| 3 | Genome-wide analysis of heat shock transcription factor families in rice and Arabidopsis显示文摘The heat shock transcription factors (HSFs) are the major heat shock factors regulating the heat stress response. They participate in regulating the expression of heat shock proteins (HSPs), which are critical in the protection against stress damage and many other important biological processes. Study of the HSF gene family is important for understanding the mechanism by which plants respond to stress. The completed genome sequences of rice (Oryza sativa) and Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) constitute a valuable resource for comparative genomic analysis, as they are representatives of the two major evolutionary lineages within the angiosperms: the monocotyledons and the dicotyledons. The identification of phylogenetic relationships among HSF proteins in these species is a fundamental step to unravel the functionality of new and yet uncharacterized genes belonging to this family.In this study, the full complement of HSF genes in rice and Arabidopsis has probably been identified through the genome-wide scan. Phylogenetic analyses resulted in the identification of three major clusters of orthologous genes that contain members belonging to both species, which must have been represented in their common ancestor before the taxonomic splitting of the angiosperms. Further analysis of the phylogenetic tree reveals a possible dicot specific gene group. We also identified nine pairs of paralogs, as evidence for studies on the evolution history of rice HSF family and rice genome evolution. Expression data analysis indicates that HSF proteins are widely expressed in plants. | 7 | Mycoplasma infections and different human carcinomas显示文摘AIM To explore relationships between human carcinomas and mycoplasma infection.METHODS Monoclonal antibody PD4, which specifically recognizes a distinct protein from mycoplasma hyorhinis, was used to detect mycoplasma infection in different paraffinembedded carcinoma tissues with immunohistochemistry. PCR was applied to amplify the mycoplasma DNA from the positive samples for confirming immunohistochemistry.RESULTS Fifty of 90 cases (56%) of gastric carcinoma were positive for mycoplasma hyorhinis. In other gastric diseases, the mycoplasma infection ratio was 28% (18/49) in chronic superficial gastritis, 30% (14/ 46) in gastric ulcer and 37% (18/ 49) in intestinal metaplasia. The difference is significant with gastric cancer (X2=12.06, P<0.05). In colon carcinoma, the mycoplasma infection ratio was 55.1% (32/58), but it was 20.9% (10/49) in adenomarous polyp (X2=13.46, P<0.005).Gastric and colon cancers with high differentiation had a higher mycoplasma infection ratio than those with low differentiation (P< 0.05). Mycoplasma infection in esophageal cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer and glioma was 50.9% (27/53), 52.6% (31/ 59), 39.7%(25/63) and 41% (38/91), respectively. The mycoplasma DNA was successfully amplified with the DNA extracted from the cancer tissues that were positive for mycoplasma infection (detected with antibody PD4).CONCLUSION There was high correlation between mycoplasma infection and different cancers, which suggests the possibility of an association between the two. | 8 | Perioperative transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation for improving postoperative gastrointestinal function:A randomized controlled trial显示文摘Background:Postoperative gastrointestinal dysfunction(PGD)is one of the most common complications in patients undergoing major abdominal surgery.Acupuncture has been used widely in gastrointestinal diseases due to its effectiveness and minimally invasive nature.Objective:This study evaluated the efficacy of using transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation(TEAS)during the surgery and postoperative recovery in patients with gastric and colorectal surgery for improving postoperative gastrointestinal function.Design,setting,participants and interventions:A total of 280 patients undergoing abdominal surgery were stratified by type of surgery(i.e.,gastric or colorectal surgery)and randomly allocated into the TEAS group(group T)or the sham group(group S).Patients in group T received TEAS at LI4,PC6,ST36 and ST37.Patients in group S received pseudo-TEAS at sham acupoints.The stimulation was given from 30 min before anesthesia until the end of surgery.The same treatment was performed at 9 am on the 1st,2nd and 3rd days after surgery,until the recovery of flatus in patients.Main outcome measures:The primary outcome was the time to the first bowel motion,as detected by