On Reliability-optimized Controller Placement for Software-Defined Networks显示文摘By decoupling control plane and data plane,Software-Defined Networking(SDN) approach simplifies network management and speeds up network innovations. These benefits have led not only to prototypes, but also real SDN deployments. For wide-area SDN deployments, multiple controllers are often required, and the placement of these controllers becomes a particularly important task in the SDN context. This paper studies the problem of placing controllers in SDNs,so as to maximize the reliability of SDN control networks. We present a novel metric, called expected percentage of control path loss,to characterize the reliability of SDN control networks. We formulate the reliability-aware control placement problem, prove its NP-hardness,and examine several placement algorithms that can solve this problem.Through extensive simulations using real topologies,we show how the number of controllers and their placement influence the reliability of SDN control networks.Besides,we also found that, through strategic controller placement, the reliability of SDN control networks can be significantly improved without introducing unacceptable switch-to-controller latencies. | HU Yannan WANG Wendong GONG Xiangyang QUE Xirong CHENG Shiduan | 2014 | China Communications2014,11,2: | 25
Review of the biological and engineering aspects of algae to fuels approach显示文摘Current biofuel production relies on limited arable lands on the earth, and is impossible to meet the biofuel demands.Oil producing algae are alternative biofuel feedstock with potential to meet the world’s ambitious goal to replace fossil fuels. This review provides an overview of the biological and engineering aspects in the production and processing technologies and recent advances in research and development in the algae to fuels approach. The article covers biology, selection and genetic modification of algae species and strains, production systems design, culture media and light management, harvest and dewatering, downstream processing, and environment and economic assessment.Despite the many advances made over several decades, commercialization of algal fuels remains challenging chiefly because of the techno-economic constraints.Technological breakthroughs in all major aspects must take place before commercial production of algal fuels becomes economically viable. | Paul Chen Min Min Yifeng Chen Liang Wang Yecong Li Qin Chen Chenguang Wang Yiqin Wan Xiaoquan Wang Yanling Cheng Shaobo Deng Kevin Hennessy Xiangyang Lin Yuhuan Liu Yingkuan Wang Blanca Martinez Roger Ruan | 2009 | International Journal of Agricultural and Biological Engineering2009,2,4: | 9
Versatile Piriformospora indica and Its Potential Applications in Horticultural Crops显示文摘Modern horticultural crop production systems target the exploitation of sustainable techniques for crop improvement while maintaining balance with the environment. Several beneficial microbes have been investigated and have yielded remarkable results. The endophytic fungus, Piriformospora indica, is one microbe group with the potential to offer numerous benefits and opportunities in modern horticultural crop production. This plant growth-promoting mycorrhizal fungus is of particular interest due to its beneficial implications in plant growth and development. The fungus has been experimentally proven to significantly improve water and nutrient/mineral absorption, early flowering, seed production/germination and plant photosynthetic capability, growth rates;especially in nutrient-deprived soils, alter the production of secondary metabolites, and promote adaptation, tolerance and/or resistance to biotic and abiotic stressors. Its unique capability to be axenically cultured makes it feasible for research and application. These attributes in combinations with its broad host range, offer immense potential for this fungus for research in horticultural plant improvement. Thus, this review highlights the potential applications of P. indica in horticultural crops research and production. | Raphael Anue Mensah Dan Li Fan Liu Na Tian Xueli Sun Xiangyang Hao Zhongxiong Lai Chunzhen Cheng | 2020 | Horticultural Plant Journal2020,6,2: | 6
