Analysis of sensitivity and errors in Maglev vibration test system显示文摘In order to improve work performance of M aglev vibration test systems, the relationships of operating parameters between different components and system were researched. The working principle of photoelectric displacement sensor was analyzed. The relationship between displacement of transducer and the infrared light area received by sensor was given. The method of expanding the dynamic range of vibrator was proposed, which makes dynamic range of Maglev vibrator doubled. By increasing the amplification of the amplifier, the sensitive photoelectric displacement sensor can be maintained. Two modes of operation of the controller were analyzed. Bilateral work of vibration test system designed can further improve the stability of the system. An object vibration was measured by Maglev vibration test system designed when different vibration exciter frequencies were loaded. Experiments showthat the output frequency measured by Maglev vibration test system and loaded are the same. Finally, the errors of test system were analyzed. These errors of vibration test system designed can meet the requirements of application. The results laid the foundation for the practical application of magnetic levitation vibration test system. | JIANG Dong LIU Xukun WANG Deyu YANG Jiaxiang | 2016 | Instrumentation2016,3,1: | 24
Electrostatic levitation under the single-axis feedback control condition显示文摘An electrostatic levitator with a single-axis feedback control system was developed on the basis of electric field analysis and optimum design for levitation electrodes. In order to realize the stable levitation of various types of materials such as metals, inorganic materials and polymers, we made both experimental and theoretical investigations to solve the four key problems of electric field optimization, sample position detecting, sample charging control and levitation voltage minimization. Under the capacitive induction charging condition, a sample with the size of 2.6–4.5 mm usually bears positive charges amounting to 10-9 Coulomb. Because the single-axis feedback control system responds quickly, it takes the levitated sample only 0.1 s from leaving the bottom electrode until attaining a stable levitation in the upright direction. The levitated sample displays satisfactory levitation stability in both the upright and the horizontal directions owing to the constraining force produced by spherical electrodes. | HU Liang, WANG HaiPeng, XIE WenJun & WEI BingBo* Department of Applied Physics, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an 710072, China | 2010 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,8: | 7
Integration of a Nonlinear Vibration Absorber and Levitation Magnetoelectric Energy Harvester for Whole-Spacecraft Systems显示文摘This paper presents a new device integrating a nonlinear vibration absorber with a levitation magnetoelectric energy harvester for whole-spacecraft systems. This device effectively reduces vibration and has a stronger energy harvesting capability than the existing systems. It harvests energy from a wide frequency range and has a high output voltage. The harvested energy is determined by magnetic field strength, excitation frequency, and resistive load. The change in the magnetic field strength has the least impact on the output voltage. The vibration reduction effects and harvested energy of the system are analyzed with an approximate analytical method that combines the harmonic balance approach and the pseudo-arclength continuation algorithm. The results of the Runge-Kutta method are nearly consistent with those of the approximate analytical method. Moreover, the effects of the excitation frequency, resistive load, and parameters of the nonlinear energy sink on the system vibration response and energy harvesting are analyzed. | Ye-Wei Zhang Zhi-Wei Fang Shi-Lei Wang Zhi-Yu Ni Jian Zang Bo Fang | 2019 | Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica2019,32,3: | 6
Digital image processing of sectorial oscillations for acoustically levitated drops and surface tension measurement显示文摘A type of non-axisymmetric oscillations of acoustically levitated drops is excited by modulating the ultrasound field at proper frequencies. These oscillations are recorded by a high speed camera and analyzed with a digital image processing method. They are demonstrated to be the third mode sectorial oscillations, and their frequencies are found to decrease with the increase of equatorial radius of the drops, which can be described by a modified Rayleigh equation. These oscillations decay exponentially after the cessation of ultrasound field modulation. The decaying rates agree reasonably with Lamb’s prediction. The rotating rate of the drops accompanying the shape oscillations is found to be less than 1.5 rounds per second. The surface tension of aqueous ethanol has been measured according to the modified Rayleigh equation. The results agree well with previous reports, which demonstrates the possible application of this kind of sectorial oscillations in noncontact measurement of liquid surface tension. | SHEN ChangLe, XIE WenJun & WEI BingBo Department of Applied Physics, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Xi’an 710072, China | 2010 | Science China(Physics,Mechanics & Astronomy)2010,53,12: | 4

THE ELECTROMAGNETIC FIELD CALCULATION AND ANALYSIS OF LEVITATION MELTING WITH COLD CRUCIBLE显示文摘In this paper, using the quasi-3D coupled current method, the influences of structure of cold crucible, the power frequency, the electricity property of melt, the coil position and current on the electromagnetic field (EMF) and the levitation characteristics in the melting processes are analyzed. It is shown that in the processes of levitation melting with cold crucible, the power frequency and cold crucible structure are the decisive factors for the ability of magnetic flux penetrating into cold crucible. The magnetic flux density in cold crucible is reduced as the increasing of power frequency, and this tendency becomes stronger when the power frequency is higher than 100kHz. The segmented structure of cold crucible can reduce the induction eddy in itself effectively, and the higher the power frequency is, the better the result is. So, a cold crucible can be segmented into 16-20 sectors for high frequency electromagnetic field and/or 8-12 sectors for lower frequency one. It is also shown that the levitation force of melting charge is related to coil current as a parabolic function. | K. Deng, Z.M. Ren, J.Q. Chen and G.C. | 8 | Ambiguous temperature difference in aerodynamic levitation process: Modelling, solving and application显示文摘The aerodynamic levitation provides an efficient technique for the research on thermophysical properties and solidification behavior of refractory materials. However, there is a nonnegligible temperature differences across sample, causing unexpected uncertainty of measurement, such as, thermal expansivity and undercooling limit. We establish thermal filed model with properly simplified boundary condition, and derive quantitative expressions of this ambiguous temperature difference. Here we show that the temperature difference not only related to the average temperature, relative size and thermal conductivity of sample, but significantly influenced by the rotation pattern of sample. A huge temperature differences is almost inevitable when the sample with low thermal conductivity and high melting point is smelted in stationary suspension pattern, however, a drastically reduction of temperature difference can be fulfilled by simply making the sample rotation in up to down pattern. The thermal filed simulation was used to confirm the validity of these theoretical expressions. This work shed light on temperature difference in aerodynamic levitation. Based on this work, one can simply estimate the extent of temperature difference across the sample, and regulated that conveniently if needed, which benefit for novel material preparation and solidification mechanism study based on this technique. | Xuan Ge Xiaowei Xu Qiaodan Hu Wenquan Lu Liang Yang Sheng Cao Mingxu Xia Jianguo Li | 2019 | Journal of Materials Science & Technology2019,35,8: | 1

