| 3 | Relationship between phenotypes of cell-function differentiation and pathobiological behavior of gastric carcinomas显示文摘AIM To reveal the correlation between thefunctional differentiation phenotypes of gastriccarcinoma cells and the invasion and metastasisby a new way of cell-function classification.METHODS Surgically resected specimens of361 gastric carcinomas (GC) were investigatedwith enzyme-, mucin-, and tumor-related markerimmunohistochemist ry. According to thedirection of cell-function differentiation,stomach carcinomas were divided into fivefunctionally differentiated types.iation type (AFDT): there were 82 (22.7%)patients including 76 (92.7%) aged 45 years.Sixty-nine (84.1%) cases belonged to theintestinal type. Thirty-eight (46.3%) expressedCD44v6 and 9 (13.6%) of 66 male patientsdeveloped liver metastasis. The 5-year survivalrate of patients in this group (58.5%) was higherMucin secreting function differentiation type(MSFDT): 54 (15%) cases. Fifty-three (98.1%)tumors had penetrated the serosa, 12 (22.2%)expressed ER and 22 (40.7%) expressedCD44v6. The postoperative 5-year survival ratefunction differentiation type (AMPFDT): therewere 180 (49.9%) cases, including 31 (17.2%)aged yanger than 45 years. The tumor was morecommon in women (62, 34.4%,) and expressedmore frequently estrogen receptors (ER) ( 129,81.7%) than other types (P<0.01). Ovarymetastasis was found in 12 (19.4%) out of 62female subjects. The patients with this type GChad the lowest 5-year survival rate (24.7%)differentiation type (SFDT): 13 (3.6%) cases.Nine (69.2%) tumors of this type derived fromAPUD system, the other 4 (30.7%) were ofdifferent histological differentiation. Sixty percent of the patients survived at least five years.(8.9%) cases. Nineteen (59.4%) cases hadlymph node metastases but no one with liver orovary metastasis. The 5-year survival rate was28.1%.CONCLUSION This new cell-functionclassification of GC is helpful in indicating thecharacteristics of invasion and metastasis of GCwith different cell-function differentiationphenotypes. | 4 | Mesenchymal stem cells derived from human placenta suppress allogeneic umbilical cord blood lymphocyte proliferation显示文摘ABSTRACTHuman placenta-derived mononuclear cells (MNC) were isolated by a Percoll density gradient and cultured in mesen-chymal stem cell (MSC) maintenance medium. The homogenous layer of adherent cells exhibited a typical fibroblast-like morphology, a large expansive potential, and cell cycle characteristics including a subset of quiescent cells. In vitrodifferentiation assays showed the tripotential differentiation capacity of these cells toward adipogenic, osteogenic andchondrogenic lineages. Flow cytometry analyses and immunocytochemistry stain showed that placental MSC was ahomogeneous cell population devoid of hematopoietic cells, which uniformly expressed CD29, CD44, CD73, CD105,CD166, laminin, fibronectin and vimentin while being negative for expression of CD31, CD34, CD45 and α-smoothmuscle actin. Most importantly, immuno-phenotypic analyses demonstrated that these cells expressed class I majorhistocompatibility complex (MHC-I), but they did not express MHC-II molecules. Additionally these cells could sup-press umbilical cord blood (UCB) lymphocytes proliferation induced by cellular or nonspecific mitogenic stimuli. Thisstrongly implies that they may have potential application in allograft transplantation. | 6 | The Association of Maternal Body Composition and Dietary Intake with the Risk of Gestational Diabetes Mellitus during the Second Trimester in a Cohort of Chinese Pregnant Women显示文摘Objective To investigate the association of maternal body composition and dietary intake with the risk of gestational diabetes mellitus(GDM). Methods A total 154 GDM subjects and 981 controls were enrolled in a prospective cohort study in 11 hospitals from May 20, 2012 to December 31, 2013. Bioelectrical impedance analysis and dietary surveys were used to determine body composition and to evaluate the intake of nutrients in subjects at 21-24 weeks' gestation(WG). Logistic regression analysis was applied to explore the relationships of maternal body composition and dietary intake with the risk of GDM morbidity. Results Age, pre-pregnant body weight(BW), and body mass index(BMI) were associated with increased risk of GDM. Fat mass(FM), fat mass percentage(FMP), extracellular water(ECW), BMI, BW, energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates at 21-24 WG were associated with an increased risk of GDM. In contrast, fat free mass(FFM), muscular mass(MM), and intracellular water(ICW) were associated with a decreased risk of GDM. | 8 | Three-dimensional path planning for unmanned aerial vehicle based on interfered fluid dynamical system显示文摘This paper proposes a method for planning the three-dimensional path for low-flying unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) in complex terrain based on interfered fluid