The Medium Energy X-ray telescope (ME) onboard the Insight-HXMT astronomy satellite显示文摘The Medium Energy X-ray telescope(ME) is one of the three main telescopes on board the Insight hard X-ray modulation telescope(Insight-HXMT) astronomy satellite. ME contains 1728 pixels of Si-PIN detectors sensitive in 5-30 ke V with a total geometrical area of 952 cm^2. The application specific integrated circuit(ASIC) chip, VA32TA6, is used to achieve low power consumption and low readout noise. The collimators define three kinds of field of views(FOVs) for the telescope, 1°×4°, 4°×4°,and blocked ones. Combination of such FOVs can be used to estimate the in-orbit X-ray and particle background components. The energy resolution of ME is ~3 ke V at 17.8 ke V(FWHM) and the time resolution is 255 μs. In this paper, we introduce the design and performance of ME. | XueLei Cao WeiChun Jiang Bin Meng WanChang Zhang Tao Luo Sheng Yang ChunLei Zhang YuDong Gu Liang Sun XiaoJing Liu JiaWei Yang Xian Li Ying Tan ShaoZhen Liu YuanYuan Du FangJun Lu YuPeng Xu Ju Guan ShuangNan Zhang HuanYu Wang TiPei Li ChengMo Zhang XiangYang Wen JinLu Qu LiMing Song XiaoBo Li MingYu Ge YuPeng Zhou ShaoLin Xiong Shu Zhang YongJie Zhang ZeHao Cheng Fei Zhang MaoShun Li XiaoHua Liang Min Gao EnBo Yang XiaoHang Liu HongWei Liu YiJung Yang Fan Zhang | 2020 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2020,63,4: | 5
A Robust Gaussian Mixture Model for Mobile Robots’ Vision-based Pose Estimation显示文摘In dynamic environments, the moving landmarks can make the accuracy of traditional vision-based pose estimation worse or even failure. To solve this problem, a robust Gaussian mixture model for vision-based pose estimation is proposed. The motion index is added to the traditional graph-based vision-based pose estimation model to describe landmarks’ moving probability, transforming the classic Gaussian model to Gaussian mixture model, which can reduce the influence of moving landmarks for optimization results. To improve the algorithm’s robustness to noise, the covariance inflation model is employed in residual equations. The expectation maximization method for solving the Gaussian mixture problem is derived in detail, transforming the problem into classic iterative least square problem. Experimental results demonstrate that in dynamic environments, the proposed method outperforms the traditional method both in absolute accuracy and relative accuracy, while maintains high accuracy in static environments. The proposed method can effectively reduce the influence of the moving landmarks in dynamic environments, which is more suitable for the autonomous localization of mobile robots. | Chuanqi CHENG Xiangyang HAO Jiansheng LI Peng HU Xu ZHANG | 2019 | Journal of Geodesy and Geoinformation Science2019,2,3: | 4
Structural basis for bivalent binding and inhibition of SARS-CoV-2 infection by human potent neutralizing antibodies显示文摘Neutralizing monoclonal antibodies(nAbs)to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2)represent promising candidates for clinical intervention against coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19).We isolated a large number of nAbs from SARS-CoV-2-infected individuals capable of disrupting proper interaction between the receptor binding domain(RBD)of the viral spike(S)protein and the receptor angiotensin converting enzyme 2(ACE2).However,the structural basis for their potent neutralizing activity remains unclear. Here,we report cryo-EM structures of the ten most potent nAbs in their native full-length IgG-form or in both IgG-form and Fab-form bound to the trimeric S protein of SARS-CoV-2.The bivalent binding of the full-length IgG is found to associate with more RBDs in the“up”conformation than the monovalent binding of Fab,perhaps contributing to the enhanced neutralizing activity of IgG and triggering more shedding of the S1 subunit from the S protein.Comparison of a large number of nAbs identified common and unique structural features associated with their potent neutralizing activities. This work provides a structural basis for further understanding the mechanism of nAbs,especially through revealing the bivalent binding and its correlation with more potent neutralization and the shedding of S1 subunit. | Renhong Yan Ruoke Wang Bin Ju Jinfang Yu Yuanyuan Zhang Nan Liu Jia Wang Qi Zhang Peng Chen Bing Zhou Yaning Li Yaping Shen Shuyuan Zhang Long Tian Yingying Guo Lu Xia Xinyue Zhong Lin Cheng Xiangyang Ge Juanjuan Zhao Hong-Wei Wang Xinquan Wang Zheng Zhang Linqi Zhang Qiang Zhou | 2021 | Cell Research2021,31,5: | 4
Cancer-associated adipocyte-derived G-CSF promotes breast cancer malignancy via Stat3 signaling显示文摘Adipocyte is the most predominant cell type in the tumor microenvironment of breast cancer and plays a pivotal role in cancer progression, yet the underlying mechanisms and functional mediators remain elusive. We isolated primary preadipocytes from mammary fat pads of human breast cancer patients and generated mature adipocytes and cancer-associated adipocytes(CAAs)in vitro. The CAAs exhibited significantly different gene expression profiles as assessed by transcriptome sequencing. One of the highly expressed genes in CAAs is granulocyte colony-stimulating factor(G-CSF).Treatment with recombinant human G-CSF protein or stable expression of human G-CSF in triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC)cell lines enhanced epithelial–mesenchymal transition, migration, and invasion of cancer cells,by activating Stat3.Accordantly,targeting G-CSF/Stat3 signaling with G-CSF-neutralizing antibody,a chemical inhibitor,or siRNAs for Stat3 could all abrogate CAA-or G-CSF-induced migration and invasion of breast cancer cells. The pro-invasive genes MMP2 and MMP9 were identified as target genes of G-CSF in TNBC cells.Furthermore,in human breast cancer tissues, elevated G-CSF expression in adipocytes is well correlated with activated Stat3 signal in cancer cells.Together, our results suggest a novel strategy to intervene with invasive breast cancers by targeting CAA-derived G-CSF. | Li Liu Yudong Wu Cheng Zhang Chong Zhou Yining Li Yi Zeng Chunbo Zhang Rong Li Daya Luo Lieliang Wang Long Zhang Shuo Tu Huan Deng Shiwen Luo Ye-Guang Chen Xiangyang Xiong Xiaohua Yan | 2020 | Journal of Molecular Cell Biology2020,12,9: | 4
