Development of mechatronic driving system for seed meters equipped on conventional precision corn planter显示文摘Precision planters are more and more widely used for planting corn in China.Seed meters of conventional precision corn planters are usually driven by ground wheel and chain and sprocket system at present.Because of the slippage of ground wheels and vibration of chains, planting accuracy cannot be ensured, especially at higher forward speed. To improve the planting performance of precision planters,a mechatronic driving system was designed and its field working performance was evaluated in this research.A two-row pneumatic precision planter was modified to allow simultaneously using two different driving systems,i.e,with one row unit equipped with the newly designed mechatronic driving system and the other row unit equipped with conventional mechanical driving system, and used for planting at three forward speeds(9,11 and 12 km/h)on no-tillage and rotary-tillage lands. The distances between adjacent seeds in each plot were measured and the indices of uniformity in seed spacing, quality of feeding index(QFI),missing-seeding index and precision index were analyzed. With the average 4.70%increase of QFI and 3.54%decrease of missing-seeding index, the mechatronic driving system performed better than the mechanical driving system both on no-tillage and rotary-tillage lands at each forward speed. The values of QFI,missing-seeding index and precision index of the mechatronic driving system on rotary-tillage land are comparable to those on no-tillage land,by contrast, these indices of the mechanical driving system on rotary-tillage land are significantly worse than those on no-tillage land. The result indicates that the mechatronic driving system can eliminate the effect of ground wheel slippage on planting quality and maintain the uniformity of seed distribution.Although the QFI,missing-seeding index and precision index become worse with the increase of forward speed, with the worst values of QFI of 89.93%,missing-seeding index of 5.08%and precision index of 18.92%at the highest forward speed of 12 km/h,the mechatronic driving system can reduce the effect of forward speed on planting accuracy effectively. The result indicates that planters equipped with the mechatronic driving system are suitable for high speed planting. As compared to the mechanical driving system, the advantage of the mechatronic driving system is more noticeable especially when the forward speed is more than 11 km/h. | Yang Li He Xiantao Cui Tao Zhang Dongxing Shi Song Zhang Rui Wang Mantao | 2015 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2015,8,4: | 22
Response of soil heat-water processes to vegetation cover on the typical permafrost and seasonally frozen soil in the headwaters of the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers显示文摘The response of soil temperature and moisture to vegetative cover in the active layer of permafrost and seasonally frozen soil were assessed and compared. Soil temperature and moisture, under a range of vegetation covers (92%, 65% and 30%) in the permafrost and vegetation covers (95%, 70%―80%, 40%―50% and 10%) in the seasonally frozen soil, were measured on a daily basis. A decline in vege-tation cover led to a decrease in the integral of freezing depth of active permafrost layer, but an increase in seasonally frozen soil. The maximum invasion depth and duration of the negative isotherm during the frozen period and of the positive isotherm during the non-frozen period clearly increased when vegetation cover declined. With a reduction of vegetation cover, the soil moisture in the active layer of the permafrost decreased for depths of 0.20―0.60 m, but increased for depths of 0.60―0.80 m, while for seasonally frozen soil, soil moisture of the entire profile (0.10―1.20 m) increased. Variation in vegetation cover alters soil heat-water processes, but the response to it is different between permafrost and seasonally frozen soil. | HU HongChang WANG GenXu WANG YiBo LIU GuangSheng LI TaiBing REN DongXing | 2009 | Chinese Science Bulletin2009,54,7: | 18
Global overview of research progress and development of precision maize planters显示文摘Maize is the most important crop for food and widely used for industrial materials, leading to its increasing demand all over the world.Precision planting is the effective method to increase maize yield. To meet the agronomic requirement of precision planting, different kinds of precision maize planters were developed. However, because of the difference of geographical environment, cropping system, farm scale and economic status among different countries, types of maize planters are various and the technologies involved are at different levels. This paper summarizes the precision maize planters currently available in the world and classifies them into four types:precision planters for tilled-land,minimum/no tilled-land,hilly&small land, and cold&arid land.Detailed characteristics have been provided for some typical precision planters and comparisons were made as to their suitability under particular working conditions.High-efficiency and high-accuracy are the main features of precision planters for tilled-land,while the ability to clean residue from seed rows and prevent planters to be blocked are the important function of precision planters for minimum/no tilled-land.To fit for hilly&small land, planters should be light-weighted and small-sized,and to warm up soil and keep moisture, planters for cold&arid land should be equipped with plastic-film mulching mechanism. Finally, developing trend of precision planting technology was analyzed and suggestions, including policy support and technical improvement, were made for developing countries to make suitable precision maize planters according to the local geographical conditions and cropping systems. | Yang Li Yan Bingxin Cui Tao Yu Yiming He Xiantao Liu Quanwei Liang Zhijie Yin Xiaowei Zhang Dongxing | 2016 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,1: | 17
