| 1 | Crop photosynthetic response to light quality and light intensity显示文摘Under natural conditions, plants constantly encounter various biotic and abiotic factors, which can potentially restrict plant growth and development and even limit crop productivity. Among various abiotic factors affecting plant photosynthesis, light serves as an important factor that drives carbon metabolism in plants and supports life on earth. The two components of light(light quality and light intensity) greatly affect plant photosynthesis and other plant's morphological, physiological and biochemical parameters. The response of plants to different spectral radiations and intensities differs in various species and also depends on growing conditions. To date, much research has been conducted regarding how different spectral radiations of varying intensity can affect plant growth and development. | 2 | Airship aerodynamic model estimation using unscented Kalman filter显示文摘An airship model is made-up of aerostatic,aerodynamic,dynamic,and propulsive forces and torques.Besides others,the computation of aerodynamic forces and torques is difficult.Usually,wind tunnel experimentation and potential flow theory are used for their calculations.However,the limitations of these methods pose difficulties in their accurate calculation.In this work,an online estimation scheme based on unscented Kalman filter(UKF)is proposed for their calculation.The proposed method introduces six auxiliary states for the complete aerodynamic model.UKF uses an extended model and provides an estimate of a complete state vector along with auxiliary states.The proposed method uses the minimum auxiliary state variables for the approximation of the complete aerodynamic model that makes it computationally less intensive.UKF estimation performance is evaluated by developing a nonlinear simulation environment for University of Engineering and Technology,Taxila(UETT)airship.Estimator performance is vali��dated by performing the error analysis based on estimation error and 2-σ uncertainty bound.For the same problem,the extended Kalman filter(EKF)is also implemented and its results are compared with UKF.The simulation results show that UKF successfully estimates the forces and torques due to the aerodynamic model with small estimation error and the comparative analysis with EKF shows that UKF improves the estimation re��sults and also it is more suitable for the under-consideration problem. | WASIM Muhammad ALI Ahsan | 2020 | Journal of Systems Engineering and Electronics2020,31,6: | 9 |
| 3 | Plant-derived anticancer agents: A green anticancer approach显示文摘Cancer is a frightful disease and represents one of the biggest health-care issues for the human race and demands a proactive strategy for cure. Plants are reservoirs for novel chemical entities and provide a promising line for research on cancer. Hitherto, being effective, chemotherapy is accompanied by certain unbearable side effects. Nevertheless,plants and plant derived products is a revolutionizing field as these are Simple, safer, ecofriendly, low-cost, fast, and less toxic as compared with conventional treatment methods.Phytochemicals are selective in their functions and acts specifically on tumor cells without affecting normal cells. Carcinogenesis is complex phenomena that involves many signaling cascades. Phytochemicals are considered suitable candidates for anticancer drug development due to their pleiotropic actions on target events with multiple manners. The research is in progress for developing potential candidates(those can block or slow down the growth of cancer cells without any side effects) from these phytochemicals. Many phytochemicals and their derived analogs have been identified as potential candidates for anticancer therapy. Effort has been made through this comprehensive review to highlight the recent developments and milestones achieved in cancer therapies using phytomolecules with their mechanism of action on nuclear and cellular factors. | 6 | Significance of inferior wall ischemia in non-dominant right coronary artery anatomy显示文摘AIM To investigate the relationship of inferior wall ischemia on myocardial perfusion imaging in patients with nondominant right coronary artery anatomy.METHODS This was a retrospective observational analysis of consecutive patients who presented to the emergency department with primary complaint of chest pain.Only patients who underwent single photon emission computed tomography(SPECT)myocardial perfusion imaging(MPI)were included.Patients who showed a reversible defect on SPECT MPI and had coronary angiography during the same hospitalization was analyzed.Patients with prior history of coronary artery disease(CAD)including history of percutaneous coronary intervention and coronary artery bypass graft surgerys were excluded.True positive and false positive results were identified on the basis of hemodynamically significant CAD on coronary angiography,in the same territory as identified on SPECT MPI.Coronary artery dominance was determined on coronary angiography.Patients were divided into group 1 and group 2.Group1 included patients with non-dominant right coronary artery(RCA)(left dominant and codominant).Group2 included patients with dominant RCA anatomy.Demographics,baseline characteristics and positive predictive value(PPV)were analyzed for the two groups.RESULTS The mean age of the study cohort was 57.6 years.Sixtyone point seven percent of the patients were males.The prevalence of self-reported diabetes mellitus,hypertension and dyslipidemia was 36%,71.9%and 53.9%respectively.A comparison of baseline characteristics between the two groups showed that patients with a non-dominant RCA were more likely to be men.For inferior wall ischemia on SPECT MPI,patients in study group 2 had a significantly higher PPV,32/42(76.1%),compared to patients in group 1,in which only 3 out of the 29 patients(10.3%)had true positive results(P value<0.001 Z test).The difference remained statistically significant even when only patients with left dominant coronary system(without co-dominant)were compared to patients with right dominant system(32/40,76.1%in right dominant group,3/19,15.8%in left dominant group,P value<0.001 Z test).There was no significant difference in mean hospital stay,re-hospitalization,and in-hospital mortality between the two groups.CONCLUSION The positive predictive value of SPECT MPI for inferior wall ischemia is affected by coronary artery dominance.More studies are needed to explain this phenomenon. | Ali Osama Malik Oliver Abela Subodh Devabhaktuni Arhama Aftab Malik Gayle Allenback Chowdhury H Ahsan Sanjay Malhotra Jimmy Diep | 2017 | World Journal of Cardiology2017,9,3: | 2 |
| 7 | In vivo anticancer activity of vanillin semicarbazone显示文摘Objective:To evaluate the anticancer activity of vanillin semicarbazone(VSC) against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma(EAC) cells in Swiss albino mice.Methods:The compound VSC at three doses(5, 7.5 and 10 mg/kg i.p.) was administered into the intraperitoneal cavity of the EAC inoculated mice to observe its efficiency by studying the cell growth inhibition, reduction of tumour weight,enhancement of survival time as well as the changes in depleted hematological parameters. Allsuch parameters were also studied with a known standard drug bleomycin at the dose of 0.3 mg/kg(i.p.).Results:Among the doses studied, 10 mg/kg(i.p.) was found to be quite comparable in potency to that of bleomycin at the dose of 0.3 mg/kg(i.p.).