Differential transcriptome analysis between Populus and its synthesized allotriploids driven by second-division restitution显示文摘In this report, we compared transcriptomic differences between a synthetic Populus section Tacamahaca triploid driven by second-division restitution and its parents using a high-throughput RNA-seq method. A total of 4,080 genes were differentially expressed between the high-growth vigor allotriploids(SDR-H) and their parents, and 719 genes were non-additively expressed in SDR-H. Differences in gene expression between the allotriploid and male parent were more signi ficant than those between the allotriploid and female parent, which may be caused by maternal effects. We observed3,559 differentially expressed genes(DEGs) between the SDR-H and male parent. Notably, the genes were mainly involved in metabolic process, cell proliferation, DNA methylation, cell division, and meristem and developmental growth. Among the1,056 DEGs between SDR-H and female parent, many genes were associated with metabolic process and carbon utilization. In addition, 1,789 DEGs between high- and low-growth vigor allotriploid were mainly associated with metabolic process, auxin poplar transport, and regulation of meristem growth. Our results indicated that the higher poplar ploidy level can generate extensive transcriptomic diversity compared with its parents. Overall, these results increased our understanding of the driving force for phenotypic variation and adaptation in allopolyploids driven by second-division restitution. | Shiping Cheng Zhen Huang Yun Li Ting Liao Yujing Suo Pingdong Zhang Jun Wang Xiangyang Kang | 2015 | Journal of Integrative Plant Biology2015,57,12: | 3
The role of γ-aminobutyric acid in aluminum stress tolerance in a woody plant, Liriodendron chinense×tulipifera显示文摘The aluminum(Al)cation Al^(3+)in acidic soil shows severe rhizotoxicity that inhibits plant growth and development. Most woody plants adapted to acidic soils have evolved specific strategies against Al^(3+)toxicity,but the underlying mechanism remains elusive. The four-carbon amino acid gamma-aminobutyric acid(GABA)has been well studied in mammals as an inhibitory neurotransmitter;GABA also controls many physiological responses during environmental or biotic stress. The woody plant hybrid Liriodendron(L.chinense×tulipifera)is widely cultivated in China as a horticultural tree and provides high-quality timber;studying its adaptation to high Al stress is important for harnessing its ecological and economic potential. Here,we performed quantitative iTRAQ(isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification)to study how protein expression is altered in hybrid Liriodendron leaves subjected to Al stress.Hybrid Liriodendron shows differential accumulation of several proteins related to cell wall biosynthesis, sugar and proline metabolism, antioxidant activity, cell autophagy, protein ubiquitination degradation, and anion transport in response to Al damage. We observed that Al stress upregulated glutamate decarboxylase(GAD)and its activity, leading to increased GABA biosynthesis.Additional GABA synergistically increased Al-induced antioxidant enzyme activity to efficiently scavenge ROS,enhanced proline biosynthesis, and upregulated the expression of MATE1/2,which subsequently promoted the efflux of citrate for chelation of Al^(3+).We also showed similar effects of GABA on enhanced Al^(3+)tolerance in Arabidopsis. Thus, our findings suggest a function of GABA signaling in enhancing hybrid Liriodendron tolerance to Al stress through promoting organic acid transport and sustaining the cellular redox and osmotic balance. | Pengkai Wang Yini Dong Liming Zhu Zhaodong Hao LingFeng Hu Xiangyang Hu Guibin Wang Tielong Cheng Jisen Shi Jinhui Chen | 2021 | Horticulture Research2021,8,1: | 3
