| 1 | The first metagenome of activated sludge from full-scale anaerobic/anoxic/oxic(A2O) nitrogen and phosphorus removal reactor using Illumina sequencing显示文摘The anaerobic/anoxic/oxic(A2O) process is globally one of the widely used biological sewage treatment processes. This is the first report of a metagenomic analysis using Illumina sequencing of full-scale A2O sludge from a municipal sewage treatment plant. With more than 530,000 clean reads from different taxa and metabolic categories, the metagenome results allow us to gain insight into the functioning of the biological community of the A2O sludge. There are 51 phyla and nearly 900 genera identified from the A2O activated sludge ecosystem. Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Nitrospirae and Chloroflexi are predominant phyla in the activated sludge, suggesting that these organisms play key roles in the biodegradation processes in the A2O sewage treatment system.Nitrospira, Thauera, Dechloromonas and Ignavibacterium, which have abilities to metabolize nitrogen and aromatic compounds, are most prevalent genera. The percent of nitrogen and phosphorus metabolism in the A2O sludge is 2.72% and 1.48%, respectively. In the current A2O sludge, the proportion of Candidatus Accumulibacter is 1.37%, which is several times more than that reported in a recent study of A2O sludge. Among the four processes of nitrogen metabolism, denitrification related genes had the highest number of sequences(76.74%), followed by ammonification(15.77%), nitrogen fixation(3.88%) and nitrification(3.61%). In phylum Planctomycetes, four genera(Planctomyces, Pirellula, Gemmata and Singulisphaera) are included in the top 30 abundant genera, suggesting the key role of ANAMMOX in nitrogen metabolism in the A2O sludge. | Mei Tian Fangqing Zhao Xin Shen Kahou Chu Jinfeng Wang Shuai Chen Yan Guo Hanhu Liu | 2015 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2015,27,9: | 20 |

| 6 | Optimization of Well Position and Sampling Frequency for Groundwater Monitoring and Inverse Identification of Contamination Source Conditions Using Bayes’Theorem显示文摘Coupling Bayes’Theorem with a two-dimensional(2D)groundwater solute advection-diffusion transport equation allows an inverse model to be established to identify a set of contamination source parameters including source intensity(M),release location(0 X,0 Y)and release time(0 T),based on monitoring well data.To address the issues of insufficient monitoring wells or weak correlation between monitoring data and model parameters,a monitoring well design optimization approach was developed based on the Bayesian formula and information entropy. To demonstrate how the model works,an exemplar problem with an instantaneous release of a contaminant in a confined groundwater aquifer was employed. The information entropy of the model parameters posterior distribution was used as a criterion to evaluate the monitoring data quantity index. The optimal monitoring well position and monitoring frequency were solved by the two-step Monte Carlo method and differential evolution algorithm given a known well monitoring locations and monitoring events.Based on the optimized monitoring well position and sampling frequency, the contamination source was identified by an improved Metropolis algorithm using the Latin hypercube sampling approach. The case study results show that the following parameters were obtained:1)the optimal monitoring well position(D)is at(445,200);and 2)the optimal monitoring frequency(Δt)is 7,providing that the monitoring events is set as 5 times.Employing the optimized monitoring well position and frequency, the mean errors of inverse modeling results in source parameters(M,X0,Y0,T0)were 9.20%,0.25%,0.0061%,and 0.33%,respectively.The optimized monitoring well position and sampling frequency canIt was also learnt that the improved Metropolis-Hastings algorithm(a Markov chain Monte Carlo method)can make the inverse modeling result independent of the initial sampling points and achieves an overall optimization, which significantly improved the accuracy and numerical stability of the inverse modeling results. | Shuangsheng Zhang Hanhu Liu Jing Qiang Hongze Gao Diego Galar Jing Lin | 2019 | Computer Modeling in Engineering & Sciences2019,,5: | 1 |
| 7 | Spatial Distribution Prediction of Laterite Bauxite in Bolaven Plateau Using GIS显示文摘Mineral resources are the most important natural resources for developing countries. Bauxite is an indispensable mineral resource for industrial production. Potential assessment of bauxite is an important issue in Indochina Peninsula. In this paper, the factors affecting the mineralization of the lateritic bauxite are analyzed. The collected spatial data are processed and the information is extracted to obtain the spatial extent of favorable constraints. Then, the spatial distribution of potential bauxites on the Bolaven Plateau has been investigated with a Boolean modeling process in GIS environment on the basis of some constraints such as rock, elevation, topographical features and vegetation coverage. Finally, based on the hydrogeological conditions and alteration information of Fe3+ and OH-, the bauxite mapping has been carried out. There are twenty bauxite metallogenic areas delineated, with a total area of 750 km2, which is 5% of the entire study area. This has greatly reduced the scope of the field investigation. Seven of the twenty predicted areas were validated in the field and six of them were found to have bauxite mineralization. Using the methods proposed in this study, the potential bauxite for the entire Bolaven Plateau could be achieved much more cheaply than the traditional methods. This study also provides a good idea for the prediction of laterite bauxite in the other regions of the Indochina Peninsula. | Yuan Ouyang Hanhu Liu Xiao Wang Shusheng Liu Jinghua Zhang Hui Gao | 2019 | Journal of Earth Science2019,30,5: | 0 |
