1Improved Land Use and Leaf Area Index Enhances WRF-3DVAR Satellite Radiance Assimilation: A Case Study Focusing on Rainfall Simulation in the Shule River Basin during July 2013显示文摘The application of satellite radiance assimilation can improve the simulation of precipitation by numerical weather prediction models. However, substantial quantities of satellite data, especially those derived from low-level(surface-sensitive)channels, are rejected for use because of the difficulty in realistically modeling land surface emissivity and energy budgets.Here, we used an improved land use and leaf area index(LAI) dataset in the WRF-3 DVAR assimilation system to explore the benefit of using improved quality of land surface information to improve rainfall simulation for the Shule River Basin in the northeastern Tibetan Plateau as a case study. The results for July 2013 show that, for low-level channels(e.g., channel 3),the underestimation of brightness temperature in the original simulation was largely removed by more realistic land surface information. In addition, more satellite data could be utilized in the assimilation because the realistic land use and LAI data allowed more satellite radiance data to pass the deviation test and get used by the assimilation, which resulted in improved initial driving fields and better simulation in terms of temperature, relative humidity, vertical convection, and cumulative precipitation.Junhua YANG Zhenming JI Deliang CHEN Shichang KANG Congshen FU Keqin DUAN Miaogen SHEN 2018Advances in Atmospheric Sciences2018,35,6:2
2Light-triggered NO-releasing nanoparticles for treating mice with liver fibrosis显示文摘Liver fibrosis, resulting from chronic liver damage and characterized by the accumulation of extracellular matrix (ECM) proteins, is a characteristic of most types of chronic liver diseases. The activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSC) is considered an essential pathological hallmark in liver fibrosis. Although nitric oxide (NO) can effectively induce HSC apoptosis, the systemic administration of NO is ineffective and may cause severe complications such as hypotension. To overcome this limitation, nanoparticles were designed to target HSCs and release NO locally under the exposure of near infrared light (NIR). To achieve this, upconversion nanoparticle (UCNP) cores were enveloped in mesoporous silica shells (UCNP@mSiO2), which were modified with hyaluronic acid (HA-UCNP@mSiO2) and Roussin’s black salt (RBS). HA molecules recognize and bind to CD44 proteins, which are overexpressed on activated HSCs. Under exposure to a 980-nm NIR laser, the UCNP cores convert the 980-nm wavelength into ultraviolet (UV) light, which then energizes the RBS (NO donors), resulting in an efficient release of NO inside of the HSCs. Once released, NO triggers HSC apoptosis and reverses the liver fibrosis. Comparing with their model, the most important advantage of this modification is that the convolution with Gaussian processes in the filtering process is replaced by solving an initial-boundary value problem for the heat equation, which simplifies the numerical scheme to some extent. 6Effects of Northern Hemisphere Annular Mode on terrestrial near-surface wind speed over eastern China from 1979 to 2017显示文摘Large-scale ocean‒atmosphere circulations(LOACs)have a pronounced effect on the near-surface wind speed(NSWS).In this study,we discussed the contributions of zonal and meridional flows to NSWS changes and identify the possible association between the Northern Hemisphere Annular Mode(NAM)and the NSWS changes over eastern China from 1979 to 2017.Results show that the reduction in NSWS over eastern China was mainly dominated by the weakening of the zonal wind component.NAM has a considerable effect on the NSWS over eastern China.When the NAM exhibits positive phases,the zonal-mean westerly weakens at low-to-mid-latitudes(10°-40°N).Meanwhile,descending flows prevail near 40°N,and ascending flows persist near 65°N in the troposphere.In the lower troposphere,there are northerly anomalies at low-to-mid-latitudes and southerly anomalies at mid-to-high latitudes(40°-70°N).The anomalous meridional flows transport heat from low to high latitudes and weaken the north‒south air temperature gradient.The decreased air temperature gradient over East Asia reduces the pressure gradient near the surface,decreasing NSWS in eastern China.NAM variations could dominate(32.0±15.8)%of the changes in the annual mean NSWS.Nevertheless,the contribution of NAM to the interannual changes of the zonal component in NSWS could reach(45.0±12.9)%.Jin-Lin ZHA Cheng SHEN Jian WU De-Ming ZHAO Wen-Xuan FAN Hui-Ping JIANG Cesar AZORIN-MOLINA Deliang CHEN 2022Advances in Climate Change Research2022,13,6:0
73-5 An Experiment Setup for Synergetic Effect of Irradiation and LBE in IMP显示文摘Due to its unique properties, such as favorable neutronic characteristic, low melting point(~125 ?C) and highboiling point (> 1 600 ?C), good natural circulation and chemical inertness with water and air (unlike sodium), etc,lead bismuth eutectic (LBE) has been considered as perspective coolant and spallation target for accelerator drivensystems (ADS)[1;2]. The spallation structural materials of ADS will be long-term irradiated with fast neutrons whilesimultaneous being contact with LBE coolant. In the past few decades, irradiation or LBE corrosion behaviors invarious of materials have been massively investigated for the purpose of developing ADS. However, there are onlya few experiment data on the combined effect of irradiation and LBE corrosion on structural materials due to lackof related experimental setups[3;4]. 8Neutrophil membrane-camouflaged nanoparticles alleviate inflammation and promote angiogenesis in ischemic myocardial injury显示文摘Acute myocardial infarction(AMI)induces a sterile inflammatory response,leading to cardiomyocyte damage and adverse cardiac remodeling.Interleukin-5(IL-5)plays an essential role in developing eosinophils(EOS),which are beneficial for the resolution of inflammation.Furthermore,the proangiogenic properties of IL-5 also contribute to tissue healing following injury.Therefore,targeted delivery of IL-5 is an innovative therapeutic approach for treating AMI.It has been shown that conventional IL-5 delivery can result in undesirable adverse effects and potential drug overdose.In this study,we successfully synthesized a biomimetic IL-5 nanoparticle by camouflaging the IL-5 nanoparticle in a neutrophilic membrane.The administration of neutrophil membrane-camouflaged nanoparticles(NM-NPIL-5)in the in vivo model showed that these nanoparticles promoted EOS accumulation and angiogenesis in the infarcted myocardium,thereby limiting adverse cardiac remodeling after AMI.Our results also demonstrated that the NM-NPIL-5 could serve as neutrophil“decoys”to adsorb and neutralize the elevated neutrophil-related cytokines in the injured heart by inheriting multiple receptors from their“parent”neutrophils.Finally,the targeted delivery of NM-NPIL-5 protected the cardiomyocytes from excessive inflammatory-induced apoptosis and maintained cardiac function.Our findings provided a promising cardiac detoxification agent for acute cardiac injury.Dongjian Han Fuhang Wang Zhentao Qiao Bo Wang Yi Zhang Qingjiao Jiang Miaomiao Liu Yuansong Zhuang Quanxu An Yan Bai Jiahong Shangguan Jinying Zhang Gaofeng Liang Deliang Shen 2023Bioactive Materials2023,,5:0