Design of a cross-dipole array acoustic logging tool显示文摘When entering an anisotropic formation,a shear wave splits into a fast wave and a slow wave. Based on the principle of four-component cross-dipole acoustic wave measurement, the anisotropy of HTI(Horizontal Transverse Isotropy)formation can be determined. The method of calculating the fast and slow wave data when a shear wave propagates along the borehole axis in anisotropic formation was analyzed, and the implementation of a cross-dipole acoustic logging tool was demonstrated. The tool was composed of transmitter electronics, transmitter mandrel, acoustic isolator, receiver mandrel and main control electronics.Sonde, transmitter circuit, signal receiving and processing circuit, data acquisition system, system control circuit and telemetry interface circuit were presented and analyzed. The test model was used in production wells and standard wells in various areas and the four-component cross-dipole waves were acquired and processed. The waves had good signal-to-noise ratio and clear characteristics, and the fast and slow waveforms, processed slowness curves, anisotropy and fast shear wave azimuth well matched with each other. | Lu Junqiang Ju Xiaodong Cheng Xiangyang | 2008 | Petroleum Science2008,5,2: | 2
Effects of dietary cottonseed meal protein hydrolysate on growth, antioxidants and immunity of Chinese mitten crab Eriocheir Sinensis显示文摘One hundred and sixty crabs(average initial weight:51.32±0.08 g)were fed with four experimental diets containing cottonseed meal protein hydrolysate(CPH)at 0%(CPH0,control),0.3%(CPH0.3),0.6%(CPH0.6),and 1.2%CPH(CPH1.2).The experiment results show that no difference was observed in specific growth rate and survival rate of crabs fed with CPH diet.Moisture content of crabs fed with CPH0.6 diet was significantly reduced than that of the CPH0 group.Superoxide dismutase and catalase activities of crabs fed with CPH0.6 diet were significantly increased and the difference was not significant between the CPH0.3 and CPH0.6 groups.Malondialdehyde content of CPH0.3 group was significantly lower than that of the CPH0 group.Lysozyme, alkaline phosphatase, and acid phosphatase activities of CPH0.3 diet crabs were significantly higher than that of the CPH0 group.Glutamic-pyruvic transaminase activity of crabs fed with CPH0.3 diet was significantly decreased compared to the CPH0 group. The relative expression levels of Toll1,Toll2,MyD88,LITAF,and ILF-2 of crabs fed with CPH0.3 diet were significantly higher than that of the CPH0 group. The expression level of SOCS2 showed an opposite pattern. After CPH perfusion, the expression levels of SOCS2 and Toll1 in intestine at time 3 h and SOCS2 in hepatopancreas at time 18 h increased significantly to the highest value. The expression level of Toll2,MyD88,LITAF,decreased at times 6 h,6 h,12 h,respectively, then increased gradually. Therefore, supplementation of dietary CPH could improve antioxidant capacity and immune function;the appropriate supplement dosage of CPH for crab could be 0.3%-0.6%.Furthermore,the short-term CPH stimulation could significantly increase or decline the expression levels of immune-related genes at different times after CPH perfusion. | CHENG Huihui LIU Wenbin YUAN Xiangyang JIA Erteng ZHANG Dingdong JIANG Guangzhen | 2020 | Journal of Oceanology and Limnology2020,38,3: | 2
KLF2 inhibits TGF-β-mediated cancer cell motility in hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘Feedback regulation plays a pivotal role in determining the intensity and duration of TGF-p signaling and subsequently affecting the pathophysiological roles of TGF-p,including those in liver malignancy.KLF2,a member of the Kruppel-like factor(KLF)fam ily transcription factors, has been implicated in impeding hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)development. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms are not fully understood. In the present study,we found that TGF-p stimulates the expression of KLF2 gene in several HCC cell lines.KLF2 protein is able to inhibit TGF-p/Smad signaling in HCC cells as assessed by luciferase reporter assay.Further studies indicated that KLF2 inhibits the transcriptional activity of Smad2/3 and Smad4 and ameliorates TGF-p-induced target gene expression, therefore creating a novel negative feedback loop in TGFp signaling.Functionally, stably expression of KLF2 in HCCLM3 cells attenuated TGF-卜induced cancer cell motility in wound-healing and transwell assays by interfering with TGF-p-mediated upregulation of MMP2.Together,our results revealed that KLF2 protein has a tumor-suppressive function in HCC through a negative feedback loop over TGF-p signaling. | Yining Li Shuo Tu Yi Zeng Cheng Zhang Tian Deng Weicheng Luo Lingyan Lian Ling Chen Xiangyang Xiong Xiaohua Yan | 2020 | Acta Biochimica et Biophysica Sinica2020,52,5: | 2
