1Effect of combined medicated thread moxibustion plus needle picking therapy of Zhuang nationality medicine on antioxidant levels in a rat model of sciatica显示文摘OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect and underlying mechanisms of combined medicated thread moxibustion therapy plus needle picking therapy of Zhuang nationality medicine on antioxidant levels in a rat model of sciatica.METHODS: One hundred Wistar rats, of specific pathogen free level, were randomly divided into five groups: normal control group, model group,medicated thread moxibustion group, needle picking group, and combination group. Each group contained 20 rats. In the model, medicated thread moxibustion, needle picking, and combination groups,sciatica models were established through chronicconstriction injury of the sciatic nerve. After the model was established, the rats in the medicated thread moxibustion, needle picking, and combination groups were given the corresponding therapies for 21 days. The control and model groups received no treatment. Reactive oxygen species, superoxide dismutase, malondialdehyde, and total antioxidant capacity changes were determined.Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate(NADPH) oxidase subunit NADPH oxidases 4(NOX4) m RNA expression and the morphology of cells were observed to detect apoptosis of gamma-aminobutyric acid ergic(GABAergic) neurons.RESULTS: Compared with control group, reactive oxygen species and malondialdehyde levels rose significantly in the model group(P < 0.01), while superoxide dismutase and total antioxidant capacity levels were lowered(P < 0.05). Compared with the model group, reactive oxygen species and malondialdehyde decreased in the needle picking group(P < 0.05), while superoxide dismutase levels were increased(P < 0.05); reactive oxygen species and malondialdehyde significantly decreased in the combination group(P < 0.01). In addition, the model group had higher NOX4 m RNA expression than that of the control group(P < 0.05), and the combination group had lower expression levels than that of the model group(P < 0.05). Apoptosis of GABAergic neurons was observed in the model group, and was attenuated after combined therapy.CONCLUSION: The medicated thread moxibustion therapy plus needle picking therapy of Zhuang nationality medicine can prevent oxidative damage in the rat model of sciatica via down-regulating NOX4 expression, improving antioxidant capacity, and in-hibiting the oxidative damage pathway of GABAergic neurons.Tang Hanqing Zheng Jianyu Li Tianzi Li Keming Li Xiaohua Dou Xibin Huang Chunchuan Liang Ye 2016Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,6:4
2In-situ growth of flexible 3D hollow tubular Cu_(2)S nanorods on Cu foam for high electrochemical performance supercapacitor显示文摘For pursing high-performance supercapacitors,both of the design strategy and structural characteristic of electrode materials are crucial.Herein,we report the in-situ growth of flexible self-assembled 3D hollow tubular Cu_(2)S nanorods on Cu foam substrate(Cu_(2)S@Cu).The Cu substrate is simultaneously acted as a copper source and a collector,which reduces the contact resistance.Moreover,the highly ordered 3D unique structure increases the redox reactive sites and enhances the ion transmission effectively,resulting in greatly improved electrochemical performance.Based on the Cu_(2)S@Cu electrode,the supercapacitor exhibits high areal capacitance of 1000 mF cm^(-2) at a current density of 2 mA cm^(-2),and great cycle stability,maintaining 96.9% capacitance after 10,000 cycles.Furthermore,the supercapacitor also shows an excellent flexibility with no significant decrease in the twisting or bending state.The capacity retention rates are 99.8% and 86.1%,respectively,and finally recover to 99.3%,confirming its great potential in practical application for portable electronic devices.Xinrui He Yalin Hu Hanqing Tian Zhipeng Li Pei Huang Jing Jiang Chao Wang 2020Journal of Materiomics2020,6,1:2