Development and application of mechanized maize harvesters显示文摘Maize harvesting is one of the most important filed operations of maize production. As the accelerating development of maize industry, mechanized maize harvesting is widely accepted and used by farmers in the world.According to the harvesting methods, maize harvesters could be classified into two types, one is maize-for-grain harvesters, including pickers and grain harvesters, the other is whole plant harvesters, including forage harvesters and combined grain-stover harvesters.Structure characteristics, appropriate areas and relative technologies of those harvesters are described in this paper,i.e.,pickers are suitable for multi-crop areas,Grain harvesters are mainly for one-crop areas when grain moisture content is lower than 25%,combined grain-stover harvesters are applicable in agro-pastoral ecotone, and forage harvesters are capable in large-scaled animal husbandry farming areas where large amount of silage are required.Meanwhile, the future development trend of the different harvesters is predicted.Big horsepower engines, enhanced working efficiency, automation and intelligence are required by large scaled farms. As maize breeding development, more varieties that are suitable for grain harvesting are put into practice,so grain combine harvesters will be popular in future. | Yang Li Cui Tao Qu Zhe Li Kehong Yin Xiaowei Han Dandan Yan Bingxin Zhao Dongyue Zhang Dongxing | 2016 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,3: | 13
Performance of no-till corn precision planter equipped with row cleaners显示文摘In the continuous annual wheat-corn cropping area of North China Plain,no-till planting that promotes soil conservation and crop yield while reducing operation cost has been gradually accepted by local farmers. However, previous wheat residue is the main limiting factor affecting the performance of existing planters in placing seeds at uniform spacing and optimum depth in residue covered fields. In order to solve this problem,a kind of ground-wheel-driven row cleaner was designed, developed and mounted on row units of a four-row pneumatic precision planter. The planter has two adjacent row units equipped with the newly designed row cleaners and the other two adjacent row units equipped with the commonly used inactive row cleaners. This was used for planting at three forward speeds(4 km/h,6 km/h and 8 km/h)into half residue(HR)and whole residue(WR)plots. The amount of residue removal, seeding depth, emergence rate and indices of uniformity in seed spacing(missing-seeding index, quality of feeding index and precision index)were measured. The newly designed row cleaner performed better with regard to residue removal, with the average percentage of residue cleared as 63.0%compared to 40.3%for the inactive row cleaner. For the HR and WR plots, percentage of residue cleared of the newly designed row cleaner reached 57.1%and 68.9%respectively,suggesting that the newly designed row cleaner can work more effectively at high residue level.By contrast, with the percentage of residue cleared of the inactive row cleaner as 43.1%and 37.5%in HR and WR plots, suggesting that the inactive row cleaner just can work effectively under low residue condition.Values of missing-seeding index,QFI,precision index, coefficient of variation of depth and percent emergence for the newly designed row cleaner under whole residue level are comparable to those for the inactive row cleaner under half residue level. The result indicates that the effect of using the newly designed row cleaner is equal to that of reducing surface residue, and can help to maintain the uniformity of seed spacing and seeding depth. The newly designed row cleaner generally performed better at forward speed of 6 km/h,based on the distribution of seeds along rows and seeding depth uniformity. | Yang Li Zhang Rui Gao Nana Cui Tao Liu Quanwei Zhang Dongxing | 2015 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2015,8,5: | 9
