1Transition Metal Boride-Based Materials for Electrocatalytic Water Splitting显示文摘Electrocatalytic water splitting to produce hydrogen is an eco-friendly way to achieve sustainable utilization of renewable energy. The industrial application of water electrolysis, which is severely limited by slow kinetic reactions on electrode surfaces, requires the development of highly reactive, low-cost and stable electrocatalytic materials. Transition metal borides/borates have recently emerged as promising electrocatalytic materials for catalyzing hydrogen/oxygen evolution reactions(HER/OER) in inexpensive electrolyzers. However, so far, there has been little comprehensive summary of transition metal borides/borates. Here, this review provides the latest research progress on transition metal borides/borates for electrocatalytic water splitting. The structural characteristics of transition metal borides/borates and their synthesis methods in recent years are discussed. Then, the theoretical and experimental progress of transition metal borides including single-metal borides, multi-metal borides, borate derived and other nanocomposites containing boron(boron-doped nanocomposites/substrate with boron) in electrocatalytic reaction and the role of boron in regulating electrocatalytic performance are further emphasized. Finally, the potential challenges and future prospects of transition metal borides/borates in electrocatalysis are presented.Feng-Ge Wang Xin Liu Qian-Xi Lv Bin Liu Yong-Ming Chai Bin Dong 2022Chinese Journal of Structural Chemistry2022,41,9:0
2Soft X-Ray Absorption Spectroscopy of Advanced Two-Dimensional Photo/Electrocatalysts for Water Splitting显示文摘Photo/electrocatalytic water splitting has been considered as one of the most promising approaches for the clean hydrogen production. Among various photo/electrocatalysts,2D nanomaterials exhibit great potential because of their conspicuous properties. Meanwhile,synchrotron-based soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy(XAS) as a powerful and element-specific technique has been widely used to explore the electronic structure of 2D photo/electrocatalysts to comprehensively understand their working mechanism for the development of high-performance catalysts. In this work, the recent developments of soft XAS techniques applied in 2D photo/electrocatalysts have been reviewed, mainly focusing on identifying the surface active sites, elucidating the location of heteroatoms, and unraveling the interfacial interaction in the composite. The challenges and outlook in this research field have also been emphasized. The present review provides an in-depth understanding on how soft XAS techniques unravel the correlations between structure and performance in 2D photo/electrocatalysts, which could guide the rational design of highly efficient catalysts for photo/electrocatalytic water splitting.Xiaoxin Lv Guoqing Li Gaoteng Zhang Kun Feng Jiujun Deng Jun Zhong 2022Chinese Journal of Structural Chemistry2022,41,10:0