auscultation.The secondary outcomes included the first flatus and ambulation time,changes of perioperative substance P(SP),incidence of PGD,postoperative pain,postoperative nausea and vomiting(PONV)and some economic indicators.Results:The time to first bowel motion,first flatus and first ambulation in group T was much shorter than that in group S(P<0.01).In patients undergoing colorectal surgery,the concentration of SP was lower in group T than in group S on the third day after the operation(P<0.05).The average incidence of PGD in all patients was 25%,and the frequency of PGD was significantly lower in group T than in group S(18.6%vs.31.4%,respectively;P<0.05).TEAS treatment(odds ratio=0.498;95%confidence interval:0.232–0.786)and type of surgery were relevant factors for the development of PGD.Postoperative pain score and PONV occurrence were significantly lower in group T(P<0.01).Postoperative hospitalization days and the resulting cost to patients were greatly reduced in the TEAS group(P<0.01).Conclusion:Perioperative TEAS was able to promote the recovery of postoperative gastrointestinal function,reduce the incidence of PGD and PONV.The concentration of SP was decreased by TEAS treatment,which indicates that the brain-gut axis may play a role in how TEAS regulates gastrointestinal function.Trial registration:Chinese Clinical Trial Registry,Chi CTR1900023263. | Wen-jing Li Chao Gao Li-xin An Yu-wei Ji Fu-shan Xue Yi Du | 2021 | Journal of Integrative Medicine2021,19,3: | 16 |

| 10 | Effect of Essential Oil on Patients with Chronic Prostatitis/Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome: A Pilot Randomized Controlled Trial显示文摘Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of essential oil treatment for type Ⅲ chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome(CP/CPPS). Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted from December 2014 to October 2015. Seventy type Ⅲ CP/CPPS patients were assigned to the essential oil group(35 cases) or almond placebo oil control group(35 cases) by a random number table. The oil was smeared by self-massage on the suprapubic and sacral region once a day for 4 weeks. The National Institutes of Health Chronic Prostatitis Syndrome Index(NIH-CPSI) and expressed prostatic secretions(EPS) were examined. The primary outcome was NIH-CPSI pain domain. The secondary outcomes included other NIH-CPSI domains and laboratory examinations of EPS. Adverse events were also observed. Results: Sixty-six subjects completed the full 4-week treatment. There was no significant difference between almond oil control and essential oil groups in terms of the total score of NIH-CPSI, pain, quality of life and urination domain scores of NIH-CPSI and EPS examinations(P>0.05). In the essential oil group, pain between rectum and testicles(perineum) in the domain of pain or discomfort was significantly reduced at week 2 and week 4 compared with almond oil control group(P<0.01). No serious adverse events occurred. | 11 | Status of hyperhomocysteinemia in China: results from the China Stroke High-risk Population Screening Program, 2018显示文摘A nationwide survey was conducted from October 2018 to September 2019 to assess the prevalence of hyperhomocysteinemia(Hhcy)and its influencing factors in China.A standardized questionnaire was used to collect information.Hhcy was defined as the level of serum homocysteine(HCY)≥15.0µmol/L.The H-type hypertension(HHYP)was defined as hypertension with an elevated serum HCY(≥15.0µmol/L).Finally,110551 residents≥40 years of age from 31 provinces in the mainland of China were included.Overall,the median serum HCY level was 10.9µmol/L(interquartile range 7.9–15.1).A total of 28633 participants(25.9%)were defined as Hhcy.The Hhcy prevalence ranged from 7.9%in Shanghai to 56.8%in Tianjin.The data showed that serum HCY levels were associated with age,male gender,cigarette smoking,hypertension,diabetes,ethnicity,endurance in exercise(inverse),and fruit and vegetable intake(inverse).In addition,15486 participants were defined as HHYP,and the rate was 14.0%.HHYP was an independent predictor of stroke with an adjusted odds ratio of 1.752(95%CI 1.338–2.105).The geographical distribution pattern of the Hhcy epidemic reflects dynamic differences,and national strategies should be carried out to further improve the care of patients with Hhcy across China. | Wenjun Tu Feng Yan Baohua Chao Xunming Ji Longde Wang | 2021 | Frontiers of Medicine2021,15,6: | 12 |

