| 2 | Effects of surface finish and treatment on the fatigue behaviour of vibrating cylinder block using frequency response approach显示文摘This paper presents the effects of surface finish and treatment on the high cycle fatigue behaviour of vibrating cylinder block of a new two-stroke free piston engine at complex variable amplitude loading conditions using frequency response approach. Finite element modelling and frequency response analysis was conducted using finite element analysis software Package MSC.PATRAN/MSC.NASTRAN and fatigue life prediction was carried out using MSC.FATIGUE software. Based on the finite element results, different frequency response approach was applied to predict the cylinder block fatigue life. Results for different load histories and material combinations are also discussed. Results indicated great effects for all surface finish and treatment. It is concluded that polished and cast surface finish conditions give the highest and lowest cylinder block lives, respectively; and that Nitrided treatment leads to longest cylinder block life. The results were used to draw contour plots of fatigue life and damage in the worst or most damaging case. | RAHMAN M. M. ARIFFIN A. | 3 | An adaptive finite element procedure for crack propagation analysis显示文摘This paper presents the adaptive mesh finite element estimation method for analyzing 2D linear elastic fracture problems. The mesh is generated by the advancing front method and the norm stress error is taken as a posteriori error estimator for the h-type adaptive refinement. The stress intensity factors are estimated by a displacement extrapolation technique. The near crack tip displacements used are obtained from specific nodes of natural six-noded quarter-point elements which are generated around the crack tip defined by the user. The crack growth and its direction are determined by the calculated stress intensity factors. The maximum circumference theory is used for the latter. In evaluating the accuracy of the estimated stress intensity factors, four cases are tested consisting of compact tension specimen, three-point bending specimen, central cracked plate and double edge notched plate. | 5 | Finite element simulation of stress intensity factors in elastic-plastic crack growth显示文摘A finite element program developed elastic-plastic crack propagation simulation using Fortran language. At each propagation step, the adaptive mesh is automatically refined based on a posteriori h-type refinement using norm stress error estimator. A rosette of quarter-point elements is then constructed around the crack tip to facilitate the prediction of crack growth based on the maximum normal stress criterion and to calculate stress intensity factors under plane stress and plane strain conditions. Crack was modelled to propagate through the inter-element in the mesh. | 7 | Psychosocial impact of mothers with perinatal loss and its contributing factors:an insight显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the psychosocial impact among mothers with perinatal loss and its contributing factors.Methods:A cross sectional study was conducted in University Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC) from April 2008 to May 2009 using Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) and self administered questionnaire.Results:Sixty-two respondents were included and most of them were working mothers (77.4%).The mean age of the respondents was (31.0±5.6) years and a majority of the subjects aged between 20-34 years (77.4%).According to the EPDS score,53.2% of the respondents had a psychosocial impact with a total score of >9,out of 30.There was a significant relationship between psychosocial impact after perinatal loss and support from friends (P=0.019).However,there were no significant differences between psychosocial impact and history of previous perinatal loss,ethnicity,occupation,educational level,age or total income.Conclusion:Mothers with perinatal loss should be screened for psychosocial impact and offered support when needed.Family and friends should continue to provide emotional support.People who have experienced similar problem before will be able to provide better support than those who have not. | Rosnah SUTAN Rosnah Mohamad AMIN Khatija Banu ARIFFIN Tang Zoun TENG Mohd Faiz KAMAL Rusli Zaim RUSLI | 2010 | Journal of Zhejiang University-Science B(Biomedicine & Biotechnology)2010，11，3： | 2 |
