1生物样本保:护生的物重多要样支性撑研究与显示文摘生物标本是生物学研究领域的重要素材,是不可再生的战略生物资源。中国科学院生物标本馆是中国生物标本资源保藏、研究和科学教育的中心,在中国生物多样性研究与保护中具有不可替代的重要作用。生物标本能够提供物种、空间和时间3个维度的重要信息,有巨大潜力服务于生物多样性的研究与保护。通过对这些信息的挖掘、利用,可有效支撑生物多样性相关领域的研究,包括物种认知、生物多样性编目、濒危物种保护与管理、外来生物入侵防治、生物多样性监测,以及物种分布格局与生物多样性变化等。未来对标本资源的建设和管理需要致力于更加全面地收集和保藏,加强深层次信息的获取和数据整合平台的建设,才能更好地为我国生态文明建设和生物多样性保护贡献力量。贺鹏 陈军 孔宏智 蔡磊 乔格侠 2021中国科学院院刊2021,36,4:8
2Major clades and a revised classification of Magnolia and Magnoliaceae based on whole plastid genome sequences via genome skimming显示文摘With more than 300 species,the Magnoliaceae family represents a major Magnolid lineage that is disjunctly distibuted in Asia and the New World,.The classifcation of Magnolia s.L.has been highly controversial among taxonomists,varying from one genus with several subgenera,sections,and subsections to several(up to 16)genera.We conducted a comprehensive phylogenetic study of Magnoliaceae on the basis of sequences of the complete chloroplast genomes with a broad jaxon sampling of 86 species.The phylogenetic analyses strongly support 15 major clades within Magnolia si.due to the non-monophyly of subgen.Mgnolia,the previous subgeneric treatment that recognizes three subgenera,is not supported.Based on the phylogenetic,morphological,and geographic evidence,we recognize two subfamilies in Magollaceae:Liriodendroideae and Magnolioideae,each with one genus,Liriodendron and Magnolla,respectively.Magnolla Is herein lassfed into 15 sections:sects.Mognolia,Manglietia,Micheila,willimia,Gynopodium,Kmerla,Maingola,Oyama,Rytidospermum,Splendentes,Talouma,Tulparla,Macophylla,Tllpastrum,and Yulanla.Yu-Bing Wang Bin-Bin Liu Ze-Long Nie Hong-Feng Chen Fa-Ju Chen Richard B.Figlar Jun Wen 2020Journal of Systematics and Evolution2020,58,5:6
3Origins of cultivars of Chrysanthemum-Evidence from the chloroplast genome and nuclear LFY gene显示文摘The origins of cultivated chrysanthemums have attracted considerable attention,but they remain poorly known.Here,we reconstructed the phylogeny of representative well-known cultivars and wild species of the genus Chrysanthemum using chloroplast genomes and the nuclear LEAFY gene.Our results suggest that geographic and ecological factors may determine the opportunities for wild species to be involved in the origin of the cultivars.The wild species C.indicum,C.zawadskii,C.dichrum,C.nankingense,C.argyrophyllum,and C.vestitum were likely directly or indirectly involved as paternal species of most of the chrysanthemum cultivars examined in this study.Yet,the maternal species is supported to be a lineage of an extinct wild Chrysanthemum species and its subsequent cultivars,as all accessions of chrysanthemum cultivars sampled formed a strongly supported clade,distinct from all other species of Chrysanthemum in the plastome tree.Thus,the cultivated chrysanthemums originated from multiple hybridizations involving several paternal species rather than only two or a few wild species,with an extinct species and its subsequent cultivars serving as the maternal parents.This finding is consistent with Chrysanthemum having high rates of hybridization and gene flow,which has been demonstrated within previous studies;nevertheless,it is important to unravel the role of an extinct wild Chrysanthemum species as the ultimate maternal parent species for all the chrysanthemum cultivars.Our results also suggest that C.vestitum from Tianzhu and Funiu Mountains in Anhui and Henan Provinces of China represent two distinct cryptic species.Yue-Ping Ma Liang Zhao Wen-Jie Zhang Ying-Hua Zhang Xia Xing Xia-Xia Duan Jing Hu AJ Harris Pei-Liang Liu Si-Lan Dai Jun Wen 2020Journal of Systematics and Evolution2020,58,6:4