dynamical system(IFDS) and the theory of obstacle avoidance by the flowing stream. With no requirement of solutions to fluid equations under complex boundary conditions, the proposed method is suitable for situations with complex terrain and different shapes of obstacles. Firstly, by transforming the mountains, radar and anti-aircraft fire in complex terrain into cylindrical, conical, spherical, parallelepiped obstacles and their combinations, the 3D low-flying path planning problem is turned into solving streamlines for obstacle avoidance by fluid flow. Secondly, on the basis of a unified mathematical expression of typical obstacle shapes including sphere, cylinder, cone and parallelepiped, the modulation matrix for interfered fluid dynamical system is constructed and 3D streamlines around a single obstacle are obtained. Solutions to streamlines with multiple obstacles are then derived using weighted average of the velocity field. Thirdly, extra control force method and virtual obstacle method are proposed to deal with the stagnation point and the case of obstacles' overlapping respectively. Finally, taking path length and flight height as sub-goals, genetic algorithm(GA) is used to obtain optimal 3D path under the maneuverability constraints of the UAV. Simulation results show that the environmental modeling is simple and the path is smooth and suitable for UAV. | 9 | Value of α-fetoprotein in association with clinicopathological features of hepatocellular carcinoma显示文摘AIM:To explore the relationship between α-fetoprotein(AFP) and various clinicopathological variables and different staging system of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) thoroughly.METHODS:A retrospective cohort study of consecutive patients diagnosed with HCC between January 2008 and December 2009 in West China Hospital was enrolled in our study.The association of serum AFP values with the HCC clinicopathological features was analysed by univariate and multivariate analysis,such as status of hepatitis B virus(HBV) infection,tumor size,tumor number,vascular invasion and degree of tumor differentiation.Also,patients were divided into four groups at the time of enrollment according to different cutoff values for serum value of AFP(≤ 20 μg/L,21-400 μg/L,401-800 μg/L,and ≥ 801 μg/L),to compare the positive rate of patient among four groups stratified by various clinicopathological variables.And the correlation of different kinds of tumor staging systems,such as TNM,Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer(BCLC) staging classification and China staging,were compared with the serum concentration of AFP.RESULTS:A total of 2304 HCC patients were enrolled in this study totally;the mean serum level of AFP was 555.3 ± 546.6 μg/L.AFP levels were within the normal range(< 20 μg/L) in 27.4%(n = 631) of all the cases.81.4%(n = 1875) patients were infected with HBV,and those patients had much higher serum AFP level compared with non-HBV infection ones(573.9 ± 547.7 μg/L vs 398.4 ± 522.3 μg/L,P < 0.001).The AFP level in tumors ≥ 10 cm(808.4 ± 529.2 μg/L) was significantly higher(P < 0.001) than those with tumor size 5-10 cm(499.5 ± 536.4 μg/L) and with tumor size ≤ 5 cm(444.9 ± 514.2 μg/L).AFP levels increased significantly in patients with vascular invasion(694.1 ± 546.9 μg/L vs 502.1 ± 543.1 μg/L,P < 0.001).Patients with low tumor cell differentiation(559.2 ± 545.7 μg/L) had the significantly(P = 0.007) highest AFP level compared with high differentiation(207.3 ± 420.8 μg/L) and intermediate differentiation(527.9 ± 538.4 μg/L).In the multiple variables analysis,low tumor cell differentiation [OR 6.362,95%CI:2.891-15.382,P = 0.006] and tumor size(≥ 10 cm)(OR 5.215,95%CI:1.426-13.151,P = 0.012) were independent predictors of elevated AFP concentrations(AFP > 400 μg/L).Serum AFP levels differed significantly(P < 0.001) in the D stage of BCLC(625.7 ± 529.8 μg/L) compared with stage A(506.2 ± 537.4 μg/L) and B(590.1 ± 551.1 μg/L).CONCLUSION:HCC differentiation,size and vascular invasion have strong relationships with AFP,poor differentiation and HCC size ≥ 10 cm are independent predictors of elevated AFP.BCLC shows better relationship with | Chang Liu Guang-Qin Xiao Lu-Nan Yan Bo Li Li Jiang Tian-Fu Wen Wen-Tao Wang Ming-Qing Xu Jia-Yin Yang | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,11: | 22 |

