soil nitrogen mineralization in Eucalyptus plantations,and to identify the characteristics of soil nitrogen mineralization with different litter inputs.[Methods]With the soil of the Eucalyptus plantation in Fusui County,Guangxi as the research object,the soil nitrogen mineralization of the Eucalyptus plantation under different litter treatments(removing litter,adding litter and retaining litter)was studied by PVC tube closed-top in-situ incubation.[Results]①After 1 year of litter treatment,the inorganic nitrogen(NH_(4)^(+)-N+NO_(3)^(-)-N)in the soil of different treatments ranked as adding litter(20.15 mg/kg)>retaining litter(16.02 mg/kg)>removing litter(11.60) mg/kg),and the differences reached a significant level(P<0.05).②After 30 d of in-situ incubation,there were significant differences in soil nitrate nitrogen content before and after incubation in the three treatments(removing litter,adding litter,and retaining litter)before and after incubation(P<0.05),but no significant differences were observed in soil ammonium nitrogen content(P>0.05).Soil nitrate nitrogen contents increased from 1.47,2.01 and 1.72 mg/kg before incubation to 3.66,6.73 and 5.02 mg/kg,respectively,and soil ammonium nitrogen content increased from 11.60,20.15 and 16.02 mg/kg before incubation to 13.65,21.54 and 17.18 mg/kg,respectively.The net nitrogen mineralization quantities of the three treatments were 4.24,6.11 and 4.46 mg/kg,respectively,and the net nitrogen mineralization rates from large to small were adding litter[0.180 mg/(kg·d)]>retaining litter[0.141 mg/(kg·d)]>removing litter[0.125 mg/(kg·d)].Therefore,both removal and addition of litter affected the soil nitrogen input and nitrogen mineralization rate of the Eucalyptus plantation,thereby affecting soil nitrogen availability and the ability of soil to maintain plant-available nitrogen.[Conclusions]This study provides a theoretical basis for nutrient management in Eucalyptus plantations,especially nitrogen nutrient management. | Wanpeng LU Hongying LIU Chunning LI Bin HE | 2022 | Agricultural Biotechnology2022,11,3: | 1 |

Earth’s core accretion and block formation in the Precambrian, margin splitting, opening-closing and piecing up in the Early Palaeozoic, rift formation and plate unification in the Late Palaeozoic, and basin-mountain coupling and landform shaping in the Meso-Cenozoic, forming six ore-bearing formations and ore deposits of various genetic types in the Tianshan Mountains, Kunlun Mountains and Altun Mountains. In the peripheral areas of Tarim there are four giant intercontinental metallogenic belts passing through, the Central Tianshan and southwestern Tianshan belts in the former USSR and the Qinling-Qilian-Kunlun and Palaeo-Tethys belts in China. According to the macro-analysis on the nearly one thousand known deposits (occurrences) and geophysical-geochemical anomalies, and the information from reconnaissance in some areas, the region has very good prospects for mineral resources. | 13 | Effects of temperature and particle size on the thermophysical properties of six plant-origin protein supplements显示文摘Reasonable design of the parameters of thermal processing such as conditioning and cooling according to formula changes of pelleted feeds has always been a serious challenge for Chinese feed mills and feed equipment manufacturers. Studying the thermophysical properties of different protein feeds under different temperatures and particle sizes will facilitate the equipment design, parameter optimization, and simulation for the thermal processing of pelleted feeds. In this study, the specific heat (Cp), thermal conductivity (kb), and thermal diffusivity (α) of six plant protein supplements with three particle sizes were determined over a temperature range of 25℃-100℃. The differences in Cp, kb, and α among different feedstuffs and particle sizes were analyzed and the influences of temperature and particle size on these properties were evaluated. Results showed that the Cp, kb, and α of all the feedstuffs increased with increasing temperature and varied from 1.622 to 2.417 kJ/(kg∙℃), 0.080 to 0.362 W/(m∙℃), 6.379×10^(-8) to 21.984×10^(-8) m^(2)/s, respectively. To rise to the same temperature, the distiller’s dried grain with solubles (DDGS) needed to absorb 3% more heat than that required for soybean meal (SBM), while the rest four feedstuffs just needed to absorb 93%-98% heat for SBM. Particle size had no significant effect on Cp for all the feedstuffs (p>0.05). However, descending trends in kb and α were observed with increasing particle size for a certain feedstuff at the same bulk density. In addition, regression equations with only statistically significant terms were developed to describe Cp, kb, and α as a function of temperature and particle size for six feedstuffs. | 16 | Anthropogenic ^(129)I in seawaters along the north-central part of the English Channel:Levels and tracer applications显示文摘The English Channel(the Channel)represents a major sink and transport pathway of anthropogenic radioactive ^(129)I.Despite this important role,data concerning the distribution of ^(129)I in seawater of the Channel are scarce,and most of existing data are restricted to the eastern part of the Channel.The advection and dispersion of ^(129)I from the French coast toward the central and further the English coast,especially in the Channel west of Cap de La Hague,are not fully investigated.We present results of iodine isotopes( ^(127)I and ^(129)I)analyses of surface water samples collected along the central English Channel in October,2010.The data show high ^(129)I concentrations between Dover Strait and La Hague,followed by a dramatic drop towards the Celtic Sea and reveal the dispersal of ^(129)I towards central and northern part of the Channel.Our observation also implies that the entire British coast is contaminated by ^(129)I. ^(129)I levels in the westernmost English Channel,close to the English coast,may reflect combined influences from La Hague and Sellafield.Evolution of ^(129)I between 2005 and 2010 suggests a strong link to temporal marine discharges from La Hague plant.The discharges from the nuclear reprocessing facility have continued since 2010 and thus an ecological evaluation of ^(129)I radioactive hazards in the environment of the Channel may be needed. | Peng He Zheng Yang Hongying Pang Ala Aldahan Xiaolin Hou Goran Possnert Xiangjun Pei Yi Huang | 2022 | Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,11: | 0 |
