| 2 | Experimental study on dehydration melting of natural biotite-plagioclase gneiss from High Himalayas and implications for Himalayan crust anatexis显示文摘Here we present the results of dehydration melting, melt morphology and fluid migration based on the dehydration melting experiments on natural bio-tite-plagioclase gneiss performed at the pressure of 1.0-1.4 GPa, and at the temperature of 770-1028℃. Experimental results demonstrate that: (i) most of melt tends to be distributed along mineral boundaries forming 'melt film' even the amount of melt is less than 5 vol%; melt connectivity is controlled not only by melt topology but also by melt fraction; (ii) dehydration melting involves a series of subprocesses including subsoiidus dehydration reaction, fluid migration, vapor-present melting and vapor-absent melting; (iii) experiments produce peraluminous granitic melt whose composition is similar to that of High Himalayan leucogranites (HHLG) and the residual phase assemblage is Pl+Qz+ Gat+Bio+Opx±Cpx+IIm/Rut±Kfs and can be comparable with granulites observed in Himalayas. | 4 | The effect of melt overheating on the melt structure transition and solidified structures of Sn-Bi40 alloy显示文摘Evolution of the electrical resistivity of Sn-40wt%Bi melt with time under different overheating temperatures during isothermal experiments has been studied, and the relationship between different melt state, solidification behavior and solidified structure has also been investigated. The results show that the melt structure transition revealed by the abnormal change of resistivity would take place within a certain holding time just when the holding temperature is above a certain critical, and that the higher the temperature above the critical, the shorter the 'incubation period' of the melt structure transition, and the faster the transition speed. The results of solidification experiments suggest that the melt structure transition caused by different holding time at the same temperature can lead to a higher so-lidification undercooling degree, finer grain size and change of microscopic pattern. Further exploration indicates that the solidification undercooling degree can come to a head when the melt is held at the specific temperature for a given time. | 5 | Si-and alkali-rich melt inclusions in minerals of mantle peridotites from eastern China:Implication for lithospheric evolution显示文摘Minerals of spinel- and garnet-facies mantle xenoliths entrained in Cenozoic basalts from eastern China (North China, Northeastern China and Southeastern China coastal area) contains lots of melt inclusions. Studies on these melt inclusions show that the glass inclusions are rich in SiO2 (60%―68%) and alkalis (K2O+Na2O=5%―11%, especially for K2O) as well as volatiles such as H2O and CO2 (2%―7%), which belong to dacites and andesites of the high-K calcic alkali series rocks with few shoshonites. High Al and Ca diopside in melt inclusion is the product of melt crystallization at high temperature and pressure, rather than the product of devitrification. Results show that these K-rich (in general K2O>3%) intermediate-acidic silicate melt inclusions have characteristics of continent without a genetical link to host basalts and their phenocrystic minerals. Thus, these trapped melt inclusions represent melts of Mesozoic lithospheric mantle-crust interaction and imply that the continental litho-spheric mantle beneath eastern China had undergone fragmentation and recreation processes during the Mesozoic and Cenozoic periods. This result undoubtly provides important implication for the evo-lution of sub-continental lithosphere beneath eastern China. | 6 | Estimate of influence of U-Th-K radiogenic heat on cooling process of granitic melt and its geological implications显示文摘The U-Th-^(40)K concentrations of granite are on 1―2 orders of magnitude greater than those of basal- tic-ultrabasic rocks. Radiogenic heat of a granitic melt has significant influence on the cool- ing-crystallization period of the melt. In this paper we derived a formula to calculate prolongation period (tA) of cooling-crystallization of a granitic melt caused by radiogenic heat. Calculation using this for- mula and radioactive element concentrations (U=5.31×10-6; Th=23.1×10-6; K=4.55%) for the biotite adamellite of the Jinjiling batholith shows that the tA of the adamellite is 1.4 times of the cooling period of the granitic melt without considering radiogenic heat from the initial temperature (Tm=960℃) to crystallization temperature (Tc=600℃) of the melt. | 7 | The fluid inclusions in jadeitite from Pharkant area, Myanmar显示文摘A lot of liquid-gas and liquid-gas-solid inclusions were found in Pharkant jadeitites, northwestern Myanmar and their characteristics, geological setting and porphyroclastic jadeites with inclusions in them were described in detail. The results analyzed by Raman spectrometer showed that the component of liquid-gas phase and solid phase (daughter minerals) in fluid inclusions is H2O + CH4 and