Levitated Liquid Dynamics in Gravity Compensating Magnetic Fields显示文摘Numerical models are used to investigate behavior of a solid body or liquid droplets suspended in AC and DC magnetic fields of various configurations providing conditions similar to microgravity. The realistic gradient fields,as in superconducting magnets, are used for the modeling experiments with electrically conducting droplets. The oscillations in a high DC magnetic field are different for an electrically conducting droplet. At the high values of magnetic field some oscillation modes are damped quickly, while others are modified with a considerable shift of the oscillating droplet frequencies and the damping constants from the non-magnetic case.On a larger scale, the models are used to investigate the melting process of reactive materials, for example titanium alloys. If the contact is avoided, thermal losses could be limited only by radiation and possible evaporation. | V.Bojarevics K.Pericleous A.Roy | 2012 | Journal of Iron and Steel Research(International)2012,19,S2: | 0
Single-axis ultrasound levitation system with annular clamping forces显示文摘Based on the principle of acoustic levitation,a single-axis ultrasonic levitation system(SAULS) with convex sides was designed.A normal SAULS only provides a levitation force(LF) against the gravity of the sample. While, such systems also provide an annular clamping force(ACF) surrounding the levitated samples, and improve levitation stability of samples in the standing wave field.Using the finite-difference time-domain method,we investigated the force distributions in different resonance cavities and the factors that influence the magnitude of the levitation force in optimizing the SAULS and the ACF.The theoretical analyses and experimental results indicate that the stability of levitation in this special SAULS is improved with the ACF from its designed convex-side feature. It can be developed into a simple device in levitating and moving samples steadily in related experiments and applications. | YIN Guanjun LI Pan FAN Haoran GUO Jianzhong | 2019 | Chinese Journal of Acoustics2019,38,2: | 0

Effect of excess Y_2O_3 addition on the physical properties of melt processed YBCO bulks显示文摘The YBCO superconductors with Y2O3 addition were prepared by a modified melt textured process and the effects of excess Y2O3 addition on the physical properties of melt textured YBCO have been investigated. It is found that the melt temperature of YBCO samples decreases drastically with the increasing Y2O3, and the maximum levitation forces are drastically different for samples with different Y2O3 addition. It is also found that the optimal Y2O3 addition to YBCO is about 10wt%. Considering the microstructure and the starting composition, the results are well discussed and interpreted. | YANG Wanmin1,2,3, ZHOU Lian2, FENG Yong2, ZHANG Pingxiang2, WU Minzhi3 & W. GAWALEK3 1. | 15 | Effect of induced shielding current transmission in longitudinal direction on levitation force of melt grown single-domain YBa_2Cu_3O_(7-x) cylindrical superconductor显示文摘A novel layer deletion method is used to experimentally investigate the effect of induced shielding current transmission (ISCT) in the longitudinal direction on the levitation force of a single-domain YBa2Cu3O7-x (YBCO) cylindrical superconductor (f30? mm). In the experiment the sample was gradually sliced into two equal sheets, at the middle height along a diameter with 5 mm every step. The experimental results show that the levitation force is closely related with the ISCT in the longitudinal direction. Any layer deletion, even a small piece of layer deletion can reduce the levitation force of the sample. After the whole layer was deleted the levitation force can diminish about 50%. It is also found that the levitation force is directly proportional to the effective factor of surface area, which is equal to the top surface area divided by the total surface area parallel to the top surface of the sample. | R. | 20 | Maximization of Acoustic Levitating Force for a Single-Axis Acoustic Levitation System Using the Finite Element Method显示文摘We investigate single-axis acoustic levitation using standing waves to levitate particles freely in a medium bounded by a driver and a reflector. The acoustic pressure at the pressure antinode of the standing wave counteracts the downward gravitational force of the levitating object. The optimal relationship between the air gap and the driving frequency leads to resonance and hence maximization of the levitating force. Slight deviation from the exact resonance condition causes a reduction in acoustic pressure at the pressure antinodes. This results in a significant reduction of the levitating force. The driving frequency is kept constant while the air gap is varied for different conditions. The optimal air gap for maximizing the levitation force is studied for first three resonance modes. Furthermore, a levitating particle is introduced between the driver and the reflector. The dependence of the resonance condition on the size of the levitating particle as well as the position of the particle between the driver and the reflector has also been studied. As the size of the levitating particle increases, the resonance condition also gets modified. Finite element results show a good agreement with the validated results available in the literature. Furthermore, the finite element approach is also used to study the variation of acoustic pressure at the pressure antinode with respect to the size of the reflector. The optimum diameter of the reflector is calculated for maximizing the levitating force for three resonance modes. | Saurabh Yadav Arpan Gupta | 2019 | Chinese Physics Letters2019,36,3: | 0
