1Carbon materials from melamine sponges for supercapacitors and lithium battery electrode materials: A review显示文摘With the increasing energy demand together with the deteriorating environment and decreasing fossil fuel resources,the development of highly efficient energy conversion and storage devices is one of the key challenges of both fundamental and applied research in energy technology.Melamine sponges(MS)with low density,high nitrogen content,and high porosity have been used to design and obtain three‐dimensional porous carbon electrode materials.More importantly,they are inexpensive,environment‐friendly,and easy to synthesize.There have been many reports on the modification of carbonized MS and MS‐based composites for supercapacitor and lithium battery electrode materials.In this paper,recent studies on the fabrication of electrode materials using MS as raw materials have been mainly reviewed,including carbonation,doping activation,and composite modification of MS,and expectations for the development of porous carbon materials for energy storage as a reference with excellent performance,environment‐friendliness,and long life.Yanying Shi Guijing Liu Rencheng Jin Hui Xu Qingyao Wang Shanmin Gao 2019Carbon Energy2019,1,2:11
2Characteristics of authigenic pyrite and its sulfur isotopes influenced by methane seep at Core A, Site 79 of the middle Okinawa Trough显示文摘The anaerobic oxidation of methane(AOM) has strongly developed at Core A, Site 79 of the middle Okinawa Trough, East China Sea, and a large amount of authigenic pyrite is preserved in the surface sediment. In this study, we analyze the characteristics of the authigenic pyrite and its sulfur isotopic values. The authigenic pyrite is stripy and tubular, and there were foraminifera compartments filled with pyrite. The pyrite is extracted using chromium reduction, and the values of ? 34 S are found to lie between ?41.20‰ and 8.92‰ V-CDT. The bulk pyrite tends to be more enriched in 34 S with increasing depth. Particularly, the ? 34 S value of the pyrite lies between ?32.73‰ and ?41.20‰ V-CDT above 278 cmbsf, but it quickly increases below this depth(?21.49‰–8.92‰ V-CDT). At the same time, the total sulfur content of the pyrite shows an abrupt increase above 100 cmbsf but is otherwise stable between 1.04% and 0.55% below 100 cmbsf. The stable and negative values of ? 34 S and the decreasing values of total sulfur above 278 cmbsf indicate reduced AOM activities in 17.18–5.3 ka. In addition, the increasing ? 34 S and pyrite content indicate strong AOM development and methane seep below 278 cmbsf in 18.8–17.18 ka. In particular, the highest positive value of ? 34 S occurring in 18.78 ka indicates the most intense AOM activity. 4A literature review of cost-effectiveness of intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator for treating acute ischaemic stroke显示文摘Background Intravenous recombinant tissue plasminogen activator(IV rtPA)is recommended treatment for patients with acute ischaemic stroke,but the cost-effectiveness of IV rtPA within different time windows after the onset of acute ischaemic stroke is not well reviewed.Aims To conduct a literature review of the cost-effectiveness studies about IV rtPA by treatment times.Summary of review A literature search was conducted using MEDLINE,EMBASE,CINAHL and Cochrane Library,with the keywords acute ischemic stroke,tissue plasminogen activator,cost,economic benefit,saving and incremental cost-effectiveness analysis.The review is limited to original research articles published during 1995-2016 in English-language peer-reviewed journals.We found 16 studies meeting our criteria for this review.Nine of them were cost-effectiveness studies of IV rtPA treatment within 0-3 hours after stroke onset,2 studies within 3-4.5 hours,3 studies within 0-4.5 hours and 2 studies within 0-6 hours.IV rtPA is a cost-saving or a cost-effectiveness strategy from most of the study results.Only one study showed incremental cost-effectiveness ratio of IV rtPA within 1 year was marginally above US$50000 per quality-adjusted life year threshold.IV rtPA within 0-3 hours after stroke led to cost savings for lifetime or 30 years and IV rtPA within 3-4.5 hours after stroke increased costs but still was cost-effective.Conclusions The literature generally showed that IV rtPA was a dominant or a cost-effective strategy compared with traditional treatment for patients with acute ischaemic stroke without IV rtPA.The findings from the literature lacked generalisability because of limited data and various assumptions.Heesoo Joo Guijing Wang Mary G George 2017Stroke & Vascular Neurology2017,2,2:2