Topographic species-habitat associations of tree species in a heterogeneous tropical karst seasonal rain forest, China显示文摘Aims Tropical and subtropical karst forests of south China are under increas-ing pressure from over-exploitation causing widespread habitat degra-dation and biodiversity loss.Previous research has demonstrated that topography,as a proxy for resource availability, plays an important role in shaping tree species distributions in tropical forests. However, the association between growth stages and habitats types has not been considered in this analysis. Our aim was to examine the differences among different habitat types to determine whether tree species show similar species-habitat associations at young and mature life stages. Methods We used multivariate regression tree analysis to examined species-habitat associations among eight topographically defined habitats. The results were tested with a torus-translation test and canonical correspondence analysis(CCA)for 74 species in a 15 ha karst tropi-cal seasonal rain forest at the Nonggang National Natural Reserve in south China. We considered two life stages(young and mature)of trees species that showed a positive association with topography.Important Findings We found marked differences in community characteristics and number of associations among the eight habitats.Of the 74 species subjected to torus-translation test,63 had significant positive and 70 had significant negative associations with one or more of the eight habitats.Positive associations were more frequent in higher elevation habitats and negative associations were more frequent in lower eleva-tion habitats. This suggests that edaphic and hydrological variation related to topography play important roles in habitat partitioning in heterogeneous karst forests. For the 63 tree species with significant positive associations to at least one habitat,40 of them had the same positive association at young and mature life stages. The CCA revealed that the six topographic variables considered had consistent relation-ships with species distribution among all individuals and their two life stages. This indicates that most of the karst forest tree species show consistent associations with a single habitat throughout their life.We conclude that niche differentiation plays an important role in main-taining the diversity of this heterogeneous species-rich karst forest. | Yili Guo Bin Wang Azim U.Mallik Fuzhao Huang Wusheng Xiang Tao Ding Shujun Wen Shuhua Lu Dongxing Li Yunlin He Xiankun Li | 2017 | Journal of Plant Ecology2017,10,3: | 6
Influence of Voids on the Tensile Performance of Carbon/epoxy Fabric Laminates显示文摘This paper aims at investigating the effect of voids on the tensile properties of [(±45)4/(0,90)/(±45)2] S and [(±45)/0 4/(±45)(0,90)] S composites.Specimens with void contents in the range of 0.4% to 9.0% were fabricated from carbon/epoxy fabric. The void content was determined by ultrasonic attenuation and optical image analysis, and microscopic inspection was also used to analyze the shape and size of the voids. The influence of voids on the tensile strength and modulus of both stacking sequence is compared in terms of the size and the shape of the voids. The effect of voids on the initiation and propagation of tensile failure of both stacking sequence composite was investigated. | Hongyan Zhu Baochang Wu Dihong Li Dongxing Zhang Yuyong Chen | 2011 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2011,27,1: | 5
Design and experimental study of seed precise delivery mechanism for high-speed maize planter显示文摘Aiming at improving the seed spacing uniformity of maize planter at high forward speed,a seed precise delivery mechanism driven by electric motor has been developed and evaluated in laboratory. The mechanism was designed to deliver single seed from seed meter to furrow.Seed’s movement from the seed release point in a seed meter to the seed delivery cavity in the belt was analyzed, the mathematical model of seed movement in the seed precise delivery mechanism was established based on seed delivery time analysis.A mechanical prototype was designed and associated control system was developed. The performance contrast experiment was conducted between a traditional seed tube and newly developed seed precise delivery mechanism, and test results indicated that the qualities of feed index of the seed precise delivery mechanism were higher than those of the traditional seed tube delivery mechanism, and the coefficients of variation of the seed precise delivery mechanism were lower than those of the traditional seed tube delivery mechanism when the forward speed of planter was set at 10 km/h,12 km/h and 14 km/h,respectively.It indicated the seed precise delivery mechanism significantly improved seed spacing uniformity of maize planter compared with the traditional seed tube delivery mechanism. | Quanwei Liu Tao Cui Dongxing Zhang Li Yang Yunxia Wang Xiantao He Mantao Wang | 2018 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2018,11,4: | 4
Design of depth-control planting unit with single-side gauge wheel for no-till maize precision planter显示文摘No-till planters are very popular for maize seeding in fields covered with residue in annual wheat-maize double cropping system in North China Plain. However, there is no suitable depth control mechanism for existing no-till maize planters, and as a result,it is hard to obtain consistent planting depth, uniform emergence, and good passing ability at the same time. For the above reasons,a proper planting unit with a new type of depth-control mechanism was developed in this study. The mechanism consists of a single-side gauge wheel,a parallel four-bar linkage,a pair of double-disc opener,a V-shape press wheel and a depth regulator, which can adjust the planting depth from 30 mm to 90 mm to satisfy the agronomic requirement under different field conditions.Based on analysis and calculation, the width of gauge wheel was set to 50 mm while the length of parallel four-bar linkage was set to 350 mm.Field experiment was conducted and the results indicated that the newly designed planting unit with single-side gauge wheel performed well with regard to planting depth uniformity and anti-blocking ability. The planting depth uniformity and seed spacing quality were 95.45%and 91.90%,respectively,when the average height of stubble was 22.5 cm and residue amount was 0.64 kg/m^(2)in the field. It can satisfy the requirement of no-till maize planting on the cropland with residue and stubble in North China Plain. | Zhang Rui Cui Tao Han Dandan Zhang Dongxing Li Kehong Yin Xiaowei Wang Yunxia He Xiantao Yang Li | 2016 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2016,9,6: | 4
