1Fatigue reliability assessment for bridge welded details using long-term monitoring data显示文摘A reliability assessment method of fatigue life based on the long-term monitoring data is developed for welded details in steel box girder,and the application research is presented with examples of welded rib-to-deck details in Runyang Bridges. Firstly the fatigue damage limit-state function is established based on S-N curves and Miner's rule,and the probability distribution characteristics of the coefficients in the function are discussed in detail. The uncertainties in fatigue loading effects are mainly studied based on long-term monitoring data. In the traditional studies,only the uncertainty of equivalent stress range is considered in fatigue reliability assessment. However,stress cycle number is also treated as a random variable in this paper because we know traffic flow every day differs in a thousand ways. Then the optimization method is employed to calculate the fatigue reliability. After studying the changing law of the reliability indices with time and the effect of the randomness of stress cycle number on reliability,the effect of the traffic growth on the reliability is studied. 2Environmental variability study on the measured responses of Runyang Cablestayed Bridge using wavelet packet analysis显示文摘The structural damage alarming method based on wavelet packet energy spectrum (WPES) for long-span cable-stayed bridges is presented through combination of ambient vibration test and wavelet packet analysis. The environmental variability in the measured WPES and damage alarming indices ERVD of the Runyang Cable-stayed Bridge are discussed in detail using the wavelet packet analysis of the measured acceleration responses of the bridge under daily environmental conditions. The analysis results reveal that the actual environmental conditions including traffic loadings, environmental temperature and typhoon loadings have remarkable correlations with the measured WPES. The changes of environmental temperature have a long-term trend influence on the WPES, while the influences of traffic and typhoon loadings on the measured WPES of the bridge present instantaneous changes because of the nonstationary properties of the loadings. The analysis results of the measured responses further reveal that the damage alarming indices ERVD can sensitively reflect the influences of environmental temperature and typhoon loadings on the dynamic properties of Runyang Cable-stayed Bridge. 3Analysis and assessment of bridge health monitoring mass data——progress in research/development of “Structural Health Monitoring”显示文摘The 'Structural Health Monitoring' is a project supported by National Natural Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars of China(Grant No.50725828).To meet the urgent requirements of analysis and assessment of mass monitoring data of bridge environmental actions and structural responses,the monitoring of environmental actions and action effect modeling methods,dynamic performance monitoring and early warning methods,condition assessment and operation maintenance methods of key members are systematically studied in close combination with structural characteristics of long-span cable-stayed bridges and suspension bridges.The paper reports the progress of the project as follows.(1) The environmental action modeling methods of long-span bridges are established based on monitoring data of temperature,sustained wind and typhoon.The action effect modeling methods are further developed in combination with the multi-scale baseline finite element modeling method for long-span bridges.(2) The identification methods of global dynamic characteristics and internal forces of cables and hangers for long-span cable-stayed bridges and suspension bridges are proposed using the vibration monitoring data,on the basis of which the condition monitoring and early warning methods of bridges are developed using the environmental-condition-normalization technique.(3) The analysis methods for fatigue loading effect of welded details of steel box girder,temperature and traffic loading effect of expansion joint are presented based on long-term monitoring data of strain and beam-end displacement,on the basis of which the service performance assessment and remaining life prediction methods are developed.LI AiQun DING YouLiang WANG Hao GUO Tong 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,8:14