Molecular mechanism underlying the subtype-selectivity of competitive inhibitor NF110 and its distinct potencies in human and rat P2X3 receptors显示文摘P2X receptors are a family of extracellular ATP-gated trimeric cation channels that is widely distributed in human tissues. Quite some drug candidates targeting P2X receptors have entered into preclinical or main phases of clinical trials, but many of them failed due to low subtype-selectivity or species differences in pharmacological activities between human and experimental animals. Here, we identified the distinct inhibitory efficacies of NF110, a competitive inhibitor, between the rat(rP2X3) and human(hP2X3) P2X3 receptors. We demonstrated that this difference is determined by two amino acids located in the dorsal fin(DF) domain of P2X3 receptors. As revealed by mutagenesis, metadynamics, and covalent modification, NF110-mediated rP2X3 inhibition may be through a filling in the cavity formed by the DF,left flipper(LF) and lower body(LB) to partially, rather than fully, occupy the ATP-binding pocket. Moreover, substitution of residues located in the DF and/or LF domains of the rP2X2 receptor, a NF110-insensitive subtype, with the equivalent amino acids of rP2X3, bestowed the sensitivity of rP2X2 to NF110. The critical roles of the DF and LF domains in channel gating of P2X and low conservativity in residue sequences of those two domains raise the possibility that small molecules differentially interacting with the residues of the DF and LF domains of different P2X receptors may modulate channel's activity in a subtype-selective manner. However, the possible species-specificity of P2X inhibitors/modulators makes it more complex when interpreting the preclinical data into clinical researches.Nevertheless, our data provide new insights into the subtype-selectivity of competitive inhibitors and their distinct potencies in the human and experimental animals, both of which are extremely important in the drug discovery of P2X receptors. | Bin Li Jin Wang Xiaoyang Cheng Yan Liu Yang Yang Xiaona Yang Changrun Guod Youya Niu Peng Cao Xiangyang Lu Michael X.Zhu Yun Tian Ye Yu | 2018 | Science Bulletin2018,63,24: | 1

Engineering of Reversible Luminescent Probes for Real-Time Intravital Imaging of Liver Injury and Repair显示文摘As the major organ for drug metabolism and detoxification, the liver is prone to damage and severely impaired functionality. The treatment of liver diseases is based on a clear understanding of the process underlying liver injury and repair. However, intravital real-time imaging of liver injury and repair is still limited due to the lack of in vivo reversible visualization methods. To this end,we proposed a rational design strategy for the development of a reversible upconversion luminescence nanoprobe that allows real-time and in vivo imaging of liver injury and repair processes. As a proof of concept,we first developed a small molecule probe NB3 which can reversibly respond to related analytes of early liver injury[peroxynitrite(ONOO−)]and liver repair[glutathione(GSH)].The small molecule probe was then integrated with a core–shell upconversion nanoparticle to form a sophisticated nanoprobe.Compared with traditional small molecule probes, this nanoprobe exhibited a higher selectivity to ONOO−,longer retention time in liver, and wider dynamic response range to GSH after oxidation by ONOO−.The novel nanoprobe facilitated the successful monitoring and discrimination among the different degrees of liver injury and repair in a mouse model. | Xiao Liu Linhui He Xiangyang Gong Yue Yang Dan Cheng Juanjuan Peng Lu Wang Xiao-Bing Zhang Lin Yuan | 2022 | CCS Chemistry2022,4,1: | 1

On the feasibility and efficacy of control traffic protection in software-defined networks显示文摘Software Defined Networking(SDN) is an emerging networking paradigm that assumes a logically centralized control plane separated from the data plane. Despite all its advantages, separating the control and data planes introduces new challenges regarding resilient communications between the two. That is, disconnections between switches and their controllers could result in substantial packet loss and performance degradation. This paper addresses this challenge by studying the issue of control traffic protection in SDNs with arbitrary numbers of controllers. Specifically, we propose a control traffic protection scheme that combines both local rerouting and constrained reverse path forwarding protections, through which switches can locally react to failures and redirect the control traffic using standby backup forwarding options. Our goal is then to find a set of primary routes for control traffic, called protected control network, where as many switches as possible can benefit from the proposed protection scheme. We formulate the protected control network problem, prove its NP-hardness, and develop an algorithm that reconciles protectability and performance(e.g., switch-to-control latency). Through extensive simulations based on real topologies, we show that our approach significantly improves protectability of control traffic. The results should help further the process of deploying SDN in real-world networks. | HU YanNan WANG WenDong GONG XiangYang QUE XiRong CHENG ShiDuan | 2015 | Science China Chemistry2015,58,12: | 1
