| 1 | Salicylic Acid and its Function in Plant Immunity显示文摘The small phenolic compound salicylic acid(SA) plays an important regulatory role in multiple physiological processes including plant im-mune response.Significant progress has been made during the past two decades in understanding the SA-mediated defense signaling network.Characterization of a number of genes functioning in SA biosynthesis,conjugation,accumulation,signaling,and crosstalk with other hormones such as jasmonic acid,ethylene,abscisic acid,auxin,gibberellic acid,cytokinin,brassinosteroid,and peptide hormones has sketched the finely tuned immune response network.Full understanding of the mech-anism of plant immunity will need to take advantage of fast developing genomics tools and bioinformatics techniques.However,elucidating genetic components involved in these pathways by conventional ge-netics,biochemistry,and molecular biology approaches will continue to be a major task of the community.High-throughput method for SA quantification holds the potential for isolating additional mutants related to SA-mediated defense signaling. | Chuanfu An Zhonglin Mou | 2011 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2011,53,6: | 53 |
| 2 | COMPUTER MODEL OF COPPER SMELTING PROCESS AND DISTRIBUTION BEHAVIORS OF ACCESSORY ELEMENTS显示文摘A computer model has been developed to simulate the distribution behaviors of Ni, Co. Sn. Ph,Zn, As, Sb, Bi, An and Ag in copper smelting process. The model assumes that the copper smelting furnaceis in thermodynamic equilibrium. As many as 21 elements (Cu. S, Fe. Ni, Co. Sn, As, Sb. Bi, Ph. Zn.An. Ag. O, N, C, H, Ca, Mg, Al, and St) and 73 compounds are considered. This model accounts forphysical entrainment in the melts. The predictions by the present computer model are compared with theknown commercial data from Guixi Smelter in China, Home Smelter in Canada and Naoshima Smelter inJapan. The agreements between the computer predictions and the commercial data are excellent, so that thepresent computer model can be used to monitor and optimize the actual industrial operations of copper smelting. | 4 | Advanced treatment of wet-spun acrylic fiber manufacturing wastewater using three-dimensional electrochemical oxidation显示文摘A three-dimensional electrochemical oxidation(3D-EC) reactor with introduction of activated carbon(AC) as particle micro-electrodes was applied for the advanced treatment of secondary wastewater effluent of a wet-spun acrylic fiber manufacturing plant. Under the optimized conditions(current density of 500 A/m^2, circulation rate of 5 mL/min, AC dosage of 50 g, and chloride concentration of 1.0 g/L), the average removal efficiencies of chemical oxygen demand(COD_(cr)), NH3–N, total organic carbon(TOC), and ultraviolet absorption at 254 nm(UV_(254)) of the 3D-EC reactor were 64.5%, 60.8%, 46.4%, and 64.8%, respectively; while the corresponding effluent concentrations of COD_(cr), NH_3–N, TOC, and UV_(254) were 76.6, 20.1, and42.5 mg/L, and 0.08 Abs/cm, respectively. The effluent concentration of COD_(cr) was less than 100 mg/L, which showed that the treated wastewater satisfied the demand of the integrated wastewater discharge standard(GB 8978-1996). The 3D-EC process remarkably improved the treatment efficiencies with synergistic effects for COD_(cr), NH_3–N, TOC, and UV_(254) during the stable stage of 44.5%, 38.8%, 27.2%, and 10.9%, respectively, as compared with the sum of the efficiencies of a two-dimensional electrochemical oxidation(2D-EC) reactor and an AC adsorption process, which was ascribed to the numerous micro-electrodes of AC in the 3D-EC reactor. The addition of Na2SO3 into the solution can accelerate anodic dissolution of gold. The factors affecting selective dissolution of gold in the alkaline thiourea solution by electrolysis have been studied, and the optimum condition was obtained. | 8 | Modeling the impact of the viaduct on particles dispersion from vehicle exhaust in street canyons显示文摘In this paper,the impact of the viaduct on flow and traffic exhausting particles dispersion within urban street canyons was nu-merically simulated using a computational fluid dynamics(CFD) model.Two-dimensional flow and dispersion of particles from traffic exhausts were modeled using the standard k-? turbulence model.The street canyons with a viaduct at different widths and different heights above the ground are simulated.The results show that the airflow in street canyon is evidently in-fluenced by the viaduct:The position of the main vortex center is changed,especially there are two strong vortexes when the viaduct is placed at 10 m height above the ground.It is found based on the study of the particles number concentrations(PNCs) that the viaduct may mitigate the pollution level in the street canyon sometimes.The impact of the viaduct width on PNCs is stronger than that of the height.The study of PNDs reveals that the mean PNCs at the wall of upwind building increase when a viaduct is placed in street canyon.In addition,it is found based on the study of mean particles residence time(PRT) that the removal of the particles strongly correlates to the mean PNCs.The results indicate that the viaduct is an important factor to in-fluence the flow patterns and particles dispersion in street canyons. | ZHANG ChuanFu WEN Mou ZENG JianRong ZHANG GuiLin FANG HaiPing LI Yan | 2012 | Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,1: | 5 |