3Two-stage degradation and novel functional endothelium characteristics of a 3-D printed bioresorbable scaffold显示文摘Bioresorbable scaffolds have emerged as a new generation of vascular implants for the treatment of atherosclerosis,and designed to provide a temporary scaffold that is subsequently absorbed by blood vessels over time.Presently,there is insufficient data on the biological and mechanical responses of blood vessels accompanied by bioresorbable scaffolds(BRS)degradation.Therefore,it is necessary to investigate the inflexion point of degradation,the response of blood vessels,and the pathophysiological process of vascular,as results of such studies will be of great value for the design of next generation of BRS.In this study,abdominal aortas of SD rats were received 3-D printed poly-l-actide vascular scaffolds(PLS)for various durations up to 12 months.The response of PLS implanted aorta went through two distinct processes:(1)the neointima with desirable barrier function was obtained in 1 month,accompanied with slow degradation,inflammation,and intimal hyperplasia;(2)significant degradation occurred from 6 months,accompanied with decreasing inflammation and intimal hyperplasia,while the extracellular matrix recovered to normal vessels which indicate the positive remodeling.These in vivo results indicate that 6 months is a key turning point.This“two-stage degradation and vascular characteristics”is proposed to elucidate the long-term effects of PLS on vascular repair and demonstrated the potential of PLS in promoting endothelium function and positive remodeling,which highlights the benefits of PLS and shed some light in the future researches,such as drug combination coatings design.Tieying Yin Ruolin Du Yang Wang Junyang Huang Shuang Ge Yuhua Huang Youhua Tan Qing Liu Zhong Chen Hanqing Feng Jie Du Yazhou Wang Guixue Wang 2022Bioactive Materials2022,7,4:2

13Design and development of a mitochondrial-targeted photosensitizer for two-photon fluorescence imaging and photodynamic therapy显示文摘Mitochondria are well-acknowledged as ideal targets for tumor therapy due to their important role in energy supply and cellular signal regulation.Mitochondria-specific photosensitizers have been reported to be critical for inducing cell apoptosis.Two-photon fluorescence imaging provides a new technique for delineating biological structures and activities in deep tissues.Herein,we developed a new aggregation-induced emission(AIE)active photosensitizer by attaching a pyridinium group for mitochondrial target-ing.The rationally designed photosensitizer(TTTP)exhibited excellent photophysical properties,good biocompatibility,reactive oxygen species(ROS)stimulation ability,anticancer efficacy,and two-photon imaging properties.TTTP was highly taken up by cells and accumulated specifically in mitochondria but was selectively cytotoxic to cancer cells.Under light irradiation,the generation of ROS was significantly boosted,leading to actively induced apoptosis.The in vivo tumor photodynamic therapeutic efficacy of TTTP showed significant inhibition of tumor growth.Furthermore,the underlying mechanism of TTTP tu-mor suppression revealed that the apoptosis agonist Bax was markedly up-regulated while the antagonist Bcl-xL was down-regulated.This research provides a potential mitochondrial-targeted phototherapeutic agent for effective therapy and two-photon fluorescence imaging.Yu Chen Sheng Zhang Tianjiao Cheng Wei Lin Linlin Mao Zhonghui Chen Yang Yang Hanqing Huang Jinqiu Li Zhiyong Ke Zhong-Kai Cui 2023Journal of Materials Science & Technology2023,,10:0
14Rapid identification of switched systems: A data-driven method in variational framework显示文摘Switched systems, i.e., systems changing the parameter values(even structural forms) abruptly and randomly at arbitrary instants, have been extensively utilized in many fields of modern industries. Rapid identification of switched systems, i.e.,capturing all the changing instants and reconstructing the mathematical models rapidly, is of great significance for behavior prediction, performance evaluation and possible control, but is restricted by small data amount available. Here, the rapid identification problem is successfully solved by a data-driven method in variational framework. The data-driven method only requires a small amount of data due to the compact form of the variational description, and is robust to data noise due to the holistic viewpoint. 15Resonance-assisted light–control–light characteristics of SnS_2 on a microfiber knot resonator with fast response显示文摘An all-optical light–control–light functionality with the structure of a microfiber knot resonator (MKR) coated with tin disulfide (SnS_2) nanosheets is experimentally demonstrated. The evanescent light in the MKR [with a resonance Q of ~59,000 and an extinction ratio (ER) of ~26 dB] is exploited to enhance light–matter interaction by coating a two-dimensional material SnS_2 nanosheet onto it. Thanks to the enhanced light–matter interaction and the strong absorption property of SnS_2, the transmitted optical power can be tuned quasi-linearly with an external violet pump light power, where a transmitted optical power variation rate ΔT with respect to the violet light power of ~0.22 dB∕mW is obtained. In addition, the MKR structure possessing multiple resonances enables a direct experimental