3Novel Anti-fouling Strategies of Live and Dead Soft Corals(Sarcophyton trocheliophorum):Combined Physical and Chemical Mechanisms显示文摘At present,biomimetic antifouling research objects are mostly concentrated on the fast-moving marine organism,but the anti-fouling effect of the low-speed or static marine equipment is not obvious.This paper describes the anti-fouling mechanism of soft coral(Sarcophyton trocheliophorum),including the physical defense mechanism and the bactericidal ability of mucus and coral powder.As a sessile organisms,soft coral lacks escape mechanism.Therefore,the study on its antibacterial strategy is significant because it can provide theoretical guidance for static antifouling.Results showed that the live soft coral would molt in unfriendly environment,and the secreted mucus could defend themselves against fouling microorganism.Then,Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry(LC-MS)analysis was conducted to identify the bioactive compounds of the coral powder and mucus.Results revealed that both powder and mucus contained a wide variety of toxic components,which had bactericidal effects.Moreover,at the same concentration,the inhibitory effect of the main components on Gram-negative bacteria was stronger than that on positive bacteria.These findings enhance the understanding about the antifouling mechanism of soft coral and provide new ideas for design and prepare novel antifouling strategy to combat biofouling under static condition.Limei Tian E Jin Benli Yu Hang Sun Yangeng Shang Wei Bing 2020Journal of Bionic Engineering2020,17,4:2

7Numerical investigation for effects of natural light and ventilation on 3D tomato body heat distribution in a Venlo greenhouse显示文摘Maintaining suitable temperature level around tomato in the greenhouse is essential for the high-quality production.However,in summer,the temperature level around the tomato is usually unclear except using a high-precision temperature imager.To solve this problem,thermal performance of 3D(three-dimensional)tomato model built based on SolidWorks was investigated by the computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations.To assess the effect of temperature distribution around the tomato,a simplified 3D tomato numerical model was firstly validated by a set of field measurement data.The light intensity and indoor ventilation were regarded as the mainly environment factors in the Venlo greenhouse,thermal stratification around tomatoes at different time of day was further studied.The numerical results illustrated the different temperature distribution around tomato body under different radiation intensity.It was found that ventilation could obviously adjust the temperature gradient around the tomato,and alleviate high temperature effect particularly in summer.Suitable ventilation could create a suitable thermal environment for the tomato growth.This study clearly demonstrated 3D temperature distribution around tomatoes,which is beneficial to provide the reference for accurate detection of 3D tomato temperature and appropriate thermal environment design.Guanghui Yu Shanhong Zhang Shuai Li Minshu Zhang Hüseyin Benli Yang Wang 2023Information Processing in Agriculture2023,10,4:0
8Gut microbiota research nexus:One Health relationshipbetween human,animal,and environmental resistomes显示文摘The emergence and rapid spread of antimicrobial resistance is of global public health concern.The gut microbiota harboring diverse commensal and opportunistic bacteria that can acquire resistance via horizontal and vertical gene transfers is considered an important reservoir and sink of antibiotic resistance genes(ARGs).In this review,we describe the reservoirs of gut ARGs and their dynamics in both animals and humans,use the One Health perspective to track the transmission of ARG-containing bacteria between humans,animals,and the environment,and assess the impact of antimicrobial resistance on human health and socioeconomic development.The gut resistome can evolve in an environment subject to various selective pressures,including antibiotic administration and environmental and lifestyle factors(e.g.,diet,age,gender,and living conditions),and interventions through probiotics.Strategies to reduce the abundance of clinically relevant antibiotic-resistant bacteria and their resistance determinants in various environmental niches are needed to ensure the mitigation of acquired antibiotic resistance.With the help of effective measures taken at the national,local,personal,and intestinal management,it will also result in preventing or minimizing the spread of infectious diseases.This review aims to improve our understanding of the correlations between intestinal microbiota and antimicrobial resistance and provide a basis for the development of management strategies to mitigate the antimicrobial resistance crisis.Yuhao Fu Qingyuan Dou Kornelia Smalla Yu Wang Timothy A.Johnson Kristian K.Brandt Zhi Mei Maoyuan Liao Syed A.Hashsham Andreas Schäffer Hauke Smidt Tong Zhang Hui Li Robert Stedtfeld Hongjie Sheng Benli Chai Marko Virta Xin Jiang Fang Wang Yong-Guan Zhu James M.Tiedje 2023mLife2023,2,4:0
9Mutual aid instead of mutual restraint:interactive probing for topological charge and phase of a vortex beam of large aberrations显示文摘An imperfect propagation environment or optical system would introduce wavefront aberrations to vortex beams.The phase aberrations and orbital angular momentum in a vortex beam are proved to be mutually restrictive in parameter measurement.Aberrations make traditional topological charge(TC)probing methods ineffective while the phase singularity makes phase retrieval difficult due to the aliasing between the wrapped phase jump and the vortex phase jump.An interactive probing method is proposed to make measurements of the aberrated phase and orbital angular momentum in a vortex beam assist rather than hinder each other.The phase unwrapping is liberated from the phase singularity by an annular shearing interference technique while the TC value is determined by a Moirétechnique immune to aberrations.Simulation and experimental results proving the method effective are presented.It is of great significance to judge the characteristics of vortex beams passing through nonideal environments and optical systems.SHENGYANG WU BENLI YU LEI ZHANG 2024Photonics Research2024,12,1:0