5Three-dimensional characteristics of mesoscale eddies simulated by a regional model in the northwestern Pacific Ocean during 2000–2008显示文摘Mesoscale eddies play vital roles in ocean processes.Although previous studies focused on eddy surface features and individual three-dimensional(3D)eddy cases in the northwestern Pacific Ocean,the analysis of unique eddy3D regional characteristics is still lacking.A 3D eddy detection scheme is applied to 9 years(2000-2008)of eddyresolving Regional Ocean Modeling System(ROMS)output to obtain a 3D eddy dataset from the surface to a depth of 1000 m in the northwestern Pacific Ocean(15°-35°N,120°-145°E).The 3D characteristics of mesoscale eddies are analyzed in two regions,namely,Box1(Subtropical Countercurrent,15°-25°N,120°-145°E)and Box2(Southern Kuroshio Extension,25°-35°N,120°-145°E).In Box1,the current is characterized by strong vertical shear and weak horizontal shear.In Box2,the current is characterized by the strong Kuroshio,topographic effect,and the westward propagation of Rossby waves.The results indicate the importance of baroclinic instability in Box1,whereas in Box2,both the barotropic and baroclinic instability are important.Moreover,the mesoscale eddies’properties in Box1 and Box2 are distinct.The eddies in Box1 have larger number and radius but a shorter lifetime.By contrast,Box2 has fewer eddies,which have smaller radius but longer lifetime.Vertically,more eddies are detected at the subsurface than at the surface in both regions;the depth of 650 m is the turning point in Box1.Above this depth,the number of cyclonic eddies(CEs)is larger than that of anticyclonic eddies(AEs).In Box2,the number of CEs is dominant vertically.Eddy kinetic energy(EKE)and mean normalized relative vorticity in Box2are significantly higher than those in Box1.With increasing depth,the attenuation trend of EKE and relative vorticity of Box1 become greater than those of Box2.Furthermore,the upper ocean(about 300 m in depth)contains 68.6%of the eddies(instantaneous eddy).Only 16.6%of the eddies extend to 1000 m.In addition,about87%of the eddies are bowl-shaped eddies in the two regions.Only about 3%are cone-shaped eddies.With increasing depth of the eddies,the proportion of bowl-shaped eddies gradually decreases.Conversely,the coneand lens-shaped eddies are equal in number at 700-1000 m,accounting for about 30%each.Studying the 3D characteristics of eddies in two different regions of the northwestern Pacific Ocean is an important stepping stone for discussing the different eddy generation mechanisms.Guijing Yang Xiayan Lin Guoqing Han Yu Liu Gengxin Chen Jianhui Wang 2022Acta Oceanologica Sinica2022,41,10:1

9Use of intravenous tissue plasminogen activator and hospital costs for patients with acute ischaemic stroke aged 18–64 years in the USA显示文摘Introduction:Intravenous tissue plasminogen activator(IV tPA)is a globally recommended treatment for patients with acute ischaemic stroke.We examined IV tPA use among patients aged 18–64 years with a primary diagnosis of acute ischaemic stroke in the USA and inpatient costs per hospitalisation by IV tPA use status among these patients.Methods:Using the 2010–2013 MarketScan Commercial Claims and Encounters Inpatient Data,we identified 39149 hospitalisations with a primary diagnosis of acute ischaemic stroke.We verified those with and without IV tPA by ICD-9 procedure code 99.10.We estimated trends in IV tPA use by applying logistic regression.The average inpatient costs per acute ischaemic stroke hospitalisation were assessed for subpopulations.We examined costs per acute ischaemic stroke hospitalisation using multivariate regression models controlling for IV tPA status,age,gender,urbanisation,geographic region,Charlson comorbidity