4Accurate stress analysis on rigid central buckle of long-span suspension bridges based on submodel method显示文摘Runyang Suspension Bridge (RSB) with the main span of 1490 m is the longest bridge in China and the third longest one in the world. In this bridge the rigid central buckle is employed for the first time in the mid-span of the suspension bridge in China. For such a super-long-span bridge, the traditional finite element (FE) modeling technique and stress analysis methods obviously cannot satisfy the needs of conducting accurate stress analysis on the central buckle. In this paper, the submodel method is in- troduced and for the first time used in analyzing the stresses of the central buckle. After an accurate FE submodel of the central buckle was specially established according to the analysis results from the whole FE model, the connection technique between the two-scale FE models was realized and the ac- curate stresses of the central buckle under various vehicle load cases were then conducted based on the submodel method. The calculation results were testified to be accurate and reliable by the field measurements, which show the efficiency and reliability of the submodel method on analyzing the mechanical condition of the central buckle of long-span suspension bridges. Finally, the working be- havior and mechanical characteristics of the central buckle of the RSB under vehicle loads were ana- lyzed based on the calculation and measurement results. 6Study on seismic response control of a single-tower self-anchored suspension bridge with elastic-plastic steel damper显示文摘Elastic-plastic steel damper(EPSD) is a new device controlling seismic responses.The mechanical principle of EPSD was presented and a comparison was conducted between the theoretical formulas and finite element(FE) simulation of damper units.The verified force-displacement hysteretic curve of the damper system was obtained with reference to tests.The Nanjing Jiangxinzhou Bridge(NJB) was subsequently taken as the case to investigate the seismic response control effect of EPSDs on single-tower self-anchored suspension bridges.A 3-dimensional FE model of the bridge was established in ANSYS and the dynamic and static analyses of the bridge were conducted,the control effect of EPSDs under different seismic waves was further investigated through nonlinear time-history analysis based on the validated model.Results showed that both the simplified theoretical and FE simulation methods can preferable reflect the mechanical performance of EPSD,and that seismic responses of NJB with EPSDs are better than those with elastic connection device or fluid viscous damper.However,the control effect of EPSDs is influenced by seismic wave characteristics.WANG Hao ZHOU Rui ZONG ZhouHong WANG Chen LI AiQun 2012Science China(Technological Sciences)2012,55,6:12
7Research on seasonal correlation of wavelet packet energy spectrum and temperature of Runyang Suspension Bridge显示文摘In order to establish an environmental-condition-normalized structural damage alarming method,the seasonal correlation analysis of wavelet packet energy spectrum(WPES)and temperature of Runyang Suspension Bridge is performed by means of the 236-day health monitoring data.The analysis results reveal that the measured WPES has remarkable seasonal correlation with the environmental tempera-ture.The seasonal change of environmental temperature accounts for the variation of the damage alarming parameter Ip of the dominant frequency bands with an averaged variance of 200%.The statis-tical modeling technique using a 6th-order polynomial is adopted to formulate the correlation between the WPES and temperature,on the basis of which the abnormal changes of measured damage alarming parameter Ip are detected using the mean value control chart.It is found that the proposed method can effectively eliminate temperature complications from the time series of WPES and exhibit good capa-bility for detecting the damage-induced 10% variances of the damage alarming parameter Ip.And the proposed WPES-based method is superior the modal frequency and hence is more suitable for online real-time damage alarming for long-span bridges.YouLiang Ding AiQun Li Jun Sun Yang Deng 2009Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,6:10
8Field measurement on wind characteristic and buffeting response of the Runyang Suspension Bridge during typhoon Matsa显示文摘Field measurement on wind characteristic and buffeting response of existing bridge is of great value to the development of bridge wind engineering,and the structural health monitoring system(SHMS) em-ployed in many long-span bridges provide a research basis for the field measurement.In order to pro-vide reliable basis for wind resistant evaluation of Runyang Suspension Bridge(RSB),two anemome-ters and 85 accelerometers were installed in the SHMS of RSB.In August 2005,Typhoon Matsa crossed over Jiangsu,the SHMS timely recorded the typhoon and structural vibration responses.In this paper by using the time-frequency technique and statistical theory,the recorded data were analyzed to obtain the strong wind characteristics,the buffeting response characteristics of the cable and deck,and the variation of buffeting response RMS versus wind speed.Results obtained in this study can be em-ployed to validate the credibility of current buffeting response analysis theory techniques,and provide reference values for wind resistant evaluation of other long-span bridges.WANG Hao LI AiQun GUO Tong XIE Jing 2009Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,5:10