| 11 | Comparison of Undernutrition Prevalence of Children under 5 Years in China between 2002 and 2013显示文摘Objective To describe the undernutrition status of children under 5-year in China, and study the trend between 2002 and 2013. Methods The study was based on two national surveys. Undernutrition was determined against WHO's 2006 growth standards. The prevalence in 2013 and 2002 was weighted by China sixth National Population Census(2010). The relationship between undernutrition and gender/age groups/different areas use weighted logistic regression. Results The results indicated the overall prevalence of stunting, underweight, and wasting of Chinese children under 5-year was 8.1%, 2.4%, and 1.9% in 2013, respectively. The prevalence of stunting was higher for children aged 12-47 month, while underweight was higher for children aged 48-59 month. The prevalence of undernutrition was higher in rural areas than in urban areas, especially in poor rural areas. There was a decline of stunting, underweight, and wasting between 2002 and 2013 among the children, with greater reduction in rural areas than in urban areas. Conclusion The prevalence of undernutrition of children under 5-year remains high in rural areas especially in poor rural areas in China. | 12 | Percutaneous transhepatic extraction and balloon dilation for simultaneous gallbladder stones and common bile duct stones:A novel technique显示文摘AIM To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of an innovative percutaneous transhepatic extraction and balloon dilation(PTEBD) technique for clearance of gallbladder stones in patients with concomitant stones in the common bile duct(CBD).METHODS The data from 17 consecutive patients who underwent PTEBD for clearance of gallbladder stones were retrospectively analyzed. After removal of the CBD stones by percutaneous transhepatic balloon dilation(PTBD), the gallbladder stones were extracted to the CBD and pushed into the duodenum with a balloon after dilation of the sphincter of Oddi. Large stones were fragmented using a metallic basket. The patients were monitored for immediate adverse events including hemorrhage, perforation, pancreatitis, and cholangitis. During the two-year follow-up, they were monitored for stone recurrence, reflux cholangitis, and other longterm adverse events.RESULTS Gallbladder stones were successfully removed in 16(94.1%) patients. PTEBD was repeated in one patient. The mean hospitalization duration was 15.9 ± 2.2 d. Biliary duct infection and hemorrhage occurred in one(5.9%) patient. No severe adverse events, including pancreatitis or perforation of the gastrointestinal or biliary tract occurred. Neither gallbladder stone recurrence nor refluxing cholangitis had occurred two years after the procedure.CONCLUSION Sequential PTBD and PTEBD are safe and effective for patients with simultaneous gallbladder and CBD stones. | 13 | Analysis of air quality characteristics of Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei and its surrounding air pollution transport channel cities in China显示文摘Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei(BTH)and its surrounding areas are very important to air pollution control in China.To analyze the characteristics of BTH and its surrounding areas of China,we collected 5,641,440 air quality data from 161 air monitoring stations and 37,123,000 continuous monitoring data from air polluting enterprises in BTH and surrounding cities to establish an indicator system for urban air quality portraits.The results showed that particulate matter with aerodynamic diameters of<2.5μm(PM2.5),particulate matter with aerodynamic diameters of<10μm(PM10)and SO2 improved significantly in 31 cities from2015 to 2018,but ozone deteriorated.Air quality in BTH and the surrounding areas showed obvious seasonal characteristics,among which PM2.5,PM10,SO2,and NO2 showed a'U'type distribution from January to December,while O3 had an'inverted U'distribution.The hourly changes in air quality revealed that peaks of PM2.5,PM10 and NO2 appeared from 8:00 to 10:00,while those for O3 appeared at 15:00–16:00.The exposure characteristics of the 31 cities showed that six districts in Beijing had the highest air quality population exposure,and that exposure levels in Zhengzhou,Puyang,Anyang,Jincheng were higher than the average of the 31 investigated cities.Additionally,multiple linear regression revealed a negative correlation between meteorological factors(especially wind and precipitation)and air quality,while a positive correlation existed between industrial pollution emissions and air quality in most of BTH and its surrounding cities. | Cuicui Xiao Miao Chang Peikun Guo Meifeng Gu Yang Li | 2020 | Journal of Environmental Sciences2020,32,1: | 15 |
| 14 | The Predictive Value of Baseline HBs Ag Level and Early Response for HBs Ag Loss in Patients with HBe Ag-positive Chronic Hepatitis B during Pegylated Interferon Alpha-2a Treatment显示文摘Objective To explore the predictive value of baseline HBsAg level and early response for HBsAg loss in patients with HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B during pegylated interferon alpha-2a treatment. Methods A total of 121 patients with HBeAg-positive chronic hepatitis B who achieved HBsAg loss were enrolled; all patients were treated with PEG-IFNα-2a 180 μg/week. Serum HBV DNA and serological indicators(HBsAg, anti-HBs, HBeAg, and anti-HBe) were determined before and every 3 months during treatment. Results The median treatment time for HBsAg loss was 84 weeks(7-273 weeks), and 