index,length of hospital stays(LOS)and discharge status.Results:2546 hospitalisations(6.5%)used IV tPA.IV tPA use increased over time(2010 vs 2013;OR 1.50).Average inpatient costs per acute ischaemic stroke hospitalisation were$20331($31369 for the IV tPA group,$19563 for the non-tPA group).From multivariate analyses,higher costs per acute ischaemic stroke hospitalisation were associated with longer LOS,non-home discharge destination,and IV tPA use,which might be correlated with severity of stroke.Conclusions:Findings suggest that IV tPA use has increased in recent years while the inpatient costs per acute ischaemic stroke hospitalisation using IV tPA are substantial.Those findings are useful in better understanding the overall economic burden of stroke,short-term cost implications of using IV tPA,and for estimating the accurate cost-effectiveness of stroke treatments.Heesoo Joo Guijing Wang Mary G George 2016Stroke & Vascular Neurology2016,1,1:0
10Understanding cost data collection tools to improve economic evaluations of health interventions显示文摘Micro-costing data collection tools often used in literature include standardized comprehensive templates,targeted questionnaires,activity logs,on-site administrative databases,and direct observation.These tools are not mutually exclusive and are often used in combination.Each tool has unique merits and limitations,and some may be more applicable than others under different circumstances.Proper application of micro-costing tools can produce quality cost estimates and enhance the usefulness of economic evaluations to inform resource allocation decisions.A common method to derive both fixed and variable costs of an intervention involves collecting data from the bottom up for each resource consumed(micro-costing).We scanned economic evaluation literature published in 2008-2018 and identified micro-costing data collection tools used.We categorized the identified tools and discuss their practical applications in an example study of health interventions,including their potential strengths and weaknesses.Sound economic evaluations of health interventions provide valuable information for justifying resource allocation decisions,planning for implementation,and enhancing the sustainability of the interventions.However,the quality of intervention cost estimates is seldom addressed in the literature.Reliable cost data forms the foundation of economic evaluations,and without reliable estimates,evaluation results,such as cost-effectiveness measures,could be misleading.In this project,we identified data collection tools often used to obtain reliable data for estimating costs of interventions that prevent and manage chronic conditions and considered practical applications to promote their use.John M Chapel Guijing Wang 2019Stroke & Vascular Neurology2019,4,4:0
11g-C_(3)N_(4)-coated MnO_(2)hollow nanorod cathode for stable aqueous Zn-ion batteries显示文摘Aqueous zinc-ion batteries are attracting considerable attention because of their high safety compared with conventional lithium-ion batteries.Manganese-based materials have been widely developed for zinc-ion batteries cathode owning to their low cost,high security and simple preparation.However,the severe volume expansion and poor stability during charging and discharging limit the further development of manganese-based cathodes.Herein,superiorα-MnO_(2)@g-C_(3)N_(4)was successfully prepared for stable zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs)cathode by introducing g-C_(3)N_(4)nanosheets.Compared with pureα-MnO_(2),αMnO_(2)@g-C_(3)N_(4)has a specific capacity of 298 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.1 A·g^(-1).Even at 1 A·g^(-1),theα-MnO_(2)@g-C_(3)N_(4)still retains 100 mAh·g^(-1)(83.4%retention after 5000 cycles),implying its excellent cycling stability.Theα-MnO_(2)@gC_(3)N_(4)-based cathode has the highest energy density(563 Wh·kg^(-1))and power energy density(2170 W·kg^(-1)).This work provides new avenues for the development of a wider range of cathode materials for ZIBs.Jiwei Xie Guijing Liu Kaikai Wang Xueming Li Yusen Bai Shanmin Gao Leqing Fan Rundou Zheng 2023Frontiers of Chemical Science and Engineering2023,17,2:0