9Study on correlations of modal frequencies and environmental factors for a suspension bridge based on improved neural networks显示文摘By using of long-term monitoring data of Runyang Suspension Bridge,the improved back-propagation neural networks (BPNNs) are formulated for modeling the correlations between modal frequencies and environmental conditions including wind,temperature and vehicle load.Then,with the correlation models the environmental effects on modal frequencies are quantified and the abnormal changes of measured frequencies are detected by means of the hypothesis tests.Analysis results reveal that BPNN-based correlation models improved by both early stopping and Bayesian regularization techniques exhibit excellent generalization capability.And the developed correlation models can effectively reduce the environmental variability in modal frequencies.The t-test method provides a good capability to detect the damage-induced 0.16% and 0.12% abnormal changes of the 5th and 6th modal frequencies,respectively.Hence,the proposed method is suitable for real-time monitoring of suspension bridge conditions.DING YouLiang,DENG Yang & LI AiQun Key Laboratory of Concrete and Prestressed Concrete Structure of Ministry of Education,Southeast University,Nanjing 210096,China 2010Science China(Technological Sciences)2010,53,9:9
10Assessment of bridge expansion joints using long-term displacement measurement under changing environmental conditions显示文摘This paper addresses the problem of condition assessment of bridge expansion joints using long-term measurement data under changing environmental conditions.The effects of temperature,traffic loading and wind on the expansion joint displacements are analyzed and interpreted,which reveal that measured displacements are observed to increase with an increase in temperature and to decrease with increased traffic loading,while the correlation between displacement and wind speed is very weak.Two regression models are developed to simulate the varying displacements under the changes in temperature and traffic loadings.Based on these models,the effects of the environmental conditions are removed to obtain the normalized displacement.Statistical process control using mean value control charts is further used to detect damage to the bridge expansion joints.The results reveal that the proposed method had a good capability for detecting the damage-induced 1.0%variances of the annual changes in the expansion joint displacements.Youliang DING Aiqun LI 2011Frontiers of Structural and Civil Engineering2011,5,3:8
11Experimental study on strain and deformation monitoring of reinforced concrete structures using PPP-BOTDA显示文摘Pulse-prepump Brillouin optical time domain analysis (PPP-BOTDA) is a novel technique for distributed strain measurements, in which a pre-pump pulse is inputted in front of the measuring pump pulse to stimulate the phonon, so that higher spatial resolution and measurement precision can be obtained. Principle, methodologies and technical parameters of the PPP-BOTDA are presented and the influence of temperature on measurements is discussed. Applications are made in the bond test of steel rebars and the bending test of concrete girders. Test results show that the PPP-BOTDA can provide a precise description on the strain distribution of steel rebar and concrete, exhibiting the ability for crack detection. Moreover, structural deformation can be obtained indirectly by accumulating the distributed strains along the optical fiber, thus the deflection curves of the concrete girder during the loading process are obtained. 12Resilience-based retrofitting of existing urban RC-frame buildings using seismic isolation显示文摘The improvement of the seismic resilience of existing reinforced-concrete(RC) frame buildings, which is essential for the seismic resilience of a city, has become a critical issue. Although seismic isolation is an effective method for improving the resilient performance of such buildings, target-oriented quantitative improvements of the resilient performance of these buildings have been reported rarely. To address this gap, the seismic resilience of two existing RC frame buildings located in a high seismic intensity region of China were assessed based on the Chinese Standard for Seismic Resilience Assessment of Buildings. The critical engineering demand parameters(EDPs) affecting the seismic resilience of such buildings were identified. Subsequently, the seismic resilience of buildings retrofitted with different isolation schemes(i.e., yield ratios) were evaluated and compared, with emphasis on the relationships among yield ratios, EDPs, and levels of seismic resilience. Accordingly, to achieve the highest level of seismic resilience with respect to the Chinese standard, a yield ratio of 3% was recommended and successfully applied to the target-oriented design for the seismic-resilience improvement of an existing RC frame building. 