| 4 | Adsorption of Cd(Ⅱ) from acidic aqueous solutions by tourmaline as a novel material显示文摘Batch experiments were conducted to investigate the behavior and mechanisms for the adsorption of Cd(Ⅱ) from aqueous solutions by tourmaline under acidic conditions. The results indicated that the adsorption of Cd(Ⅱ) significantly depend on the adsorption time, temperature, and the initial concentration of the metal ion. Furthermore, tourmaline had a very good adsorption capacity for Cd(Ⅱ) in acidic, neutral and alkaline aqueous solutions. This good adsorption capacity is attributed to the observation that tourmaline can automatically adjust the pH values of acidic (except pH 2.0 and 3.0), neutral or alkaline aqueous solutions to 6.4. Specifically, the removal capacity for Cd(Ⅱ) was higher at strongly acidic pH values (in contrast to industrial wastewater pH values) compared to that obtained for other types of adsorbents. Furthermore, the results obtained in this study showed good fits to the Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms. However, the Langmuir model fit better than the Freundlich model. The maximum uptake of Cd(Ⅱ) by tourmaline was 31.77, 33.11 and 40.16 mg/g at pH 4.0 at 15, 25 and 35°C, respectively. Therefore, tourmaline is an effective adsorbent for the removal of Cd(Ⅱ) from acidic aqueous solutions. In addition, the kinetics for the Cd(Ⅱ) adsorption by tourmaline closely followed the pseudo-second-order model. The thermodynamic parameters indicated that adsorption was feasible, spontaneous, and endothermic. Furthermore, the pH variation after adsorption, ζ-potential, metal ions desorbed and released, and FT-IR analysis indicated that the physisorption and chemisorption mechanisms of tourmaline for heavy metals. These mechanisms included water that was automatically polarized by tourmaline, the ion exchange process, and electropolar adsorption. | 5 | Evolutionary analysis of allotetraploid hybrids of red crucian carp×common carp,based on ISSR,AFLP molecular markers and cloning of cyclins genes显示文摘The allotetraploid hybrids of red crucian carp × common carp are the first reported artificially cultured polyploid fish with bisexual fertility and stable inheritance in vertebrate. Using ISSR and AFLP markers and the cyclins genes, the genomes and cyclin gene sequence changes were analyzed between the allotetraploid hybrids and their parents. The results indicated that the allotetraploids inherited many genetic characteristics from their parents and the genetic characteristics were stable after 15 generations. However, the allotetraploids had a closer genetic relationship with their original female parents and represented a bias toward the maternal progenitor. DNA fingerprinting analysis showed that the allotetraploids had undergone sequences deletion from their original parents and that the deleted sequences were mostly from the male parent's genome. Some non-parental bands were found in the allotetraploid hybrids. Sequences analysis of the cyclin A1 and B1 genes showed nonsynonymous substitutions of single nucleotides in codons that were different from their original parents, leading to non-parental amino acid loci. | 6 | Characterization of bacterial community dynamics in a full-scale drinking water treatment plant显示文摘Understanding the spatial and temporal dynamics of microbial communities in drinking water systems is vital to securing the microbial safety of drinking water.The objective of this study was to comprehensively characterize the dynamics of microbial biomass and bacterial communities at each step of a full-scale drinking water treatment plant in Beijing,China.Both bulk water and biofilm samples on granular activated carbon(GAC) were collected over 9 months.The proportion of cultivable cells decreased during the treatment processes,and this proportion was higher in warm season than cool season,suggesting that treatment processes and water temperature probably had considerable impact on the R2 A cultivability of total bacteria.16 s rRNA gene based 454 pyrosequencing analysis of the bacterial community revealed that Proteobacteria predominated in all samples.The GAC biofilm harbored a distinct population with a much higher relative abundance of Acidobactena than water samples.Principle coordinate analysis and one-way analysis of similarity indicated that the dynamics of the microbial communities in bulk water and biofilm samples were better