In the present study, we investigated the behavioral and neurochemical effects of lactulose in a rat model of early hepatic encephalopathy induced by carbon tetrachloride. Immunohistochemistry showed that lactulose treatment promoted neurogenesis and increased the number of neurons and astrocytes in the hippocampus. Moreover, lactulose-treated rats showed shorter escape latencies than model rats in the Morris water maze, indicating that lactulose improved the cognitive impairments caused by hepatic encephalopathy. | 18 | Behavioral Abnormality along with NMDAR-related CREB Suppression in Rat Hippocampus after Shortwave Exposure显示文摘Objective To estimate the detrimental effects of shortwave exposure on rat hippocampal structure and function and explore the underlying mechanisms. Methods One hundred Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups(25 rats per group) and exposed to 27 MHz continuous shortwave at a power density of 5, 10, or 30 m W/cm^2 for 6 min once only or underwent sham exposure for the control. The spatial learning and memory, electroencephalogram(EEG), hippocampal structure and Nissl bodies were analysed. Furthermore, the expressions of N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor(NMDAR) subunits(NR1, NR2 A, and NR2 B), c AMP responsive element-binding protein(CREB) and phosphorylated CREB(p-CREB) in hippocampal tissue were analysed on 1, 7, and 14 days after exposure. Results The rats in the 10 and 30 m W/cm^2 groups had poor learning and memory, disrupted EEG oscillations, and injured hippocampal structures, including hippocampal neurons degeneration, mitochondria cavitation and blood capillaries swelling. The Nissl body content was also reduced in the exposure groups. Moreover, the hippocampal tissue in the 30 m W/cm^2 group had increased expressions of NR2 A and NR2 B and decreased levels of CREB and p-CREB. Conclusion Shortwave exposure(27 MHz, with an average power density of 10 and 30 m W/cm^2) impaired rats' spatial learning and memory and caused a series of dose-dependent pathophysiological changes. Methods: A total of 60 patients with advanced NSCLC were assigned to two groups using a random number table, i.e., the gemcitabine plus cisplatin(GP) chemotherapy alone group(26 patients) and the FRG + GP chemotherapy group(34 patients), for 60-day treatment. Patients were then assessed according to the Fatigue Symptom Inventory, Chinese medicine symptoms score, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale, Self-Rating Depression Scale, Karnofsky Performance Status Scale, and Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy-Lung. In addition, chemotherapy toxicity and tumor biomarkers were measured. Results: For NSCLC patients after chemotherapy, FRG extract significantly improved the FSI score, CM symptoms score, psychological status, physical conditions, and quality of life and reduced chemotherapy toxicity(P<0.01), but the expression levels of carcinoembryonic antigen, cytokeratin-19 fragments, and neuron-specific enolase were not significantly different between the chemotherapy alone and the FRG + chemotherapy groups or between pre-and post-treatments(P>0.05). Conclusions: This study demonstrated that FRG extract had an adjuvant effect on advanced NSCLC patients treated with chemotherapy. | 20 | Heavy-ion and pulsed-laser single event effects in 130-nm CMOS-based thin/thick gate oxide anti-fuse PROMs显示文摘Single event effects of 1-T structure programmable read-only memory(PROM) devices fabricated with a 130-nm complementary metal oxide semiconductorbased thin/thick gate oxide anti-fuse process were investigated using heavy ions and a picosecond pulsed laser. The cross sections of a single event upset(SEU) for radiationhardened PROMs were measured using a linear energy transfer(LET) ranging from 9.2 to 95.6 MeV cm^2mg^(-1).The result indicated that the LET threshold for a dynamic bit upset was ~ 9 MeV cm^2mg^(-1), which was lower than the threshold of ~ 20 MeV cm^2mg^(-1) for an address counter upset owing to the additional triple modular redundancy structure present in the latch. In addition, a slight hard error was observed in the anti-fuse structure when employing209 Bi ions with extremely high LET values(~ 91.6 MeV cm^2mg^(-1)) and large ion fluence(~ 1×10~8 ions cm^(-2)). To identify the detailed sensitive position of a SEU in PROMs, a pulsed laser with a 5-μm beam spot was used to scan the entire surface of the device.This revealed that the upset occurred in the peripheral circuits of the internal power source and I/O pairs rather than in the internal latches and buffers. This was subsequently confirmed by a ^(181)Ta experiment. Based on the experimental data and a rectangular parallelepiped model of the sensitive volume, the space error rates for the used PROMs were calculated using the CRèME-96 prediction tool.