13Bisoprolol reverses down-regulation of potassium channel proteins in ventricular tissues of rabbits with heart failure显示文摘Remodeling of ion channels is an important mechanism of arrhythmia induced by heart failure (HF).We investigated the expression of potassium channel encoding genes in the ventricles of rabbit established by volumeoverload operation followed with pressure-overload.The reversible effect of these changes with bisoprolol was also evaluated.The HF group exhibited left ventricular enlargement,systolic dysfunction,prolongation of corrected QT interval (QTc),and increased plasma brain natriuretic peptide levels in the HF rabbits.Several potassium channel subunit encoding genes were consistently down-regulated in the HF rabbits.After bisoprolol treatment,heart function was improved significantly and QTc was shortened.Additionally,the mRNA expression of potassium channel subunit genes could be partially reversed.The down-regulated expression of potassium channel subunits Kv4.3,Kv1.4,KvLQT1,minK and Kir 2.1 may contribute to the prolongation of action potential duration in the heart of rabbits induced by volume combined with pressure overload HF.Bisoprolol could partially reverse these down-regulations and improve heart function.Xi Li Tingzhong Wang Ke Han Xiaozhen Zhuo Qun Lu Aiqun Ma 2011The Journal of Biomedical Research2011,25,4:6
14Infl uence of structural parameters on dynamic characteristics and wind-induced buffeting responses of a super-long-span cable-stayed bridge显示文摘A 3D finite element(FE) model for the Sutong cable-stayed bridge(SCB) is established based on ANSYS. The dynamic characteristics of the bridge are analyzed using a subspace iteration method. Based on recorded wind data, the measured spectra expression is presented using the nonlinear least-squares regression method. Turbulent winds at the bridge site are simulated based on the spectral representation method and the FFT technique. The influence of some key structural parameters and measures on the dynamic characteristics of the bridge are investigated. These parameters include dead load intensity, as well as vertical, lateral and torsional stiffness of the steel box girder. In addition, the influence of elastic stiffness of the connection device employed between the towers and the girder on the vibration mode of the steel box girder is investigated. The analysis shows that all of the vertical, lateral and torsional buffeting displacement responses reduce gradually as the dead load intensity increases. The dynamic characteristics and the structural buffeting displacement response of the SCB are only slightly affected by the vertical and torsional stiffness of the steel box girder, and the lateral and torsional buffeting displacement responses reduce gradually as the lateral stiffness increases. 15Modal identification of long-span Runyang Bridge using ambient responses recorded by SHMS显示文摘Runyang Bridge is a newly built cable-supported bridge that crosses the Yangtze River in China.The bridge is composed of one suspension bridge and one cable-stayed bridge.During the construction of the bridge,a structural health monitoring system(SHMS)was installed,which was designed by the Southeast University.Since the bridge was open to traffic,quantities of structural ambient responses have been recorded by the SHMS.And,it’s really important to extract structrural information from these records for health monitoring.This paper presents the study on modal identification of the bridge.The dynamic properites including modal frequencies,mode shapes and damping ratios are extracted from the ambient responses.Two identification methods are employed including the enhanced frequency domain decomposition and the stochastic subspace identification.The identified modal parameters from the two methods are compared.Results show that modal frequencies and mode shapes from the two methods are almost the same while the damping ratios are different.QingGuo Fei AiQun Li XiaoLin Han ChangQing Miao 2009Science China(Technological Sciences)2009,52,12:4