74.38%(90 cases) of the patients needed extended treatment(> 48 weeks). The correlation between baseline HBsAg levels and the treatment time of HBsAg loss was significant(B = 14.465, t = 2.342, P = 0.021). Baseline HBsAg levels together with the decline range of HBsAg at 24 weeks significantly correlated with the treatment time of HBsAg loss(B = 29.862, t = 4.890, P = 0.000 and B = 27.993, t = 27.993, P = 0.005). Conclusion Baseline HBsAg levels and extended therapy are critical steps toward HBsAg loss. | 16 | Antiviral effects of Reduning injection against Enterovirus 71 and possible mechanisms of action显示文摘The present study was designed to evaluate the protective effects of Reduning injection against Enterovirus 71(EV71) in Vero cells and in mice. The Vero cells were infected with 100 and 50 TCID50(50% tissue culture infective dose) of EV71, respectively. The inhibition of Reduning injection on cytopathic effect(CPE) was detected. Meanwhile, a mouse model produced by intraperitoneal EV71-infection(106 TCID50), was used to investigate the protective effects of Reduning injection. The total survival rate, living time, daily survival rate, weight ratio, and score for symptoms were examined. The viral loads in Vero cells and muscle tissues were detected using real-time PCR. Finally, the content of cytokines was analyzed by ELISA. In the Vero cells, 2.5 mg crude drug·m L-1 of Reduning injection inhibited CPE induced by EV71 infection. In the mice, 1.3 g crude drug·kg-1 of Reduning injection rescued death triggered by infection, in comparison with model group. Moreover, the survival rate, weight ratio, and clinical scores were also improved. The viral RNA copies in the Vero cells and the mice muscle tissues were reduced. Besides, the steep EV71-induced accumulations of TNF-α and MCP-1 were decreased by Reduning injection. | 18 | Detection for disease tipping points by landscape dynamic network biomarkers显示文摘A new model-free method has been developed and termed the landscape dynamic network biomarker(l-DNB) methodology. The method is based on bifurcation theory, which can identify tipping points prior to serious disease deterioration using only single-sample omics data. Here, we show that l-DNB provides early-warning signals of disease deterioration on a single-sample basis and also detects critical genes or network biomarkers(i.e. DNB members) that promote the transition from normal to disease states. As a case study, l-DNB was used to predict severe influenza symptoms prior to the actual symptomatic appearance in influenza virus infections. The l-DNB approach was then also applied to three tumor disease datasets from the TCGA and was used to detect critical stages prior to tumor deterioration using an individual DNB for each patient. The individual DNBs were further used as individual biomarkers in the analysis of physiological data, which led to the identification of two biomarker types that were surprisingly effective in predicting the prognosis of tumors. | 19 | Neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio predicts the prognosis of patients with hepatocellular carcinoma after liver transplantation显示文摘AIM:To determine whether an elevated neutrophillymphocyte ratio(NLR)is negatively associated with tumor recurrence in patients with hepatitis B virus(HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)after liver transplantation(LT),and to determine the optimal predictive NLR cut-off value.METHODS:The data of HCC patients who had undergone LT came from the China Liver Transplant Registry database.We collected data from 326 liver cancer patients who had undergone LT at our medical center.We divided the patients into groups based on their NLRs(3,4 or 5).We then compared the clinicopathological data and long-time survival between these groups.Meanwhile,we used receiver operating characteristic analysis to determine the optimal NLR cut-off.RESULTS:Of 280 HCC patients included in this study,263 were HBV positive.Patients with an NLR<3 and patients with an NLR≥3 but<4 showed no significant differences in overall survival(OS)(P=0.212)or disease-free survival(DFS)(P=0.601).Patients with an NLR≥4 but<5 and patients with an NLR≥5also showed no significant differences in OS(P=0.208)or DFS(P=0.618).The 1-,3-and 5-year OS rates of patients with an NLR<4 vs an NLR≥4 were 87.8%,63.8%and 61.5%vs 73.9%,36.7%and 30.3%,respectively(P<0.001).The 1-,3-and 5-year DFS rates of patients with an NLR<4 vs NLR≥4 were 83.9%,62.9%and 60.7%vs 64.9%,30.1%and 30.1%,respectively(P<0.001).Univariate and multivariate analyses demonstrated that three factors,including NLR≥4(P=0.002),were significant predictors of tumor recurrence in HCC patients after LT.CONCLUSION:A preoperative elevated NLR significantly increased the risk for tumor recurrence in HCC patients after LT. | Guang-Qin Xiao Chang Liu Da-Li Liu Jia-Yin Yang Lu-Nan Yan | 2013 | World Journal of Gastroenterology2013,19,45: | 12 |