4Molecular phylogeny and species delimitation of Stachyuraceae: Advocating a herbarium specimen-based phylogenomic approach in resolving species boundaries显示文摘Species concept and delimitation are fundamental to taxonomic and evolutionary studies.Both inadequate informative sites in the molecular data and limited taxon sampling have often led to poor phylogenetic resolution and incorrect species delineation.Recently,the whole chloroplast genome sequences from extensive herbarium specimen samples have been shown to be ffective to amend the problem.Stachyuraceae are a small family consisting of only one genus Stachyurus of six to 16 species.However,species delimitation in Stachyurus has been highly controversial because of few and generally unstable morphological characters used for cassfcation.In this study,we sampled 69 individuals of seven species(each with at least three individual)covering the entire taxonomlc dlversity,geographlc range,and morphological varlation of Stachyurus from her barium specimens for genome wide plastid gene sequencing to address species delineation in the genus.We obtained high quality DNAS from specimens using a repently developed DNA reconstruction technique.We first assembled four whole chloroplast genome sequences.Based on the chloroplast genome and one nuclear ribosomal DNA sequence of Stachyunus,we designed primers for multiplex polymerase chain reaction and high throughput sequencing of 44 plastid loci for species of Stachyurus,Data of these chloroplast DNA and nuclear ribosomal DNA internal transcribed spacer sequences were used for phylogenetic analyses.The phylogenetic results showed that the Japanese species Stachyurus praecox Siebold&Zucc.was sister to the rest in China's Mainland,which indicated a typical Sino-Japanese distribution pattern.Based on diagnostic morphological characters,dlstinct distrbutional range,and monophyly of each clade,we redefined seven species for Stachyurus fllowving an integrative specles concept,and revised the taxonomy of the family based on previous reports and specimens,in particular the type specimens.Furthermore,our divergence time estimation results suggested that Stachyuraceae split from its sister group Crossosomataceae from the New World at ca.54.29 Mya,but extant species of Stachyuraceae started their diversifcation only recently at ca.6.85 Mya.Diversification time of Stachyurus in China's Mainland was estimated to be ca.4.45 Mya.This research has provided an example of using the herbarium specimen based phylogenomic approach in resolving species boundaries in a taxonomically dificult genus.Jun-Xia Su Cong-Cong Dong Yan-Ting Niu Li-Min Lu Chao xu Bing Liu ShiLiang Zhou An-Ming Lu Yu-Ping Zhu Jun Wen Zhi-Duan Chen 2020Journal of Systematics and Evolution2020,58,5:2
5Taxonomy and biogeography of Diapensia (Diapensiaceae) based on chloroplast genome data显示文摘Diapensia L.is the second largest genus of Diapensiaceae.The taxonomic treatment within Diapensia and relationships within Diapensiaceae have been disputed.Chloroplast genome sequence data have proved to be useful for plant phylogenetic analyses and species delimitation.In this study,we de novo sequenced and assembled 22 chloroplast genomes of 15 species of Diapensiaceae,including all recognized species of Diapensia with mutiple samples.A super-matrix containing a total of 107 genes and 18 taxa was constructed for phylogenetic analyses to resolve phylogenetic relationships among genera of the famly and within Dipensia,The resulting phylogetic tree showed the fllowing strongly supported relationships:(Galax,(Pyvidantherd,(Berneuxid,(Schizocodon,Dipensia),and Shortia 5.-J))The dated phylogeny and reconstructed lineage through time plot for the family indicated rapid diversification in the Neogene and an acceleration of diversifcation rate after c.8 Ma.Biogeographic analysis suggested that Dlapensia onginated in the Northeast Asian mountains approximately 6.06 Ma,fllowed by northward dispersal to the Arctic and southwestward dispersal to the Himalaya-Hengduan Mountains,Phylogenetic relationships within Dipensia were well resolved.Based on the phylogenetic resuts,we proposed to reinstate the:species status of Diapensla blleyana Forrest ex Diels,and raised D.purpurea f.albida to the species rank(D.albida[W.E.Evans]J.F.Ye comb.&stat.nov.J.The dstrbution ranges of all spedles dlineated based on the phylogenetic results were revised accordingly based on specimen occurrences.Our study adds new examples for the power of plastid genome data for resolving phylogenetic relationships and darfyig taxonomic disputes among closely related species.Jian-Fei Ye Yan-Ting Niu Yan-Lei Feng Bing Liu Li-Si Hai Jun Wen Zhi-Duan Chen 2020Journal of Systematics and Evolution2020,58,5:1