| 9 | Acupuncture inhibits cue-induced heroin craving and brain activation显示文摘Previous research using functional MRI has shown that specific brain regions associated with drug dependence and cue-elicited heroin craving are activated by environmental cues. Craving is an important trigger of heroin relapse, and acupuncture may inhibit craving. In this study, we performed functional MRI in heroin addicts and control subjects. We compared differences in brain activation between the two groups during heroin cue exposure, heroin cue exposure plus acupuncture at the Zusanli point (ST36) without twirling of the needle, and heroin cue exposure plus acupuncture at the Zusanli point with twirling of the needle. Heroin cue exposure elicited significant activation in craving-related brain regions mainly in the frontal lobes and callosal gyri. Acupuncture without twirling did not significantly affect the range of brain activation induced by heroin cue exposure, but significantly changed the extent of the activation in the heroin addicts group. Acupuncture at the Zusanli point with twirling of the needle significantly decreased both the range and extent of activation induced by heroin cue exposure compared with heroin cue exposure plus acupuncture without twirling of the needle. These experimental findings indicate that presentation of heroin cues can induce activation in craving-related brain regions, which are involved in reward, learning and memory, cognition and emotion. | 10 | Infuence of Substrate Temperature on Stress and Morphology Characteristics of Co Doped ZnO Films Prepared by Laser-Molecular Beam Epitaxy显示文摘Zn1exCox O(x 0.05) thin films are deposited on sapphire(0001) substrates by laser-molecular beam epitaxy technique at different substrate temperatures. The structural, stress and morphology evolution features are investigated by means of X-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy. The surface parameters of roughness exponent a, root mean square(RMS) roughness w and autocorrelation length x are calculated and the surface parameters are preliminarily analyzed. The values of a vary from 0.7 to 0.9. The RMS roughness w is less than 2.2 nm, and it increases with increasing T s from 300 to 400 C, and then decreases when T s is 500 C. | 12 | Pilot-scale experiments on multilevel contact oxidation treatment of poultry farm wastewater using saran lock carriers under different operation model显示文摘A pilot-scale multilevel contact oxidation reactors system, coupled with saran lock carriers,was applied for the treatment of poultry farm wastewater. The removal efficiencies of CODcr, ammonia, and the total nitrogen as well as the elimination performance of CODcr and total nitrogen along the three-level contact oxidation tanks under six designed operational models were investigated. Based on the performance of the nitrogen removal of the saran lock carriers and the distribution of anoxic–aerobic interspace under the suitable operation model, the mechanism of nitrogen removal of the system was also explored. The results revealed that the intermittent aeration under parallel model is the most suitable operation model, while the removal efficiencies of CODcr, ammonia, and the total nitrogen were 86.86%, 84.04%, and 80.96%, respectively. The effluent concentration of CODcr,ammonia, and the total nitrogen were 55.6 mg/L, 8.3 mg/L, and 12.0 mg/L, which satisfy both the discharge standard of pollutants for livestock and poultry breeding industry(GB18596–2001) and the first grade of the integrated wastewater discharge standard(GB 8978–1996). Moreover, the mechanism for the nitrogen removal should be attributed to the plenty of anoxic–aerobic interspaces of the biofilm and the three-dimensional spiral structure of the saran lock carriers, where the oxygen-deficient distribution was suitable for the happening of the simultaneous nitrification and denitrification process. | 14 | Research on Thermal Deep-drawing Technology of Magnesium Alloy (AZ31B) Sheets显示文摘Forming technology of Mg alloy (AZ31B) sheets can be investigated by thermal deep drawing experiments. In the experiments,the blank holder and die contacting with the blank were heated to the same temperature as the blank by using the heating facility. The circular blank heated in an oven is formed at a temperature range of 100~400℃ to obtain the optimum forming temperature range and the effects of major technical parameters on the workpiece quality. It is found that the blank is brittle at temperatures lower than 200℃. Temperatures higher than 400℃ are not suitable for forming of the sheets because of severe oxidation and wrinkling. AZ31B shows an excellent formability at temperatures from 300 to 350℃ and can be formed into a workpiece with good quality. When the blank holder force is 99 Kn, extruded sheets with a thickness of 1 mm can be formed into cups without wrinkling. | 15 | Structures and properties of functional metal iodates显示文摘Metal iodates with a lone-pair containing I(V) that is in an asymmetric coordination geometry can form a diversity of unusual structures and many of them are promising new second homonic generation (SHG) materials. They exhibit wide transparency wavelength regions, large SHG coefficients and high optical-damage thresholds as well as moderately high thermal stability. In this paper, the structures and properties of the metal iodates are reviewed. The combination of d0 transition-metal cations with the iodate groups afforded a large number of metal iodates, with cations covering alkali metal, alkaline earth and lanthanide elements. Many of them are noncentrosymmetric (NCS) and display excellent SHG properties due to the additive effects of polarizations from both types of the asymmetric units. Some lanthanide iodates are able to emit strong luminescence in the visible or near-IR regions. The use of transition metal ions with dn (n ≠ 0) electronic configuration into iodate systems can also induce the formation of NCS compounds when the lone pairs of the iodate groups are properly aligned. The dn transition metal cations are normally octahedrally coordinated or in a square-planar coordination geometry.