explained by the treatment processes rather than by sampling time,and distinctive changes of the microbial communities in water occurred after GAC filtration.Furthermore,20 distinct OTUs contributing most to the dissimilarity among samples of different sampling locations and 6 persistent OTUs present in the entire treatment process flow were identified.Overall,our findings demonstrate the significant effects that treatment processes have on the microbial biomass and community fluctuation and provide implications for further targeted investigation on particular bacteria populations. | Cuiping Li Fangqiong Ling Minglu Zhang Wen-Tso Liu Yuxian Li Wenjun Liu | 2017 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2017,29,1: | 5 |

| 9 | Effect of Astragalus on the Endothelin in Rats with AcuteLung Injury显示文摘The effect of astragalus on the endothelin in serum and lung of the rats with acute lung injury was studied. The results demonstrated that the concentration of endothelin in the lung of the rats in therapy group was lower than that of the injured rats (64.36±5.37 ng/L vs 103.32±4.99 ng/L, P <0.001), and level of serum endothelin was also lower than that of the injured rats (85.35 ng/L vs 113.35 ng/L, P <0.01). PaO 2, serum SOD, lung coefficient, ratio of lung wet weight/dry weight in two groups were also significantly different ( P <0.01) respectively, and the lung pathological injury in the treatment group were less than that of injury group. | 15 | Shugan Huoxue Huayu Fang(疏肝活血化瘀方)attenuates carbon tetrachloride-induced hepatic fibrosis in rats by inhibiting transforming growth factor-β1/Smad signaling显示文摘OBJECTIVE:To investigate the potential mechanism by which Shugan Huoxue Huayu Fang(疏肝活血化瘀方,SGHXHYF)ameliorates liver fibrosis.METHODS:Liver fibrosis was induced in rats by intraperitoneal injection of carbon tetrachloride(CCl_(4))in peanut oil solution(40%,3 m L/kg body weight)twice a week for 8 weeks.A normal control group received the same volume of peanut oil alone.During weeks 5-8,the CCl_(4)-injected rat groups were administered saline(vehicle control),colchicine(0.1 mg/mL,1 mg/kg,positive control),or SGHXHYF(0.1 mg/mL;0.3,0.6 and 1.2 mg/kg)once daily by oral gavage.Rats were sacrificed 24 h after the last treatment.Blood samples were collected for measurement of serum alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alkaline phosphatase(ALP),albumin(ALB),collagenⅠ,and collagenⅢlevels.Liver samples were analyzed by histopathological staining,Masson's staining of extracellular matrix proteins,and immune-ohistochemical staining ofα-smooth muscle actin(α-SMA).TGF-β1/Smad protein and mRNA levels were analyzed by Western blot and quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction analysis,respectively.In vitro experiments were also performed using rat hepatic stellate cells(HSCs).RESULTS:Compared with the control animals,CCl_(4)-exposed rats exhibited elevated serum levels of ALT,AST,ALP,collagenⅠ,and collagenⅢ;reduced serum levels of ALB;and increased collagen deposition andα-SMA expression in liver sections,reflecting liver fibrosis.CCl_(4) also increased expression of TGF-β1 and the activated(phosphorylated)forms of Smad2 and Smad3 but reduced expression of the negative regulator Smad7 in the liver.Notably,concomitant administration of SGHXHYF to CCl_(4)-exposed rats was found to significantly reverse or abolish the pro-fibrotic effects of CCl_(4) in the liver and reduced serum transferase levels.Analysis of HSCs in vitro confirmed that,mechanistically,SGHXHYF inhibited activation of the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway by downregulating phosphorylated Smad2 and Smad3 and upregulating Smad7 levels.CONCLUSION:SGHXHYF ameliorated CCl_(4)-induced liver fibrosis by inhibiting the TGF-β1/Smad signaling pathway.These findings suggest that SGHXHYF may have clinical utility for the treatment or prevention of liver fibrosis. | LIU Lei GUO Hanbin SHAO Cuiping WANG Lin XU Youqing ZHOU Yiming | 2022 | Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine2022,42,1: | 2 |