Effects of tilt angle of disk plough on some soil physical properties, work rate and wheel slippage under light clay soil显示文摘Standard Disk Plough(SDP)is the integral element of traditional farming system in Middle and Northern Sudan. In SDP,the tilt angle between the planes of the cutting edge of the disk which is inclined to a vertical line may be altered according to the field conditions.Tractor drivers usually use an angle close to maximum in order to decrease the tillage depth, consequently decreasing power requirements, without considering the tillage quality and the impact on the soil properties. This experiment was conducted at the College of Agricultural Studies farm of Sudan University of Science and Technology to study the effects of three tilt angles(15°,20°and 25°)on soil bulk density, mean weight diameter, wheel slippage, work rate(or effective field capacity)and soil volume disturbed using mounted disk plough. The nature of soil on the farm found to be light clay. The theoretical forward speed was maintained at 6 km/h.The results showed that increasing tilt angle of the plough significantly(p<0.05)increased the bulk density, mean weight diameter and field capacity while significantly decreasing the tractor wheel slippage and soil volume disturbance. | Abdalla N Osman Li Xia Zhang Dongxing | 2011 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2011,4,2: | 3
Ages and Hf isotopes of detrital zircons from the Permian strata in the engbatu area(Inner Mongolia) and tectonic implications显示文摘The Central Asian Orogenic Belt(CAOB) was built up through protracted accretion and collision of a variety of terranes/micro-continents during Neoproterozoice Mesozoic time. To understand potential links among Paleozoic subduction and accretionary processes that were operative during the development of the southeastern CAOB, we conducted a combined U-Pb and Hf-isotope analysis of detrital zircons from previously defined Devonian, Carboniferous and Early Permian strata in the Bengbatu area,Inner Mongolia. Detrital zircons from(meta-) sandstones in these strata commonly yield major Paleozoic age populations at ca. 300-261 Ma, 351-300 Ma and 517-419 Ma, and also give several Precambrian ages that range from 2687 Ma to 544 Ma. The youngest ages redefine the deposition of all these strata to be in the Middle Permian(Wordiane Capitanian) or later, much younger than previously considered. These ages, coupled with regional magmatic records, support an interpretation of most surrounding areas as possible detritus sources, including the Mongolian arcs to the north, the Northern Accretionary Orogen to the south, and the intervening Erenhote Hegenshan Ophiolite Belt. Zircons with magmatic ages of ca. 500-350 Ma and ca. 300-261 Ma display a large range of εHf(t) values(-13.97 to +15.31),whereas ca. 350-300 Ma zircons are dominated by positive εHf(t) values(+0.14 to +16.00). These results support the occurrence of two significant shifts of the zircon εHf(t) values, which has tectonic implications for the understanding of the Carboniferouse Permian evolution of the southeastern CAOB. A marked shift from mixed to positive zircon εHf(t) values at 350 -330 Ma likely manifests the incipient opening of the Hegenshan Ocean, due to the slab rollback of the subducting Paleo-Asian Oceanic lithosphere. Another shift from positive to mixed zircon εHf(t) values at ca. 300 Ma likely corresponds to a tectonic switch from syn-orogenic subduction-related to post-orogenic extensional setting, genetically related to the tectonic collapse of a formerly overthickened crust. | Bing Xu Guochun Zhao Jianhua Li Dongxing Liu Bo Wang Yigui Han Paul R. | 12 | Optimized design and field experiment of a staggered vibrating subsoiler for conservation tillage显示文摘Soil compaction is a common problem facing conservation fields that restricts crop root growth and causes yield decrease.Subsoil techniques have been developed to break up the compaction layer. However, subsoil implement requires large draft power that hampered the development of subsoil techniques for most of developing countries due to lack of large scale tractors.Aiming to optimize the penetration resistance of the subsoiler and create a good working environment for the operators,a staggered vibrating subsoiler was developed.A new staggered vibrating mechanism was designed to generate the staggered vibration of the shanks meanwhile the V-shape shanks arrangement was adopted to keep relative balance for the subsoiler. In order to obtain optimum working parameters of the vibration frequency and forward speed, the trajectory of shanks was simulated by using the MATLAB software. The forward speed of 2-3 km/h with vibration frequency of 12 Hz