16Horizontal shaking table tests and analysis on structures with multi-dimensional earthquake isolation and mitigation devices显示文摘The viscoelastic multi-dimensional earthquake isolation and mitigation device is a new kind of passive control device, which has both earthquake isolation and earthquake mitigation abilities. In order to quantify the horizontal earthquake isolation and mitigation effect of this device on structures, shaking table tests on structures with and without the devices and the corresponding analysis on earthquake isolation and mitigation properties are carried out. 17A novel artificial noise aided security scheme to resist blind source separation attacks显示文摘In this paper,we discuss the physical layer security from a new angle of view and propose a novel approach to resist some attacks in signal processing perspective.The scenario considered in this paper is that the eavesdropper has the similar channel performance compared to the legitimate receiver.We design the optimal artificial noise(AN)to resist the attacks of the eavesdropper who uses the blind source separation(BSS)technology to reconstruct the secret information.For speech signals,the optimal AN is obtained by minimizing the maximum of the correlation coefficients between the source signal and the received signals at Eve and the correlation coefficients between the source signal and separated results of BSS.For binary phase shift keying(BPSK)signals,we maximize the minimum bit error rates(BERs)of the separated signals and the obtained signals at Eve.Moreover,we consider the AN design from the point of breaking the BSS conditions,and propose a method by changing the correlation coefficient randomly.The simulation results show that the AN we proposed has better performance than that of the white Gaussian AN to resist the BSS attacks for both speech signals and the BPSK signals.Guyue Li Aiqun Hu Yongming Huang 2014Chinese Science Bulletin2014,59,32:3
18A new isolation device using shape memory alloy and its application for long-span structures显示文摘The key points to consider in determining the effectiveness of using structural isolation with shape memory alloys (SMA) are the constitutive model, the SMA isolation device and the analysis method. In this paper, a simplifi ed constitutive model based on the classic theory of plasticity is proposed to simulate the behavior of the superelasticity of the SMA, in which the martensite volume fraction is considered as one of the state variables. Comparisons between simulation results and experimental results are made and indicate that the proposed constitutive model yields stress-strain curves that are in good agreement with the experimental ones. Thus, the proposed model can correctly simulate the yield mechanism and energy dissipation capacity of the SMA. Next, in order to make full use of the superelasticity of SMA, a new SMA isolator composed of pre-tensioned SMA bars is presented. Then, a fi nite element analytical model is established to simulate the behavior of the SMA isolator according to its confi guration and simplifi ed constitutive model. Finally, a simplifi ed design method for long-span structures installed with SMA isolators is proposed, which is further used to investigate the isolation effects of a space grid structure. 19Unscented Kalman-filter-based sliding mode control for an underwater gliding snake-like robot显示文摘With its strong endurance and high maneuverability, an underwater gliding snake-like robot(UGSR) is a strong potential candidate for aquatic exploration and monitoring. The major feature of the UGSR, which distinguishes it from other snake-like robots, is long range and long operation duration by gliding. This study establishes a gliding motion control system for the UGSR based on a sliding mode controller(SMC). The control system stabilizes the system and suppresses the uncertainties and unknown disturbances. In this strategy, chattering is reduced based on the reaching law method. To circumvent the difficulty of velocity measurements, a nonlinear observer based on an unscented Kalman filter(UKF) is employed for state estimation and random noise handling. 20Measurement Study on Wind Characteristics of Typhoon Kalmaegi on the Sutong Bridge显示文摘The Sutong Bridge, a cable-stayed located in the southeast coastal area of China, is vulnerable to the Pacific typhoons. From the data measured by two 3D ultrasonic anemometers at the height of 76 m and 306 m, the wind characteristics (including 10-minute mean wind speed and direction, turbulence intensity and gust factor, power spectral density and integral scale of turbulence) of Typhoon Kalmaegi are analyzed The comparison of 10-minute mean wind velocity from the two anemometers validates the reliability of wind data. The turbulence intensities (Iu, Iv, and Iw) show the decreasing trend as the mean wind speed in-creases. The mean value of Iv/Iu is 0.94, while that of Iw/Iu is 0.90. Discrepancy exists between field-measured power spectra and code-suggested spectra.