| 16 | Biocompatible, small-sized and well-dispersed gold nanoparticles regulated by silk fibroin fiber from Bombyx mori cocoons显示文摘Biocompatible, small-sized but well-dispersed gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) remain a major challenge for their synthesis. Here a convenient solution impregnation technique is developed to prepare such Au NPs under the regulation of degummed silk fibroin fibers (SFFs) extracted from Bombyx mori cocoons. SFFs play multiple roles in the formation of Au NPs such as reactive substrate to capture AuCl4^- ions by the chelation of -C = 0, reducing agent for Au(0) by the reduction of -OH , and modifiers to render biocompatible Au NPs by some functional groups and biomolecules. The as-prepared Au NPs with a size of 7-10 nm are embedded in the solid SFF substrate, and can disperse well in the liquid system by the disintegration of SFFs into silk fibroin (SF) in a certain CaCl2 solution. | 17 | Role ofβ(FeA1)nanoparticles in abnormal grain growth in the annealing of cast Cu-Al-Mn-Fe shape memory alloys显示文摘In this study,the low-cost production of Cu-AI-Mn-Fe shape memory alloy single crystals exceeding 46 mm by abnormal grain growth was realized only through annealing their cast alloys.The results show that the mis-orientation formed during annealing may be responsible for such abnormal grain growth process.It was con-firmed that this misorientation resulted from the dissolution of bec B(FeAI)nanoparticles during heat treatment at a sufficiently temperature of approximately 1173 K.The rate of migration of the abnormal grain boundary was experimentally measured to be approximately9.3 x 10^-m s^-1within 2 min of the commencement of abnormal grain growth.Additionally,the range of composition of the alloys that can lead to abnormal grain growth was determined.When the Cu-13.0AI-6.5Mn-3.2Fe single crystal close to the[100]direction was deformed to a pre-strain of 12%,full shape recovery happened without any residual strain.At that time,the superelastic strain was approximately 9%.Such a superelastic characteristic remained nearly constant over 50 cycles,showing excellent fatigue resistance.The superelastic properties of the present Cu-13.0AI-6.5Mn-3.2Fe single crystal are compared to those of commercial Ni-Ti-based shape memory alloys.Therefore,it can be considered as a new kind of superelastic material having practical applications.The obtained results should be of great significance in the development of Cu based shape memory alloys.Furthermore,it is expected that a similar microstructure can be designed for the production of more metallic single crystals. | Shuiyuan Yang Xinyu Qing Jixun Zhang Lipeng Guo Shen Hong Mingpei Li Jinbin Zhang Cuiping Wang Xingjun Liu | 2020 | Progress in Natural Science:Materials International2020,30,4: | 2 |

| 19 | Wendan decoction improves learning and memory deficits in a rat model of schizophrenia显示文摘An experimental model of schizophrenia was established using dizocilpine (MK-801). Rats were intragastrically administered with Wendan decoction or clozapine for 21 days prior to establishing the model. The results revealed that the latency of schizophrenia model rats to escape from the hidden platform in the Morris water maze was significantly shortened after administration of Wendan decoction or clozapine. In addition, the treated rats crossed the platform significantly more times than the untreated model rats. Moreover, the rate of successful long-term potentiation induction in the Wendan decoction group and clozapine group were also obviously increased compared with the model group, and the population spike peak latency was significantly shortened. | 20 | Biodegradation of pyrene by Phanerochaete chrysosporium and enzyme activities in soils:Effect of SOM,sterilization and aging显示文摘The impacts of soil organic matter(SOM), aging and sterilization on the production of lignin peroxidase(LiP) and manganese peroxidase(MnP) by Phanerochaete chrysosporium during the biodegradation of pyrene in soils were investigated. The biodegradation of pyrene by P. chrysosporium decreased with increasing SOM content, whereas the maximum activities of LiP and MnP increased, which indicates that SOM outweighed pyrene in controlling enzyme production. Sterilization enhanced the degradation of pyrene due to the elimination of competition from indigenous microbes, whereas aging led to a reduction in the degradation of pyrene primarily through changes in its sorbed forms. Both sterilization and aging could reduce SOM content and alter its structure, which also influenced the bioavailability of pyrene and the enzyme activity. The sterilization and aging processes caused changes in the degradation of pyrene, and the enzyme activities were greater in soils with high SOM contents.