was recommended to acquire an effective decrease in draft force.Field performance of this subsoiler was evaluated in terms of the draft force, power requirement and tractor wheel slippage.By comparing the two operation modes, staggered vibrating(SV)and rigid(NV)of shanks, the decrease ratios of draft force for SV were determined by 16.97%,12.12%and 9.02%at forward speeds of 2.2 km/h,2.6 km/h and 3.1 km/h,respectively.This is better than the research for the 1SZ-460 vibratory subsoiler that was decreased by 9.09%in draft force. The power requirement for SV was not significantly greater than that for NV.The obviously decreased wheel slippage was observed for SV by decrease of 12.47%,17.96%and 21.79%at forward speeds of 2.2 km/h,2.6 km/h and 3.1 km/h,respectively.In conclusion, the staggered vibrating subsoiler presents preferable working performance and is recommended to be applied in subsoil tillage process for developing countries. | Yunxia Wang Abdalla N Osman Dongxing Zhang Li Yang Tao Cui Xiangjun Zhong | 2019 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2019,12,1: | 2
Effect of travel speed on seed spacing uniformity of corn seed meter显示文摘Both seeding performance of seed metering unit and travel speed of seed planter have significant effects on seeding quality, thereby affecting crop growth and yields. In order to determine the effects of different travel speeds on seed spacing uniformity, four different types of seed meters were evaluated at five different travel speeds on seed meter test bench and in field. The tested seed meters included a finger pickup seed meter,a scoop-wheel seed meter,an air-pressure type seed meter and an air-blowing type seed meter. The seeding performance of the horizontal distribution of seeds within a row was described by using the coefficient of variation, the quality of feed index, the multiple index and the miss-seeding index.Experiments were performed in laboratory and field, respectively. Results indicated that different travel speeds have statistically significant effects on seed spacing uniformity. The four types of seed meters performed better on the seed meter test bench than in the field.Coefficient of variation increases and quality of feed index decreases as the travel speed of seed planter increases. The best seed spacing uniformity was obtained with the air-pressure type seed meter, followed with the air-blowing type seed meter, the finger pickup seed meter and the scoop-wheel seed meter. There were considerable differences between the performances of the scoop-wheel seed meter in the bench test and field test;the seeding qualities were much better in the bench test than in the field test. The scoop-wheel seed meter is more sensitive to vibration than the other types of seed meters. | Liu Quanwei He Xiantao Yang Li Zhang Dongxing Cui Tao Qu Zhe Yan Bingxin Wang Mantao Zhang Tianliang | 2017 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2017,10,4: | 2

Bifurcation and dynamic behavior analysis of a rotating cantilever plate in subsonic airflow显示文摘Turbo-machineries,as key components, have wide applications in civil, aerospace, and mechanical engineering.By calculating natural frequencies and dynamical deformations,we have explained the rationality of the series form for the aerodynamic force of the blade under the subsonic flow in our earlier studies. In this paper, the subsonic aerodynamic force obtained numerically is applied to the low pressure compressor blade with a low constant rotating speed. The blade is established as a pre-twist and presetting cantilever plate with a rectangular section under combined excitations, including the centrifugal force and the aerodynamic force. In view of the first-order shear deformation theory and von-K′arm′an nonlinear geometric relationship, the nonlinear partial differential dynamical equations for the warping cantilever blade are derived by Hamilton’s principle. The second-order ordinary differential equations are acquired by the Galerkin approach. With consideration of 1:3 internal resonance and 1/2 sub-harmonic resonance, the averaged equation is derived by the asymptotic perturbation methodology.Bifurcation diagrams, phase portraits, waveforms, and power spectrums are numerically obtained to analyze the effects of the first harmonic of the aerodynamic force on nonlinear dynamical responses of the structure. | Li MA Minghui YAO Wei ZHANG Dongxing CAO | 2020 | Applied Mathematics and Mechanics(English Edition)2020,41,12: | 1

| 20 | β-decay studies of the neutron-rich ^(18,21)N isotopes显示文摘The β-decay studies of neutron-rich 18,21N isotopes have been performed using β-n, β-γ, and β-n-γ coincidence methods. The 18,21N ions were produced by the fragmentation of the 22Ne and 26Mg beams, respectively, on a thick beryllium target. The time of flight of the emitted neutrons following the β-decay of 18,21N was measured by a neutron detector system with wide energy detection range and low-energy detection threshold. In addition, several clover germanium detectors were used to detect the β-delayed γ-rays. The half-lives of the β-decays of 18N and 21N were determined to be (619±2) ms and (82.9±7.5) ms, respec tively. Several new β-delayed neutron groups were observed with a total branching ratio of (6.98±1.46)% and (90.5±4.2)% for 18N and 21N, respectively. The level schemes of 18O and 21O were deduced.