jadeite separately. The results indicated that Pharkant jadeitites were crystallized from H2O + CH4 bearing jadeitic melt which may originate from mantle. | 8 | Characteristics of melt inclusions in skarn minerals from Fe, Cu(Au) and Au(Cu) ore deposits in the region from Daye to Jiujiang显示文摘A vast amount of the melt inclusions and fluid-melt inclusions have been found in skarn minerals from Fe, Cu(Au) and Au(Cu) ore deposits distributed from Daye to Jiujiang along the Yangtze River besides vapor-liquid inclusions. The melt inclusions are many and varied in shape. They mainly consist of crystallized silicate phases (CSi), iron phases (Fe), amorphous sili-cate phases (ASi) and vapor (V) with different volume percentages, and some of them contain sev-eral crystallized silicate phases. These melt inclusion sizes are commonly (10—46)×(6—15) mm2. A difference between the fluid-melt inclusions and melt inclusions is that the liquid phase appears in the former and their homogenization temperatures are lower than the latter. We measured the homogenization temperatures of the melt inclusions, fluid-melt inclusions and fluid inclusions in ten thin sections from eight ore deposits on Leitz microscope heating stage 1350 which was made in Germany. Forty-eight homogenization temperature values have been obtained. Among them, thirty-nine values are homogenization temperatures of the melt inclusions in garnet and pyroxene from skarns, two values are homogenization temperatures of fluid-melt inclusions, others belong to the fluid inclusions. Melt inclusions in garnet and pyroxene have homogenization temperatures of 890—1115℃. Fluid-melt inclusions have homogenization temperatures of 745—750℃. Homog-enization temperatures of fluid inclusions are between 580℃ and 675℃. The average of thirty- nine homogenization temperatures for the melt inclusions is 1029.9℃. | 9 | Tibetan Plateau Geladaindong black carbon ice core record(1843-1982):Recent increases due to higher emissions and lower snow accumulation显示文摘Black carbon(BC) deposited on snow and glacier surfaces can reduce albedo and lead to accelerated melt. An ice core recovered from Guoqu glacier on Mt. Geladaindong and analyzed using a Single Particle Soot Photometer(SP2) provides the ?rst long-term(1843-1982) record of BC from the central Tibetan Plateau. Post 1940 the record is characterized by an increased occurrence of years with above average BC, and the highest BC values of the record. The BC increase in recent decades is likely caused by a combination of increased emissions from regional BC sources, and a reduction in snow accumulation. Guoqu glacier has received no net ice accumulation since the 1980 s, and is a potential example of a glacier where an increase in the equilibrium line altitude is exposing buried high impurity layers. | 10 | Petrogenesis of Songshugou dunite body in the Qinling orogenic belt, Central China: Constraints from geochemistry and melt inclusions显示文摘The Songshugou dunite body, which occupies an area of about 20 km2, is the largest ultramafic massif in the eastern Qinling orogenic belt, Central China. The major compo-nent of this body is dunitic rocks including mylonitic dunite and coarse-grained dunite; they oc-cupy about 95 vol% of the total body. Petrography, mineral composition, major and trace ele-ments and primitive melt inclusions have been investigated in this paper; all revealed that this dunite body is the product of melt-rock interaction by porous percolation flow. In comparison with dunite sills or veins in harzburgite from the basal part of Oman ophiolite, this dunite body is characterized by lower contents of Al2O3, CaO and HREE but higher content of highly incom-patible elements and Zr and Hf. The LREE enriched patterns and primitive mantle normalized spidergrams of trace elements are also different from the Oman dunite. Combining with melt in-clusions observed in olivines, we conclude that this dunite body is the product of large- scale porous percolation flow of high-MgO melts within depleted mantle peridotites. The high-MgO magma, in essence, was most probably produced at the hot head of an upwelling mantle plume. | 12 | High Thermal Stable Polyimide Resins Derived from Phenylethynyl-endcapped Fluorenyl Oligoimides with Low Melt Viscosities显示文摘To improve the processability and thermal stability of polyimide, a series of novel phenylethynyl-endcapped oligoimides(PEPA-oligoimides) with calculated molecular weights(M_nC) were successfully prepared from thermal imidization of 4,4'-(9-fluorenylidene) dianiline(BAFL) as fluorenyl diamine, 4,4′-oxy-diphthalic anhydride(ODPA) as aromatic dianhydride and 4-phenylethynylphthalic anhydride(4-PEPA) acted as reactive end-capping reagent at elevated temperatures. Experiment results indicated that the oligoimides were the mixtures of PEPA-endcapped oligomers with different degrees of polymerization characterized by MALDI-TOF mass spectra. The influence of chemical structures on the melt processabilities of the oligoimides, the