demonstration of the relationship between resonance properties (such as Q and ER), and the obtained ΔT variation rate with respect to the violet light power. It verifies experimentally that a higher resonance Q and a larger ER can lead to a higher ΔT variation rate. In terms of the operating speed, this device runs as fast as ~3.2 ms. 16Quantum light source devices of In(Ga)As semiconductor self-assembled quantum dots显示文摘A brief introduction of semiconductor self-assembled quantum dots (QDs) applied in single-photon sources is given. Single QDs in confined quantum optical microcavity systems are reviewed along with their optical properties and coupling characteristics. Subsequently, the recent progresses in In(Ga)As QDs systems are summarized including the preparation of quantum light sources, multiple methods for embedding single QDs into different microcavities and the scalability of single-photon emitting wavelength. Particularly, several In(Ga)As QD single-photon devices are surveyed including In(Ga)As QDs coupling with nanowires, InAs QDs coupling with distributed Bragg reflection microcavity and the In(Ga)As QDs coupling with micropillar microcavities. 17Terrestrial carbon cycle model-data fusion:Progress and challenges显示文摘The terrestrial carbon cycle is an important component of global biogeochemical cycling and is closely related to human well-being and sustainable development.However,large uncertainties exist in carbon cycle simulations and observations.Model-data fusion is a powerful technique that combines models and observational data to minimize the uncertainties in terrestrial carbon cycle estimation.In this paper,we comprehensively overview the sources and characteristics of the uncertainties in terrestrial carbon cycle models and observations.We present the mathematical principles of two model-data fusion methods,i.e.,data assimilation and parameter estimation,both of which essentially achieve the optimal fusion of a model with observational data while considering the respective errors in the model and in the observations.Based upon reviewing the progress in carbon cycle models and observation techniques in recent years,we have highlighted the major challenges in terrestrial carbon cycle model-data fusion research,such as the“equifinality”of models,the identifiability of model parameters,the estimation of representativeness errors in surface fluxes and remote sensing observations,the potential role of the posterior probability distribution of parameters obtained from sensitivity analysis in determining the error covariance matrixes of the models,and opportunities that emerge by assimilating new remote sensing observations,such as solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence.It is also noted that the synthesis of multisource observations into a coherent carbon data assimilation system is by no means an easy task,yet a breakthrough in this bottleneck is a prerequisite for the development of a new generation of global carbon data assimilation systems.This article also highlights the importance of carbon cycle data assimilation systems to generate reliable and physically consistent terrestrial carbon cycle reanalysis data products with high spatial resolution and longterm time series.These products are critical to the accurate estimation of carbon cycles at the global and regional scales and will help future carbon management strategies meet the goals of carbon neutrality.Xin LI Hanqing MA Youhua RAN Xufeng WANG Gaofeng ZHU Feng LIU Honglin HE Zhen ZHANG Chunlin HUANG 2021Science China Earth Sciences2021,64,10:0

20Effect of the time-weakening friction law during the nucleation process显示文摘Based on dynamic rupture simulations on a planar fault in a homogeneous half-space, we investigated the nucleation processes using the time-weakening friction law. Both the characteristic time and the rupture speed in the nucleation asperity play an important role in determining rupture behaviors on a fault plane following the time-weakening friction law, with which rupture starts from a single point in the nucleation asperity and propagates at a given speed toward the boundary of the nucleation area. Rupture with a small characteristic time or a large rupture speed in the nucleation asperity propagates earlier from the hypocenter. Rupture following the slipweakening friction law requires a smaller radius of nucleation patch to have similar rupture front contours of the time-weakening friction law. Even if the rupture velocity in the nucleation patch of the time-weakening friction law increases to infinity, the peak slip rate in the nucleation asperity is smaller than that of the slip-weakening law.
