| 1 | Effect of electric acupoint stimulation on gastrointestinal hormones and motility among geriatric postoperative patients with gastrointestinal tumors显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effects of electric acupoint stimulation on gastrointestinal hormones and motility among geriatric postoperative patients with gastrointestinal tumors,and to explore an efficient and noninvasive method for postoperative recovery of bowel functions.METHODS:Forty patients were randomly and evenly assigned into a regular nursing care group(RNC) and an acupoint electric stimulation group(AES).Patients in the RNC group received regular nursing care and patients in the AES group received regular nursing care plus electric stimulation of acupoints.The serum levels of gastrin(GAS),motilin(MOT),and cholecystokinin(CCK),and an electrogastrogram(EGG) of all the patients were evaluated on the first,third,and fifth day after surgery.The time to first flatus after surgery and the number of patients with side effects such as abdominal pain,abdominal distention,and diarrhea were recorded.RESULTS:There were significant differences between the two groups in GAS,MOT,EGG,time to first flatus,abdominal pain,abdominal distention,and diarrhea(P < 0.05).CONCLUSION:Electric stimulation on acupoints could increase levels of GAS and MOT,promote the recovery of gastrointestinal functions,and decrease complications among postoperative senile patients with gastrointestinal tumors. | Hou Lili Xu Lei Shi Yan Gu Fen | 2016 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2016,36,4: | 15 |
| 2 | The role of autophagic and lysosomal pathways in ischemic brain injury显示文摘Autophagy is involved in neural cell death after cerebral ischemia. Our previous studies showed that rapamycin-induced autophagy decreased the rate of apoptosis, but the rate of apoptosis was in-creased after the autophagy inhibitor, 3-methyladenine, was used. In this study, a suture-occluded method was performed to generate a rat model of brain ischemia. Under a transmission electron microscope, autophagic bodies and autophagy lysosomes were markedly accumulated in neurons at 4 hours post brain ischemic injury, with their numbers gradually reducing over time. Western blotting demonstrated that protein levels of light chain 3-II and cathepsin B were significantly in-creased within 4 hours of ischemic injury, but these levels were not persistently upregulated over time. Confocal microscopy showed that autophagy was mainly found in neurons with positive light chain 3 signal. Injection of rapamycin via tail vein promoted the occurrence of autophagy in rat brain tissue after cerebral ischemia and elevated light chain 3 and cathepsin B expression. However, in-jection of 3-methyladenine significantly diminished light chain 3-II and cathepsin B expression. Results verified that autophagic and lysosomal activity is increased in ischemic neurons. Abnormal components in cells can be eliminated through upregulating cell autophagy or inhibiting autophagy after ischemic brain injury, resulting in a dynamic balance of substances in cells. | 17 | Fatigue correlates with sleep disturbances in Parkinson disease显示文摘Background: Many Parkinson disease (PD) patients complain about chronic fatigue and sleep disturbances during the night. The objective of this study is to determine the relationship between fatigue and sleep disturbances by using polysomnography (PSG) in PD patients.Methods: Two hundred and thirty-two PD patients (152 with mild fatigue and 80 with severe fatigue) were recruited in this study. Demographic information and clinical symptoms were collected. Fatigue severity scale (FSS) was applied to evaluate the severity of fatigue, and PSG was conducted in all PD patients. FSS ≥4 was defined as severe fatigue, and FSS <4 was defined as mild fatigue. Multivariate logistic regression and linear regression models were used to investigate the associations between fatigue and sleep disturbances.Results: Patients with severe fatigue tended to have a longer duration of disease, higher Unified Parkinson Disease Rating Scale score, more advanced Hoehn and Yahr stage, higher daily levodopa equivalent dose, worse depression, anxiety, and higher daytime sleepiness score. In addition, they had lower percentage of rapid eye movement (REM) sleep (P = 0.009) and were more likely to have REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD) (P = 0.018). Multivariate logistic regression analyses found that the presence of RBD and proportion of REM sleep were the independent predictors for fatigue. | 18 | Diagnostic Efficacy of^(18)F-FDG PET/CT in Detecting Bone Marrow Infiltration in Patients with Newly Diagnosed Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma显示文摘Objective Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma(DLBCL)is often associated with bone marrow infiltration,and 2-deoxy-2-(18F)fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography(^(18)F-FDG PET/CT)has potential diagnostic significance for bone marrow infiltration in DLBCL.Methods A total of 102 patients diagnosed with DLBCL between September 2019 and August 2022 were included.Bone marrow biopsy and^(18)F-FDG PET/CT examinations were performed at the time of initial diagnosis.Kappa tests were used to evaluate the agreement of^(18)F-FDG PET/CT with the gold standard,and the imaging features of DLBCL bone marrow infiltration on PET/CT were described.Results The total detection rate of bone marrow infiltration was not significantly different between PET/CT and primary bone marrow biopsy(P=0.302)or between the two bone marrow biopsies(P=0.826).The sensitivity,specificity,and Youden index of PET/CT for the diagnosis of DLBCL bone marrow infiltration were 0.923(95%CI,0.759-0.979),0.934(95%CI,0.855-0.972),and 0.857,respectively.Conclusion^(18)F-FDG PET/CT has a comparable efficiency in the diagnosis of DLBCL bone marrow infiltration.PET/CT-guided bone marrow biopsy can reduce the misdiagnosis of DLBCL bone marrow infiltration. | GUO Bo QIN Ran GU Zhen Yang LI Yan Fen GAO Lei HUANG Wen Rong | 2023 | Biomedical and Environmental Sciences2023,36,6: | 0 |
| 19 | Rapid assembly of 1,3-indanedione-based spirocyclic tetrahydroquinolines for inducing human lung cancer cell apoptosis显示文摘The rapid collection of a library of biologically relevant molecules is essential in new drug discovery.Here we show a variety of bioactive 1,3-indanedione-based spirocyclic tetrahydroquinolines that have been concisely and efficiently constructed under the guidance of biology-oriented synthesis(BIOS).Using Pd(PPh_(3))_(4) as a catalyst,various 2-arylidene-1,3-indanediones can react with vinyl benzoxazinanones under the mild condition to afford a new class of spirocyclic tetrahydroquinolines in moderate to excellent yields(45%-99%)with high stereocontrol(>95:5 diastereoselectivity).Their structures were unambiguously confirmed by X-ray single crystal analysis.The biological evaluation revealed that two of the 1,3-indanedione-based spirocyclic tetrahydroquinolines show remarkable apoptosis-inducing activities over A549 human lung cancer cells,exceeding that of cisplatin.The antitur activities were triggered by reactive oxygen species,commonly overproduced in cancer cells.The clinical demand for antitumor chemotherapy for lung cancer has encouraged an all-out search for analogues with lower toxcity,improved therapeutic index and increased activity. | Fen Tan Luojia Chen Yuncong Yuan Xiaoyu He Yiwen Su Shuqiang Cao Conghua Xie Meijia Gu Youquan Zou | 2022 | Green Synthesis and Catalysis2022,3,4: | 0 |