thermal, dielectric and mechanical properties of the thermoset resins was studied. The typical oligoimide resin owned minimum melt viscosity of 0.2 Pa·s at around 310 °C and wide melting processing window, suitable for resin transfer molding(RTM). Besides, its corresponding thermal-cured polyimide resin possessed glass transition temperature(T_g) as high as 514 °C. The dielectric constants of polyimide resins decreased from 3.15 to 2.80 by reducing the M_nC. The mechanical properties of the polyimide neat resins were improved gradually with increasing MnC. | 14 | Thermophysical properties of Ni-5%Sn alloy melt显示文摘The surface tension and specific heat of Ni-5%Sn alloy melt were measured by the oscillating drop method and the drop calorimetric method using electromagnetic levitation, respectively. The temperature coefficient of surface tension is 6.43×10-4 N·m?1K?1 within the temperature regime of 1464-1931 K. The enthalpy change was measured in the temperature range from 1461 to 1986 K, and the average specific heat was obtained as 43.03 J·mol?1K?1. Some other thermophysical properties, such as viscosity, solute dif-fusion coefficient, density, thermal diffusivity and thermal conductivity of this alloy melt, were derived based on the experimentally measured surface tension and specific heat. | 15 | The relationship between viscosity and glass forming ability of Al-(Ni)-Yb alloy systems显示文摘The dynamic viscosity of Al-Yb and Al-Ni-Yb superheated melts was measured using a torsional oscillation viscometer. The results show that the temperature dependence of viscosity fits the Arrhenius law well and the fitting factors are calculated. The amorphous ribbons of these alloys were produced by the melt spinning technique and the thermal properties were characterized by using a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). E (the activation energy for viscous flow), which reflects the change rate of viscosity, has a good negative relation with the GFA in both Al-Yb and Al-Ni-Yb systems. However, there is no direct relation between liquidus viscosity (ηL) and GFA. | 16 | A Study of Melt Flow Analysis of an ABS-Iron Composite in Fused Deposition Modelling Process显示文摘Fused deposition modelling (FDM) is a filament based rapid prototyping system which offers the possibility of introducing new composite material for the FDM process as long as the new material can be made in feedstock filament form. Swinburne has been undertaking extensive research in development of new composite materials involving acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS) and other materials including metals. In order to predict the behaviour of new ABS based composite materials in the course of FDM process, it is necessary to investigate the flow of the composite material in liquefier head. No such study is available considering the geometry of the liquefier head. This paper presents 2-D and 3-D numerical analysis of melt flow behaviour of a representative ABS-iron composite through the 90-degree bent tube of the liquefier head of the fused deposition modelling process using ANSYS FLOTRAN and CFX finite element packages. Main flow parameters including temperature, velocity, and pressure drop have been investigated. Filaments of the filled ABS have been fabricated and characterized to verify the possibility of prototyping using the new material on the current FDM machine. | 17 | A soft sensor for industrial melt index prediction based on evolutionary extreme learning machine显示文摘In propylene polymerization(PP) process, the melt index(MI) is one of the most important quality variables for determining different brands of products and different grades of product quality. Accurate prediction of MI is essential for efficient and professional monitoring and control of practical PP processes. This paper presents a novel soft sensor based on extreme learning machine(ELM) and modified gravitational search algorithm(MGSA) to estimate MI from real PP process variables, where the MGSA algorithm is developed to find the best parameters of input weights and hidden biases for ELM. As the comparative basis, the models of ELM, APSO-ELM and GSAELM are also developed respectively. Based on the data from a real PP production plant, a detailed comparison of the models is carried out. | 20 | Initiation, Development and Stabilization of Cavities during Tensile Deformation of Semicrystalline Polymers显示文摘By using polybutene-1 as a typical example, we illustrate the initiation, development and stabilization of cavities in the sample during tensile deformation. Samples with the same crystallinity, long spacing and crystalline lamellar thickness but very different sizes of spherulites were prepared via changing the melt history. Dimension of cavities during stretching the samples was determined by in situ ultra small angle X-ray scattering techniques. It turned out that the size of the cavities was bigger in the sample with larger spherulites than the one with smaller spherulites.
