| 1 | Embedding-based Detection and Extraction of Research Topics from Academic Documents Using Deep Clustering显示文摘Purpose:Detection of research fields or topics and understanding the dynamics help the scientific community in their decisions regarding the establishment of scientific fields.This also helps in having a better collaboration with governments and businesses.This study aims to investigate the development of research fields over time,translating it into a topic detection problem.Design/methodology/approach:To achieve the objectives,we propose a modified deep clustering method to detect research trends from the abstracts and titles of academic documents.Document embedding approaches are utilized to transform documents into vector-based representations.The proposed method is evaluated by comparing it with a combination of different embedding and clustering approaches and the classical topic modeling algorithms(i.e.LDA)against a benchmark dataset.A case study is also conducted exploring the evolution of Artificial Intelligence(AI)detecting the research topics or sub-fields in related AI publications.Findings:Evaluating the performance of the proposed method using clustering performance indicators reflects that our proposed method outperforms similar approaches against the benchmark dataset.Using the proposed method,we also show how the topics have evolved in the period of the recent 30 years,taking advantage of a keyword extraction method for cluster tagging and labeling,demonstrating the context of the topics.Research limitations:We noticed that it is not possible to generalize one solution for all downstream tasks.Hence,it is required to fine-tune or optimize the solutions for each task and even datasets.In addition,interpretation of cluster labels can be subjective and vary based on the readers’opinions.It is also very difficult to evaluate the labeling techniques,rendering the explanation of the clusters further limited.Practical implications:As demonstrated in the case study,we show that in a real-world example,how the proposed method would enable the researchers and reviewers of the academic research to detect,summarize,analyze,and visualize research topics from decades of academic documents.This helps the scientific community and all related organizations in fast and effective analysis of the fields,by establishing and explaining the topics.Originality/value:In this study,we introduce a modified and tuned deep embedding clustering coupled with Doc2Vec representations for topic extraction.We also use a concept extraction method as a labeling approach in this study.The effectiveness of the method has been evaluated in a case study of AI publications,where we analyze the AI topics during the past three decades. | Sahand Vahidnia Alireza Abbasi Hussein A.Abbass | 2021 | Journal of Data and Information Science2021,6,3: | 4 |

| 3 | Fault diagnosis using noise modeling and a new artificial immune system based algorithm显示文摘A new fault classification/diagnosis method based on artificial immune system(AIS) algorithms for the structural systems is proposed. In order to improve the accuracy of the proposed method, i.e., higher success rate, Gaussian and non-Gaussian noise generating models are applied to simulate environmental noise. The identification of noise model, known as training process, is based on the estimation of the noise model parameters by genetic algorithms(GA) utilizing real experimental features. The proposed fault classification/diagnosis algorithm is applied to the noise contaminated features. Then, the results are compared to that obtained without noise modeling. The performance of the proposed method is examined using three laboratory case studies in two healthy and damaged conditions. | 9 | Simultaneous syngas production with different H_2/CO ratio in a multi-tubular methane steam and dry reformer by utilizing of CLC显示文摘For syngas production, the combustion of fossil fuels produces large amounts of CO2 as a greenhouse gas annually which intensifies global warming. In this study, chemical looping combustion(CLC) has been utilized for the elimination of CO2 emission to atmosphere during simultaneous syngas production with different H2/CO ratio in steam reforming of methane(SR) and dry reforming of methane(DR) in a CLC-SR-DR configuration. In CLC-SR-DR with 184 reformer tubes(similar to an industrial scale steam reformer in Zagros Petrochemical Company, Assaluyeh, Iran), DR reaction occurs over Rh-based catalysts in 31 tubes. Also, SR reaction is happened over Ni-based catalysts in 153 tubes. CLC via employment of Mn-based oxygen carriers supplies heat for DR and SR reactions and produces CO2 and H2O as raw materials simultaneously. A steady state heterogeneous catalytic reaction model is applied to analyze the performance and applicability of the proposed CLC-SR-DR configuration. Simulation results show that combustion efficiency reached 1 at the outlet of fuel reactor(FR). Therefore,pure CO2 and H2O can be recycled to DR and SR sides, respectively. Also, CH4 conversion reached 0.2803 and 0.7275 at the outlet of SR and DR sides, respectively. Simulation results indicate that, 3223 kmol h-1syngas with a H2/CO ratio equal to 9.826 was produced in SR side of CLC-SR-DR. After that, 1844 kmol h-1syngas with a H2/CO ratio equal to 0.986 was achieved in DR side of CLC-SR-DR. Results illustrate that by increasing the number of DR tubes to 50 tubes and considering 184 fixed total tubes in CLC-SR-DR, CH4 conversions in SR and DR sides decreased 2.69% and 3.31%, respectively. However, this subject caused total syngas production in SR and DR sides(in all of 184 tubes)enhance to 5427 kmol h-1. | 10 | CFD simulations of a semi-transverse ventilation system in a long tunnel显示文摘In the present work,a semi-transverse ventilation system in a long tunnel with a length of 4.9 km,as a complex case study,is numer-ically studied by performing a set of three-dimensional steady incompressible computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations.The ven-tilation system consisted of a ceiling duct connected to two axial fans at the ending portals,and a series of jet fans in the main tunnel for supporting airflow in the desired direction.To focus on what can and cannot be achieved in commissioning tests,the ventilation system’s performance in various scenarios is numerically evaluated with two different tunnel states;empty tunnel and complete traffic congestion with 1176 stationary vehicles–which is almost impossible to evaluate during a commissioning test.By considering two hypothetical loca-tions for the extraction zone from the main tunnel(in a distance of 450 and 1000 m from one portal),it is shown that the required number of jet fans in a traffic condition drops from 57 for the first extraction location to 43(25%decrease)when the ventilation system extracts from the second zone.We show that if only the close axial fan to the extraction zone is activated,the required number of jet fans reduces by 56%and 72%for the first and second extraction locations,respectively.This finding can provide a cheaper and easier controlling scenario for emergency ventilation. | Alireza Dastan Mohammad Rahiminejad Mozhgan Sabz Meisam Abbasi Ali Mokhtari Sasan Sadrizadeh Omid Abouali | 2023 | Underground Space2023,,4: | 0 |
